I'm super salty H didn't tell me how much he loved the name Cecilia today. He got to see her in the ultrasound for the first-time today and I thought it would soften him up. I have literally no other names I like after someone told me Eleanor was too popular on the name thread.
We tried to go unpopular with our twins, but for some reason "old, timeless names" came back in by the time we had kids and I've met like 5 kids with my daughters name and know of another a few months younger with my son's name. It doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought. Their names fit their personalities so darn well that I wouldn't change them for the world. And honestly, if my kid needs to referred to as "Xxxxx B" her whole school career, so be it. Or maybe she'll still go by her weird names that for some reason related to her middle name.
Tw, loss mentioned Another FFFC- After our 2nd loss (1st through fertility treatments), I was let go from my job because I took a week off of work to recover mentally and clearly could "no longer perform the jobs tasks". We decided I wouldn't go back to work so I could concentrate all of my energy on ivf. We told people I was a "stay at home dog mom" and it seriously was some of the best childless months of my life. Those dogs knew I was in a bad place and they were amazing to me. Our dogs certainly are not on the same level as our kids, but we treat them very well. They sleep in our bed (thanks DH) and we honestly miss them when we're on vacations. We do refer to them as "granddogs" to my mom because she watches them whenever we're out of town without her.
@sharkmama39 omfg salt and vinegar chips!!!???? How have I forgotten that these are a thing. I need them now.
My FFFC - keeping with the name theme, I really try to avoid popular names. I am happy that all of the current popular names are what they are, because I honestly hate them all. Makes my life easy.
@sandbar517 and @meggles816 I have an older sister who constantly compares having a dog to having a child. When I told her I was pregnant with number 2 she said " oh god are sure?? Isn't now having one hard enough? I can't imagine having two dogs" whelp im pretty sure number two is on it so way.
FFC my toddler is driving me crazy today. I’m a SAHM and am so nauseous today and I just want to be left alone. And I haven’t been able to poop all day and he refuses to not stand in the doorway and watch me which makes trying to go SO much easier.
On another note, it is so heartbreaking to have to tell him I need to rest when he wants me to play and he sadly says, “okay”. Dear God please let the second trimester be better...and get here asap
I couldn't care less what other people name their kids. It lbs not because I'm a better person, but I am literally so self centered that all I say is, well, it doesn't affect me in any way, so whatever!
Also, with "dog moms", I get it, they aren't the same, but if that's what makes you happy, go for it. I have gone through infertility and sometimes the need to take care of someone or something that is smaller and helpless and loves you unconditionally is so strong that it hurts. Be a dog mom, or cat mom, or hamster mom, whatever floats your boat and gets you through the day is cool.
My FFFC: my husband is deer hunting right now and I'm secretly hoping he doesn't get anything because A) I hate most meat right now and never liked venison, and B ) We don't own an extra freezer and there is no room in our normal one for groceries as it is.
To keep with the FFFC names - I have extreme name regret with my oldest. I like uncommon names. Her dad (my ex) liked very popular/traditional type names. We fought over it my entire pregnancy, I finally gave into one on his list that I hated the least because I was exhausted from giving birth and tired of fighting about it. Now I wish I would have fought harder for one of my choices. I never call her by her real name, I use a nickname.
Edited To add - he would have never caved and probably would have thrown a huge fit if I fought the names harder. To explain the type of guy he was, I was in labor for 18 hours, pushed for almost 2. A few hours after she was born he told me he was more tired than I was and his cot was too uncomfortable and asked me to switch beds. I said no, he freaked out, yelled and screamed and went home. He was a real gem.
Adding to everyone's dog kids names, our dogs have people names Lukas and Sammy. And we're seriously considering naming a boy after Lukas. So we'd literally be giving our kid a dogs name.
@jhysmath that doesn't get the side eye from me. Those are also normal human names. My dog's name is Kokomo. Let me name my child that. No. I had a cat named Tiger...well that is kind of a human name but no! lol
@curleemama32 I get what what your saying but my sister has no desire to have kids because "that would mean I would have to put the needs of someone else before me and why would I willingly want to do that" I feel like her not having kids is the most mature decision she has ever made. But i still feel bad for her dog.
@Saratiff Haha, poor doggo!!! I dislike selfish people, but good on her for making a mature decision, she would probably be a less then desirable mother!

That's how I feel about being a pet owner. I can't bring myself to take care of an animal to the level they deserve, so I won't do it. No matter how much my mother tries to convince me that J needs a dog. Nope. A dog deserves an owner that would A: remember to feed it, B: actually like it, and C: prioritize its health, at all. We're good at those thing with a mini person, but I SUCK at animals.
@cups4 my first is Cecilia so I may be biased but it is a beautiful name and we've only met one other Ceci. However make sure you are good with Simon & Garfunkel because everyone from my Dad's generation hears her name and automatically starts in, "you're breaking my heart..." which I don't mind but the actual meaning of the song lyrics is a little.... mature, lol. Also Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness - Cecilia And The Satellite makes me cry, because it's actually about a baby:
Gah, so glad talking about feeling movement is on the table now, haha! I keep thinking maybe, but dismissing it. Though this is my third and they say depending on placement of everything, sometimes STM+ can feel baby by the end of the first tri. I swear watching the screen during the NT scan I could feel some of the big jumps.
I thought I was feeling movement yesterday. I know I was feeling my pulse, but I think there was something else there too. And if I'm wrong? So what? It makes me happy and doesn't hurt the baby any.

FFFC on names: I haven't shared the girl name I like because I don't want anyone to steal it. It's a family name and I pray DH likes it. I'm waiting until we know the sex to talk names.
@charlestonchew I don't think that's crazy at all. Like I had mentioned I had OTHER people who were able to feel my son when I was 15 weeks and I had been feeling him for at least 2 weeks before. Everyone's body is different, and I would think having a full bladder could definitely amplify it

FFC: Growing up my baby doll name/imaginary friend was always Lucy. I was obsessed and my family knew that was my *name* if I had a little girl. Well, my sister decided for baby 4 that was one of her names... (she started having kids earlier and were 8 years apart) so my betchy 19yo self convinced my mom to name her new dog Lucy so she wouldn’t use it. I still cringe at how mean that was.

ETA: I have a million other girl names I like though, so it’s not a huge deal. I have a much harder time with boy names
