Re: FFFC 9/22

  • DD is 18 months today. She still has a bottle of milk at bed time. She was really stubborn around 12 months when I tried to transition her out of it, and honestly at a certain point I just decided I didn't want to mess with the bedtime routine until we had to. And today we have to (ped said we have to go cold turkey at 18 months). Last night I gave her the last bottle, and after she was in bed I just sat on the couch holding the bottle and sobbing. Tonight I don't think we'll get much sleep.

Our girls are VERY close in age. We quit cold turkey with the bottle at 12 months but gave her a sippy instead. It took about a week. Good luck
  • My FFFC is that it's 10 am and I've already cried twice today because of a bitchy co-worker getting in my face this morning.

That sucks.  Sorry to hear that.  Maybe you'll have a FFFC this afternoon telling us that she was a victim of the infamous throat punch.  We would all cheer.
  • We don't limit screen time. At all. DD isnt suffering from it and it makes my life easier.
Me neither. Maybe someday I will if needed but right now, nope. I like having it on for the noise anyways, plus it buys me time for quick chores like dishes or a load of laundry so everyone wins.

  • @olitwinturbosnprincess I have the same FFFC! It's nice to see "real" photos of what motherhood/impending motherhood actually looks like, and not the contrived/staged nonsense that's typical of social media.
  • @olitwinturbosnprincess if you saw the rest of my house you would feel better lol.  Our bathroom stays pretty clean but the rest of it is debateable some days.
  • Mine is that the Fit Mom Friday thread makes me grumpy. I accidentally clicked on it and now I have notifications that drive me bonkers, but I haven't really truly exercised since pre-pregnancy. I work 60+ hours a week and when I'm not at work I want to snuggle DH, the dogs, and take a nap. I'm jealous of all the motivation happening over there!
  • It drives me crazy that kids are coming to preschool lacking any fine motor skills.  Or basic 4 year old skills in general.  Why aren't they coloring?  A majority of them have never used playdoh.  Scissors--forget about it.  But they can all show me how to work my iphone  :/

@magnolia305 that is awful! Poor kids dont know what their missing and I cant imagine how that effects their development.

My ffc: my DD turned 2 in july. I just called today to make her wellness visit at drs and they cant get her in until December. I hope she isnt behind on vaccines. I may have to find another option
  • FFFC: I am a substitute teacher and have accepted 0 days this school year... zero. None.

This is #4 baby and first trimester was awful and then I am still so tired with headaches every day now at 18 weeks. I just can't make myself go in... even debating quitting because I don't know that 3rd trimester is going to be any better and then i'm going to have the new baby home. All you moms going to work daily are superheroes.

Same.  I limit what is on, but even if I'm home by myself the TV is on for background noise.
  • I fed my kids a very healthy raw all organic lunch while I hid in the other room eating a kit kat :/.  Two hours later still have not really eaten a real lunch. Oh well.

  • @Starynightsky24 kit kats are my weakness! I guess at least it wasnt the other way around!
  • piggybacking off of @Starynightsky24 I pretty much hide/eat all food without DD because if I actually feel like eating I don't want her grubby hands and gaping mouth taking my food.
  • My DD is 2.5 and still gets a bottle of milk before nap and bed
she also still uses a soother at home and in the car. shes so snuggly with me when she has her soother and I'm not ready to let that go.

  • My FFC is that I LOVE all of the movies Hallmark puts out. The cheesier the better. I pvr every single one I can find, especially around Christmas time.

Super bummed we can't get the Hallmark channel in Canada. I have considered buying an android box just so I can have all the movies.
  • DD is 13 months and we still do a sippy cup with milk before bedtime. We brush her teeth afterwards, so I don't see the big deal with quitting this anytime soon.

FFFC: I had a bowl of ice cream every single day this week. A whole carton of double fudge brownie is gone.

  • @olitwinturbosnprincess I am totally one of those people with the messy house!! And sadly it's just normal! It gets cleaned eventually and then messy once my son wakes up again!

My FFFC is that I have chips hidden from my DH. He has started a diet and can't have any sugar or
carbs and I LOVE chips so they are hidden at the bottom of the pantry behind the potatoes (since he can't eat the potatoes!)
  • Not sure I felt FFFC or bitchfest buuutttt.

We had an impromptu meeting at the homeschool co-op after lunch about how things are going and one mom was mad about how "academic" it was......
Her daughters are both in the teen age class (12-18). "This is supposed to be fun!" Okay.... if they were in traditional school they would be doing classwork all day. We have to have an academic component for homeschool families that use EPIC for it to count as a homeschool day. This was discussed at both meetings prior to enrollment.
Then, she complained about my "class" (3&4year olds) being too academic. 1. Here's what we did today: for "history/geography" we talked about where Greece is on a map. We talked about how the Ancient Greek started the Olympics. We went outside and had our own "Little Learners" Olympics with shot put and races. We came inside and made our own laurel wreaths out of paper plates, construction paper leaves, and glue.
For art- they fingerpainted with colored yogurt.
They had a snack and listened to a story for "English".
For science, we talked about how light shines through water droplets in the sky and makes rainbows. So we made our own rainbows with wax paper, tissue paper, and glue.
For "Math", we counted how many people are in our class and then counted pieces of left over tissue paper up to five. Then we played silly games the rest of our time.
    Toootttaalllly super duper academic.
    2. If you don't have a kid in my "class" and aren't the director of the coop, then IDGAF what you have to say about my class and how it's run.

Ok does she think that school is supposed to be just fun & games? I weep for her kids if she thinks they shouldn't be learning anything "academic".

  • @TattoosandLace I agree with @Starynightsky24 I love the idea of those lessons. Screw her.

  • @TattoosandLace can I have your energy. Also feel free to share what arts and crafts your doing lol DS doesn't have pre school on Wednesdays so I try and do things with him to keep his skills in motion.

I bet the kids are having fun too. Dumb lady.
  • @TattoosandLace Your lessons sound awesome and I don't understand participating in homeschool and not expecting your kids to learn things.....ummmm. What.

As someone who was homeschooled till 9th grade and also a certified elementary school teacher I applaud those lessons. Don't listen to her. She can pull her kid out if she wants. So ridiculous.
Thank you so much! The kicker is her kids are in the high school group! She doesn't have any kids younger than 13!
