This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Re: IF testing & treatment week of 10/09
Might be posting and disappearing...we have some meetings scheduled this morning. ugh.
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI - Low Count
Cycle/CD: Cycle 17. CD23
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW! Beta is Friday the 13th!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Had my 3rd IUI a week ago today
How are things going? Ok, I've actually been busy so not much time to dwell on things.
Any questions? Nope!
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? Italy with my family. I want to see where my family is from and eat all of the amazing food, and drink the wine, and just sight see.
I'd also love to do a hut on the water somewhere with my husband...because duh. Look at those things!!
Hi ladies!
@50Wife Fingers crossed for this Friday!!
Diagnosis: PCOM, High prolactin, high amh, fragile x carrier
Cycle:/CD: 23 months, CD 21
Status: TWW
What are you doing this cycle: This was the last of 3 cycles on our own. I have been slammed at work and I know our timing wasn't the best.. So we will probably try another month before I schedule another sit down.
How are things going? Meh- there going. I'm glad that I've been so busy that there's been less stress this month.
GTKY: I really want to go to Greece!
Sorry for not being around last week. I was completely slammed at work and needed a little TTC breather but I did creep and love tit! Glad to be back!
Diagnosis (If you've been): unexplained
Cycle/CD: who knows 25 I think/ cd 19
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)
Natural cycle, was supposed to get the saline sono but they couldn’t get the catheter in so I was unable to do the test. Just tried on our own this month.
How are things going?
Eh. I’m still waiting for the call from the hospital to do the hysteroscopy. I thought it was just a test but my nurse keeps calling it a surgery. I still have no idea what the plan will be about my tilted uterus which means my cervix is curved hence painful IUIs and tests and that my doc is concerned during an FET under these conditions and not getting the catheter in. At this point we are looking at starting an IVF cycle in January after the holidays if not knocked up before then. In the meantime I read ISWTE and have started coqu10 and DHEA, replaces all cleaning products, body products, and no more plastic. Trying to eat on the diet my clinics nutritionist put me on to really work on my egg quality all in preparation. It’s alot but I’m finally motivated to stick with it. @kiwi2628 I saw some of your posts last week does this put you in the same timeframe with IVF?
Any questions?
Anyone have any info on a hysteroscopy? My RE is starting my on BCP for it which is upsetting I still don’t have all the information and am just confused
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why?
I would go to Greece with my husband! It’s so beautiful there and I’ve never been!
Edit-typo
Diagnosis (If you've been): OAT and some other random stuff.
Cycle/CD: month 32/CD23
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Nothing, waiting for our IVF consult next week.
How are things going? Things are fine. I have nothing of interest to add this week.
Any questions? Nope.
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? Hmmm, probably a Norwegian fjord cruise with H, I've always wanted to do one.
@redpuma119 always good to see you!
@beachbunnyxo123 I had a hysteroscopy before starting IVF because of my d&e complications. It was briefly uncomfortable because he had to use the cervix clamp thing to get the camera in (kind of like an especially bad pap smear), but overall much less painful than my HSG. I did not have to take BCP for it -- I think that's really weird. My RE did actually did the hysteroscopy in the office with no anesthesia, and we were technically allowed to try TTC that cycle afterward. I'm super confused why you would need BCP. Unless they're trying to put you on BCP now in anticipation of January IVF? But that definitely isn't necessary this early, either... I hope you can get some answers and some reassurance...

Sorry I kind of ghosted last week we went on vacation and I couldn't bump with the MIL looking over my shoulder. I'm going to do better this week
@50Wife I'm anxious for you for Friday. Glad to hear you're doing well.
@Redpuma119 I get the distraction helping. Hope you can keep the decreased stress
@beachbunnyxo123 I don't have answers, but I do have support. I'm sorry this is leaving you with more questions than answers. I hope you have answers soon.
@zwink1 a fjord cruise sounds amazing. What day next week is your consult?
Diagnosis (If you've been): none yet, I know someone asked last week and at this point they want to do 2 cycles with clomid before anymore testing. I find that frustrating.
Cycle/CD: 13/8
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) This cycle we're on our own, next cycle with clomid.
How are things going? Meh.
Any questions? I'm really anxious about taking clomid after reading about others experiences with it. can anyone ease my anxiety?
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why?
There are so many places on my list. I would go with DH and would want to go to either the Galápagos Islands or Antarctica because those are 2 places I want to go but they're not at the top of DH's list, so if they were free they might get bumped up.

