What are you looking forward to this week? DD's preschool starts tomorrow morning! Three mornings a week of freedom!!!
What are you dreading? Irma. So nervous it's going to affect us here in NC. I know it's a ways out and unlikely but it's making me anxious
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I've got so much planned for school times - work outs, laundry, errands, cleaning. Unpacking from the beach. Hoepfully I can get my nails done!
Random thoughts? Do you think princess Kate is secretly on the bump? I'd love to see her over on April 18 mom's like "ugh so frustrating to have HG again when you are supposed to attend state dinners and charity events... good thing my nanny can watch DS and DD!"
GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house? Our patio. We had it put in recently and it's a great place for DD to do play dough and chalk and for DH to grill and me to read and drink Rose. I'm gonna miss summer!
@lifesabeach85 really hoping Irma stays away!! If/when it hits though, I hope it doesn't affect you guys at least.
Also...Kate's expecting again?? I'm seriously so out of the loop for everything, hahaha.
Looking forward to basically all week. This is my vacation time, and though we're not going anywhere (other than being at my ILs this weekend and heading home tomorrow) it will be nice to relax. I'm hoping to sew some things because it's been so long since I have!! Aside from the dress I made for my BILs wedding...but I haven't made my DS anything in a while and I have new jegging material for him!!
Dreading: nothing that I can think of! Woo!
Goals/Accomplishments: sew, see my chiropractor for the first time in months
Random: I'll put this here I guess? Sorry I've been so inactive lately guys...life's been pretty busy! But, I'm hoping to get on more! We'll be starting TFAS in November, so I need some people who don't know me IRL to talk to!! Lol
GTKY: favorite spot in the house...I don't really have one? I guess this one chair by our front window, but I wouldn't say it's amazing by any means. I so wish I had a bay window like @glitzandglitter !! That would be awesome!!
@lifesabeach85 I hope Irma never shows up, but understand the fear, especially now. Houston was expected to get hit with a storm right after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and people were justifiably freaked given everything they'd just seen happen. There's no harm in picking up a few staples like bottled water, peanut butter, batteries and duct tape and topping off the gas tank over the next couple days -- it's overwhelmingly likely you won't need any of it, but it always makes me feel more prepared (and it may help you stay away from the grocery store a week from now when others start to get more nervous; it's like being in the library right before exam time in school - everyone feeds off everyone else's stress). Your random thought is amazing.
@glitzandglitter Ugh, sounds like you have way too much on the plate this week to deal with a stomach bug. FX!
@CecilB93 A vacation week with nothing to dread?! Awesome. Enjoy every minute.
What are you looking forward to this week? DH comes home from a hunting trip today and I'm so ready. I love alone time, but it was starting to be too much!
What are you dreading? We're back in the office today after a full 1.5 weeks off for Harvey. Everyone's going to be behind on things and - with the short week especially - it'll be a stressy place as folks try to get caught up.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I need to write a toast for my brother's rehearsal dinner weekend after next. Will try - so hard - not to procrastinate it any longer.
GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house? This is a weird answer, but the dining room. We have an older, fairly small home, and the dining room is designed to be the center of everything. I like to sit here with the computer or a book and be out of DH's way while he cooks/watches the game but still feel close to him. (It's also the room with all the booze. )
@lifesabeach85 FX no storm! I'm a bit nervous also, we're in the Northeast. The worst we'd probably get in my area is a power outage, but we're not even prepared for that. @emiliadkay I'm the same way when DH has plans. At first its nice to get time to myself to do whatever I want, but we're codependent and it gets old fast! Hopefully you're work stress isn't too bad! @glitzandglitter Good luck dodging the bug! Stomach stuff is the worst.
What are you looking forward to this week? Getting a Stitch Fix box on Saturday! Its like Christmas!!!
What are you dreading? Hmmmm, I don't think I have any dreads this week
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Paint my toe nails, stay on top of the cleaning
Random thoughts?
GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house? On my couch in my living room. I love sitting with DH and a blanket watching DD play with her toys. Its better than any TV!
@KFrob, how do you like Stitch Fix? I feel like I'll either love or hate everything I'm sent and either have a bad experience or just blow all my money In my mind there's no happy medium.
