Trying to Get Pregnant

IF testing & treatment week of 10/02

This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another.  Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (If you've been):

Cycle/CD:

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)

How are things going?

Any questions?

GTKY: What was the first record/cassette/CD you bought?

Edit: forgot to add the GTKY!

  • @Avrilmai we only did Magic Kingdom so no food & wine but I went to food & wine last year! It's really great--I loved the food from Hawaii, the waffles from Belgium, and I think there was a really good Korean one also. I would recommend sharing each one so that you can get to try more things (you have to pay per dish so it gets pricey) plus they have a lot of different drinks to try too. Have fun!!!

@JuneRoseRuby I have taken two cycles of Clomid in the past, and both times my mood swings were off the charts. I was mainly angry. Like an intense anger. I cried in frustration at the drop of a hat. It kind if scared me, and I never felt like myself while taking it. I would second seeing if you could switch to something different. I'm so sorry about your rough week. I hope you can get out of your funk soon, but if not, be kind to yourself. Sounds like you've been through a lot, and just need some time to process everything

  • Sorry for the bfn @emmasemm. I'm really hoping that it's just too early and you get an awesome surprise on Friday.
  • Sorry for BFN @emmasemm -- I hope it's too early! I giggled at your comment about "I Saw the Sign" ;)

@zwink1 Your consult is getting so close! You mentioned anxiety...how are you both doing?

  • @kiwi2628 I hope you're having a fun time with your friend!

@emmasemm, I'm sorry for the BFN.

@safire3, GL with your GET, getting close!

@adirat, I know it feels so close...and yet, still so far away, haha. I honestly didn't think I'd be this wound up when we got here. We've known this was the likely end result for some time so it's not like it came as a surprise. I think it's just because it seemed like we were never going to get here and then H was on board so suddenly that my head never really got time to adjust. We're doing okay, H hasn't really wanted to talk about it but seems to have a pretty realistic view of the situation. I've talked him into keeping the pool of people who know we're proceeding with IVF limited, so hopefully his parents and sister abide by our request and don't tell anyone.
  • @shortstack930 - what's your favorite restaurant at Disney??? I married into a Disney family. I always liked it but was never a fanatic but DW and her mom are *nuts* over Disney. She plans a killer vacation every time so I let her plan it. I had no idea the food at Disney was so amazing (I always assumed it was like other theme parks where you pay way too much for a crappy burger but if you do it right and put in some research Disney can be a foodie's dream). Our favorites are San Angel Inn, Le Cellier, and Be Our Guest (for obvious reasons). And there's this fabulous Asian fusion place at Disney Springs where you can get a massive rice bowl with meats and veggies for one snack credit! It's great :)

Short on time but will provide non-update later (yay for being benched).
  • @wishiwaspreggo my favorite is O'hana at the Polynesian resort! The food is amazing and it's family style so you can get as much as you want. And the dessert is bananas foster bread pudding with ice cream and caramel sauce on top! I love San Angel Inn and Be Our Guest also! I haven't tried Le Cellier yet. DH married into our Disney family and we turned him into a Disney nut as well!

  • @shortstack930 - Oh, that looks like fun!! Never been before but I'll mark that on my list of places to check out next time we're there :) Where do you usually stay? I really want to do the Art of Animation next time we go. I'll have to convince DW (she's always happy with one of the All Star resorts but Art of Animation looks so cool). We stayed at Coronado Springs once but the walking was crazy. We were far from the transportation and had to walk what felt like miles to get around. I think it's because of the big pond in the center. Made for lovely views but trying to find the pool was a bear.
  • @wishiwaspreggo our favorite place to stay is Port Orleans Riverside. My brother stayed at Art of Animation recently and loved it!

  • @emmasemm - I am so sorry :( the whole process really sucks overall. Sending you healing thoughts.

    AFM, my non-update...

Having a hard time convincing DW to even try mini IVF :\ she doesn't want to spend the money. The way I see it, we have a finite window to have more children. It's slowly closing. We have decades to earn money before we retire. We wouldn't even need to go into debt to do the INVOcell thing but it would be our only shot next year if we didn't want to go into debt. That being said, given my previous response to Follistim I'm fairly confident we'd have embryos to freeze. I'm less worried about *when* we have another baby than I am about my eggs losing quality over time. I'm 35 and while that may be relatively young for IVF, the longer we wait, the less optimal results will be for both IUI and IVF. At least if we had frozen embryos we could take a breath and relax knowing they'd be there next year and their quality wouldn't degrade over time.

I'm following some ladies on WTE who are doing INVOcell and they're having really good results from it so I do want to push for that over IUI. I just need to convince DW it's the right course of action. She's insisting on trying again herself, though. I thought she'd be relieved that I'm willing to take on the burden of fertility treatments and pregnancy but I dunno. I'm much more resilient than she is to disappointment. We shall see.

In the meantime I'm just focusing on losing weight and improving my health. Not really sure what the next steps will be for us but I'm here cheering you all on :) hoping we see many graduates after the slew of November cycles!
