@sapphire86 I took clomid for 3 rounds and the most annoying thing about it for me we're the jot flashes at night. I don't function well without a lot of sleep so that was a struggle. Although with so many other things happening the lack of sleep wasn't all directly related to the clomid.

It's taken me all morning just to get through this thread so I'm thinking of everyone but can't go back to tag right now - except @AlohaKumu - that us looks amazing and I'm so excited for you.
The girls who just started clomid - I never had any side effects but everyone is different. Don't go looking for side effects and hopefully you won't find any.
Diagnosis (If you've been): DOR
Cycle/CD: not a thing these days

How are things going? We got some good news on Friday that the donor passed all her screenings and everything looks good. We are working on finalizing the legal stuff and then we will get our calendar - hopefully next week.
Any questions?
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? I would go to Paris for 8 weeks alone and have my husband come and visit every other week. I would take an intensive language course, visit all the museums, shop and eat.

Thanks for all of the feedback ladies. It really helps. @zwink1 the things you mentioned are exactly why I have anxiety about adding the med. @50Wife I'm anxious because I'm predisposed to anxiety and I manage my anxiety with yoga, deep breathing and cognitive restructuring. So the idea of adding a med that could potentially impact my mental health has impacted my mental health. I try to think about the fact that I have coping skills to handle mood changes. So I'm working right now on telling myself that I am just creating this anxiety. @AlohaKumu I'm so happy to hear that you're happy. Can wait for the report on the ER. So cool that they let you have a pic of the follies. @Sailing_Mama hope you get your HSG results soon and that it is all good news! let us know. @KristoKekerooni so excited that you have a plan. January will be here before you know it! @shortstack930 right now I'm under the OB, after 2 more cycles we will be referred to the RE. @safire3 & @darkstar42@adirat we have done some testing. I had an HSG and DH did the SA. both were fine. it seems it is the bw that I have to wait for the RE to get done. My area has 2 REs in one office, they split their time among several cities. I am very, very fortunate to have some coverage for IF thanks to my new job, but it is limited to a specific RE office. So they work closely with the OBs to do some of the "preliminary" things. I know some OBs in town actually do IUIs in their office, but the RE's office will store the sperm until the procedure. @kiwi2628 thanks! that helps. Glad you're feeling better emotionally. I also have some travel envy going on right now! Have the greatest time in Morocco @safire3 GL with prepping! @BusinessWife yay! for having a date set! I'm super excited for you. @adirat remind me when do you get the pgd report? @darkstar42 New Zealand is unbelievably beautiful. I told DH that it just didn't seem real. GL w/the consult. What day next week? @emmasemm great advice about getting the DH involved. Thanks! I'm so sorry last cycle did not go as planned. Hugs to you. @rallykat14 Transfer on Thursday! so exciting! GL. @sapphire86 glad to hear things are going well on clomid

@emmasemm - it's a festival in Wisconsin Dells (called Dells on Tap). Any Chicagoland ladies on this forum may know of the area. The Dells is the water park capital of the country. Fun fact The Dells and Cocoa Beach, FL are my two favorite vacation destinations. We're planning to hold our "dibling" (donor sibling) gathering in the Dells next summer so we'll be touring Great Wolf Lodge to see if that would be the best place and get booking! I'm excited!
And changing topics...
I have a general question for everyone regarding IVF. What is the timeline? How many days from start to finish does it take for a fresh cycle? From my understanding the first step is BC to regulate the cycle, then lupron? What does that do? Then you start stimming for like, a week to 10 days, right? Then retrieval, fertilization from 3-5 days, then transfer?
I tried asking Google and didn't get any conclusive information would help to hear from people actually doing it since the stock answer I'm getting is "it depends." And yes, I realize it depends on everyone's individual cases, but just generally it's nice to know how much time one dedicates to a cycle.
@Avrilmai Well it's good you've gotten some testing out of the way. I hope Clomid is all you need It'll take another week or more to get the PGD report...I was told "15-20 days" then "10-15 days" then "15 days or so" so it's all a mystery.
@wishiwaspreggo The reason it depends is because...it depends. There's no better answer. Every protocol is different. Some people don't do bcp first. Some people don't do lupron first. Some people do both. The number of days you have to take stimulation medication depends on how you respond, so it could be as little as 1 week or as many as 3.
Sorry it's been a while, but I am finally back from vacation and bump break!
Diagnosis (If you've been): Unknown RPL
Cycle/CD: CD 32. Waiting for AF any day now.