@CecilB93 I absolutely love it!! This will be my 4th box. Its like they know my style better than I know my style. So far I've loved everything they've sent and everything fits pretty close to perfect. I had a friend talk me into doing it after she raved about it. I have my price point set at "the cheaper the better" and its still pretty pricey but worth it. They give you a discount if you keep the whole box. I have my box frequency set up at quarterly and they let you pick the date so you can push it back to get a box whenever you want. This box is courtesy of gift cards I requested for my birthday back in July.
@lifesabeach85 OMG that porch sounds amazing! We're in the process of finishing ours too (its been 2 years in the works ugh) but because of where we live, we had to make it a 4 seasons porch. Its about a week out from being done and then onto furniture!
What are you looking forward to this week? I'm finally using the gift cards I received on my birthday (...in May..) and I ordered some new fall clothes! I love this waiting period when I can be optimistic about everything fitting me or not being complete trash before having to ultimately send 90% of my order back in the mail Also DH's parents are coming to visit this weekend and we'll get to do some fun fall activities. Excited for the activities, less excited for the passive aggressive comments from my MIL...I'll need some wine for extra patience
What are you dreading? Getting back into the swing of things at work. I have ZEROOOO motivation right now.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Trying to unpack/clean/organize my house from the chaotic summer of traveling we've had. Also reorganize all of LO's clothes and toys we don't use anymore.
Random thoughts? Good god how is it September already?!
GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house? I never use it, but we have this amazingly comfy soft white couch (now you see why we never use it) in our second living room thats parked in front of our fireplace and TV. Its the best place to relax with snow falling outside
@lifesabeach85 Enjoy your free mornings, I want to do this so bad but it doesn't financially make sense for us. Your random make me LOL
What are you looking forward to this week? Getting back into the swing of normal life LOL, whatever that really means. Otherwise nothing really happening this week.
What are you dreading? Nothing that I can think of.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Getting caught up on the housework that got put on the back burner the past couple weeks.
Random thoughts? My head is really full feeling today and DS has been sneezing and coughing all morning. Fall isn't even here yet this can't be happening already.
GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house? I don't know. I guess my bathtub. I don't have a nice bathroom or tub but it is still my place of solace and quiet at the end of almost every day.
@kindbytealikat Hope you aren't getting sick! School just started last week here and my coworkers with kids are already talking about the colds they are bringing home. Seems too early for that. @KFrob I loooove Stitch Fix! I just started it recently when my friend referred me. I've had 2 boxes so far and kept 2 things from each one. So far my only complaint is that sometimes the quality is not as good as I'd want for the price... like don't send me a $50 shirt that a skin-tone bra shows through plz. But most of the things they've sent have been spot on! @mrsmtothek I love that online shopping waiting period too lol. So exciting, so full of hope!!! @CecilB93 Yay vacation! Enjoy! @emiliadkay Hope your work week goes smoothly. Glad you were able to get out and about safely! @glitzandglitter Bay windows are awesome. @lifesabeach85 Enjoy your mornings of freedom!!
What are you looking forward to this week? Sort of a looking forward to/dreading combo here this week. DH's granddad passed away this weekend, so we'll be traveling sometime later this week (probably the weekend) for the funeral and to be with his family. So, obviously a sad week, and I have no doubt the funeral will be difficult, but I'm also looking forward to being with family. We are grateful because he was in his 90's and was in good spirits even when his health was declining, and he had family with him when he passed. Can't ask for much better than that.
What are you dreading? See above!
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Just to get everything organized for the trip this weekend - have to cancel some other plans, make sure the pets are taken care of, etc. Fortunately I was already able to get boarding for the dog.
Random thoughts? @lifesabeach85 I am also keeping an eye on Irma! Seems like every news report I hear it gets stronger. Where I live is usually a little far west for hurricanes to be a big problem, but it's not unheard of. We got plenty of rain and wind during Matthew, just not the crazy flooding.
GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house? This is a tough one. Probably on the couch, with a blanket and a book! Or when the weather is good, out on the back porch.
@lifesabeach85 Please please stay safe. I watched a video of this storm hitting Barbuda and this huge tree just got SHREDDED. If you haven't already, go do your prep shopping soon. I live in central Florida and the shelves here are bare already. Enjoy your freedom, though, when DD is in preschool!
@CecilB93 Enjoy your vacation time! I hope you have some fun! Please don't feel sorry for being inactive, I know I've had some periods of lurking and not posting lately.
@emiliadkay I hope the stress isn't too bad as you all get caught up at work! I love the way your house design sounds! My parents had a central dining room, and it's something I miss.
