How many weeks / babies? Any upcoming appts? Have you announced yet?? How did people react? Have you started a registry? Any questions or concerns to run by the other MoMs?
I am finally hopping over from the IF boards. The twins and I are 2 days shy of 17 weeks so its' about time I'd say!
Our next u/s will be in two weeks for anatomy - we are just dying to find out the genders. These are my first babies (my husband's 2nd and 3rd) so we will bring along my step son who is 9 to our appt as we want him to be there to see the babies wiggling around; he's so excited about his new half siblings. He talks to my tummy...it's cute.
Physically, I feel huge already. I have a very obvious bump that if I had to guess is probably measuring at around 20 weeks. I feel my uterus and skin stretching most afternoons and have occasional itchy skin on tummy and boobs. No baby flutters yet...should be soon. I can't wait! The only standout symptom I have is a very achy back. Just standing and doing the dishes for 15 minutes kills and I have to sit down for relief.
I am traveling to see one of my best friends in a nearby city towards the end of Oct. as she will help me register. She has 8 month old b/b twins so I'm relying on her heavily to help me out!
I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone in the MoM March group!
(Oh, and if there's some sort of sign up sheet I need to be on please let me know )
@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake Welcome! OMG your SN! That takes me back lol. Also I'll also be 17 weeks Wednesday so we are EDD twins (not that we're likely to get that far before delivering...)
I also have my anatomy scan in ~2 weeks. Pretty excited. My last 2 appointments have been 98% focused on trying and failing to determine why I'm spotting randomly... anyone else had that issue? They keep checking my cervix and everything and can't figure out why. I guess I might just be one of those ppl who spots in 2nd tri for no reason, or maybe it's Baby A's low lying placenta that will hopefully move over soon.
I have started a registry on Amazon and as a FTM of twins I'm so overwhelmed. Trying my best to not buy 2 of every single thing... I'm keeping it private for now and plan to share with people once we've researched and re-researched some more products. Thank god for Lucie's List.
Next appointment is on next Tuesday. I have had an u/s every week since week 5 (because triplets and then losing one) but now I'm on an every other week schedule. My dr. said after the next appointment I should put on a "normal" pregnant person schedule but I think the anatomy scan will be 2 weeks after that anyway.
We just announced about a week ago...could not hide the belly anymore! A lot of people said they suspected, but of course the twin news was a surprise!
I have loosely started a registry on Amazon, but mostly just to make a list for myself of what we will need. My DS is 5 so we've gotten rid of most baby things.
How is everyone feeling? I have been nauseous every day for 72 days (but who's counting? lol) but I just threw up for the first time last night and again this morning. WTF?? 15 weeks and NOW I start puking??
@Gingham I'm so glad to see you post here! My MS is totally gone now, and I'm so grateful. I do have a ton of other symptoms that most moms of singletons don't get till way later like back pain and just general hugeness relative to gestational age... anyway I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks @vflux33! The weird thing is with my singleton pregnancy I had lower back and sciatic pain starting very early, but not this time. I'm sure there will be plenty of time for those aches and pains though! I'm sorry you are still spotting. That has to be unnerving, but I guess it's good they haven't found a major cause for it.
I’m 17w today, and having awful back pain too - trying to take my 22-month old daughter to a fall festival tomorrow and super anxious about standing and walking so much without a rest
we did the NIPT which told us there is at least one boy in there, but DYING to know if we have B/B or B/G twins! Anatomy scan is scheduled for 10/12, so trying to keep it together until then!!
@Gingham **lurker** I threw up starting at week 15 and very quickly hit 3-4 times a day. At 18 weeks it has calmed back down to throwing up 1-2 times a week finally. It sucks. I’m only having one but I thought it might be nice to know someone else dealt with it—and it gets better.
Gingham - I'm sorry to hear of your lost triplet. Isn't it funny how people just freak out about twins? I love it. Sharing the news of a twin pregnancy, it's almost guaranteed to put a smile that person's face!
vflux33 - How do you know where the placenta is exactly? I've had a few scans and no one has ever mentioned the placenta (i'm assuming it's there but I never see it on the screen)...
