Since more and more are finding out the sex and the old post is getting pretty long, but still active-ish, put your potential baby names and discuss here!
I like older names. We are having a girl and the 2 names I had written down when we were TTC are still on the top of my list. It's funny how as second time parents, we know the sex even earlier than before but are not pushing names. H and I are both liking Eleanor (Ellie or Nory/Nori?) and Cecelia (Cece). I can tell he is leaning toward Eleanor but I like Cecelia better. The toddler has a more traditional name so both names work really well. Middle names are already decided and will be my maiden name.
I'll start. What are good nicknames for Raphael? I don't want to use Ralph. I like Raphy/Rafi but looking for something else. I heard "Rafe" once (rhymes with rape). That's terrible, right? Edited to clarify pronunciation.
I posted on the other thread, but DH really likes Amelia with Grace as a middle name. I like it a lot, too, but I wanted to go with something less popular. Although, we thought we did that with DS and in his class of 16 at school, there is another Myles spelled the same exact way, so obviously that didn't work out
He did ask me last night if there was a family name I would like to use, so I am going to do some digging and see. We are both much more flexible on middle names than first names.
This is, of course, assuming that the guess at the NT scan is right. We will know in a few more weeks. For boys, we liked Philip, Grant, Dean, and Gavin so far.
@cups4 I like Nora a lot as a nickname. DH suggested Cecelia, but I wasn't sold. I worked with one who was really grumpy- Think Roz from Monsters, Inc. Cece is a cute nickname.
@nanifrog we have a restaurant in our area that is owned by a Raphael, he goes by Raph/Raf. I also hate Rafe
Angel Babies 1&2 2/14/09 DS born 3/11 Angel Baby 3 6/28/11 9/5/17 BFP!! divorced October 2014 9/6/17 hCG 88 progesterone 9.1 (prometrium started) Married DH 10/15 DH's DS born 6/09 9/8/17 hCG 242!!! Not preventing since 11/15 EDD 5/8/18 Adjusted 5/15/18 TTC since 1/1/16 9/27/17 we have a heart beat!
My wife and I finally both agreed on Fletcher as a boy name we like, which is AWESOME since she has been totally dead set on Benjamin, nn Benji, for literally years, and I felt no connection to it. Not necessarily gonna use it, and don't even know sex yet, but I'm so glad she sort of likes something other than Benji! For girls, my top choice right now is Miriam, I think. Middle name is Leigh/Lee (for female/male) either way, after wife's favorite aunt who passed away.
**TW: Loss Mentioned**
Our last baby, if we had officially named her, would most likely have been Ingrid, but we didn't know her sex until after she passed, so we still call her Baby Bear. We both still really like that name, but it feels kind of weird to use it now...
We found out we are having a boy and as of right now his name will be Theodore (Teddy) Maxon. Maxon is a family name that is my dad's middle name as well and Theodore is the only boys name I don't dislike right now... so this may change, but probably not.
@lady_mormont18 I love Theodore! That would probably be my top boy name if one of our best friends' sons wasn't named Theo (since that would be our nn of choice). It's so cute!
Since we are pretty certain we are having a girl, that means names just got a lot harder! We agreed on boy names much easier. I still want to sell him on Isla or Emma, but he isn't really a fan of either. He hasn't really offered any name suggestions though. Now that we know the sex, we can start really talking about it.
@mileswithmyles, full disclosure, Amelia Grace makes me think of Amazing Grace. And for me, I could see our family forever singing her name like that. I do think they go well together, but that's what first popped in my head.
Just for clarification, this thread is for once we find out the sex (if we're not Team Green) and have names decided on? Or at least narrowed down to a few? Or is this just a continuation of the other name thread?
Me, 35 Hubs, 32 Married June 2012 BFP June 2013- blighted ovum, D&C Aug 2013 BFP Oct 2013- twins! A&H born May 2014 BFP Aug 2017- EDD 5/8/17
We have a boy name finally. Thomas Manning. But we can't even discuss girls names without fighting. Which is exactly what happened last time. DH only likes names in like the top 10 and I like things that are different but not out there. I have a super popular name (like SUPER popular. Like at least 2 others in the class popular) and I don't want to do that to my kid.
@sparklingdiamond I suggested Emma to SO about a week ago, and his response and that's a nickname for what? No, that's it, not short for anything. But I still love it. It is actually a family name for me, my maternal great great grandmother was named Emma Earth.
@mileswithmyles, I'm sorry! Just wanted to throw in an Internet stranger's first thought.I really do think it's pretty!
Last go I stressed hard about names and then they came a month early and all the stress seemed silly. DD didn't have a name for 8 hours and there were no problems with that. I wanted to meet and hold her to decide between 2 names, but due to being on a magnesium drip, I had to wait for my night nurse to sneak me to the nicu to finally hold my kids. I held her, looked at DH and said "you were right, she's a xxxxx". DS had a name since 16 weeks and his always felt right.
This time, I am not stressing about it at all. This baby will come home with a name and if it isn't until I get to hold them and look at their sweet face, then so be it. They'll have the name they were meant to have.
@cups4 A lot of cure nicknames for Eleanor. nanifrog My neighbor calls her son Rafi (spelling?) mileswithmyles I like Dean. abhphilly Fletcher is so original without being side-eyed. I like it a lot.
Husband picked Parker for our little girl. I like it because it is gender neutral. I am thinking Amity for teh middle name.
You guys I need HELP! My husbands family is all L names going back literally 7 generations. For my son it was super easy. I loved the name Logan and boy or girl he was going to be Logan, and so he is.
But it this baby - who is another boy - I have no idea for. No L name stands out to me as something I want to name my child. Of course I had a girl name, but that ship has sailed.
Part of me wants to rebel and name him Connor and say screw you in laws but my husband and his family take this tradition VERY seriously.
(I do actually love the name Liam but I just saw it’s the #1 name right now for boys... not sure I want to do that to him).

