Glucose test!

Re: Glucose test!

  • @ShePersisted I didn't take your comment that way at all. Sorry if my response sounded a bit harsh. It wasn't intended that way. Doctors will always take every route possible to ensure they aren't missing anything. I'm educated enough to know my risks and know that the doctors have to take those routes "just in case" because they are liable for my care. At this point I'm refusing, but my doctor may sway me on Wednesday.

  • I had a really bad experience with my test. I'm 27 weeks n 4 days pregnant n I did my test yesterday. With no food in my stomach since 11:00pm from the night before I drank the juice around 8:00am. It did taste good. By the time I got to my doctors around 9:00am I started to feel very sick to my stomach. I threw up around 5:00pm and had a fever followed by diaherria after... I'm still felling very sick from that poison drink; I can't eat or walk much. I just really hope I don't have to retake the test... I don't mean to scare anyine, but so far this was the worst experience during my pregnancy.
  • I made it through mine.   Results posted today and Im in the normal range.   So I really enjoyed the donut I had for breakfast this morning  :)
  • @rubyru07 There is pretty much no way that the drink gave you the runs and a fever. You must have had something else in your system. If you haven't gotten your flu shot and tDAp, you should do that ASAP. I hope you feel better soon. rubyru07 said:

  • Currently waiting for my hour to be up. I was told to eat normally but avoid excess sugar. They offered me orange or lemon-lime. I chose orange and thankfully it was chilled. When I met with the doc he asked me if I was still taking zofran (no) and if I had some on me (no) because that could be helpful if I started feeling sick. That would have been nice to mention at the last appt.
  • Passed my 1 hr!
  • Just finished my three hour. Feeling pretty crappy but just happy it is over. Now I wait for the results......
  • Had my appt today. I told the doctor I did not want to do the 3 hour test. She said I'd need to check my sugar 4 times a day for 2 weeks. I'm fine with that. I have to wait for the nurse to call me so I can get the glucometer and strips.

  • Finally got my glucose results back from my test in Friday...102!!!!! Bring on the pumpkin cheesecake bars!!

it wasn't bad, I got fruit punch that was cold. Basically tasted like the syrup from an otter pop or freezer pop as a kid felt a tad crummy by the end only because I had mine at 1145 so by blood draw time I was hungry and ready for lunch.

  • @DungeonTrollMel I had orange and I described it as a melted freezer pop! Congrats on passing!
  • My orange tasted like orange soda. Still haven't gotten my results since I took the test on 8/31. Finally got the nurse to call back and she left a message without the results even though my message asked her to leave them on voicemail since they are closed until after school starts, during my lunch, and after school. My only chance to get a hold of them is during my prep and she didn't answer or call back then. So frustrating.

  • @NYTino24 that is frustrating! They should call you sooner than that with results. Unless they said if you passed they wouldn't contact you, which is what my dr said for the 1 hour. I hope you get your results soon!
  • I'm no help because I actually like the taste of the drink. It tastes like an overly sugary orange soda. It's yummy!
I agree. I liked the taste. Reminded me of orange Powerade. I did find baby was extra active and I had a bit of gas.  But taste was great.
  • I passed with a 120. Whew!
