  • What was your first job? i lived at a camp and retreat center in the mountains an hour from the nearest town. I got to work in the kitchen there for years.

What do you for a living now? I'm a program manager at a technical college and do contract database work on the side.

Is it your forever job? it could be... But I'd love to end up in information organization, I got my MLIS so either a library or something more technical would be up my alley.

Is there a different job you'd rather have? If so, what? Oops, see above answer.

Name one thing you love about your job. it's super flexible, I set my own hours and rarely see my boss.

Name one thing you hate about your job it's really great honestly... No maternity leave plan is the one downside I guess!

  • What was your first job? working food stands at an amusement park

What do you for a living now? I'm a behavior specialist consultant. I work with kids with Autism, ADHD, etc. at home and school. I work part time (usually 3 long days).

Is it your forever job? I hope to stay with my company but work a full time position once my kids are all in school, possibly before. I can't seem to make the leap to full time right now because I love being with my kids the other times.

Is there a different job you'd rather have? If so, what?I've always wanted to help kids, so something in similar field but possibly doing something a bit different

Name one thing you love about your job. making a difference, helping kids, seeing how much parents appreciate the help and advice I give them

Name one thing you hate about your job.my schedule is flexible but I have to make it each week and sometimes that's a job in and of itself

  • What was your first job? Helped manage my aunt's boarding kennel

What do you for a living now? Emergency veterinary technician

Is it your forever job? Probably

Is there a different job you'd rather have? If so, what? SAHM

Name one thing you love about your job. Seeing animals get better and leave the hospital

Name one thing you hate about your job. Watching animals suffer because some people don't ever give up

  • What was your first job? Babysitting I guess (I did it 40 hrs a week during my summers) or working for a day program for adults with severe/profound intellectual disabilities.

What do you for a living now? Children's Librarian in a small town in the midwest (hello to the other librarians!)

Is it your forever job? Librarian is for sure

Is there a different job you'd rather have? I think I'd really like to be a medical librarian in a hospital library open to the public-giving people information to advocate for themselves and their children in medical settings.

Name one thing you love about your job. Being an important part of so many people's lives-also, being a parent advocate in the community.

Name one thing you hate about your job. Having to act perky and upbeat no matter how I'm feeling.

  • What was your first job?

I worked as a camp counselor at a girl scout camp.

What do you for a living now?

I'm the catering and retail manager for dining services at a University.

    Is it your forever job?

I do enjoy it, but I'm not sure if this is my forever job.

Is there a different job you'd rather have? If so, what?

I would eventually like to eventually get out of food service - probably just a management until a different industry.

Name one thing you love about your job.

I love planning large events. It's super satisfying when everything runs smoothly and all the guests are enjoying themselves.

Name one thing you hate about your job.

The hours aren't always great for family. Weekends aren't always guaranteed and neither is the time I'm done depending on what's happening that day.

  • @hollieileen and @okaykoala I'm a vegetarian too! Ten year anniversary for me :) So far no meat cravings, thank goodness.

@mileswithmyles I am the worst gift wrapper. It looks like a toddler wrapped my presents...and that might be offensive to the toddler.

What was your first job? Similar to @kgj77 I worked as kitchen staff at a summer camp (one I attended growing up). I have ulcerative colitis and had my first serious flare that summer and had to leave camp/work halfway through the summer.

What do you for a living now? I just quit my job in April. I was an engineer at an electric, steam, and gas utility company in NYC. My commute was 3.5 hours roundtrip and we wanted to have kids, so we made the decision for me to quit for now.

Is it your forever job? I am excited to get promoted from housewife to SAHM :D (fingers crossed). I think some day (when we finish having kids and they are in school), I'll look to do something new.

Is there a different job you'd rather have? If so, what? @craftyG Opening an Etsy shop is my dream too! Not sure what I realistically want to do for a future career.

Name one thing you love about your job. Agree with @lincbeesmom on the all-day PJs. I like that I now have ample time to go to the gym and run errands. And no more horror commute.

Name one thing you hate about your job. It is a little weird not having coworkers or people to hang out with/talk to all day. I am guessing this feeling will be exacerbated with a little one I only speak baby talk to...so we'll see what the future holds.

  • @Saratiff girl yes, staffing all over the hospital...
  • @silverhope I caved last pregnancy  :# I'm craving all the meat now... my husband after 13 years caved from the stress of dealing with my hormonal ass as well... he says bacon is the gateway meat! Stay strong, lady!  :)
  • What was your first job? Aside from babysitting, I worked at a grocery store in high school. I was a front end manager for most of my time there and loved when customers would get upset because they asked for a manager, and I was only 16 so they assumed it wasn't me.

What do you for a living now? I'm a high school math teacher.

Is it your forever job? Most likely, but we will move states in 4 years when we satisfy our vestments in this pension system.

Is there a different job you'd rather have? If so, what? I loved being a nanny. I made really good money and spent many days at museums and walking around Boston. Sadly the area we live in now and will live in later is very poor and rural and a nanny job would not be something I could make a living doing.

Name one thing you love about your job. My students and pushing them to levels they didn't think they could reach.

Name one thing you hate about your job. Parents who think their child is the most perfect and would never do anything wrong, or know they do and don't think there's a problem with it.

  • What was your first job? A cashier at a landscaping company/plant nursery.

What do you for a living now? Finance Manager for a defense contractor

Is it your forever job? Forever field, not sure about this particular job.

Is there a different job you'd rather have? If so, what? Not right now. This is perfect right now. Unless doing nothing and still getting paid this salary is an option. If so, I take that.

Name one thing you love about your job. The flexibility to take all of my kids to their various appointments.

Name one thing you hate about your job. Sometimes it is very stressful- I manage millions and millions of dollars, and one wrong decimal point can mean some serious damage.

Omg me too. I don't know what I do wrong but it always looks tragic. I try so hard too. I'm a gift bagger now.

Why does the bump keep cutting off half of my posts?!?
  • What was your first job? Working in a child care centre

What do you for a living now? SAHW (just finished my last interior design project)

Is it your forever job? Sort of, the position may change a bit as a SAHM ;)

Is there a different job you'd rather have? If so, what? Working in something community based, maybe through parenting or kid focus things (love the idea of running moms/kids groups with music or something fun) or for a church

Name one thing you love about your job. Being flexible to be there for friends, family or community. I love being able to meet others needs, and that's very satisfying

Name one thing you hate about your job. Not very challenging mentally..