@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake It was mentioned to me during either my NT scan or the scan a few weeks before when they were confirmed as di/di. If they didn't tell you, that's not a bad thing. Because the low lying ones usually move as the uterus expands, I think a lot of techs and doctors don't even mention it this early because they don't want people to freak out on Dr. Google when there's nothing to be concerned about.
vflux33 - Since we are EDD buddies...what date did your OB tell you? Initially I was set at March 14 which would be 40 weeks but then I saw my new (and current) OB, and she set it for 36 weeks (bc of the twins and all) which puts me at Feb. 14. And of course I'm just in love with the idea of my due date being on Valentines Day so I'm running with it. LOL.
I figure I'll make Vday my goal and anything after that is just gravy.
Also, question for all - If you are planning on having a baby shower...what month are you doing it in?
With our multiples due in March, it makes it kind of tricky...seems like Nov/Dec would be perfect (not too uncomfortable in 3rd trimester to enjoy it and early enough to get all the gifts setup at home) but then there are the holidays and I really don't want to impose on people's holiday plans. So I'm thinking mid January but I'm worried since I'll be around 32 weeks that maybe I shouldn't travel and won't want to (my shower will be a 3 hour drive away).
@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake My RE put me at the 14th (March) and the OB put me at the 13th based on growth, but I've been going with the 14th. They didn't actually change my EDD because of the twins, they just told me basically that EDDs were kinda BS and be ready to go way earlier than 3/14.
We're not doing a baby shower. I don't like baby showers, but also if we had one it would have to be a 2 day drive away, and even then a bunch of ppl couldn't go (families are spread out over a lot of states/regions). IF I were though, and if everyone was living in the same place, I'd probably go with a week or 2 before Christmas. Otherwise I think you'll risk not having everything set up in case they end up being very early. And considering how much stress you'd already have if that were the case, the last thing you're gonna wanna be thinking about is shower logistics and calling ppl to cancel.
Hi everyone! So nice to hear updates from other MoMs. I announced and the reactions have been so fun and supportive and reassuring. (Well, except for the person who said, 'oh, so you're not just getting fat.) It's easy to go down the rabbit hole of 'how will we manage!' So getting to tell people and have them be excited is nice.
My EDD is 3/16, but my OB says she won't let twins go past 38 weeks. I'm mostly just hoping to make it to mid-February and after that see what happens.
Is anyone choosing or being encouraged to automatically do a c-section? My OB said some of her multiple patients just default to that. I'm hoping to do all vaginal, but she said that sometimes the second baby flips after the first comes out and then you have to have a c-section too! Definitely something I'd want to avoid.
For my registry, I love Babylist. You can add items from any website, so you're not limited to just one store's products. I used it for my first and it was great.
ps, I changed my username since the last time I posted...
@mnddnvn I'm not being encouraged to do a c-section, but personally as of now I kinda want one. As you said the potential of having to do BOTH really freaks me out. Though just FYI my OB says that if just Baby B is breeched some OBs are trained to "reach in" *actual words she used* and turn B and pull him or her out (supposedly because you're so wide open by then... ) Ultimately I'm gonna do whatever the doctor says but I'm struggling with the idea of attempting a vaginal birth TBH. I know it's supposed to be everyone's goal, but I find both options terrifying, the potential of needing both one after the other very terrifying, and I'm a FTM so no prior experience to lean on here.
Hello everyone! Im 17+5 today with my b/g twins! My next appointment is with the MFM doctor for my AS ultrasound on the 10th. I cant wait to see them again! We announced when I was 14 weeks to family and friends. We actually announced being pregnant and left out the twins part..we then did a gender reveal and it was great because they only expected one color to come out,but first came blue then came pink! We have yet to announce on Facebook. Thinking we will wait til I get to 20weeks for that. I haven't started a registry yet hopefully in the next few weeks. What supplements have you all been put on with the twins?
Wow there has been so many posts that i will try to respond to a few at a time.
I'm at 15 weeks 3 days with di/di twins. My next appointment is next Tuesday, we will get to see our littles because my OB wants to do an ultrasound every 4 weeks to make sure they are growing well and according to them it makes finding the individual heartbeats easier. My husband and I went through an embryo transfer to get pregnant so not many people were surprised that we are having twins, but we have gotten the full spectrum of responses from super happy to"are you sure you know what you are getting into?" Lol.
