Re: Anyone working out? I have a question.
Since I found out I was pregnant, I've only been doing yoga and hiking. I stopped my spin class but would like to resume after the first trimester. Unfortunately, my workouts have been sporadic the past year although I used to workout 4 to 5 days a week before that.
I don't have a heart rate monitor because I've never used one. I think one would be beneficial for pregnancy but I dont think I would ever use it again.
I would like a fit mom Friday thread for encouragement and inspiration.
@suchaglencoco I'm not really sure yet. Mostly taking it one day at a time. They told me to run on treadmills or tracks this time and I don't have easy access to a track so I'm on treadmill mostly. I HATE it. I get their purpose but I just like being outside. My last baby was due in Oct so I think I pushed myself harder because the weather was so nice when I probably should've been cutting back (May/June). My injury mostly came after baby but I had some hints at it before that I blamed on pregnancy and I think I pushed too hard/soon going back after birth. But I've had three rounds of super expensive injections and multiple rounds of physical therapy so I'm being extremely overly cautious now.
I'm definitely in for fitness check in.
@dee_ao I'm sorry about the zapped energy. I think the time is passing a little faster now that I'm working out again.
Are we thinking Friday for check in day? I have an awful memory and don't know what days we have a lot of threads starting and what days are bare. Also, anyone feel free to start it up on Fridays! Bad memory also leads me to forget what day it is, ha.
Are we leaning towards "healthy check-in, workout addition"? Just in case later we add in a healthy check-in for eating habits. Although, that one I probably wouldn't comment on because I love donuts too much right now.
Or I could be over thinking all of this right now due to lack of sleep.
Healthy check in sounds good to me. Eating will always be a struggle in pregnancy but a place to try to be accountable/supportive of making some sort of effort at healthy eating is nice to have! Friday sounds good too. The beginning of the week is front loaded with check ins.
After DD was born, we got into walking/ running. We ran 2 5ks, and one 10k. (It was over a year after the 10k that I started running again. lol. And by run, I mean barely faster than a speed walk. I'm slow.)
Last winter/spring I got back into walking/working out. But, around July when heavy wedding season picked up, I stopped. Hoping to get back into at least a weekly walk.

I was very, very inactive when I started my full time job when DD1 was 18 months. When I was pregnant with DD2, I had spd. It's basically when your hips start to open early. Not dangerous for baby, but beyond belief painful. I walked with a cane if I was even able to walk. OB said it's almost sure to happen again but I might be able to keep it from being quite so bad by exercising.
Also, this past January I decided it was time to stop making excuses and be more fit. We joined a gym and I've been going 1 to 2 times a week since January. I lost about 10 pounds and was feeling better. Definitely not teaching my heart rate or joining America ninja warrior, but healthier.
I planned to be committed to a water aerobics class, but today I went to a yoga class that was great physically and mentally. I hope I can make it to this one again. The focus was on gratitude and I ended the class feeling really grateful and not as grumpy as I've been lately.

My doctor said she has many marathon runners as patients and they go on as far as they can into their pregnancy until it gets uncomfortable. Ugh....I was on pelvic rest up until 12 weeks (2 days ago)....I started "trying" to workout again....and then the spotting resumed. Now I am paranoid and doctor has me back on pelvic rest. I am going to try swimming in hopes that it's the impact with my cervix and vaginal walls that causes the spotting. I''m also off progesterone in 2 weeks which I also believe is making my lady parts very raw and irritated which may also add to the spotting.
But way to go all you mamas that are continuing your healthy workouts.
