My UO is the use of the word Fur baby. I LOVE my pets. I have a massive dog and 2 cats and couldn't imagine them not being a part of my family. BUT - They are not my babies.... and I'm not their Fur mama.
Is my dog my best bud? Sure! I can get behind that... but baby? come on.
@bb3vj3n, your fur baby comment made me think of one of my pet peeves. And maybe an UO too.
I really dislike when people make posts on Fathers Day or Mothers Day about what a great dad/mom they are to their pet. It irks me. And I mean no disrespect to anyone who would love to be a parent and struggles with fertility and finds comfort in being there for their pet. It just really bugs me.
Same with Facebook announcements of the new addition to the family...and it's a dog/cat...
That reminded me about my Mother's Day pet peeve. I hate it when people who have a bad relationship with their mother or people who are sensitive to gender fluidity get on Facebook and denigrate the whole holiday. If Mother's Day is not for you, don't celebrate it. If you don't identify as a woman or mother, you can still be part of Mother's Day if you want, or if not you can celebrate Parents' Day in July. But there are plenty of women who identify as mothers and are happy to be celebrated for our motherhood on that day, and those people who post anti-Mother's Day posts just make us feel bad. And not a single one of those posts appeared on my news feed on Father's Day.