@zwink1 how are you feeling about your IVF consult next week?
@adirat reading what you said I didn’t realize you could do it without anesthesia. My RE wants to use it which I guess maybe is why he is putting me on BCP because of the anesthesia? I’m pretty sure the nurse said something about going off the BCP after the procedure and waiting for my period and then we can start up again? Idk I have a phone consult with my doc before the procedure which is good cause I definitely have questions but I’m definitely disappointed and hope this doesn’t mess with our ability to still TTC while waiting for IVF.
@beachbunnyxo123 So, I am in a slightly different situation and I guess it's possible there's a medical reason they want to do yours with anesthesia (like if they are going to do something specific while in your uterus for the hysteroscopy). But it seems strange to me you would go on BCP first because that can change your lining, so would you even see what you want to see? I'm really glad that you are talking to the doc in advance so you can get all the info.
My situation, possible TW: I had a really complicated recovery from d&e including retained tissue requiring a second procedure, then had two super light periods afterward and I was concerned that there was some damage to my uterus from the procedures. So my RE said I should have a hysteroscopy to check for scar tissue/other damage, and if some was found, he would be able to address it and then give me a few months of hormone therapy before starting IVF. He did the hysteroscopy in the office without anesthesia. He told me that if the procedure discovered a problem, he could then give me local anesthesia while he worked on the scar tissue, which would not be comfortable but would be better than waiting around. I was fortunate and there was no scar tissue, but I was glad he gave me that option.
We could have probably TTC that night after it, but I was a bit crampy but other than that, there were no restrictions due to the hysteroscopy.
@Avrilmai - I've done 3 cycles of Clomid and it didn't impact my mental health at all but maybe I'm an outlier. I've heard of the "Clomid crazies" but that wasn't my experience. The only fertility medication that gave me symptoms was Prometrium.
AFM - meh. Hanging out. Planning. Researching. Gearing up for our beer festival this weekend which I'm excited about!
@Avrilmai, I also find it a little weird that they would just start you on Clomid before testing. Why cut into the lifetime limit? How do they know that the Clomid is going to help at all of they don't know what's wrong. In fact, the Clomid could potentially exacerbate a problem. For instance, in my RE's eyes, I'm ineligible for Clomid because I have issues with thin lining, which Clomid can exacerbate...but she wouldn't know that if she hadn't done testing first. Our consult is Tues afternoon next week.
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm sorry you're having a rough time getting answers from your RE. I'm still pretty anxious/nervous about our consult, though I still haven't figured out why I'm reacting this way. I have a list of questions that's currently 2 pages long for My RE, so at least I'm putting this nervous energy to good use, haha. My monthly IF group meets tomorrow, which is good timing. Hopefully they can talk me off the ledge!
I had zero issues with the clomid. My RE said I could get bad mood swings or headaches but I had neither. He also said if I did have headaches, to call them and apparently they could have switched me to something else? I had a perfectly fine experience on it. What is making you anxious? I also was, but I'm weird with meds of any type so I was a bit hesitant to take something like that.
@Redpuma119 I feel like I haven't seen you around in a while! I'm sorry about your timing this month, hopefully next month things will go better for you guys! Good luck!!
Sorry back to tag everyone else and make my own update later. Some thing called work suddenly got in the way!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) I have my ER this week! I have a checkup later today to see all my follies. I absolutely love these appointments and find it fascinating to see all the follies on the u/s. My IVF calendar said the ER might be on Wednesday, but during Saturday's appt, the doc said that the ER might not be until Thursday or Friday. We'll see what he says later today.
How are things going? I'm so ready for the ER. Early on in the stims process I wasn't feeling so hot, but I think that's because they put me on BC and I had to stop the pack right in the middle. Once AF showed up, I felt better, but now I'm feeling really full. Still, I'm in a really positive mood and I'm thrilled that I have over 20 follies that are ripening.
The other reason that I'm in such a positive mood today is that I got to have one of my random life "dreams" come true yesterday. I've always wanted to have a huge Rocky Horror Picture Show party and boy did it happen. We had about 20 people show up to our place yesterday, some veteran Rocky fans and others seeing it for the first time. Afterward, about a dozen people stayed to play Cards Against Humanity. Maybe the reason I feel so swollen today is that I was giggling for about seven hours yesterday!
Any questions?
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? I'd want to go back to New Zealand or maybe France once the Christmas markets open. DH hasn't been to either place, so I'd love to go with him. New Zealand is beautiful and I am obsessed with the Te Papa museum. There's also nothing like eating the amazing French crepes, drinking French-style gluhwein, and enjoying the spectacle.
@50Wife I can't wait to hear the results of your beta!@Redpuma119 I hope work is less stressful and you are able to nail (no pun intended) your timing.
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm so sorry that your doc isn't being clear about the information with your hysteroscopy. I really hope you get some clear answers soon, especially because I know you have been in such pain during your previous procedures. (But yes, ISWTE is totally amazing!)
@zwink1 Yay for your appointment next week! I can't wait to hear details.
@Avrilmai I don't have any experience with Clomid, but I'm still sending you good vibes.
@adirat Thinking of you!

