Thankfully I don't think my names are unrealistic. For a Girl: Sarah which is my sister's name, SO's sister's name, and my maternal grandmother's name. Middle name is a toss up, possibly Joyce after my aunt who never had any children of her own but I adore her dearly. For a Boy - my heart is set on Owen Timothy or Owen Keith (SO's late father's name is Keith, Timothy is the name of my uncle who has stage IV cancer) What style of names do you like? Current and Classic, names with a family connection If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? DS is Blake Charles (middle name after my dad).
So for a girl we are pretty set on Elinor and we've been tossing around Rose as a middle name. But today I thought of Rae. I'm not sure. It just interested me. DH is okay with it. I feel like it's less feminine but not bad. I don't know.
@sparkymcgeee my daughters name is Caroline Rae. It's a family name for me but I love it. I do embroidery and Ellie Rae was always the name I used on samples.
I'm a kindergarten teacher and I feel like figuring out how to pronounce the students names isn't too bad. It's nothing compared to figuring out what they are saying in the narrative writing though haha! Some interesting ones that take the cake are: Ryghtous (righteous), Yndypyndynce (indepentence) ~~~~~~~~ Any whoo~ These are my names.
If you were to have any name your heart desired for your baby what would it be? And why won't you use it? I would have liked to use a Japanese name, but I think it would be nice as a middle name (As a kid I always wished my name was more ethnic. Allison is my first name and my middle name is Miyeko. I am Japanese American by the way haha!)
Now give the realistic choices you might actually end up with? Girls: Amy, April, Artemis (thats as unusual as I get with names) Boy: Atticus, Austin, Archer, Adrian (not my DH's favorite out of the list)
What style of names do you like? Girl names I normally like names that aren't too girly and my DH likes that they begin with A (our names are Allison and Andrew). Boy names are a different story I'm not too picky I just don't want it to be long and again my DH likes A names haha!
If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? Do you have a sibset in mind? no not really LOL
One of your three girl name choices is my DD's name! All three are great choices.
After going through this thread and going over our girl names again, I'm realizing that I don't love any of the names on our list. why is it so hard to name kids?
@rowboat4 I'm having the same issue with girl names!! We either can't agree on them or I don't love them a few days later.
This was our problem with DD too. She didn't have a name until after she was born. Boy names have been pretty easy for us both times. I'm not concerned about boy names at all.
If you were to have any name your heart desired for your baby what would it be? And why won't you use it? I love Penelope witht he nickname Poppy (you have great taste @justsuzie ) but we have a three syllable last name that begins with "Pop" and ends with a long E sound, so it sounds ridiculous. I also love Philipa/Pippa and William but I have a Kate (Catherine), so I can't use any of those. I can't use one of my other favorites, Henry, either because she's named after Catherine of Aragon, first wife of Henry the VIII.
Now give the realistic choices you might actually end up with? For a girl, we are liking Miriam, Rosalie, and Iris, with Éponine as a middle name because I played the character and fell in love with the story of redeeming love and IDGAF who side eyes it. For a boy we love Leo and Gabriel with the middle name Constantine.
What style of names do you like? I love older names, especially if they are "strong names", and have a historical background. I am a self proclaimed name snob and an etymology freak, and pay close attention to name meaning. Even if I love a name, I won't use it if I don't like the meaning.
If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? Do you have a sibset in mind? Catherine Victoria and Andrew Richard. We also have a baby in heaven who we strongly felt was a girl, so we named her Natalia Ann-Marie.
DS1 is Gabriel and I still adore the name ( and the shortened version Gabe.) we also love the name Henry for a boy. We have 2 boys already so have made our short lists before!
For a girl I love the name Nia. It's Welsh and means Brightness. DH wasn't so keen at first but has warmed up to it ( I've been working on him since our first pregnancy lol) For middle names we always use family names and I really want to use my mams: Rhianon. So if we have a girl she will be Nia Rhianon Elysabeth.
Wehave used a lot of family names with DS1 and DS2 so if we have another boy I'm not sure what we'll go for. I also love Rafael for a boy but we already have a Rafi in the family.
Is Elysabeth your last name? My name is spelled Elisabeth, and that's been pretty challenging for me... so many people misspell it.

