Why are the people of this site so against newbs? This is starting to feel like junior high all over again...

Just stick it out. If you prove you're a normal human being with at least 95% intelligence, you will do just fine. It's the others who don't make it so far.
Because much like girls in high schools, newbs get butt hurt over the stupidest things and then whine:
"WHY DON'T NO ONE LIKE ME?!!?!?"
Then, to compensate, they try too hard and everyone laughs at them.

Lots of people seem to have issues and maybe theres drama that I dont know about, but it can get pretty hostile. And I'm feeling catagorized just for being new.

I am relatively a newbie as well. But they don't hate me. Nor would I whine about it if they did. I lurked before I posted so I knew not to act like an idiot and to post with my big girl panties on.
If you stick around awhile, you will learn and come to love it.
I am feeling deja vu. This post occurs every so often and frankly, it drives me nuts.
If you just jump into conversations, are NORMAL and can laugh with the snark, there will be no issues. Calling everyone out and crying that your feelings are hurt will get you nowhere.
It's just like life. If you would join a group of friends, expect them to mold to fit YOU and then tell them all that you think they act stupid, would you be their favorite friend?
I think that's a well-hidden attempt at "barren and bitter".

I just stumbled over here as well from thenest. I was so excited to learn that there was a helpful forum for my specific needs now that I am no longer just a newlywed but an expecting mom. MY GOD! This is so harsh I just don't know if I can stay.

I lurked for 6ish months, created an account last December, got flamed for being stupid once, and I stuck around. I don't get why lurking and the requisite getting flamed just one time is so hard for people to understand.

I'm not being rude here, but there are boards that are a lot less snarky.
Each board has a personality. If you don't like this one you just have to find one that works best for what you expect out of The Bump.
This board is probably not going to change just because a few people say its frequent posters are mean and inconsiderate. We've been told it a million times. It is just the nature of the board. There is nothing wrong with that.
Just like there are people in real life with whom you won't click. Same works for the Internet.