How are things going? Now that we have a solid plan and the money laid out, I am feeling good. I try to keep focused on IVF being just a few months away without thinking too hard about what that means... because then I get super stressed out about all the what-ifs.
Any questions? for those IVFers, how did you stay organized with all the meds, etc during that time?

@Redpuma119 glad you've been a bit distracted from TTC!
@beachbunnyxo123 good luck with the hysteroscopy! I hope everything works out and that it isn't painful at all.
@Avrilmai that is a little strange that they want to do Clomid before more testing. Are you at an RE or an OB? Fx the Clomid works!
Diagnosis (If you've been): secondary IF due to endometriosis
Cycle/CD: 23/3
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Femara + Ovidrel trigger + IUI
How are things going? I'm kind of excited to move forward now that I'm post-surgery! I did a lot of reading up this weekend about Femara and how it's supposed to help with endometriosis so that made me really hopeful that maybe it could work for me. I'm kind of annoyed that I wasted three months taking Clomid and doing IUIs with that because apparently Clomid increases estrogen which basically feeds the endometriosis. But I guess there was no way of knowing that till I did the surgery and got my diagnosis so I can't really beat myself up about it. Glad to be hopeful again!
Any questions? Did anyone have any side effects on Femara? Clomid was terrible for me and I've been referring to it as the devil drug but supposedly Femara is supposed to have less side effects.
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? Mediterranean cruise! I was actually looking them up the other day (not like I could afford to actually go) and there's an 8 day cruise that leaves from Barcelona and stops in France then Italy and back to Spain. Sign me up!!

@50wife GL Friday!
@beachbunnyxo123 I don't know much about hysteroscopy but I would try to talk to your RE and get a clear idea of the procedure and the protocol before it, like why you need bcp. Maybe you can ask for a phone consult.
@zwink I'm glad you consult is so close!
@avrilmai I haven't been on clomid but I would want to do some basic testing as wel before starting. Has your H had an SA as well? You don't want to waste time with clomid if it's a totally different issue.
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI, DOR
Cycle/CD: ?
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): on bcp,

@shortstack930 I really hope that you have good results with the Femera. Do you have another appointment this week to check on the results of the surgery, or are they under the assumption that you are good to go now?

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Letrozole and TI and making my eggs happy with no plastics and lots of green veggies and no drinking
How are things going? I have had wedding these past 2 weekends and no drinking. So far its rough (I am a glass of wine a night kinda gal), but other than that, feeling emotionally better than last week. Also re-watching Gossip Girl on Netflix and that always makes me feel better about everything
Any questions?
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why?
This question is impossible because I want to go everywhere! Literally. Everywhere is on my list. Vietnam, Russia, Norway, Argentina, South Africa, Turkey....everywhere
@50wife Eeee! Good luck at your Beta this week!
@beachbunnyxo123 I will know more after the 18th when I have my RE appt. I am hoping to have an ER before Jan 1st so my insurance will take care of it all instead of a new years deductible, but totally up to them so we may be doing Jan. I am sorry your scope was painful/not possible
@Avrilmai Clomid for me wasn't bad at all. I had some hot flashes, but other than that I was emotionally stable, no weight changes, no cramping, normal thick lining....easy peasy for me. I hope it is for you too!
@AlohaKumu YAY! I am so excited for you and all your follies! So many good juju vibes towards you!
@KristoKekerooni when is your IVF consult?