----------- Ugh stuck in the box! Even though Liam is really popular, I feel like it just depends if you personally know any or based on your own location. Liam is cute, and it goes well with Logan
We were team green with our first, and we're pretty confident that we're going to stick with that this time around as well. We have some name ideas, but I feel like some may be too different, and others too safe/boring? I kind of need help
Here are some names I’ve written down. These are in no order and some will get vetoed pretty easily when DH gets involved. We’ll have our first round of genetic test results by end of this week, which includes the sex (so crazy since we were team green last time). So I should probably just wait until then, but here’s my brain dump.
Talia (we aren’t Jewish so not sure if this would get side-eyed)

Juniper
Willow
Genevieve
Camelia
Eva
Cecilia
Natalie
Isla
Evelyn
Corrine

Charles
Landon

Calvin (this was our boy choice last time if we didn’t have a girl)
@Ceridwen77 I love the name Genevieve! So many good nicknames!
@abbykm7 we’ve talked about naming a boy William and calling him Liam! Maybe look into that and then his nickname can be Liam but he wouldn’t really be a “top 10” name (although I have no idea where William is at)
I’m having the hardest time deciding. I go back and forth every few days. We talked about Louise “Lucy” Lynn which uses both moms middle names and we’ve talked about Everett “Rhett” Lee but that sounds very southern to me and we tend to be more classic in our names. I love the name Rose and always have but don’t know how to fit it in! And Theodore has always been one of my favorites but now everyone is making their babies Theodore and calling them Theo and it makes me so sad! I’ve had it since I was like 12!

@cups4 i really like Cecilia (H vetoed) - do you mind sharing middle name (even though maiden) as it might be more helpful with suggestions.
@abbykm7 i know someone that just named their son Lochlan. I really like the name Lincoln.
@lady_mormont18 We have a friend with a son named Maxon (first name)
We will find out the sex later this week/early next week so I will post with our names later. If it's a girl, I will need serious help. Boy name already set in stone.

@sandbar517 I think narrowed it down or whatever you feel like

Girl:
Blair Elizabeth
Adeline Paige
Addison
Boy:
Luca
Benjamin
Weston (nn Wes)
We have two sons named
Owen Robert
Caleb William
so this is going to be so hard to come up with another boy name we love.
If we get a daughter her name will be Elizabeth after my grandmother and we will call her Ellie.
Middle name is still to be decided for Elizabeth. Henry will be the middle name for baby if he is a boy.