What are you doing this cycle?
(Testing? Treatment?) You guys, I'm actually going to DO something this cycle, I think! I called up my RE and said that I wanted the stupid progesterone biopsy, despite still being fat (aka, not hitting some stupid weight target thing). So... they said to call them up on CD 1 (not sure why?), and then to call them when I get a positive OPK to schedule the biopsy for about 10 days later.
How are things going? I'm excited and nervous to be off of the bench. But I'm really just ready for some answers and trying again. I'm in a funk today because I didn't get a job I applied for and really wanted. So the realization that I've spent over 2 years applying for jobs in other units of my agency and over 2 years trying to have a baby, and I feel stuck in the same rut with both of these things is upsetting me. Just trying to stay calm and keep working on it I guess.
Any questions? Has anyone had a progesterone biopsy?

How are things going? better than last week. I was so distracted with class that I didn't have time to be sad! I just want next cycle to start already. I really cleaned up my diet becuase my stomach was really bugging me and I went clean vegan for the past 5 days and I feel great and dropped a few pounds too!
Any questions?
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? I'm with you @redpuma119 and @beachbunnyxo123 GREECE!! I have wanted to go since my first boyfriend and I started dating at 15. He is Greek, so I guess that is where it came from. The town I grew up in has greek diners on every corner so I grew up eating it too I guess.
@beachbunnyxo123 I had a hysteroscopy before my ER cycle and I felt like it was similar to my STP which is similar to the HSG that everyone gets. I just stood up and all the fluid came pouring out and it looked like I was peeing. Awesome. Mine was also in house and no BCP.
@Avrilmai I had hot flashes for the first two weeks and then a week of depression, but I've swung out of it now. I am not usually the depressed type. They also canceled my cycle and I had a funeral, so I can't separate if it was clomid or just life. I didn't get hormonal crazy on it though.
@alohakumu So excited for your ER! It is exciting to finally feel like you're doing something! I feel like MFI sort of leaves us in the dust until the real action starts happening and then you feel like you're moving in the right direction!
@KristoKekerooni I bought enough to get me through each appointment. So I only bought like three to four days at a time. When I knew when my ER was going to be, I bought until that day. I didn't really feel like I needed to keep track of it otherwise. I just sort of remembered and knew what my stock was. I feel like it was so important that it was at the front of my brain every second of every day and I was watching the clock all night to stab myself with some needles!
@rallykat14 aka Leekat! Welcome back and how exciting for transfer this week! Been thinking of you!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) finishing up with progesterone
How are things going? I had my follow up with my RE today It's a novel so I'll put it in a spoiler
My AMH was a 7.17. She said 2.0 is normal for my age. Anything above a 4.0 shows ovulation dysfunction (I have too many eggs. I guess that's a bad thing). So even though I don't have any other symptoms and my glucose test came back fine, I have a form of PCOS. Since my progesterone was low, and I ovulated over the weekend, they're having me take a progesterone suppository (and luckily the nurse mentioned that my discharge would be the color of the pill. I prob would have freaked out). They said on day 14 to take a hpt. If it's a bfn, to stop taking the progesterone. Then on cd1, I'm to come in for an ultrasound. I'm going to start taking Letrozole (I asked the difference between that & Clomid. She said these side effects (hot flashes, mood changes & vaginal dryness, headaches). are shorter because it's only in your body for 40 hours vs 7 days). Them I'm going to have to do one injection of Ovidrel and bd the next 3 nights. (Which should be interesting because H can't normaly go 2 days in a row).
If this doesn't work, we're going to move on to IUI. But then I was thinking. Of course I would LOVE to have a baby whenever I could. But bring on maternity leave at the beginning of a school year teaching first graders isn't the beeeeest time. If I get KU the next two months, id be missing the beginning of the year. So I'm thinking maybe 2 TI cycles? But then it's $450 more for an IUI. Would it make more financial sense to just do that (is it wasting money on an IUI?)
**TW** I asked about my clear HSG & the ectopic. She said an HSG can only show the tubes are open, not if the tubes are normal. So that could still be my issue and if I ever get a BFP I have to come in right away because there's still a 20% chance I'll have another one. (That seems so high!) **end TW**
It looks like the TI will be around $475 (not including the Letrozole and Ovidrel. And if I only need one follie check).
They were supposed to repeat my thyroid test but totally forgot. I'll ask when I go in on cd1. And H has a repeat SA on Friday.
Any questions? How bad is leakage from the progesterone? Like I should wear a pad? Has anyone paid for Letrozole & Ovidrel OOP? If do, how much was it?
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? Oh so hard!! I love to travel and there's soooo many places I want to go. Right in this moment, if I had to choose, it'd be an over the water bungalow in Tahiti with my H. I really just need some relaxation & to get away from it all.
@Avrilmai I haven't used any meds yet, but I don't get why they can't finish your testing now.
@AlohaKumu I'm so excited for you!! It's so close! And I've never seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show but I've always wanted to see it with a bunch of people where it's interactive!!