DH wanted to spell DD's name Elisabeth because that's the way it's spelled in the Bible. I told him no for two reasons. One, everyone would spell it wrong and two, we wouldn't be able to use Eliza as a nickname. She's named after my great grandmother so it was kind of a big deal.
If you were to have any name your heart desired for your baby what would it be? And why won't you use it? If I have a girl I want to name her Ember I absolutely love it and my husband is on board with it. Why won't I use it... well because my luck baby is a boy.
Now give the realistic choices you might actually end up with? Not even sure I have 3 boys already so we are stuck
What style of names do you like? I like unique not common names
If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? Do you have a sibset in mind? Wyatt James, Archer Layne, and Mason Edward Michael
If you were to have any name your heart desired for your baby what would it be? And why won't you use it? I love Amelia and lily for girls and my husband has vetoed both. In fact I feel like not going over baby names in premarital counciling was a major deficit. I also love Garrett for a boy hubs not so much.
Now give the realistic choices you might actually end up with? Probably Andrew for a boy and Catherine for a girl but I'm still holding out for Garrett or Amelia.
What style of names do you like? Older names that have somehow become super trendy
If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? Do you have a sibset in mind? DD is Sophia after my husband was dead set on Deborah or Susan.... he came home from work said what do you think of Sophia and I said done
This list gave me 2 potential girl names, so thank you ladies!
DH and I have similar taste in names. We like more classic and names that are spelled "the correct way" for lack of better term this early in the morning.
For our twins, we picked middle names first due to them being family names and then we worked outwards from there. I am a little nutty in that I wanted them to be the same amount of syllables so they're 3, 1, 2. I'd like to do that same pattern with this one, but again, I'm away that may be a little too much.
DH gets middle naming power on this child if he would like to use a family name. Otherwise, it's fair game.
Girls names I now have on my phone list-
Eloise, Lenora, Juliet
Boy names, I have none. Which further pushes my theory that this is a boy.

My grandmother was Elysabeth and its one of my middle names. It's the Welsh spelling and does get miss spelled a bit in England, but as its a middle name doesn't come up much. DH's great grandmother was Annie Elizabeth and I have her ring as my engagement ring, so it's a family name from both sides!
I LOVE that we have this name thread- I'm a huge name nerd!
If you were to have any name your heart desired for your baby what would it be? And why won't you use it? Adele (Addie), Lorelei (Rory) or Felicity. DH vetoed them all.
Now give the realistic choices you might actually end up with? James Wesley for a boy has been set for a while, but we don't make boys! Girls are tougher because we can't agre. At this point front runners are Juniper or Josephine.
What style of names do you like? Old fashioned but unique names that have a full name and a nickname option. The more nickname options the better.
If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? Do you have a sibset in mind? #3 will be a sibling for I$la Rose and M@gnolia @nn.
I think I decided on a new boy name. Thomas Peter. Still incorporates my love of Peter but I also get a newer love of Thomas in there. I always wondered if it work because I have a brother Tim. So I wrote it off a bit but screw that.
If you were to have any name your heart desired for your baby what would it be? And why won't you use it? Henny. It was my grandma's name. DH hates it.
Now give the realistic choices you might actually end up with? A girl name will start with an S and a boy name will start with a J (to match the other 4 kids)
What style of names do you like? Shorter names that are classic
If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? Do you have a sibset in mind? Jon, Joel, Susanna, Scarlett (in order of age). The naming wasn't intentional. one boy and one girl are bio, the other two came to us named (foster care).
Married DH : 7/7/12; 3 fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat) DS born 9/3/13; DD born 7/22/15; LO due 5/28/18 FS (age 5) and FD (age 2) to become AS/AD very soon!
If you were to have any name your heart desired for your baby what would it be? And why won't you use it? Harper or Ingrid for a girl. Both don't flow well with the other kid's names or match up with potential middle names. Also love Penelope but can't come up with a good nick name for it.
Now give the realistic choices you might actually end up with? Maximo for a boy. Brooklyn, Bradley, or Maddy for a girl
What style of names do you like? We like the idea of boy names for a girl and we also unintentionally stumbled across an M theme with our first two. Unless it's a boy (because we aren't budging on Max) we plan to break the cycle with the 3rd and change up the sibset.
If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? Do you have a sibset in mind? Murphy and Marlie. Sibset for these two would be both are M names and end with the same long E sound. For baby #3: Murphy, Marlie, and (Max for a boy). Keeping the M. For a girl, Murphy, Marlie, and Maddy to keep the sibset. Or Murphy, Marlie, and Bradley to keep just the long E. Or Murphy, Marlie, and Brooklyn to straight up change things! I sorta feel like if we go with Brooklyn, we would have to have a 4th to balance it. Lol

If you were to have any name your heart desired for your baby what would it be? And why won't you use it? Arden was my favorite girl's name since I was 16, but DH is not down
Now give the realistic choices you might actually end up with? Lincoln, Fox, Calvin; Bay, Georgia, Pauline.
What style of names do you like? I usually like contemporary/uncommon or vintage-y names.
If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? Do you have a sibset in mind? FTM
If you were to have any name your heart desired for your baby what would it be? And why won't you use it? I love Atticus for a boy but DH and I picked a boys name 7 yrs ago and have yet to use it. Not sure for a girl.
Now give the realistic choices you might actually end up with? We have not picked a girls name but a boy will be Robert Dale. After mine and DH's dads. I love Fiona for a girl. All of my girrls have 4 name because I do. So we will continue that trend if this one is a girl.
What style of names do you like? non common names. I do not want my kids to be 1 of 6 in their class with the same name.
If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? AnnaBelle, Moira, Evelyn and Julianna.
Re: Super Early, Super Unnecessary, Baby name thread
For a Boy - my heart is set on Owen Timothy or Owen Keith (SO's late father's name is Keith, Timothy is the name of my uncle who has stage IV cancer)
What style of names do you like? Current and Classic, names with a family connection
If you're comfortable sharing your other children's names what are they? DS is Blake Charles (middle name after my dad).
