@Natinat6 It is actually almost a 90% rise! (So it almost doubled!) In the first weeks, hcg should double every 48-72 hours. How far along are you? FX that your doctor says it's fine!

I'm somewhere in my 5th week so I'm within the normal range for being that far along. They are having me come in again on Thursday because I'm a worried mess. We will schedule an ultrasound for the following week.

I thought it was a strict 2 day window for seeing the doubling. But if it's 48-72 hours I feel much better.   Thanks @dodoknits

@Natinat6 I know what you mean! I'm only doing this for the first time, so I'm a hot mess too.. I don't know how people can cope with all this stress and anxiety around numbers and ultrasounds.. Every time I get a result I'm already worried about the next one :D
But by Thursday you'll be checked and you'll know more! FX for you! I hope you get a good ultrasound result!

So I know this is a few weeks out for most of us but I’m wanting to see a discussion sometime on the Harmony/Panerama blood test. I think there’s several different names? STM’s have you had this done and if your insurance did not cover it how did you go about it being affordable and get your provider to order it? ... Most of us can’t afford the thousands they seem to be full price.
With DS2 I had the Panorama test done at 20 weeks after a heart condition was found and the doctors wanted to rule out any other potential birth defects (I turned down an amnio).  I had just found out about the heart condition and didn't bother looking to see if my insurance covered the test, I just did it.  Turns out, I got billed for $5,000 because the lab was out of network with my insurance company.  I was shocked.  After ranting to other mom friends I found out if I called the lab directly after receiving the bill and told them insurance didn't cover the cost that they'd lower the bill drastically without any fight/discussion.

The phone call was literally less than 5 minutes and I only had to pay $215 out of pocket.  This was in 2014.

@zamora_spin Did you get your 3rd beta results yet?
  • Options
@ChloandCoco No - I went to a lab so I won’t know until tomorrow. I would have had them faster through my RE but at this point it’s just me needing to combat the BSC and the independent lab is easier to get to.

@zamora_spin Ah, that makes sense. I'm getting my second beta results tomorrow morning and I'm starting to freak out. I was all good until my OB's office called and scheduled me to get another draw next week (which I had already scheduled). But now I'm wondering if they called because the number was low, or just because of my history. 8:30am can't come soon enough!

    Edit: I forgot the tag.

@ChloandCoco I’m sorry, it is so hard to wait for these stupid things! I thought I’d be fine waiting but I’m more anxious than I thought. Fx we have good rises.

These betas are so stressful. Just had my 3rd draw today. With the weekends and my work travel I haven't been able to go every 2 days but every 3. Hopefully some of @zamora_spin and @ffw0617 good number juju rubs off

@offtoneverland Thanks! I have my fx for you.
@nitinat6 They are so stressful to wait for, I am hoping the best for you.

Betas came in my first was 41 and my second is 110! So it more than doubled, but the nurse told me it's on the low side, so I need to go back next Wednesday for another draw.
  • Options
does everyone get betas? I haven't been sent for those. I had my first appointment and did a urine test and the nurse said I'd get a cbc blood draw.

@missylaneous419 I think betas are often for those that have a history of fertility concerns or a loss. I never had any early testing for my first pregnancy, but now get more testing since Ive had losses.
  • Options
@missylaneous419 Way back when with our very first pregnancy I didn't.  I don't think it's typically a routine thing.  I just called my doctor and even the lab once (against the rules) and made appointments to get my bloodwork done.  With my history, I want to know what's going on right away so I have called immediately to get in and get those done.

@bitzyg @PatientlyWaiting10 that's why I was wondering. I had a loss last year and I go to a high risk OB. I tried for 10 years with my ex husband and saw a fertility specialist. It's probably just me, I'm overly paranoid and anxious and jump the gun waaaay tooooo fast lol. I'm a new patient and waiting to see the actual doctor so I need to simmer the hell down. I know they're waiting on my medical records to be transferred to the office. Holy crippling anxiety, Batman.

@missylaneous419 I hear you on the anxiety. I’ve had all of the early tests, and all they are showing me is that this pregnancy is very borderline. I keep telling myself that what will be will be, and I can’t control it. Sometimes that helps, and sometimes it doesn’t do crap to help!  :|
  • Options
@missylaneous419  It is so hard to just sit and wait and wonder what's going on in there!!  SO HARD!!  Hang in there!

@bitzyg I'm sorry you've been "borderline" this whole time!  That is NO FUN!!  Positive thoughts and words always help me!  Even though sometimes just temporarily...

    (((hugs))) to you both.

If you want to get your HCG checked before your appointment, or even just for peace of mind, I recommend calling your doctor.
I called mine today because I'm an Anxious Ally and she put the orders in, but still wants me to wait at least a week, preferably two+. *shrug* It's usually really easy for the doctor to put an order in for you, so if you feel like it'll help you feel better, go ahead and call.

@izza2 I agree with what @zamora_spin said about HCG levels slowing down. My OB said after 6 weeks or once you reach about 10,000 it takes longer to double.
  • Options
@zamora_spin yes! I just had to learn about this hook effect the other day! I had one IC left and got this ridic idea to use it on tues (7+5). It was lighter! I cried for a half hour, telling myself my thoughts of it all being over was confirmed.... then googled and found that. Wasn't a believer, but after my apt today, I am!

I poas today too lol. It was instantly dark but I do remember hearing that they got lighter later on. I need my US on Tuesday to be here now, it's been 9 days since my blood work and I need some more evidence.
  • Options
@ffw0617 I feel exactly the same way! I just left my physicians office who made me feel crazy requesting hcg levels so early (DD is June 24th) I also asked if there was anyway I could get an early ultrasound and that was a big fat "NO". So grateful and excited but anxiously waiting for more solid confirmation than POAS! Anyway, thank you for your post, it's comforting to hear I'm not alone in feeling this way!

I hate TB app now because I can't love tit or post. It's been like 4 days, it should be fixed by now.

@zamora_spin - That was my thought; I'm having anxiety not knowing what's going on now. It won't help my anxiety to wait until the days before my appointment to get BW done. Her response was literally that if I get them done too early they'll "still be low", like that's not obvious? I told her I wasn't worried about them being "too low", I just wanted to see if the doubling time was appropriate... Like, one blood draw tells you if you're in range, but that doesn't really tell you all that much.

@izza2 Yeah, I mean, “low” is so relative. You are totally right, the way they are moving is much more important. I hope you’re able to get in soon to get some peace of mind.