Our OB works with midwives so he is very pro vaginal birth, but said that if both are breech we will do a C-section.
We've started a couple of registries for the freebies but don't plan on giving out all the links.
Other than that I'm just having some back pain and sciatica pain. I tried a pregnancy back brace, but it made me feel light-headed. I'm now trying kinesio tape to see if that will help.

We have an appointment tomorrow with my regular obgyn and then an ultrasound with a perinatologist next week- we have ultrasounds every 2 weeks to monitor for identical twin related risks.
we announced on Facebook 2 weeks ago, but had told close friends and family in person- the reactions are priceless!!! And it's crazy how people all ask the same questions- do twins run in your family? Do you know the sexes yet? And then the obvious reaction of "you're going to have your hands full!"
we we haven't started a registry yet. I've been wondering when to start and am nervous to do it too soon because of a miscarriage of our first baby 6 months ago... a little paranoid!
Anyone sleeping with a pregnancy pillow? I can't seem to get comfortable and might need to get one! Recommendations welcome!
@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake Im so glad you finally came over to this board! Lol! That is so great that your step son will be involved! I understand about feeling huge! Your AS will be here soon. I love that your friend with twins will be able to help you with your registry. As for the placentas, if they havent mentioned it yet they will most likely note the locations with your AS. If not you could just ask. My baby A placenta was posterior (back side of uterus) at 8wks and by 11wks it had moved down towards my cervix and at 14 wks it was covering my cervix and partial anterior (front side of uterus) so i am praying it keeps moving up as id rather have an anterior placenta than placentaprevia. As for a shower im thinking late November or early December.
@vflux33 I hope your AS goes well and your placenta moves as well. I thunk your spotting is most likely from the low lying placenta. Ive had 2 episodes of heavy bleeding and spotting for weeks. I think the registry will be frustrating as well. Maybe thats why I haven't done one yet. Lol.
@Gingham we both have our next appointment next Tuesday!! I am so sorry for your loss, I couldn't even imagine.. my heart aches for you. As for how im feeling: im just tired and most the time cant fall back asleep after getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Have they estimated your twins weights yet?
@sardavbak i feel you on the standing too long! The state fair is coming up and i really want to go, but I just dont know about walking around for so long. Your AS will be here before you know it!! Please keep us posted!
@mnddnvn Im sorry for that one person with the rude comment! I like your plan to try to get to mid February and see what happens. My MFM has said i wont go over 36-37 weeks so that will be Feb 9th -16th I am definitely wanting a vaginal birth and actually thinking about switching OB's to one that will deliver vaginally if baby b is breech, or at least will try to turn baby b. Currently my ob will only deliver vaginally if both babies are head down. I understand that things can happen that could make C-section more likely, but at least I can say I tried to have a vaginal birth. Of course I still need my placenta to move first.
@amanning2011 I guess there are 3 of us that have appointments next Tuesday! I hope you will update! That is so great that your OB is pro vaginal!! Which places give you freebies for the registry?
@momma6angels11 Babies R Us, Target, Amazon, and Walmart will all give you a welcome gift type tying for registering. Although Amazon's welcome box is out of stock right now . I've actually made a list of every where that will give you free samples and such, lol. I'm such a list person I'm sure my OB is going to be sick of all my lists.

@momma6angels11 thank you! The appointment was good- short and sweet. Both heartbeats were strong! We don't know the gender yet, but have an ultrasound next week at 16 weeks and are hoping they can tell us then!! All we need is one baby to cooperate and show us the goods and then we will know both genders
Hey ladies! So excited to finally have more time to be on here I am a stm and found out in August that we are expecting di/di Twins. Came as a huge surprise especially since the initial plan was “let’s just stop at 2” and we can keep the suv and just re-use our son’s stuff, etc...ha-ha to those plans. But in all seriousness, we could not be more thrilled with the news.
