  • Omfg @kyrwyn I am dying laughing at this picture in my head. Hilarious.

  • @breezybee She's such a ham. She knows she's not allowed to do certain things, so she does them super slowly with the most guilty look on her face and then pretends it wasn't her.  I was laughing too hard to discipline her this morning, so I'll just wash snoogle's cover when I get home.

  • Speaking of last minute... I was just reading the "things to do" thread and saw multiple people mention hostess gifts.  I honestly had no idea this is a thing!  What is usually given and is this done publicly at the baby shower or after or...?
  • @Amber_Waves I think hostess gifts must be regional because I've never given one/been given one. I always write a nice thank you note and that's all that's ever been expected. I would assume you would give it to them after guests left? Not sure but that would make the most sense to me.
  • @skcobb @amber_waves I'd never heard of a hostess gift either. My mom, SIL, and aunt (I think) are throwing my shower and I plan to just right them thank you notes.
  • @Amber_Waves I’m just giving my shower throwers $10 to Starbucks in a thank you note. But I’ll also send them a separate thank you note if they get me a gift too.

  • I did hostess gifts after my bridal shower, which was hosted by my mom and sister. SIL also made and sent the invitations. I wrote the three of them thank you cards and also gave them each a bottle of champagne (my shower was brunch and bubbly themed). It's the same planning committee for my baby shower and I'm probably going to do thank you cards plus bottles of wine or something. Nothing too crazy but it's just a little extra something special.

@Amber_Waves i'm also registered on Amazon and have been loving stalking the registry. It's not the end of the world but I hate how the Amazon registry is laid out when you look at it on your phone. If you're on the desktop website or on the app it is organized by category and looks great, but if you are on the mobile site, it's sorted by when the item was added and looks messy. Oh well. I did love registering there though because you can see the rating for all the items.

  • @Amber_Waves  I think I posted this somewhere else, but I didn't get hostess gifts for any of my bridal showers back in the day, and it's been haunting me ever since! So, I knew baby shower hostess gifts were something I wanted to be sure to do.  If it makes a difference, none of the hostesses in either scenario were family-- it seems less necessary when it's family.

I had 4 older hostesses at the first so I got some cute potted succulents and a thank you card for each of them.

The second was two girlfriends, and I was going to get them wine and a card, but I found out a couple days before the shower that one of them was pregnant soooo I did a little gift box with chocolates and nail polish and lip gloss and a card instead.
  • @breezybee  how are things going with the wild fires? is everyone safe in your area?

@anewadventure dude the wildfires are going crazy. They’re only 7% contained and just destroying everything. It’s so sad. We have a ton of friends who have lost their homes, but we also have a ton of friends who are organizing donation drives, etc, which is great to see. The wind is picking up again today, which is going to drive the smoke my way, so my husband and I are going to go to the coast and get some lunch and go to the pumpkin patch to get a little breather. Although, there’s not really anywhere you can go that doesn’t have a faint hint of campfire smell. Basically, it really sucks and there should no end in sight.

ETA: we’re safe for now - the fires are about 20 miles away. Hopefully that’s far enough, but I’m not so sure. My husband thinks we’re fine. We’ll see.
  • @breezybee That's so awful to hear about your friends. :( When there was a fire in the gorge here this summer it was even farther away than 20 miles (like 40+) and the air quality was awful so I'm glad you're going to get away from it for a while!

  • @breezybee Yikes- that's so scary/sad. My heart goes out to all those affected by the fires.
  • @breezybee Ugh, I'm sorry to hear your friends are losing their homes to the fires and I hope it stays away from yours. It's so scary and sad watching the news coverage, being a lifetime east-coast-er I literally cannot imagine being in that kind of situation.

  • I've definitely posted things like, "Baby's first _____" when it was my first time doing something that basically everyone has done before. I never would've assumed whoever was posting it was pregnant in the past. Since getting pregnant, I've seen two people do it (example, today: "Baby's first crossfit class!") and I immediately think, "She's pregnant?!" before I get it. Lol. It's kind of funny how being pregnant has changed how I view random things like that.

  • Can anyone explain to me how the Pampers rewards stuff works?  Maybe it's just because it's Friday, or I'm really dumb, but I can't figure it out.
  • @elcd458 you just download their app. Scan your reward code. They also have codes on the back of pampers wipes. You save up for years (seriously 26 months and there’s still nothing good I want) and then you redeem them. We’re saving for a box of diapers. Also when you join, they’ll randomly email you free codes for Shutterfly and things like that.

  • Thanks guys. I’m back in my house now hiding out for the rest of the day. Everything’s covered in drywall dust from my remodel, so it’s not much better lol.

  • Tomorrow we have a wedding to attend and it's supposed to be 80 degrees.  I'm debating on whether I should wear stockings or actually attempt to shave my legs....neither of which appeals to me right now lol.

  • @Marley629 ix-nay on the ockings-stay. Maxi dresses for the win. Or you can just shave to your knees. I cheat that way a lot.
  • Lol @babybison that's the way I went. My dress is knee length so it's the only answer lol
