@kmalls that is soooooo precious! That would be my favorite too!
As for my random, I took today off to officially implement the first phase of my attempt at authentic Coq Au Vin. The house smells amazing, and I get to watch Americas Got Talent most of the day. I suck at relaxing on days off, so I folded clothes and cleaned the bathrooms too. My husband is doing contract work from home, so he has been watching me all day like I am a huge weirdo. His idea of a day off is not moving from the couch except to maybe get food.
@ngolimento I forgot that you're our resident cooking expert!! Do you happen to have a go-to chicken curry recipe that a person who isn't a great chef on their own (but can follow recipes like a champ) could pull off? I have a hankering for Indian but I'm not sure where to start.

Lol I don't know if I am a cooking expert, but we do have a coconut curry recipe that always turns out amazing! I took a picture of the book page, hopefully it is legible.
ETA: We usually cut out the chili because I am a spice whimp.
My little man got his cast off today, yay! But he still has to wear a splint for 3 more weeks. At least we can take it off.
Anyone have a teleportation machine? Because I don't wanna be in the car for at least 12 hours tomorrow night *cries.*
Also, there was a stinkbug in my car on the windshield right in front of me and I was about to die. Luckily I was pulling into a parking lot. Wasted about 10-15 mins with the doors open because, no. I do not get close to gross bugs.
After we went "Facebook Official" this weekend, my MIL took our announcement photo and made it her profile picture. And she keeps saying things like, "I can't wait to spoil MY baby!"... and it is really getting on my nerves.
@psuxray07 Omg stinkbugs can go to hell. When I lived in MI my H and I rented this older house that (little did we know) was totally infested with those damn stink bugs. One day I got to work and went to the bathroom, pulled down my pants to pee and there was a damn stinkbug hiding INSIDE MY PANTS. I wanted to die and still do thinking about it.
@JJMNO1616 ewww, our old house was too! So many times we slept in the living room. I can't even begin to tell you all my horror stories with stink bugs. Like....they're out to get me.
@klburke88 I'm not trying to be condescending at all (so I'm sorry if it sounds that way), but are you a first time mom? I ask only because what your MIL did/said is the kind of thing that would have driven me crazy before kids, but at this point I'd be all like "ok great! You go spoil that baby while I take a long nap." Or take a bath. Or cook dinner. Or read an actual book!!! I have become SO much more tolerant of my in laws over the years and a lot of it is because I have become so grateful for any help I can get... babies and kids are so tough.

@klburke88 heads up its just the beginning. My MIL and I have an interesting relationship (wasn't like that before my first pregnancy, then suddenly I wasn't good enough.) Recently, I went shopping for DD and she just so happened to call while I was out. I answered, told her what I was doing and she asked why I needed to shop for DD. I simply responded "she is starting daycare and wanted her to have clothes that are cute but ok to get dirty. Plus, I rarely get to shop for her because the grandparents are always shopping for her." This is something I have told my mom 1,000 times. Honestly, I was just excited because I had only bought her like 2 outfits since she was born. She responded with "well, I'm not having anymore kids so, you should just let me buy her what I want." I never said she couldn't buy her clothes, I just wanted to. Anyways, sorry that was super long.
If anyone is still reading, my random is I totes had a dream about baby last night. It was a boy who we named David David. Weird cause I'm pretty sure we are having a girl and David isn't on our name list.
@klburke88@lindsye I'm a STM but that would still drive me nuts. Except my MIL is the kind that will say that stuff and post on social media about how she loves spending time with DS, except she actually rarely spends time with him and often says no when we ask for help.
@lindsye didn't come off condescending at all I have an 11yo DD from a previous relationship, so while I am not a FTM, it's been over a decade since I last cared for an infant. DH is an only child so this baby is a pretty big deal for my in-laws. It will very likely be their first and only grandchild. So while I understand that she is excited about everything, I am also nervous about her overstepping boundaries. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
@bchalm Do we have the same MIL?? Mine is very big on buying clothes for my DD and even me, to the point where she has a bag of clothes for us every time we see her. It just feels weird. And she's definitely more of a "quantity over quality" gift-giver. I try to be graceful about telling her it's not necessary, but I don't think she's getting the message. I'm almost afraid of what this Christmas will look like.
@klburke88 our MIL's are def the same person. Just last week DH came in and was like "don't be mad. I told my mom we were going shopping so you could get some shorts that were more comfy. She went and bought you a bunch of maternity clothes" ahhhhh WHY??
Ah ok, @klburke88. Well I really hope she can contain her excitement as well as respect boundaries - someone who can't do that really would be maddening. I bet your DD is so excited to be a big sister, and can really help you with the baby at that age! Mine are all two years apart and the oldest is 5, so any "help" I get from them with a baby is... well, not so helpful.

