@heelsidehero I can't speak for @crazyliblady but I grew up in a household that was extremely conservative. My parents went to a church that taught that mediation was a way for your soul to leave the body and allow the devil to influence you. (I know, I know, just bear with me) They also taught a lot of card games were a form of gambling, which is a HUGE sin. Dancing was also sinful, and we ended up switching churches because ballet was kind of a big deal in our house
My parents didn't really believe those things specifically, but there were enough people within the congregation that did. I'd imagine in a smaller town those numbers would be larger. Within rural or small towns there are a lot of misconceptions about things like yoga. My mom in particular thought that Buddha was an Asian God until very recently.

Wow. That is hard to digest, but thanks for the insight. I had no idea.
@crazyliblady I think a lot of people think that everyone who does yoga is a granola munching hippie and they're going to influence their kids into doing drugs or something through meditation.
I grew up in a relatively conservative church and household, but we were allowed to dance and such. My family has always done halloween, etc etc. I find a lot of people who try to use the "this is a conservative community" are really just stuck up and freaked out by new things. No all of them, but the vast majority