I got to see my favorite RE again and she found a few big, fat 19mm follies, which means we are at trigger time! She said they would call me later today with my retrieval time for Thursday. Yay!!!
@JuneRoseRuby Yes, that’s absolutely how I’ve felt. It seems like it takes so long for each little step along the way! I’ll be looking forward to seeing the news for your next cycle.

@purplg8r Thank you for sharing the details of your RE appointment! I had no idea about the high AMH levels! Mine is 5.72, and my ob/gyn just said it was within the normal range. I know high levels are associated with PCOS, but I've never had any symptoms, and I seem to ovulate regularly. Adding this to my list of questions for the RE next week. Can I ask what your progesterone was and when it was measured? I'm concerned that mine is towards the low end as well.
@purplg8r Wow, that's a lot of information from your appointment! I'm surprised by the AMH comment as well - mine is 4.43 and my RE was (really really) excited about that for my age. How are you feeling about it all?
@purplg8r I had insurance coverage for my IUIs but my insurance didn’t like the dose of letrozole they were giving me so they wanted a pre-auth. Instead of wasting time and doing that, I just downloaded the GoodRX app and used that. I think I paid about $10 per cycle for letrozole without using my insurance.

@purplg8r wow lots of info to take in! I'm glad they're covering everything and try not to get caught up in that 20%! Re: progesterone...mine mooooostly comes out in the morning (I'm only taking it once each day before bed). So when I go to the bathroom first thing in the morning it's almost all out-I hear it leak out separately *waves hi to the internet reading about my progesterone leaking out of my vag* I wear a liner for sure overnight and I usually try for one during the day just incase.
@JuneRoseRuby that's great that a change in your diet has you feeling much better...how hard is it though??? Like what are you eating? I'd be done at breakfast which is usually yogurt or eggs lol
@laurad75 so glad your donor passed!! One huge step closer!
@Avrilmai at least you're already trying to mentally prepare for the clomid to possibly F with you. I tried not to "create" side effects. I feel like it's also easy to hear women say oh I had XYZ while I was on it and you almost symptom spot for the same (not saying you would). Mind sharing more about what you do to help with your anxiety? Feel free to pm me if you don't want to share it all here.
@purplg8r so the progesterone suppositories... I have to do two a day. The night one isnt usually the issue. The morning one I try to get up early and put it and then lay back down. So far not too many major accidents but I do wear a pantyliner just in case.

