GTKY: I babysat a lot in my teen years so is that considered my first job? Boy, do I have some stories. I think working in a doctor's office when I was 17 was my first real job. When things were quiet they would send me to the back to shred old medical files. I would read files as I shredded. There were some real interesting things in those medical files, ha
@jaylii I'm out at client's today so i can't really spend time here but it's so quiet so i wanted to make sure and comment and say i'm thinking about all of Florida. This is going to be a huge deal.

My first job was nannying. When I was in high school I had 3 kids I watched after school. This included coordinating their schedules, picking them all up after school and daycare, getting them to rec activities and usually making dinner. I LOVED it! I actually shared the job with another friend so we each only worked a few days a week.

@MrsMiller8588 Sorry to hear about CD 1 and to hear about the weird cycle behavior. About Irma, yes, my parents are out thankfully. They are coincidentally on vacation out of Florida this week and will not be returning home this weekend as planned. My Dad is dying to get home to the house so I think they're going to try to head home as soon as it passes. @blackhottamales Thanks for the good thoughts. GTKY: What was your first job and what was your most memorable experience from it? My first job was a waitress at a cafe when I was 16, and it taught me that tips are lucrative, but also made me feel a lot of resentment about tipping, in general. I felt, and still feel, that any time someone gave me a tip it was because I was doing my job. Like, serving folks was my job, so duh, I'm going to do it. And then they get to decide if I get money for doing that. The cafe should have just paid me a reasonable wage instead, and they should've fired me if I didn't do a good job. Being a server is often a career for folks, and it should be treated as such with a livable, reasonable, predictable wage. It also made me really uncomfortable that I got larger tips if guys thought I was pretty or something. I only worked there for a few months because the restaurant went under, lol. I have not been a server since.
@Avrilmai oh no sick puppies are the worst! Especially when you are sick too... hopefully everyone starts feeling better and you get a nice relaxing weekend to recover!

GTKY: What was your first job and what was your most memorable experience from it? I worked at Starbucks as my first 'real' job... definitely have a lot of memories. Especially of getting yelled at by people.... people get cray about their coffee. I once made a white mocha for a lady, and she returned it and said it didn't taste right. So I made her a new one, but I saved the coffee to taste later myself (as I usually did), and then she returned the second one. So my supervisor came and tasted them both (and they tasted normal and fine), so my supervisor goes "she wants it sweeter, let's give it to her" and she pumped 10 pumps of the syrup into the cup. We gave the drink to the lady and she goes "that tastes better thank you." OMG, my supervisor went "hope she doesn't have any cavities." I will never forget that.
CS/Q: Not too much chartwise. But looks like my temps have started to stabilize.
GTKY: What was your first job and what was your most memorable experience from it?
I worked as an assistant for the local government treasury the summer before Senior year of HS. I can't say anything was particularly memorable, but I now work as an accountant....so there's that.
@canucklehead123 and @MrsMiller8588 Soooo sorry for CD1. That sucks big time. Hope you can relax this weekend and take your mind off it. @jaylii T&P with your family's home in southern Florida! @dukestar5 I just finished "Son of a Trickster" by Eden Robinson - I work with Indigenous families and youth and this book is about an Indigenous boy's journey with spirituality.... I found it really insightful. It is set in Northern BC, Canada. I also just finished Amy Schumer's book... pretty funny!
@dukestar5 I definitely ate my fair share of blizzards...and chicken fingers...and french fries...and occasionally sneaked some cookie dough. Glad to hear Big Little Lies was good. I planned to read it, but read Truly Madly Guilty first and didn't care for it, so I wasn't sure I'd like it. @ajsanders-2 So sorry for CD1. @MLS6212 That's quite a story about how you started smoking! You were quite determined to get breaks. Good job being tobacco free for 9 years! @quiltandknit YH sounds so sweet! So nice of him to treat you to flowers and chocolate after a rough day. I hope next week at work is better. Rest your wrist this weekend!
@MLS6212 In college I worked in a restaurant and the only breaks also seemed to be smoke breaks. I didn't smoke, but I used to go sit outside or sit in the managers office on occasion and if someone asked what I was doing I would just say "smoking".

@doxiemoxie212 I'm glad your hubby got to come home. Hope you are able to HIO tonight!
@canucklehead123 enjoy your wine! I'm right there with you!
Ladies with family in Florida @jaylii and @offtoneverland: hope everyone stays safe!
CD: 13
WAYDTGKU: PNV, CM, charting (but currently benched)
R/R: Rant: work sucks, pushed my wrist a little too hard and it hurts tonight. Rave: Husband is the best. He brought me home flowers and chocolate desserts after I told him my day sucked.
CS/Q: Nothing to stalk.
GTKY: What was your first job and what was your most memorable experience from it? I worked at Staples in high school as a cashier and stocking shelves. I enjoyed it--I still love office supplies! *nerd alert* I also cut my hand with a boxcutter (so so clumsy) and needed 6 stitches!
@ajsanders-2 So sorry for CD1.
@MLS6212 That's quite a story about how you started smoking! You were quite determined to get breaks.
@quiltandknit YH sounds so sweet! So nice of him to treat you to flowers and chocolate after a rough day. I hope next week at work is better. Rest your wrist this weekend!
