our carseat arrived! It was 31% off on targets carseat sale and we got another 20% off by turning in a really olds carseat we had hanging around in storage for the last few years.
Also, do all the registry gifts come with bottles?
I didn't know where to put this, so I'll put it here: My best friend
(who just had her baby) gave me a "third trimester survival kit" that
included this belly band: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MS65SV9
It's
the Maves brand. I like it better already than the one I bought myself!
It could just be that the one I bought is still too big, and this one
is more adjustable.

@mamaof5already do you mean the gift bags they give you for creating a registry?? If so, then yes all the ones I've gotten had at least one bottle.
I'm so exited, today I'm finally feeling kicks for sure. I'm 18 weeks and I thought for sure I'd feel movement earlier since I'm a STM. And it's library storytime day so I have an excuse to get out of the house that won't cost me anything. Double thumbs up to today so far.
Waffles are not just pancakes with abs, they are on whole other level of deliciousness. Pancakes are boring. I am so pregnant that I felt the need to make that statement.

DH sent me this beautiful fall plant/flowers thing that I'm desperately trying to keep alive in my office. I was irrationally worried about it at 3 this morning. I've enlisted the help of my secretary, but I'm still concerned. Its like if I can't keep this stupid plant alive what hope is there for me as a mother? How silly is that?
Waffles > pancakes. Now i may make kodiak cake waffles for dinner, mmm protein.
I have my 3 hour glucose test tomorrow. I am dreadfully nervous and kinda mentally preparing to have GD. Any advice for anyone who's been through it before?
I've only done the one hour test @clc515. Someone told me to eat a good amount of protein. Not sure if that actually does anything or just another piece of crazy advice.

I think that's so you're blood sugar doesn't drop from fasting but also doesn't rise too quick like a good shot of carbs would.

@ash0625 When DH and I started talking about kids we got a plant to take care of. It roasted on our patio while we were at work the next day. DD has made it 18.5 months though
@ash0625 Haha I’m a total plant killer. I forget about them and let them die and then try to revive them and then give up and get new ones to kill. DH came home the other day with a little potted mum and said he got me a new victim. I have two little potted shamrocks that I got on St Patrick’s Day the last couple years and they are the only plants I’ve been able to keep alive and that’s only because they have died and regenerated like 8 times. They take abuse well apparently! Oh and I’ve managed to keep my tiny human alive for 15 months and he’s usually more demanding than plants And more fun to take care of!

A co-worker got married over the weekend and brought in the leftover gigantic chocolate chip cookies from the party. Best. Day. At. Work. EVER. (On one hand, it's sad that cookies make it the best day, but on the other hand, they were damn good cookies.)
@babybro218 It's good to find joy in the little things in life. Like when I see a dog when I'm out and about, it just makes my whole day.

Any of you have any experience with postpartum depression? My best friend is having some baby blues and I am not sure how to help. She is very withdrawn (I get it, she has a newborn so we aren't going to talk as much), but has expressed how lonely she feels, but doesn't want visitors. Any ideas of what I can do to help her? I don't want to be annoying, but I hate seeing her hurt like this.
Sorry for the serious convo shift as we talk about giant chocolate chip cookies and Kylie Jenner!
@the_other_mother It's possibly me. With this pretty brain, I swear I can't remember my own name! Oh, nope, it's not. I'm old enough to be her mother.
Funny enough... I was talking about possible baby names with my 14 y.o. DD last night. I told her I loved the name Coraline and she told me to dress up as The Other Mother for Halloween. And to not use the name Coraline because she would be jealous.
@magnolia305 I struggled with it after DS was born. Going to new mom support groups helped me big time, as did seeing a counselor. Not sure if she would be receptive to counseling, but maybe suggesting a support group to her? And perhaps even more than suggest it. See if you can find some groups in her area (they are usually free or donation-based) and let her specifically know the times and days. Give her all of the information she needs so she doesn't have to do any legwork. Try to get her husband on board to encourage her to go, as well. I was so paralyzed by my PPD that even when someone suggested I try out a support group, I had a passing thought of "that might be helpful" but it wasn't until my husband literally drove me to one and walked me in that I actually got to one. And even if she seems withdrawn or says she doesn't want visitors, be persistent in reaching out to her/stopping by if you live close enough. Coordinate with her husband on a good time for you to take her somewhere without the baby, where she can feel a little more like her "old" self and maybe will open up to you a bit.
I had PPD after DD was born and was hospitalized for it. In all honesty, I am not sure any of my friends could have done anything for me. My DH is the one who pushed for my OB to admit me. But I think I had a fairly severe case of it. I would just keep reaching out and asking her if she needs anything or would like company. You never know, you could end up being the support she needs in a random given moment.

You guys, Kylie Jenner is pregnant and due in February. So I just have one question........
Which one of you is her??? Show yourself!!!
She'd be a knottie that only does memememe AW posts and calls us all mean. She could have already GBCB by now.
She's xmasbaby15/love-mom-life!! Except that lady already has a kid. Dammit, back to sleuthing.

@magnolia305 I never had PPD but I do remember the loneliness of being a new mom and the first of my friends to have a baby. What helped the most was simply getting out. The more I got out and about the less tired I would be. Many family resources centres have groups for new moms weekly to meet. Those are a great way to meet other people, see you are not alone, and show off her baby. Our local group is for pregnant moms and moms with babies up to six month so if there was a group like that maybe you could even go together.
Also, maybe inviting her to your place or inviting her to meet outside the house. I remember as a first time mom the last thing I wanted was visitors coming over to see my messy house

Got the call today that my health insurance breast pump shipped! Was surprised they sent it this early. I was told they don't usually send them until 30 days prior to delivery.

@magnolia305 I was never diagnosed with PPD but I strongly suspect I had it after my first. The transition to motherhood was extremely hard for me. Honestly, my sister came into town and forced me to go out to eat with her. No where fancy... but it made a huge difference! I would just keep encouraging her to go out and do things, invite her over, invite her out… Things like that.
tryin ghard to prepare myself for labor better this time. Exercising more is starting to get hard. I'm allergic to all this fall stuff coming out. My labor with my first was so much better than my second... and I definitely attribute it yobeing in better shape. It was so much easier as a FTM!
@rainafire77@chucksmom15 and anyone else who got it through insurance: did you use the aeroflow website to verify insurance and all that or somewhere else? I couldn't get aeroflow to submit (I hit the submit button and nothing happened) so I tried another site but haven't been contacted yet.
