@scuba_chic we will have the NT scan and sequential screen (same as with DD). If I were high risk or AMA, we'd have the others. I was 25 with DD and I'm 28 with this baby, so that's the reason behind my OB choosing that for me.
@peppersmith22 my previous OB who delivered DD saw I was spilling sugar into my urine at my first appointment at 8 weeks and ordered me to test then. I then had to take the blood glucose test 3 more times because of continued sugar spilling into my urine. I was diagnosed with GD, but because my OB was managing it poorly, I asked my care to be transferred to the perinatologist. I have what's called dumping syndrome due to a stomach surgery (nissen fundoplication, if you're interested ) but also have hypoglycemia which gives me the false negative on the 3 hour glucose test. If they've tested your urine at any of your appointments, please take spilling sugar with a grain of salt, as perinatology and my new OB have both said it's an old method and not really reliable because some women spill sugar the whole time. This pregnancy I've already decided that I will check my blood sugar at 26 weeks rather than take the test again. FWIW, DD was 8lbs 2oz, 21in and my OB swore she wouldn't be larger than 7lbs. Sorry GD issues are my soapbox, so /soapbox
@bagowater I didn't because I don't want to be seen. Also I'm too shy, lol. If it didn't have to be video I probably would have, bc I could definitely use that $30!

Same for me. Totally would've done it if it wasn't a video chat.
@scuba_chic I did the NT ultrasound and blood test when I was pregnant with DS, and I will do it again if it's an option. I'm AMA this time around, so I anticipate doing a DNA blood test. If I have the option to do both, I would.
And I'm not sure it's clear, but the non invasive blood tests like panorama aren't testing for heritable trisomies. They are testing for trisomies and other chromosomal abnormalities within the fetus. Most trisomies are not compatible with life and therefore are not heritable. I'm a geneticist, which is how I know about this.
@irenejean this was what I was trying to say in my post so when people say well a distant relative of mine has down syndrome so it's in my genes makes very little sense since most trisomy cases are not translocation.
@tooraloorah Interesting! I've heard of dumping syndrome but I didn't know that hypoglycemia could give false positives. I may be hitting you back up for more insight depending on how this goes!
SUPER late to the party here but @saralee797-2 I've done stitch fix for maternity! I like the stylist I have so she did a great job of picking styles that fit my tastes. I needed work blouses and I was sick of the same ones available through all the normal stores. I was happy with my Fix! It's not cheap but it was a nice treat. I only did one and just got shirts. My SIL did one once and got a variety-dress, pants, shirts, necklace etc. Since I knew I only needed shirts, I'm stocked up on the other stuff, I limited my fix.

I've been really tempted to do the video chat, but the only time I'd be available is in the evening, and that's when my MS and exhaustion sets in. I'd give the world's least polite answers. :P
@saralee797-2 I will note that my Fix was full of clothes designed for a big third trimester belly. I don't know if that was because that's what I asked for or if that was simply the nature of the maternity clothes available. I had room to grow in some of them... even at 40 weeks lol. Again, this was belly sizing, the rest of the size of the shirt fit normally (chest, shoulders, arm length etc).

The last time I was pregnant, I applied to the federal program to get a pump, and it was extremely nice. I was wondering if there is a lifetime limit (one per customer?), or if you can apply each time you are pregnant. Does anyone know?
@ngolimento I'm pretty sure @peppersmith22 is right and it's one per pregnancy, unless something has changed recently. Good friend who has a 1 and 3 year old got a pump with each pregnancy.

I'm pushing the application so early because I am worried Congress will butcher healthcare like souless evil bastards at any moment.
Legit concern
Yup, I worry about this a lot too. I have no idea what maternity benefits are going to look like in a couple of years if Congress keeps headed this way. Sounds like eventually having a vagina will be a preexisting condition.

@ngolimento it depends on insurance. Some say every pregnancy, some say every x amount of years. Most of the insurances that are available here(ky) have changed policies and won't let you get one until after 36 weeks or birth ( whichever comes first).

The last time they were talking about it, if you ever have been pregnant AT ALL (successful or not), you had a pre-existing condition. Also if you had ever been raped. So yeah, essentially everyone but nuns.
@ngolimento Yup, that's what happens when you have a bunch of old white men making decisions without the input of the rest of the population. Vaginas, not covered. Viagra, go have a party.