How many weeks / babies? 18 weeks (edd 3/8) w/2 babies Any upcoming appts? Two at the end of this month Have you announced yet?? Just to family and close friends How did people react? Joy, excitement and mostly shock Have you started a registry? No. Any questions or concerns to run by the other MoMs? Any books, podcasts or other resources to recommend for expecting MoMs? so far, I’ve been reading ‘What to do when you’re having two’ - easy to read with what seems like great info. Also, listening to ‘TwinTalks’ podcasts which has been nice. Any suggestions would be appreciated
Does anyone else feel the twins "interacting" with each other? I feel baby a the most and it must be the annoying baby cause it's always rolling around and it prompts baby b to move in response.
@awolfff I love Twin Talks! I'm currently reading "When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, and Quads" and I find it really useful so I recommend that. There's also a website called "Twiniversity" that has some multiples discounts and articles in it.
@syssa-o I heard they normally start interacting ~14 weeks. I haven't read a lot of details beyond that though. Have you come across anything good to share about that? Funny, my Baby A is WAY more active than B too. I haven't definitely felt movement yet (FTM), but every time I get an ultrasound A's always going nuts and B is just chilling out and relaxing.
@vflux33 most of what I'm reading reiterates the same details. I've taken to watching videos of 4d ultrasounds now. I was watching a national geographic one of twins that were 24 weeks and it suggests that they "play games" with one another.... so they really are trying to bug each other before they're even born! Lol
I'm interested to read more so I'm going to continue looking. I'll let you know if I stumble upon anything cool
@syssa-o Yes please share--I'd love to learn more about that!
@awolfff Oh one more recommendation! If you're not already on there, the Lucie's List section about Twins is so helpful for product recommendations. I do additional research and don't follow their advice on all products but they give lots of great ideas and have introduced me to a lot of products I've never heard of. They have a twins specific newsletter too.
Out of curiosity, is anyone else worried about not being able to fit behind the steering wheel of their car at some point during the pregnancy? I'm only about 4 inches away from my steering wheel which has me concerned that I may not be able to drive after a bit (before it's suggested, I have really short arms and legs so I am as far away from the steering wheel as I can get and still be able to reach things lol)

@amanning2011, I remember in my last week of work with DS (a month before my due date) being like "wow it's hard to drive!!" I definitely made it. But it was more challenging then for sure. I'm also very short (5'2") so I have to have my seat pretty close to the steering wheel. Not sure if taller mom's experience this.
Thanks @justkeeptrying I'm hoping I'll be able to drive for a while still, but my work will let me work from home when/if I can't fit anymore .
My appointment went well, though I only gained 1 pound since last month The midwife I saw today told me to make sure I'm eating at least 90 grams of protein every day and that she wasn't worried about the lack of weight gain, though she expected me to start gaining weight this next month. The babies are growing well and my cervix is nice and long according to the midwife, so they aren't concerned about pre-term labor right now Can't wait until next month when we find out the genders

amanning2011 - Great news about your appt! And also wonderful you have the ability to work from home if need be. I consider the company I work for very progressive and family oriented but I'm not sure that I even have that option!
We find out the genders a week from today. I'm SO looking forward to seeing my little peanuts again and in more detail for anatomy scan.
@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake I do data entry so it's relatively easy for me to do it at home, and I think they would prefer that over me being on short or long term disability because I can't fit behind the wheel, lol. The company I work for is actually pretty awesome when it comes to a lot of the pregnancy/new mom stuff. We have a mother's room with outlets and a minifridge specifically for pumping, and they will reimburse me up to $300 for a pump. We also have dedicated RNs in the health services department that specialize in pregnancy benefits stuff and the accommodations that I might need like more spaced out breaks and such. In some things they can be kind of annoying but over all it's a great company to work for

As for a shower im thinking late November or early December.
I think the registry will be frustrating as well. Maybe thats why I haven't done one yet. Lol.
As for how im feeling: im just tired and most the time cant fall back asleep after getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Have they estimated your twins weights yet?
I am definitely wanting a vaginal birth and actually thinking about switching OB's to one that will deliver vaginally if baby b is breech, or at least will try to turn baby b. Currently my ob will only deliver vaginally if both babies are head down. I understand that things can happen that could make C-section more likely, but at least I can say I tried to have a vaginal birth. Of course I still need my placenta to move first.

I'm interested to read more so I'm going to continue looking. I'll let you know if I stumble upon anything cool