@KFrob What color are you thinking for your toes? Yay for the Stitch Fix!
@mrsmtothek Isn't it fun having to wait and see if things fit? Most stores only carry my size online, not in store, so that's pretty much my life. I hope the in-law visit is fun! Would you guys be able to get a cover for the couch so you can use it?
@kindbytealikat I'm still sorry that you're back here, but it's nice to see you! I hope you guys aren't sick and are just having allergies or something.
@diaphena My condolences for your DH's grandather! I hope the funeral isn't too hard on the two of you.
What are you looking forward to this week? There isn't much that I can think of, to be honest, aside from payday.
What are you dreading? Irma. I'm in central Florida, and pretty much every projection has it hitting us in some way, shape, or form. DH volunteered to be on the ride out crew at his work, so if it gets activated, he won't be home during the storm. My mom and uncle, who are down on the coast, are evacuating. It's really just a waiting game right now. We've got supplies and plastic sheeting for the windows. I'm just... trying not to let my brain run away with me. Shelves here are empty, tolls have been suspended, and evacuation orders have been issued for the southern part of the state and the keys. Our governor has also said that if anyone wants to evacuate, do so now. So we'll see how the rest of the week goes. We're hoping for the best, but have prepared for the worst.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I'm working on finishing up the laundry now, and I did the dishes last night. DH needs to take the trash out, since he'd promised me that he would. Beyond that, not much.
Random thoughts? I have friends in Puerto Rico who are going to be in the path of the storm. I really hope they'll be okay.
GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house? My bed. Our living room is really small. I miss my parents' house.
@dreamscapes_ I hope you stay safe and have some answers with the storm soon! It must be so stressful worrying about evacuation! As for my toes, in the summer I usually go with an obnoxiously bright pink color (I go sans polish on my hands and make up for it with the toes) but since it's feeling more fall-ish around here maybe a dark red
@KFrob You've inspired me to try an at-home pedicure this weekend!
@mrsmtothek (The anticipation of) new clothes in the mail is the. best. Hope they don't disappoint this time!
@kindbytealikat Ooo I remember baths. Are you the wine + book type, or do you have another routine?
@diaphena I'm so sorry for your loss, though it sounds like it came after a long, full and well-loved life. Glad your family can be together this weekend.
@dreamscapes_ Why is it that a childhood home is always *extra* comfortable? Echoing everyone else - BE SAFE. It sounds like you're fully prepared, and your H is a trooper for volunteering to ride things out at work. Please come check in here anytime you need a distraction -- it'll make us happy, too, to know you're doing ok. Your friends in Puerto Rico are in my thoughts.
@lalala2004 Your son's room sounds awesome. You must be one of those people who can actually execute on pinterest inspiration, and I am officially jealous.
@emiliadkay mostly consisted of buying things and hanging them on the wall haha. But my mom and I did repaint an old vanity and reupholster a bench, so I guess that was pretty Pinterest worthy. I didn't take a before picture, though, so that was a Pinterest fail.
@dreamscapes_ stay safe friend! Glad your family is getting away from the coast.
@lalala2004 my philosophy is if you did any part of it yourself, it's pinterest worthy. Haha
How is everyone today? It is dark and rainy here today and my usual cup of coffee is not cutting it. Fortunately work is slow so far (knock on wood) so.. Here I am bumping during the daytime for once!
@diaphena I was up until 3AM with a puking toddler, my house is freezing and I'm stuck on the couch with still sick(not puking) toddler watching bubble guppies. Why doesn't Dunkin or Caribou deliver
@diaphena Its dark and rainy here as well, and that makes for a complete lack of motivation! Luckily, I was just handed a pile of brainless work to do! I'm jonesing for the weekend big time.
@diaphenaand@KFrob rainy here too! DD had "gymnastics" this morning (aka a padded room and foam pit for toddlers to run around in), so that was fun. Not sure what to do after nap though...
@kindbytealikat oh no!!! stomach bug is the WORST!!! Hope someone brings you a coffee IV. Or wine.
@kindbytealikat oh noooo! Hope the kiddo is feeling a little better now and you can get some rest. Also whoever gets a coffee delivery service off the ground will be a millionaire in no time.
@KFrob I am also super ready for the weekend! Even with having Monday off...