@RVAmom315 Thanks!! It is my first IUI...I am kind of simultaneously excited and hopeful while also dreading disappointment and trying not to get my hopes up too high. But really trying to be zen and positive about it...
@rallykat14 My RE said that her patients have most commonly reported hot flashes as their main side effect for Clomid...so far I haven't had any of those, hope that continues! Today I felt a little dizzy/nauseous in the afternoon, but just for a few minutes, coming and going, and not too bad.
@avrilmai right there with you about the anxiety caused by fear of clomid causing anxiety....lol. But I think the fact that you already know what coping skills will help most for you is really good and should hopefully mean you'll be able to handle whatever it might throw at you.
@shortstack930 FX that Femara works for you! And I want to do that cruise too!!
@safire3 I so want to go to an all-inclusive resort on St Lucia!!
@BusinessWife November 17th is so close!! I'm so excited for you!!
@kiwi2628 I feel you on the weddings! I had one this past weekend. I did have one small drink since it was open bar. It was too hard to resist!
@RVAmom315 fx for you! AFM, I thought a lot of eggs would be good too. But maybe it's because they're all fighting for dominance which she said is why it takes me so long to O. I'm feeling hopeful but trying not to get my hopes up too high.
@tamalahoops that's a really tough decision. Maybe sit down and come up with a date that he needs to decide by.
@darkstar42 good luck at your consult! It will feel good to have everything explained! AFM, I ovulate but really late (this cycle on cd 1 was the earliest. But it's gone to cd 34). And when I did an us on cd10, they said they like to see about 8 eggs on each side and I had 20 & 21. For progesterone, I got tested on 7dpo. They said after O, they like the levels to be above 10 and if KU, above 20. Mine was only 5.
@sapphire86 I feel the exact same way - it’s my first too, and I’m excited anxious and nervous. I know the odds aren’t in our favor (due to DH’s 0 morph) but I feel good that we’re doing something. Two Clomid days down and still feeling ok - dull headache but not too terrible. Are you on anything after the Clomid? I’m doing 4 days of Gonal-F injectables
@Avrilmai is femara an option instead of clomid? It's supposed to have fewer side effects. I had a lot of anxiety on clomid but I also had a lot of really big life stuff going on at the same time
@wishiwaspreggo my RE says that their average fresh cycle time if you are doing BCP is 6 weeks from starting BCP to beta but it depends on your cycle, your meds, how you respond, how your embryos grow, etc
@purplg8r all you need to do is download the GoodRX app on your phone and put in your zip code and the medicine you are looking for with the dose. Then, it will pull up different pharmacies in your area and how much you can get it for there by using the GoodRX app. Pick one, go to the pharmacy with your RX and then show them the coupon and they will enter in the information and you will be all set. It's super easy, and all it's doing is by-passing your insurance.

Question: at my cd2 u/s this morning they saw a large hemorrhagic cyst on my right ovary. The nurse said it's from the ivf meds and they need to check my bloodwork before they can officially start me on estrogen for FET. I'm kind of freaking out. Should I be worried?
@adirat Take this with a grain of salt since I haven't done IVF and I don't know *as much* about it, but hemorrhagic cysts are exceedingly common in women, even ones not on fertility meds. When the corpus lutem (post-ovulatory cyst on the ovary that produces the progesterone) starts to degenerate, it can form into a hemorrhagic cyst. Sometimes, however, a HC can be functional, meaning it is producing hormones, and that hormone production is more likely to occur with fertility meds. Functional cysts are what you don't want when starting another medicated cycle, as it makes your hormones already out of wack prior to meds. I developed HC's on all 4 of my medicated cycles, but only one was functional. If they aren't functional, they continue to degenerate normally and will not affect your cycle at all. FX yours aren't producing hormones!