*ETA* I obviously didn't read full thread before replying. Sorry!
What @lindsye said +1. I let SO much get under my skin with my MIL when I was pregnant with my first. Now I just shake my head. It's still annoying but if she wants to hold/spoil/etc. I'm more than willing to rest while she takes the lead.
On a supportive note, @klburke88 I know what that feels like...and it gets better- for the most part.
not to add to the MIL complaint train but mine likes to the play the victim a lot. It feels like she thinks we are trying to keep DD away from her. (We aren't) She told us we aren't allowed to bring DD to her house (she is somewhat a hoarder but not nearly as bad as the show but it's more then just pick up a few things and it's clean) Well she gets upset when my parents have DD over for a sleep over because she is never asked when we bring up that she told us we can't bring DD over to her house she says well she will clean it soon. Very frustrating I just feel bad for my mom because she can't talk about having DD over because it always hurts my MIL feelings and it's not my mom's fault that we can rely on my parents.
@Dumbgurl04 I have the same dilemma. My in-laws smoke INSIDE their house, which of course, is their choice. However, it means I can't go inside their house while pregnant, and my toddler has never stepped foot in there. Every frigging holiday is a big huge drama fest over how unreasonable we are not to bring her to their house, and MIL always does a passive aggressive power play with me. It's maddening that they made a lifestyle choice, and refuse to deal with the consequences.
My maiden name isn't common, particularly in combination with my first name, but I get SO MANY EMAILS meant for someone else. And it's not even the same someone else, apparently there are several of us with the same uncommon-ish name, all over the country. I just got the third email this month meant for someone else with the same name. Weird, right?
ETA: apparently its an international thing. The email I just got was looking for someone with my name in Montreal.
@Dumbgurl04@ngolimento wow, that is a whole new level of in law drama - I'm sorry you both have to deal with that kind of thing regularly! I just get the usual unsolicited advice/snarky comments, and while annoying, it's at least stuff I can (usually) brush off easily.
@kmalls that is really crazy. So they just Google the other person or people and then wind up with your email address? Are any of the emails actually about interesting stuff?

@lindsye some of them are really interesting! I got one in August from the set designer of the Will & Grace reboot. He sent over a list of things he had ordered and wanted this person, who shared my name, to add in anything he may have missed. It ended up being a really funny exchange!