Late to reply, but hey guys! To those in the path of Irma, or who are being hit with wildfires and flooding -- stay safe! I'm keeping all of you in my thoughts.
What are you looking forward to this week? The weekend! And informing our clinical instructor that the other group does clinicals 8 to 3, so there's zero need for us to be there 8 to 5. Let's be real.
What are you dreading? Paying my bills.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I activated my gym membership yesterday, and spent some time there. My legs hate me. Was active at my secondary job today. Looking forward to arm-day at the gym tomorrow. My nephew's bday party is at the gym (pool party) as well, so I'll use that as
Random thoughts? Nada
GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house? Bed! But aside from that, I love to stretch out on our couch with a good book.
@diaphena my condolences for your family. It's a horrible way to come together, but enjoy your time with family!
@dreamscapes_ be safe during Irma!! Glad your family evacuated, hoping for the best for your friends in Puerto Rico!
So we went to Silver Dollar City on Monday and my calves are crazy sore!! I haven't walked that much in a long time!! Then today DH and I dropped off DS at daycare so we could enjoy a day to ourselves and spent most of the day walking around Legends outlet and Nebraska Furniture Mart. I'm so out of shape guys
Bachelorette party on
Saturday! I’ve been planning it for my
almost-SIL. I think it should be
fun! We kept it pretty simple, so I’m
hoping it’ll be pretty stress-free. And
I haven’t done something like this in years!
What are you dreading?
Um… Not looking forward to
the day after the party. I don’t intend
to get totally smashed, but it’s been so long since I did anything like this, I’m
worried three drinks will make me sick the next day.
Have any goals/things you
want to get accomplished this week?
Just make it through my
class tomorrow and finish the last minute details for the party. Also do some frickin’ laundry.
Random thoughts?
I am currently watching
the episode of Friends where they all turn 30.
It’s making me feel really old.
GTKY: What is your favorite spot
in your house?
My bed, I think. I also like our little couch next to the big
window.
I just realized it’s
bedtime and I haven’t gotten a chance to comment on anyone yet! Just know I’m thinking of everyone out there near
all these horrible storms, and am glad everyone is okay so far!
I am currently watching
the episode of Friends where they all turn 30.
It’s making me feel really old.
This. Seriously. Binge watching Friends on Netflix atm and feeling old AF when you realize how accomplished most of them are before they're 30, let alone the fact that you used to think THEY were "old" when show first came out Still one of my favorites though!
@KFrob We're still waiting to hear what Disney is doing with the parks and cast. They wait until the last moment to decide, basically, but that's Disney. DH heard from his manager this morning that they're expecting to activate ride out sometime between now and Saturday. The dark red sounds nice! I don't normally paint my toes, but when I do, it's usually purple or blue, lol.
@emiliadkay My parents' house was an older brick house built in the early 1900s, and was the only house I lived in until I moved out. It was just weird that the last time I was in that house wasn't the last time I thought it was going to be. You know? We're still waiting for final word from work about the storm. My mom is on her way here with my uncle, which was a whole big ordeal yesterday. They'd found a hotel on the north side of Orlando, but got a call yesterday that the hotel was overbooked, so their reservation got canceled. So my mom called me four times while I was at work, panicking about finding somewhere to go. I managed to find her a room at one of the Disney resorts. So if DH goes for ride out and I can't go with him and work is closed, I'll be with my mom and uncle during the storm. My friend in PR was posting on Facebook a couple of times yesterday, so last I saw, she's okay!
@mrsmtothek I watch Friends as background noise and yeah, it's really really strange how much crap they get done by the time they're the age I am now. Things usually don't work out like that outside of TV, lol. It's also really dated, and I'm not a fan of the rampant homophobia, fat jokes, and "nice guy-ism" in regards to Ross. I never watched it when it was on the air in the 90s, so it's just... Yeah. Some times I like about the show, but some things, not so much.
The other thing that makes me eye roll at Friends, and Sex and the City, and many other TV shows set in NYC is the ridiculousness of their lifestyles. Even with the BS excuse that Monica was illegally subletting her grandmother's rent controlled apartment, a two bedroom enormous place in the Village would be waaaaaay outside the budget of a coffee shop waitress and a line cook at a 50s theme diner. Even Ross's job at NYU would not pay enough for his two bed place. As much as I often didn't like the show Girls it was a much more realistic portrayal of the shit show that is often your early to mid twenties.
