Does anyone have any reliable resources on essential oils and pregnancy? I typically only use them in my diffuser but I know you can put them in water for flavor or apply them topically with a carrier oil. I know research is limited and claims are not regulated so it can be hard to sift through the BS to find quality information.

"Dear Lord, I would have loved to have held my babies on my lap & tell them about you, but since I didn't get the chance, would you please hold them on your lap & tell them about me?" All are welcome!
@krashke I love essential oils! But def be careful with them in pregnancy. Even the super hippie dippy crunchy folks I know (cough, my mom, cough) are very, very cautious about using them during pregnancy, and I've noticed even the super natural epsom salt things I use have warnings on them for pregnant women if they have essential oils in them.
@krashke I am actually getting a book on using essential oils pregnancy and another with baby from my friend Wednesday. I can let you know what it says if you want.
Okay dumb question. I stopped nursing about a year ago but my left boob keeps feeling like I am having letdowns (argh) and I had a wet spot on my nipple. Totally could have been from something else but could I be leaking this early in pregnancy?! Seems crazy but maybe not since I nursed (somewhat) recently?
Does anyone have any book recommendations in general? Basically pregnancy or postpartum basics that just might be comforting for a FTM who doesn't know much about anything just yet, and is super overwhelmed. I'd like to know more before I start asking tons of questions and I'm headed to a bookstore tomorrow and thought about picking something up.
Also has anyone started a pregnancy journal? Or are there any STMs that have done one in the past? I saw one and I thought it was a cute idea.
@chocomom2 my ob asks about any nipple discharge at 8 week us. I'm not a doctor so you should call and ask them but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilty.
So I have a really random question to anyone who lives near Disneyland (or any other theme park). I have an annual pass and DH and I go a lot. Are the warnings about not riding the big rides while pregnant more about later trimesters? Better safe than sorry? Maybe it's just wishful thinking to think I can go on guardians anytime soon..

@chocomom2 I've been getting the same letdown feeling! it almost always happens on the side that DD nursed from most often. I did notice one time that I had leaked a bit.. but I only stopped nursing 4 months ago, and I know I do still have a bit of supply if I hand express, so I'm not too worried
@Amphibious22 ~ Nope. Early trimesters too. Sorry. You should wait until after June to ride it
during my first trimester with DS, we had a preplanned trip to DL and it was definately a bummer not to ride the rides. So I get it. But definitely better to be safe
@BurlapandLace yeah I kinda thought that might be the case. I just feel a little guilty paying for the AP, but I agree, definitely better to be safe. I'll just eat all the delicious Disney food instead

@PatientlyWaiting10 - My office is small and doesn't really have a maternity leave policy. I took 12 weeks and ended up asking for an additional 4 weeks halfway through. I received short term disability for 6 of the weeks technically (they actually only pay 5) and 3 weeks of paid vacation.
@becca_123 Expecting Better is the best book I read about pregnancy. It deals with everything in a very scientific manner, but it is very easy to read. Highly recommend.
@becca_123 With DD I wrote in a book called "The Belly Book". I really liked it! It was really fun to go through when I was pregnant with DS, especially since it was 6 years later! I could go back and compare things between the two pregnancies.
@ffw0617 I'm glad you are starting to supplement!! Are you doing an oral or suppository?

@PatientlyWaiting10 oral. I’m not having a good day :-( I keep thinking about the lost of symptoms on Friday. I can’t wait to go to the doctor next week this is so frustrating
@ffw0617 I'm sorry. That sucks. Big time. I'm on oral also. Just remember you're still early so a lot of times this early there aren't a lot of symptoms!! Hang in there girl!!

@PatientlyWaiting10 - At my workplace we can request up to a year off, but the 12 weeks of FMLA and then whatever time off I’ve accrued is all that will cover things financially. I took 6 months with my DD and ultimately decided not to go back FT and was working only 2 hours a week to keep my foot in the door. (I tried to quit altogether, but this was the solution they offered me.)

I would love to know what the title of this book is! My library patrons interest in essential oils is surging I this sounds like it could be a great addition to our collection!
@PatientlyWaiting10 I’m going to stay positive. How are pregnant women not bat shit crazy?!?! I’ve never felt so out of control, desperate for clarity, happy, sad, excited, depressed, enthused & disappointed all at the same time in my life.
STM’s - have any of you done low carbs while pregnant with permission from your OB? I was trying to do low carbs but after some research I am seeing a lot of competing opinions on the safety of it (leaning more towards unsafe/not healthy). I plan to talk to my OB but my appointment isn’t until the 25th so I was curious if any of you have done it.
@pippi0606@marcus7676 I have just ordered both those books on Amazon, thanks for the tips!
@PatientlyWaiting10 I'm so glad you said that! Before I had even read your reply that was the one I decided on and ordered - it looks like a fun journal to keep up with and look back on!!
@becca_123 I write(well type actually) in my fertility app called Ovuview. It has a notes section and a symptoms tracking for all kinds of stuff... Anyway I've been using the app for like 4 or so years regularly and love that I can scroll back and see what I was thinking, feeling, etc with just a swipe. It tracks all things fertility, pregnancy too. So works well for me.
@knitsandgiggles here is the picture of the book the lady sent me. I pick it up tomorrow.
@Amphibious22 I have a Disneyland pass too and I’ve been wondering the exact same thing! Atleast I’ll be getting my steps in just walking around the park hahaha
@Miz_Liz this is my first pregnancy and def talk to your OB but just remember fruits and veggies (esp white fruits like apples and bananas) are full of carbs. A lot of time we think bc we aren't eating simple carbs like rice, bread and potatoes we're not getting carbs, you'd be surprised how many carbs you get from fruit and nuts.
@Miz_Liz Have you looked into Carb cycling? Chris and Heidi have been doing it forever and they have the show extreme weight loss. it's more learning to eat healthy and they have different levels. Heidi has done it through her last pregnancy.

As in Pratt? As in those people from The Hills...?
@Miz_Liz I am keto and plan on continuing through pregnancy, barring any food aversions or morning sickness. I am insulin resistant so eating low carb is better for me. I started originally to lose weight to potentially get pregnant and I’ve already talked to my dr about being able to continue throug pregnancy . She said there was no issue with it. My first appt is coming up so I’ll definitely be revisiting it with her.
Anyone have any recommendations for a good skin care line during pregnancy? My skin has gotten HORRIBLE! I’m breaking out so bad! I did a quick google search and a brand called The Spoiled Mama- anyone ever use that? It’s pretty expensive so I don’t want to buy it if it isn’t a good product that works. TIA!
@Miz_Liz I think a lot of drs that don’t know a lot about it get kinda squirrelly hearing low carb. Presenting it to them saying you aren’t eating processed sugar, processed foods, sticking to Whole Foods and healthy fats makes them feel better for some reason. Essentially that’s all it is anyway.
@emjeve My skin was breaking out like crazy in my TWW before I got my BGP. I have struggled with acne since the 6th grade and I found what works a couple years ago so I just went back to being religious with that. A few things that are game changers are:
@emjeve@krashke just a heads up about the Clairisonic - it doesn't work for everyone. I looooved it at first, but then it gave me the craziest cystic acne of my life which is apparently something that is fairly common? I don't know, my skin was way too sensitive for it, which I was really really sad about because I loved the process of using it. and people love using the makeup brush attachments with it!
For products, I'm Drunk Elephant obsessive. I have v dry skin, and it's the only thing that has helped longterm.