@purplg8r Thanks for the additional info! My progesterone at 7 dpo was only a bit above 7, so I definitely O'd, but it's on the low side. I haven't had an u/s yet, so I'm really curious what that will show.
@RVAmom315 nope, just the clomid for me. GL with the injectables! Have you had to do those before? Here's hoping the no/mild side effects continue for both of us!
@50Wife I don't mind sharing publicly (maybe there are some lurkers dealing with anxiety). So I've not be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, but that may be because I did not seek a diagnosis and I don't take medication. I try to use both behavioral coping skills and cognitive coping skills. For me the behavioral coping are things I do often and are almost "preventative," like yoga. It really helps me to have an hour of time where I don't think about anything other than breathing and going through the poses. I realize that yoga is not for everyone, so maybe some type of physical exercise. I think the biggest benefit is having the time devoted to doing something for myself despite other responsibilities. It can be hard to take time for yourself and I know people can view it as selfish; I view it as self-care and that is so important. I also watch something that will make me laugh, a sitcom is perfect for me because it is about 20 minutes and doesn't require a lot of thought. Sometimes when I start to feel anxious I do some kind of breathing exercise. The easiest one is breathing in through the nose while counting to 4, holding it for count of 4 and then out through the mouth for a count of 4. Some people just do 4s, others will breath out for 4, then 5, 6, 7, 8. It helps to interrupt the racing thoughts and makes your mind focus on counting. The biggest thing was first recognizing what my triggers are. For me it is recognizing what automatic, maybe even unconscious, thoughts are perpetuating the anxiety and this takes time. Once those thoughts are identifiable you can work to change them. Even if it means just focusing on the present and not thinking about what "might" happen. I heard a statistic once that over 80% of the things we worry/get anxious about never happen, so I work to remind myself that it is possibly wasted energy and if it does happen then I will deal with it then. Practicing mindfulness is a challenge. Like when I'm stuck in traffic instead of complaining about the traffic I work to tell myself at least you have a reliable car and focus on listening to whatever classic rock is playing on my radio. Again, not an easy change to make, and I'm working on it everyday. So for me with the clomid, I am working on telling myself, yes, it can cause increased anxiety/depression in some; you won't know how it will impact you until you take it. That is a thought that I can handle a lot better than telling myself, Clomid is going to send you in a tailspin.
That got long...happy to PM more if you want.

@Avrilmai thank you, friend! I do try the breathing in and out, but I don't associate counting with it so maybe I'll give that a shot next time. One of my main things is that I still don't know what sets me off which is kind of frustrating. Can be just walking through my living room, at a restaurant, work, supermarket, etc... I'll have to give yoga another shot. I did it for less than 2 weeks not long ago and it's not something that's typically my speed, but maybe I need that to slow down.
@Avrilmai very helpful tips! DH struggles with anxiety and didn't like the way the medication made him feel so he doesn't take it anymore. He started doing a yoga program about four months ago (he hardly ever used to exercise) and I'm amazed by how he has stuck with it, sometimes doing it every day of the week. He said it helps so much with his anxiety. I really hope you have minimal side effects from the Clomid but I'm glad you have some great coping strategies.

@sapphire86 I've never had any type of medication (fertility) before - it was a bit surprising that my doctor wanted to go that route the first time out of the gate, but maybe he figured with my age and issue (I am completely speculating - I didn't see him for my CD3 U/S so I didn't have a chance to ask) to just throw everything at it and see what sticks.
@beachbunnyxo123 That doesn't sound fun - hopefully they get it all figured out and have a game plan for you!
@zwink1 Can't wait for your update after your appointment next week!
@Avrilmai Hopefully you'll do well on the Clomid (or even better, not need it at all!) - you've got lots of support here for dealing with the side effects if you get some