@dreamscapes_ Ross is by far my LEAST favorite. Why he was ever appealing to Rachel I'll have no idea.
@lifesabeach85 I never saw Girls, but you're totally right. Talk about setting unrealistic expectations haha. I adored SATC but are you kidding me, how in the eff did Carrie afford ANYTHING lol.
On a lovely side note, I feel like I'm in middle school all over again because no less than seven pimples popped up overnight with NO warning. Really?!? I'm a hot mess. Guessing that AF won't be far behind now haha
@mrsmtothek@dreamscapes_@lifesabeach I totally agree with you guys. I've seen Friends a lot, but this time around I'm really noticing the homophobia and mean jokes. They're all supposed to be such good friends, but they're actually really mean to each other. And oh my god, Ross is obnoxious. And no one ever wears a bra and it's always cold.
@mrsmtothek Agh! I was irritated that I woke up with a single zit this morning. I think I'd just go back to bed and refuse to get back up
I'm glad you found a place for your family, @dreamscapes_. I hope you are all able to stay safe.
@mrsmtothek and @Secretstapler I woke up broken out too! And I'm no where near AF so IDK what's up. It might be time for me to wash the make-up brushes.
@mrsmtothek and @Secretstapler I woke up broken out too! And I'm no where near AF so IDK what's up. It might be time for me to wash the make-up brushes.
Oh god I can't even remember the last time I washed mine
I have completely put off getting my house in order for the in-laws visiting tomorrow...guess I should try to get some done tonight, ugh All motivation to do anything productive just goes out the window for me at 9 PM.
Not to much going on here this weekend. Farmers Market in the morning and college football in the afternoon. I need to get some laundry hung up but otherwise no plans really. Hopefully DS will be better and we can go see my parents at some point.
@mrsmtothek I feel like cleaning for company is something that just has to be done last minute. We're kidding ourselves with goals to handle it any other way. @kindbytealikat That sounds like a perfect Saturday!
We're headed to a "knife skills" class this morning and, other than that + beer + football, have no plans at all. Have a great weekend everyone, and if you're in the path of the storm please stay safe and know you're in all of our thoughts.

GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house? This is a tough one. Probably on the couch, with a blanket and a book! Or when the weather is good, out on the back porch.
@glitzandglitter FX you don't get sick!

What are you looking forward to this week?
That it's short.
What are you dreading?
Friday, assuming it will be a train wreck like the last two with the bizarre schedule my school has now...
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
Unpack.
Random thoughts?
Just kind of frustrated and tired right now about a lot of things. I need to do better at self care, probably. Maybe I'll take a bath tonight.
GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house?
My son's room. It's the one I put the most effort into. It has a superhero theme.

@lalala2004 Take care of yourself! It's so easy to put everyone else first and end up in a rut

Just wanted to let y'all know I'm taking a social media break. I hope to be back in about a month. Hope some of you have your BFPs by then!
What are you looking forward to this week?
Bachelorette party on Saturday! I’ve been planning it for my almost-SIL. I think it should be fun! We kept it pretty simple, so I’m hoping it’ll be pretty stress-free. And I haven’t done something like this in years!
What are you dreading?
Um… Not looking forward to the day after the party. I don’t intend to get totally smashed, but it’s been so long since I did anything like this, I’m worried three drinks will make me sick the next day.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
Just make it through my class tomorrow and finish the last minute details for the party. Also do some frickin’ laundry.
Random thoughts?
I am currently watching the episode of Friends where they all turn 30. It’s making me feel really old.
GTKY: What is your favorite spot in your house?
My bed, I think. I also like our little couch next to the big window.
I just realized it’s bedtime and I haven’t gotten a chance to comment on anyone yet! Just know I’m thinking of everyone out there near all these horrible storms, and am glad everyone is okay so far!
@diaphena We'll do our best!

@mrsmtothek Agh! I was irritated that I woke up with a single zit this morning. I think I'd just go back to bed and refuse to get back up
I have completely put off getting my house in order for the in-laws visiting tomorrow...guess I should try to get some done tonight, ugh All motivation to do anything productive just goes out the window for me at 9 PM.
Hope all of you ladies in FL are staying safe!!

We're headed to a "knife skills" class this morning and, other than that + beer + football, have no plans at all. Have a great weekend everyone, and if you're in the path of the storm please stay safe and know you're in all of our thoughts.
