I need help, ladies. My husband's cousin's bachelorette party is next weekend, and one of the activities they have planned is a trip to Churchill Downs. Any suggestions for where to buy a hat that's not super expensive?? Or any crafty people have tips on how to make one? We're also touring a bourbon factory and I'm not super excited about it......I may just sit that one out....

@sandbar517 if you have somewhere like Icing (the more grown up Claire's) or a charming charlie around you can look for "fascinators" (think all the crazy little hats at williams and kate's wedding) you could probably get away with that or find a wide brim kind of floppy hat (target and walmart usually have them on clearance this time of year) and attach the fascinator to that!
Not sure where you live or what your budget is, but if you happen to be near Delaware, there's a place called "That's Hat's" they have some really cool stuff for a wide range of prices.
Also, check out some of the Halloween stores like Spirit Halloween, you never know what they'll have as costume accessories.
And when all else fails, theres always amazon and fast shipping lol

@hollieileen Yes. Like on edge the whole day. Although a coworker brought leftover cupcakes from her future DILs shower so I'm not as pissed at her as I was. It's a very Mondayish Monday so far.
Omg, so I don't know why I didn't think to post this before but I figured it should go here instead of symptoms since it's more of a side effect apparently...
Shingles.
That's right. I ended up with freaking shingles. I'm 31 and this is the second time I've had them (last time was 2 years ago) DH noticed it on my back when we were getting ready for bed the day of my bfp. boo. But I just finished the meds this weekend and never spiked a fever this time like I did before; which is good because that got scary high and I was debating going to the hospital at one point.
fml lol

I think I've lost weight. Not from eating healthy or working out. But from not wanting to eat and not eating much when I do. All thanks to the amazing nausea. Made it hard to hide at a reunion yesterday with 3 tables worth of food and I'm barely nibbling when normally I stuff myself silly.

I lose weight every pregnancy. My old OB was concerned when I was pregnant with DD but by the time DS came around she was just like "meh, pregnancy is your best diet." Which is true. I'm not thin anyway so I have lots to spare. I don't worry about weight loss (especially in first tri) unless the baby isn't growing. As long as you're not trying to lose weight then you'll be fine.
I do kind of want a chance to eat from 3 tables of food now though.
Also, I hope my new OB is cool like she was. I don't want to explain it all again and him give me lectures and reprimands. I don't do this on purpose guy.

I actually started a diet/exercise program a few days before I got my BFP and got Dr's permission to modify it. I've got plenty to spare as well, so while I've strayed from my program (quite a bit, actually), I'm not unhappy about the unintended weight loss lol!

It irritates the shit out of me when a Dr bitches at me for gaining weight while pregnant. You really think I want to be carrying around all this extra baggage, barely held up by my faltering core muscles? Right.
One of the OBs in my old office (which is one of the reasons they are now my old office) constantly yelled at me for gaining more than 1/2 lb-1 lb a week, even though I was having twins. I'm like, but that guideline is for a single pregnancy. He's like, "Nah, doesn't matter."

My last OB office had 2 Dr's and 1 NP that rotated each visit. The two male Doctors each fussed at me for gaining too much weight. The female NP told me not to worry about it. Just more proof that men have no idea what it's like, even as OB's!

Ugh, punch that guy in the face.
That was a little ragey for me, sorry. But seriously, punch

I'm bummed out! I just realized my appt next week is with the NP and I won't be getting an ultrasound. I know some people don't get one until 20 weeks, but I had been looking forward to it since I booked the appt. Blah!
@sparkymcgeee don't second guess your choice! There are three women and one man at my practice, I was sure I wasn't going to like him last time around and he's who ended up delivering me. He's now my favorite! So hopefully you have a great experience with your male OB too!!
Chips are not a spoon for queso dip. Eat the chip as well, you heathen.
Sincerely,
Your grumpy, pregnant mama (who didn't want to share with you to begin with.)
hahaha, my LO does this too, any type of dip is his jam and the chip is just a vehicle to get the dip into his mouth. When the chips run out, no worries, that's what his fingers are for!
@sparkymcgeee my last doctor was a guy and I'm tempted to drive to Texas for appointments and just stay there at 36 weeks until I deliver. He was awesome!
Me and DD just got back from Texas. Handed her off to DH and now I'm hiding in the bath. She doesn't like people outside of her "circle" so soloing trips home around people she doesn't know well is EXHAUSTING. Plus the drive home...she was over it. Even with an hour break to walk around Target. I'm mentally and physically shot.
@sharkmama39 Sunday MH went to an NFL game, so left me home with two 3 year olds almost all day, then came home and fell asleep on the couch because he was SO tired. He did at least make the girls dinner, so there's that. But, seriously, dude??

Crackers by bed are apparently going to be a thing now. I nearly lost it pretty much as soon as my alarm went off. I'm still not sure what will happen but I had a small snack in hopes that will curb it.
I just did a load of laundry that consisted only of 3 pair of jeans. I am THAT lazy and exhausted right now. I didn't want to deal with anything that couldn't go into the dryer or a large load that I have to put away immediately before it wrinkles...

I kept graham crackers in my nightstand from about 3 months through my entire pregnancy and then on while I was BFing.
Does anyone drink pregnancy tea? I love tea and bought some while browsing at the store but have no experience with it. Now I'm too nervous to drink it like a paranoid weirdo.

I bought some but I haven't opened it yet. I don't usually drink tea, but if I'm in the mood I'll go through an entire package in one week.
@tincupchalice I tried the RRL in my third tri last pregnancy. It could be completely coincidental but after drinking a cup I would get crazy contractions.
My son was just diagnosed with strep throat. Because I don't already have enough to do.
This is the fourth or fifth time (I've lost count) he's been sick in two months! In the summer! Everyone insists it's "normal" for him to be sick this many times since he's in daycare, but to me it feels like a LOT. Does anyone else's kid(s) get sick often?
