1 year later still not pregnant- Time for help?

Hi All!

I have not posted on here before but I am at my wits end and hoping someone can help! We've been trying for a year now with no luck. I do have anovulation from time to time, my progesterone is low. However, some months I test average so we have not started Clomid yet. I went to my gyno yesterday to discuss, she wants me to have my tubes tested and his sperm tested. I'm really frustrated at this point and I am wondering if it's maybe something I'm doing wrong? I'm using clear blue kits and preseed every month . Is there any other "natural" things you ladies are doing to try to conceive? Anything that worked for your last pregnancy? If/when we finally conceive it will be our first. I appreciate your help!

Here's a tip: When you visit a message board and there is a thread that says "Read this First" you should read that first.

But after a year of trying, yes, you should seek the help of an RE. Your gynecologist is not a fertility specialist.

Lalala not really understanding the hostility. I did not see the "read this first" thread. Next time I will look through first. After a year of being on here I impulsively logged on to post this. That being said, I am going to see a specialist to get the tubes test done. I was asking for anything women have sworn by when TTC as I have to wait 3 weeks to have this test and another 3 months for hubby to get tested since he just started a new job.

OP, most of the women here are trying to conceive for the first time, so do not have a "sworn by" method to TTC. Or we would be onto our BMB's by now. If you are not temping, I would recommend that for sure. And possibly pick up a copy of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".
The ladies here are a wealth of knowledge and extremely supportive, however it is a "give support, to get support" community. Introduce yourself, get involved in the dailies and get to know everyone. You wont be disappointed that you did. If not, best of luck to you.

@sammyjam1101 Welcome, this board if full of a bunch of incredible women, many of whom are also, unfortunately, struggling to get pregnant. Generally one-off posts like this are frowned up because if everyone made one, the board would get cluttered. My advice if you plan on staying on this board is to read the pinned posts, lurk for a bit to get a feel for the culture here, and introduce yourself in the appropriate weekly thread.

As for TTC, go meet with the RE (reproductive endocrinologist), they will most likely get several vials of bloodwork and have a couple other tests (HSG and SA for example). This will give them an idea if there is any kind of issue that is preventing you from getting pregnant. We do have a weekly IF (infertility) thread that you are welcome to join when and if you are ready.

Considering that this board is full of women who are trying to conceive and bring home a baby (and many have been for long periods of time), no. No one here has the magic answer.
Eta: because is we did, we wouldn’t still be on this board.

@sammyjam1101 Hey there, I agree it's probably time for assistance. Just read the thread @lalala2004 mentioned. There's some really good info in there with some recommendations for things to help in TTC process. Then write up an intro on this week's introduction thread so we can get to know you and your story. This community is great for giving and getting support through this process....and a touch of humour and snark along the way. Stick around. You will learn tons about your body, and there really isn't a better community to be with when you're going through the testing phase for possible issues...

@lalala2004 gave you two good tips. If you are looking for a magic method to get pregnant, you came to the wrong place since we're all in the same not-pregnant boat.

The World Health Organization defines "infertility" as "a disease of the reproductive system defined by the failure to achieve a clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse.”

It's been a year. You have low progesterone and occasional anovulation. Get thee to a reproductive endocrinologist. Don't just go for testing and then go back to your OB. Go get a full work up from a reproductive endocrinologist. Begin treatment, not with your OB, but with a reproductive endocrinologist. That's the method most women who get pregnant after infertility swear by, not pomegranate juice or pineapple core or supplements or any of that other un-scientific garbage. Science. Doctors. Doctors who know science.

@lalala2004 personally I love your "hostility"!
If that's what we're calling hostility these days no offense OP but you're gonna have a real bad time around here. She didnt go "oh.em.gee. you just need to spin around 8 times and be facing the north wall of your house whenever you hump and you'll get KU." Cause that's not the way it works (at least not as far as I'm aware, but who knows, I've never been KU) but she did point you in two very good directions. How is that hostile in any way, shape, or form?

Trust us, we understand the frustration 100%. But we respond much better when people get to know us, read the rules, intro, lurk, etc before being all "hey random strangers help me and I'm just here for you to answer my question and never coming back" (not saying that was your intention, but that happens A LOT and that's how your post came off).

We give support to get support here. It's kinda our jam.

But stick around, read the rules, intro, jump into the dailies. There's a ton of awesome ladies to learn from and commiserate with.

My sure-fire way to get KU was to see an RE, complete all the tests they suggested and pursue infertility treatments, because I had been trying for 12 cycles with no pregnancy and had symptoms of reproductive issues

Honestly OP, I just can't today. But, agreed with PP to go see an RE, get a whole makeup of tests done, and work with the RE (NOT your OB).
Also, please introduce yourself in the newbie thread and join the weekly IF board if you want to GIVE and get support, which sounds like it could be immensely helpful on your journey and with your questions. Or please just PO.

OP - as PPs have stated, yes. FU with the RE, get the tests. Read the Read This First posts and get to know how we do things around here.

We get it, we really do. But if you're dealing with IF, there is an awful lot of waiting that comes with the territory, and no magic bullets. We don't know what's going on in your particular situation, in your and your Hs bodies, and only time will tell where your journey may lead. GL

No hostility: Just frustration, as that thread would have answered your questions.

Why do you have to wait 3 weeks to have your fallopian tubes checked? I have Kaiser HMO and I can get that test a week from now. What insurance do you have?

Why would his having a new job mean he cannot get tested for 3 months? My DH has new projects all of the time and works very long hours at various companies. He was able to get up early, put sperm in a cup, drive it to the lab prior to work.

I highly recommend getting yourself a copy of Taking Charge Of Your Fertility. It will save you some insane stress as well as save you guys from making costly mistakes.
