Re: Weekly Symptoms Thread | 9.5

  • @madie008 I felt like it took me longer to start feeling movement this pregnancy as well. My Dr told me even if it isn't your first it is still normal to not feel anything until between 16-18 weeks. It was like I went to the doctor and instantly started feeling all her little kicks and wiggles!

  • My day time "heartburn" is so strange. It doesn't feel like traditional heartburn. Instead, its like a gurgling or bubbling in my chest and sometimes near my throat. I cannot find a good way to describe it, but it is SO uncomfortable.
  • @madie008 I am 15 weeks too and in the first pregnancy but I haven't felt my baby. At least not that I know of. I guess maybe I just don't know what it feels like or what to look for? Hope that's normal.

That's how I was with DD and it's starting with this one too :( I used to wake up choking on it and had to keep antacids by the bed!
  • @alice0218 it's far more normal not to feel baby until after 17 weeks and for a lot of mothers heading towards 20 weeks and beyond!  second time or more mums can feel baby earlier probably as you said because they recognise the feelings better, baby it's still very small, and they are very small movement that you feel. Gas feels stronger at 15 weeks! Lol! Please do not worry unnecisarly!

Im a stm, and 15 weeks and thinking just maybe I'm maybe getting a little movement now but now 100%sure
  • @marissajc I'm thinking about starting Zantac or something. I have "normal" heartburn at night, but in the evening I'm a gurgley mess.

@ashhsa Exactly. I'm a FTM and every time I'm convinced I feel a flutter at 16+2 I pass gas a few moments later.
  • Everyone with back pain starting, I recommend buying shoes with memory foam soles. My husband dragged me to the shoe store when I was like 20 weeks and in agony in my first pregnancy to get new shoes. I hate buying expensive clothes, but those memory foam shoes were a GAME CHANGER. I didn't have any more (major) back pain until the end of the third trimester (when basically nothing helps except baby being born haha). First thing I did this pregnancy was run out to buy them again.
My mom has been here visiting for the last week.  She insisted I buy new tennis shoes because I'm pregnant and says I need the foot support so i don't fall over (eye roll).

I have been wearing my sketches memory foam  go go mat shoes for the part 2 days solid.  They are so much better than the flip flops I have been wearing all summer (just don't tell her that!)

    I got these ones:

  • Ugh. Heartburn and reflux so bad I feel like I'm going to puke.
  • I'm 19 weeks and pretty sure I havent felt baby. FTM with extra padding to begin with, so I have low expectations... plus I am constantly gassy so I just dont expect much lol.

Any time i had the gurgling kinda heartburn I couldnt keep tums down, so used zantac for that. Im still mostlu using tums but use zantac when it gets really bad.
  • @clc515 Yes, extra padding, I like that description! I haven't felt movement either but so much gas.
    Me: late 30s | H: early 30s
    TTC #1 since April 2015

    IUI #1 and #2, Nov/Dec 2016, BFN

    Polyp removed May 2017
    FET May 2017 - BFP!
    Baby boy born 2/2/18

  • @clc515 You may also have an anterior placenta. I have plenty of extra padding and I can remember feeling DD move before 20 weeks. With this one I started feeling flutters at 14 and 15 weeks. I'm currently 16 weeks.
  • @BrittaniLC So truthfully, I have no idea what "flutters" mean when people say they feel it! Like eyelash flutters on skin? Like bubble gut (hehehe)? Like something crawling but on the inside? Genuinely curious!
  • @clc515 it's very similar to a gassy feeling but the further along you get the more they will happen in the same spot and slowly get stronger. I was 18 weeks this past Monday and today the kicks were so strong my 8 yo could feel it when she put her hand on my belly! My husband was shocked when I told him. Once it's more consistent you'll know and then be able to tell if that's what it was before. It's really hard to tell though, even for moms that it isn't there first pregnancy!

People say butterfly wings etc. for me it always felt like a bunch of tiny bubbles popping, but not gas! With this pregnancy it's been one solid pop or bump feeling.

Also with DD I felt it once at 17, once at 18, once at 19 and then consistently after that. It's hard to catch!
  • Thanks for describing! Are these little flutters high? Low? I always think I'm supposed to feel it where the ultrasound tech uses the wand thing on my belly... but can it be anywhere?

I am so gassy all the time (like I wake myself up burping most nights) that I really think everything is gas! It doesn't help that I really enjoy carbonated water at the moment, lol.
  • @clc515 I feel mine maybe an inch below my belly button and it's always right in the center of my stomach but that's just for me!
  • @SarahFoley725 I just started feeling them consistently and that's where mine are too. Sometimes I feel what I can only describe as pushing inside. I wonder if organs are getting shoved out of the way. Lol

  • @clc515 you'll be looking to feel them below your belly button. My MD says  it'll feel like a quick "tap" of a finger in that area and that can help you know if it's gas vs LO's movements.