@KristoKekerooni organizing really wasn't that difficult. I just used the clinic print out that they gave me. It had a calendar with the meds and doses for each day and I would tick them
off as I went. It also had a grid with actual boxes for each med (for the stims) so I had to put each vial in it's spot to make sure I had the right ones before pulling them up. That was useful since my am and pm meds were a little different.
Also even this far in I still have to try to keep my mind off of the what-ifs. When I start thinking about it I just remind myself that I would never be happy if I didn't do everything in my power for this. Even if it doesn't work at least I know I did everything I could. That's not for everyone of course but that's how I feel.
@BusinessWife yay for a date!! Makes it a bit more real!
@50wife I’m gonna call my nurse again today since they haven’t called me to schedule yet I will definitely keep you guys posted!
@zwink1 those are all completely normal and understandable feelings! Knowing that we are moving forward with IVF has brought up a lot for me and I’m glad to have had the support here. We are here for you!
@emmasemm that’s super helpful information and I’m pretty sure that’s what my RE was saying. Something about dilating my cervix under anesthesia so this is no longer an issue especially before we do an FET. I wasn’t sure how that worked for a long term fix rather than just dilating the cervix in the moment but he seemed confident he could fix the issue
@AlohaKumu so excited for you and 20 follies!!! Can’t wait to hear how it goes this week!! will definitely be thinking of you!
@KristoKekerooni we are gonna start stimming early Jan I believe and then will do an FET, what about you? I’m really hoping to have some buddies throughout this process!! I’m so glad to hear that you have a solid plan moving forward!
@shortstack930 I had zero intense side effects with femara except a couple crying spells which could have easily been contributed to other stressors! Excited for this IUI for you post surgery!
@safire when is your FET scheduled for? Omg I love st Lucia! We went there on our honeymoon and no where else has compared! Where did you stay if you don’t mind me asking?
@BusinessWife I’m totally paranoid about supplements so I checked first since I’ve seen that before with DHEA but thanks so much for the heads up! They are tellin me the same thing between 6-10 but I’m in the TWW now and haven’t been scheduled yet so I’m surprised since it seems like we have plenty of time to try to schedule it then but maybe there’s some other reason too! When are they doing your FET how much longer after the polypectomy? So excited for you!
@kiwi2628 that’s a good idea to get it in this year before having to pay a new deductible!
@RVAmom315 good luck this cycle!!!!
Sorry I was Mia last week. I was lurking and loving though!
@50wife fingers crossed for your beta this week!
@businesswife your fet is coming so soon!!!
@kristokekerooni ahhhh!! You're so close! I couldn't be more happy for you moving into this ivf cycle!!
@alohakumu holy follies!!! Take it easy because those ovaries will start to get real sore towards the end.
Tagging isn't working on mobile but so much love and luck to everyone else in the thread!
Diagnosis (If you've been): poor egg quality
Cycle/CD: month 2 of either domestic infant adoption or foster to adopt
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): decision making
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Gathering documents for our homestudy
How are things going?
Eh. They're going. I am a make a decision and figure it out as you go kind of person and my husband needs to think about things and waffle on them for months at a time kind of person. So we still have not decided on what type of adoption to pursue. And it's killing me. I want to be moving forward and going confidently with a decision and his constant desire to change plans and question things annoys me.
Any questions?
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why?
Is it a cop out to just say all of Europe? My husband and I both really want to take a long trip exploring Europe.

Hi ladies, I intro'd here a few weeks ago, and have just been lurking since then, but I think maybe I'm up to real participation now!
Diagnosis (If you've been): still testing
Cycle/CD: 8/2
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): wto
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) We have our first RE consult next week, so right now I'm trying to figure out what questions I have. "What the heck is going on with my body?" seems like it's probably too vague. I've had all my bw and an HSG and MH has had an SA. My ob/gyn was not super helpful in interpreting the numbers, so I'm looking forward to hearing the RE's interpretation.
How are things going? Things are ok. I had unrealistically high hopes for last cycle, so yesterday was pretty rough. I'm trying to focus on the positive and on figuring out our plan moving forward.
Any questions? Nothing right now!
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? I would love to go to New Zealand with MH! To be honest, I fell in love with the scenery in the Lord of the Rings movies, and I'd love to see it in person.
Diagnosis (If you've been): DOR and autoimmune issues
Cycle/CD: 31 / 5
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Follow up with RE on Thursday, starting to get a bit nervous what he might say
How are things going? I'm well prepared for the meeting, but nervous as having done a lot of research I've got a fairly clear idea of worst case... Though also having talked to lots of ladies on the IF board I also know the first cycle going badly does not mean all others will necessarily. I think I've got some delayed reactions to last week's negative beta too. But DH is giving great snuggles.
Any questions? We skipped the HSG before the first IVF cycle as the insurance makes you wait 3 months after it before an IVF cycle, but just wondering if it would add any value to our treatments? I guess not if we're doing IVF anyhow, as it's mostly about tubes, but also in case they have blockages this could cause fluid to back up and lead to implantation issues or early MC. Sorry, more a monologue than a question!
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why?
New Zealand or the Arctic Circle. I've been many times to Australia but never to NZ and it looks a truly amazing country. Arctic Circle as it's still less visited than most places and because DH isn't so keen on really hot places so I think he could handle sub zero temperatures ;-)
@50wife fx for beta on Friday! You need to follow the mass exodus from TTGP to JuneBMB! And Italy is gorgeous - we did a 3 week driving holiday all around the country two years ago.
@redpuma119 FX for you too! I've actually never been to Greece either, I think I would need to make a "Greek Gods" tour.
@beachbunnyxo123 also a note from me to only take the DHEA under guidance from your RE. If it works it's great, but if it doesn't it also seems to cause some damage! Whereas CoQ10 seems to either work or not, but if it doesn't work doesn't do you any harm.
@zwink1 Ooooh you could team a Norwegian cruise up with a visit to the arctic Circle!
@avrilmai With everything that has been posted the last two weeks, I think it's absolutely fair to talk to your doctor about your Clomid concerns. And maybe agree with DH which symptoms to look out for and if they get too bad have a plan what to do.
@wishiwaspreggo what beer festival is it? I'm in Germany and it feels like the whole country is recovering from Oktoberfest!!!
@alohakumu OmG how exciting to have your ER this week! And wow your party sounds awesome!!!
@kristokekerooni I can echo setting up all the meds in a special area, I also put everything into a special spreadsheet (as I'm a geek) as well as on FF
@shortstack930 FX the drugs do work for you this cycle!
@safire3 I feel you on the waiting - but just think next week it all gets started!
@businesswife ooooh next week will be here so fast and then on to FET!!!!!!!
@kiwi2628 good to hear you're feeling better
@rvamom315 woohoo for first IUI!
@tamalahoops nope, counting Europe as one location is absolutely allowed, seeings as it fits inside several other countries!!!
@darkstar42 ooooh Lord of the Rings is an awesome way for me to convince DH about a trip to NZ! And sorry you're here friend, I also had high hopes for your last cycle. Damn pretty charts.