How are things going? The HSG was rough... I was definitely in the minority who found the test very painful, and had pain for a few days afterwards. But, it's done and I finally got the results (NORMAL!!! YAY!!) and now am keeping my FX for some of that HSG magic
Any questions? Not at the moment

@50Wife@purplg8r I am already vegetarian and I have flirted with vegan throughout my life. So it wasn't too difficult. I already had a ton of vegan meals in my repertoire so I wasn't stressed. That being said, I made it a week and had cheese raviolis tonight because I think I'm getting a cold and I wanted some comfort food! Oh well. Can't win them all. I do feel good and detoxed though and I lost like 3 pounds in a week! Good thing I just ate three pounds of raviolis to replenish my body.

@safire3 & @darkstar42 @adirat we have done some testing.
Have the greatest time in Morocco
@safire3 GL with prepping!
@BusinessWife yay! for having a date set! I'm super excited for you.

@darkstar42 New Zealand is unbelievably beautiful. I told DH that it just didn't seem real. GL w/the consult. What day next week?
@emmasemm great advice about getting the DH involved. Thanks! I'm so sorry last cycle did not go as planned. Hugs to you.

"Some days are diamonds, some days are rocks,
some doors are open, some roads are blocked"
And changing topics...
I have a general question for everyone regarding IVF. What is the timeline? How many days from start to finish does it take for a fresh cycle? From my understanding the first step is BC to regulate the cycle, then lupron? What does that do? Then you start stimming for like, a week to 10 days, right? Then retrieval, fertilization from 3-5 days, then transfer?
I tried asking Google and didn't get any conclusive information
@wishiwaspreggo The reason it depends is because...it depends. There's no better answer. Every protocol is different. Some people don't do bcp first. Some people don't do lupron first. Some people do both. The number of days you have to take stimulation medication depends on how you respond, so it could be as little as 1 week or as many as 3.
Sorry it's been a while, but I am finally back from vacation and bump break!
Diagnosis (If you've been): Unknown RPL
Cycle/CD: CD 32. Waiting for AF any day now.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Benched.
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? Right now... anywhere far away from here! I love to travel, so any place relatively 'safe' would be fine by me!

@50Wife so excited for your Beta Friday!

I wear a liner for sure overnight and I usually try for one during the day just incase.

@emmasemm good luck on your follow up!
@rallykat14 my fingers are crossed so hard for you!! And hopefully since mine are at night, they won't be an issue either!
@AlohaKumu that's such a cool pic!
@sapphire86 hopefully the side effects stay away!!
@laurad75 yay for the donor passing all the screenings!!
@dpjennifer what is a progesterone biopsy?
@JuneRoseRuby way to go on being vegan! I feel like that takes a lot of strength
@adirat I'm feeling hopeful but trying not to feel too hopeful! And scared about giving myself the injection!

So for me with the clomid, I am working on telling myself, yes, it can cause increased anxiety/depression in some; you won't know how it will impact you until you take it. That is a thought that I can handle a lot better than telling myself, Clomid is going to send you in a tailspin.
That got long...happy to PM more if you want.

planning FET
"Some days are diamonds, some days are rocks,
some doors are open, some roads are blocked"
I do try the breathing in and out, but I don't associate counting with it so maybe I'll give that a shot next time. One of my main things is that I still don't know what sets me off which is kind of frustrating. Can be just walking through my living room, at a restaurant, work, supermarket, etc...
I'll have to give yoga another shot. I did it for less than 2 weeks not long ago and it's not something that's typically my speed, but maybe I need that to slow down.
@kiwi2628 thanks...I hope it doesn't get cancelled...

@purplg8r Ugh, I hate when key temps aren't reliable!
Diagnosis (If you've been): PCOS
Cycle/CD: cycle 9, CD15
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Testing - HSG last week, U/S on Saturday, and DH has his SA on the 26th
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? DH and I would go sailing in the Mediterranean.