To me it all like gently being tickled. Like gently with the tips of your fingers. If that makes sense.

  • 15 weeks. Mainly just dealing with headaches here...pretty much every day. Thankfully exhaustion is starting to lift!

FTM and still haven't felt her move. :( Hopefully soon.
  • To me last time, I related mostly to the sensation of "popcorn popping" it certainly doesn't feel as weird or odd as you might expect a person swimming in your belly might feel, and feels very much like gas, and once you are sure you are feeling it, you might realise you have been feeling it for a little while and writing it off as gas.  :D
  • @mpp06 makes me feel better that it's normal! I lay and wait every night before I go to bed hoping I will feel the baby, lol hopefully it will be one night soon! I think this baby is also hiding further down then my son was. It also took a few weeks long to hear the heart with the Doppler and when they found it baby was waaaayy down in my pelvis.

@ash0625 ugh that terrible and I know exactly what you mean! I've been getting that too...I hate taking medication but it is such a relief with this! My favourite is just maalox. It's like a drink. Magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide. It is magical.
  • Those are really good descriptions of what "flutters" feel like, so happy for this forum! I'm still pretty sure it's been nothing so far, but at least I have an idea of what I'm looking for. Plus just below my belly button is my fluffiest part, lol, so we'll see how sensitive it is down there. It's kinda fun to have this to look forward to!
  • I am pretty sure I feel flutters now too! I am 17 weeks and a STM. With my first I didn't feel any kicks (well I didn't recognize them) until almost 23 weeks! I had no idea what I was supposed to
be feeling! This time around I can actually notice the flutters!
  • 17+2 TTM
    Mild yeast infection
    Mild head cold
My allergies are heightened, kicking my butt
    Insomnia
Mild hip and back pain when I sit for long stretches.
I'm feeling the baby moving intermittently after lunch and dinner.
Appetite is non existent but indigestion and gas are very real.
I've lost about 10 lbs but I started heavy so no concern from doctors.
  • @clc515 You may also have an anterior placenta. I have plenty of extra padding and I can remember feeling DD move before 20 weeks. With this one I started feeling flutters at 14 and 15 weeks. I'm currently 16 weeks.
I second the possibly anterior placenta. I have one this pregnancy (first time out of 4) and no flutters or kicks at 16w5d.  The doctors or ultrasound techs don't normally comment on placenta position unless it's previa. You'll have to ask.
  • @jlcrunchberry i think I may aso have a mild yeast infection. Such an irritating symptom, like it's not bad enough I'm stil puking, and my hip hurt, that gets thrown in the mix too. Oh well... just one of those things.

Right? Ugh. My hips and lower back are on fire today too. I feel like someone is pulling me apart like a wishbone.
  • Current symptom. Wanting to rip everyone's head off.
Ditto. I've been in the saltiest mood all week! Or I've been crying.

Me too! I've been snapping everyone's heads off and then I get so upset I cry. Last night DH & I saw IT. Very scary plus my clown phobia. Anywho we got home and I turned around and my husband was hiding behind the tree in our kitchen (hippie house) and just leaning over so all I saw was his head floating there. I screamed and burst into tears. He felt horrible and apologized. He normally will tease me like that & it's fine but last night was a definite bawl fest. Damn hormones.

  • +1 for wanting to rip everyone's head off. DH pulled a signature move last night and invited his younger (read: incredibly immature) cousin to hang out with us on the last day of a vacation I planned, and I cried myself to sleep. Then I went on to have 4 of the most vivid, bizarre dreams I've had since being pregnant.
  • I have a super annoying symptom. It started way later with DD but I cramp up after peeing. My doctor said it wasn't abnormal but man it sucks! At the end of my pregnancy with DD I would get really painful BH after peeing too. I hope that doesn't happen again  :s
  • Sorry I wasn't around to post what flutters felt like, I'm but so glad everyone else picked up my slack! Every description sounded perfect! It was a busy weekend for us and I couldn't be here very much.

My dumb symptom this week is on going SI joint pain. I know I need a massage, but timing is very difficult with DH and myself having very opposite schedules. :(
  • @SarahFoley725 +1 for the BH/cramps after peeing! It's so weird and annoying.  I only had it toward the very end of my first pregnancy, but it's been going on for a few weeks so far this time around.

Not this, but I get waves of nausea after peeing or poop.  Not fun.