Fav Quote: The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return
@50Wife Fx for your beta! Hoping that Friday the 13th is a super lucky day!
@Redpuma119 Sorry about your timing. It’s hard to find a good balance between being busy enough to distract from ttc stress but not too busy to affect timing.
@beachbunnyxo123 I’ve also just read ISWTE and done a purge of plastics/replacement of personal care and cleaning products. I finding that following a high protein diet is really challenging for me! Are there specific diet recommendations you are following?
@zwink1 MH and I just watched a movie set in Norway last night and added it to our wish list of vacation spots. So gorgeous!
@Avrilmai How frustrating that they won’t finish the testing before starting Clomid! What tests have you had done so far?
@AlohaKumu Your Rocky Horror party sounds amazing! I would love to attend something like that. Did you dress up as one of the characters?
@KristoKekerooni Those over-water bungalows do look amazing! I’m glad things are coming together for IVF.
@shortstack930 Fx for this cycle!
@safire3 I’m with you on beach resort vacations. So relaxing!
@BusinessWife So exciting to have a FET date!
@kiwi2628 Love your travel list! Have you done a lot of traveling?
@RVAmom315 London is lovely! I’d love to go there with MH.
@tamalahoops That’s rough to not be on the same page as YH yet. Which option are each of you leaning towards?
@emmasemm Good luck at the follow up with your RE! I’ll be curious to hear what he says. I’m glad YH is being so snuggly and supportive for you. It makes all the difference in the world.
I'm back!!! Formally Leekat..I wish I could say it was something exciting that forced my name change but sadly no. I got a new phone and TB could not get me logged back in and had no record of me with my correct email.

@darkstar42 I dressed as a generic “unconventional convention.” Our running group is going to do a full-on RHPS dress up party later this month, though!

@AlohaKumu that is an awesome update and I'm glad the doc was so friendly. At my clinic ultrasound techs do the scans and most of them purposefully position the screen so you can't see and refuse to tell you anything about it. If you want to know what's going on in your own ovaries you have to ask to see the nurse after the scan. I guess different clinics, different protocols.
@emmasem I would say you don't need HSG anymore at this point but then I've never heard of blocked tubes causing problems with implantation.
@darkstar42 sorry you had a tough time yesterday. CD1 always sucks. Hugs to you. I hope you get some answers at your consult next week and a plan.
*edited to fix formatting that TB messed up
@wishiwaspreggo and @50Wife it is good to hear you had no side effects from it.
Diagnosis (If you've been): unexplained other than a blocked tube
Cycle/CD: 25/4
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Clomid + IUI
How are things going?: I was scared I would like immediately lose my mind with starting Clomid or something...smh. I felt totally normal today, thank goodness. Even in a good mood for the most part. Hopefully that continues!
Any questions? nope
GTKY: If you were given a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, who with and why? It's so hard to pick one place. Honestly I would probably go back to Tuscany, where I did a summer of study abroad...I know I should use my free trip to go somewhere I haven't been before, but it is just so beautiful and wonderful there! I would bring Hubby with me and show him all the places I loved so much.