That's crazy, and kinda cool!
I once got accidentally looped into a group text between some big-wig oil field engineers. I politely told them that I was a 33 year old women working in economic development so they might want to take me off the text. To which they responded "sorry ma'am" and then just kept texting away about schematics without taking me off the text. I should've threatened to sell their information and plans to someone in the middle east.
@ngolimento I can't do cigarette smoke at all, pregnant or not. It makes me so so sick. I don't blame you what so ever for not wanting to go in there or have your child in the house.
@Dumbgurl04 That's really frustrating especially because she is the one who said your DD can't go to her house in the first place. I wonder if maybe it would help to ask her in advanced to watch your DD overnight but put the date out into the future. That way the pressure will be put on her to actually clean the house and if she doesn't welllll....
@lund My H has had to change his cell number a few times because he uses a work phone and a lot of my friends and family still have his old number programmed in their phones. So the person who currently has one of his old numbers always gets accidentally called/texted. I do feel bad for this person and I'm like 99% sure it's a young teenage girl because I also accidentally called his old number once and when the VM came up it was a really young sounded female voice. Anywho... one day my friend sent a group text to me my H and her H but she used the old number. We had been talking for a really long time before we realized it wasn't my husband's phone number. So this girl finally responds to us and is SO pissy. We apologized and explained the situation but she just kept repeatedly saying not to contact her again. Well about two weeks later the same friend's husband sent us all another group text and he sent it to the wrong number AGAIN. I was laughing so hard because this poor girl was ferrous and to make matters worse the topic of conversation was a little inappropriate (something about dildos?) lmao
One benefit of finding out we're having a girl very early on: I can list DS's infant winter clothes on our local kid's exchange. Mama's making some cash!
@ngolimento uhh that is frustrating, I hate people throwing around a victim card especially when they put themselves in that situation.
@JJMNO1616 I wish we could do something like. We are already planners so usually when we need someone to watch DD it's planned a few weeks in advanced. My MIL can't really be relied on because she cancels last minute. There have been times she tells she is coming over and then the day arrives and she doesn't show up when she says and we call her and she says some excuse like she doesn't feel well (which understandable it happens) or traffic (she doesn't drive on the interstate so she has to go through downtown Indianapolis) but she won't call and tell us she isn't coming anymore, MH has to call her and ask if she is ok and where she is at. Sometimes we might plan things around her visit or plan for something she can do with us and DD and then she gets upset when she finds out she missed out on it.
Also TBH even if she did clean her house I don't know how comfortable I would be having DD stay over with her. My MIL still seems kind of nervous around DD like she isn't sure what to do. We have let her watch DD while we run to the grocery store but it seems every time we come back she tells me "Well I had to change her, but I don't know if I did it right. Can you check?" MH doesn't seem to worried about it though cause he says she is never going to clean her house so we will never have to worry about it.
I'm convinced this baby will not have a name, girl or boy. DH is proving to be very random in his tastes this go around. That being said, if we ever do actually decide, I don't know that we'll admit it to people. I've already dealt with two rounds of name judgment and I just don't want to deal with it again.
Speaking of...any opposition to a name thread. Seeing other peoples lists might help me, I feel like i'm stuck in a rut only proving SO's point that if we weren't team green we wouldn't need to come up with not only one but two names.
@Dumbgurl04 I totally have the same MIL reliability issues. Its my number one pet peeve about her (and people in general...). I plan EVERYTHING and my life goes according to plan. I very rarely change my plans last minute and if I do, its for a deliberate necessary reason.
My MIL commits to things with us regularly.... then cancels. She just did it this past Friday. She's local and constantly complains that she never sees our kids (we see her usually once every two weeks, sometimes weekly, and never go a month without seeing her). So to help mitigate our travel down to her (45 minutes) I invite her to come to us... she always bails unless she picks the date/time. If I pick the date/time, she cancels last minute. Every.Time.
She's constantly asking DH if she can babysit the kids and I tell him hell no because she's unreliable. TWO times in the past year we've asked her to commit and PROMISE to be there for us (not just a normal hangout but we NEED your help). The first was watching DS when I went into labor with DD and the second was staying home with DS for two days during our week of potty training. She canceled both last minute. It took me calling her crying while in labor with DD and my BIL driving her to our house to get her butt to our house (my parents live 5 hours way, despite this, my mom jumped in the car to be with us). Flash forward to potty training and MIL canceled the night before she was due to arrive at our house. My Mom, the saint, took a train 5 hours and 2 vacation days to come to us and help out for those two days.
I clearly have some issues here......... I will reiterate, this is my number one pet peeve for anyone in my life, and has been a pet peeve my whole life. Other than this, my MIL is a really sweet woman who loves the crap out of me and my kids... she just has no respect for my plans. Nor really any clue about how obsessive/compulsive I am about them.
DS: EDD, December 19th, 2014. Born, December 19th, 2014! DD: EDD, July 18th, 2016. Born, July 19th, 2016!
@ladythrice If my MIL tried bailing on me when I was in LABOR I don't know if there would be much of a relationship at all after that. Unless there was a really dang good excuse that is.
Yeah @ladythrice it certainly sounds like she has issues; bailing on a Friday night dinner is one thing but when you're relying on her to watch your kids when you're in the hospital...?!?

I'm going to be a complete AW for a moment and brag that my kid has officially graduated from state sponsored development therapy above average in every category! She qualified for the program when she refused to walk at 17 months old, and was too shy to talk much. It has been a long road to make all the appointments and execute the therapies, but here we are!
The therapist gave her final evaluation and said she got the highest score possible in perceptual-motor, and receptive communication. I am unreasonably proud right now.
Re: Weekly randoms - week of 10/9
You guys, we got our pictures back from this weekend's photo shoot and I'm DYING. Dying. This one makes me so happy every time I look at it.
Edit: I pulled the picture down because in my excitement, I forgot about how many people lurk these boards. CREEPY. How about a gif instead?!
