What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Donor sperm, stims
How are things going? Last night marked the second evening of stims. It went much more smoothly than on Saturday night, when we promptly forgot everything we learned from our injection class and the instructional videos while trying to assemble all the syringes. (I’m on 2 vials of Menopur and a 225 dosage of Gonal-F each evening.) After it was clear that we were being disasters of human beings, we re-watched the videos as we were getting everything in place, and eventually we figured it out. Hubby was a champ and shoved the needles in me once everything was locked and loaded. The shots didn’t hurt too badly, although the Menopur did burn for a few seconds. I’ll have a follow-up ultrasound on Thursday to check my progress. If all goes according to plan, my ER will be on October 11!
Today I’ll be heading to the center with our donor for his second and final donation. Everything went really smoothly on Friday, so I’m hoping that it all goes well again today. They haven’t given us any specific news about his numbers from the first sample, but I’m guessing that no news is good news for now.
I was a little bit bummed after checking in with the RE nurses on Friday, since they mentioned that it’s unlikely that we’ll be able to do a November FET. They said the PGS results have been taking about two weeks to get back recently, so I’ll most likely have to wait until December. I’m still going to be so excited for our huge November group of FET ladies!
Last night DH and I took our donor and my BFF to one of our favorite places where we all used to hang out together. They have fantastic food and it was nice to feel like everything was “normal.”
Any questions? I totally wanted to start melatonin with the first night of stims and forgot. Do you think it's still worthwhile to start tonight on Day 3 of stims?

How are things going? Had a dark weekend. I went to a funeral Friday for my friend's father in law and it just made me really sad and feel self-destructive so I drank a lot.
Any questions? Did any of you get some serious depression on clomid? I think you did @TravelingCouple?? I felt fine initially but I can't tell if it is just the combination of the canceled cycle, and then the funeral reminding me of my dad's that put me in a tailspin but I cannot get out of this funk.

@JuneRoseRuby I'm sorry for your rough weekend. I didn't get depression on Clomid but I had pretty bad anxiety and moodiness. I told DH if I hadn't already taken it for the three cycles that the RE suggested, I wouldn't agree to take it again because I hated the side effects so much.

@JuneRoseRuby You are not alone in feeling depressed on Clomid, as I've seen many women (not just on TB) mention that they seem to lose their normally bubbly personalities on the meds. It sounds like you've had a lot going on all at once that's not helping the situation. I would definitely let your doc know that this is happening. We are here for you. Sending an internet hug your way.

How are things going? Spotting has started and I am cramping. AF should be here tonight/tomorrow. Sad this last IUI didn't work but I didn't expect it. I knew in my gut for a while we would end up at IVF. Mostly annoyed that I have to do 2 more cycles on medication just for show for insurance and super hoping tomorrow my u/s doesn't show cysts so I can get that show on the road.

How are things going? I did remember last week that I registered DH and I for a webinar with an adoption agency that's coming up in mid October. We talked about it and decided we'll attend since we're already registered, and it's online so super easy. So that's something.
It's funny how even after almost 2 years, I'm still way too hopeful this cycle. Even though my brain keeps telling me that nothing is different and there's no reason to be hopeful, it does me no good. Setting myself up for another disappointment.

@juneroseruby I never took Clomid, I did Letrozole. Once I added in the injectibles, it was awful for me. I experienced depression like I never have before, even suicidal thoughts. When I told the RE nurse, she brushed it off as "PMS" and that's when we knew we were done with that practice. You are definitely not alone. The meds already mess with your hormones, and then the added disappointment that the cycle brings is compounded. I completely understand. It's a tough place to be. I never felt like I could talk to my RE and he would hear me out, but if yours will, tell them your side effects to see if they can try something else maybe.
im glad things seem to be going well, even with the stims hiccup. Doing needles yourselves is scary!!!

PS if you do need to do IUI, there are lots of internal ultrasounds to watch your follie grow grow grow!! Kinda cool to see the difference every few days and really get an idea of what your body does monthly. But I'm hoping you don't need any of it!
@JuneRoseRuby I'm so sorry that this weekend hit you so hard. I seemed to have reacted ok to the clomid. My dr did say it could cause bad mood swings but I'm sure with a combination of everything else, it could make you get to a pretty bad place. Take care of yourself, we're here if you need us

How are things going? Meh. I took some time off from things while DH and I tried to figure out our plan moving forward. After talking things over with the RE and finding out how much everything was going to cost us (since we are pretty much completely OOP) we have decided to push IVF back one more cycle and do one more IUI while we try to get things together financially. Still haven't totally decided how I feel about this since my rational side knows that this was a smarter move, but my impatient side just wants to get things moving. Knowing that IVF is looming in the future I kind of just feel like this cycle on our own and doing another IUI is almost just a waste of time. However, on a happier note, I finally moved into my new position at work and got my raise that I have been fighting for since March! I feel like this pay bump could not have come at a better time, and I am hoping that maybe this is a sign that things may be starting to look up.

@JuneRoseRuby I have taken two cycles of Clomid in the past, and both times my mood swings were off the charts. I was mainly angry. Like an intense anger. I cried in frustration at the drop of a hat. It kind if scared me, and I never felt like myself while taking it. I would second seeing if you could switch to something different. I'm so sorry about your rough week. I hope you can get out of your funk soon, but if not, be kind to yourself. Sounds like you've been through a lot, and just need some time to process everything

@rvamom315 I'm with you on the Friday end to the TWW. It's good you have the clear plan set out for your first IUI in case you're not KU this time. I find having plans and options all laid out reassuring in stressful times.
@alohakumu ha - we were the same with first injections, super cocky that we knew what we were doing until we actually came to do it and the first night took about 30 minutes! By the last night it was less than 30 seconds! Hope the second donation ran smoothly and you've got some good results back on the swimmers! And that's a real pain with waiting, but maybe there is an option with bcp to just alter your cycle a little to make it as soon as possible after the results? Unless you have any contra-indications to BCP of course.

Short update- first FRER was a bfn this morning. My chart is still super pretty but could be caused by the progesterone- so I guess there's no way to really know before Friday!

@adirat, I know it feels so close...and yet, still so far away, haha. I honestly didn't think I'd be this wound up when we got here. We've known this was the likely end result for some time so it's not like it came as a surprise. I think it's just because it seemed like we were never going to get here and then H was on board so suddenly that my head never really got time to adjust. We're doing okay, H hasn't really wanted to talk about it but seems to have a pretty realistic view of the situation. I've talked him into keeping the pool of people who know we're proceeding with IVF limited, so hopefully his parents and sister abide by our request and don't tell anyone.
Short on time but will provide non-update later (yay for being benched).

AFM, my non-update...
Having a hard time convincing DW to even try mini IVF
I'm following some ladies on WTE who are doing INVOcell and they're having really good results from it so I do want to push for that over IUI. I just need to convince DW it's the right course of action. She's insisting on trying again herself, though. I thought she'd be relieved that I'm willing to take on the burden of fertility treatments and pregnancy but I dunno. I'm much more resilient than she is to disappointment. We shall see.
In the meantime I'm just focusing on losing weight and improving my health. Not really sure what the next steps will be for us but I'm here cheering you all on
