Baby Girl Name Help!

Hi there!

I'm 33 weeks with girl #2 and we are stuck on names!  Our last name is somewhat common, so I'd love something a little unique, but our #1 choice is currently Zoe (#35 on the social security list in 2016-- my name, Lauren, was also #35 in 1981, so I know how common Zoe is even though I don't personally know any right now).  Any suggestions??  Big sister is Tatum Reese.  Other names we like are Juno, Leslie, Danica, Phoebe, Charlotte, Penelope, Jocelyn.  Thanks!
Edited to add: Any ideas aside from the names I mentioned?  I like them all, not sure I LOVE any particular one, so if you have an idea that's in a similar vein as those names, I welcome it!

Re: Baby Girl Name Help!

  • Love Danica and Penelope.
  • Loading the player...
  • I like Phoebe and Jocelyn
  • I like Danica best especially with Tatum. I just feel like between little girls and dogs Zoe is literally everywhere.

  • I like Zoe best, especially with Tatum. I also like Jocelyn and Danica. I don't care for Juno. I feel like Penelope is more common in my area than Zoe
  • Yes!  I know of two Zoes who are little girls, and prob at least three dogs named Zoe.

Any ideas aside from the names I mentioned?  I know Penelope is on the common side right now, and I'm not a huge fan of Penny, but I do like the name.  And not that I'd really do this, but Punky Brewster's real character's name is Penelope, so that's kinda fun.  ;)
    Does Phoebe Blair sound weird?

  • I like several of the names you are considering, but to me, Phoebe is the best choice from your list and think with sister Tatum it is the best "match" stylistically. Jocelyn also works well but isn't my favorite name. Penelope is a fav of mine but overwhelms Tatum to me. Danica is too fluffy compared to the more tailored Tatum. Have you considered:

    Gillian
    Drew
    Reese
    Barrett
    Paget
    Bronwyn

  • Thanks, cantrellja, I like some of your suggestions.  I love Reese but it's my daughter's middle name.  Drew is cool....  But I'm not sure if it's too much of a boy's name.  Though I love Drew Barrymore..  Hmm!  I actually like names that could go boy or girl, obvs.  :)
  • Of the names you mentioned, I like Danica best with Tatum.

    Other suggestions:
    Beatrix
    Rowena
    Persephone
    Maude

  • I have a Zoey and a Penelope.  While we have definitely come across little girls named Zoe at large kid events we haven't had any in DD's preschool or various kid classes yet.  My DS who is 6 hasn't either.  We have had several people tell us their dog's name is Zoe though.

For Penelope besides Penny we also use Nell and Nella and I've seen people use Poppy.  We've met one other Penelope at the library but that's it.  Also several people have told us their dog's name is Penny lol.

    Other suggestions:

    Maxine
    Celine
    Fiona
    Luna
    Nova
    Diana
    Shelby
    Shay

As a PS if you love Zoe don't worry about popularity.  There are so many more names nowadays that a name rank of 35 in the 80s is way different than 35 in 2017.  I loved Emma but didn't use it because of popularity concerns but neither of my kids have had any Emmas in their classes/activities.  There are a handful of Olivias and Sophias but not multiple kids per class (like Jessica A., Jessica E., Jessica S. when I grew up).
  • Thanks so much for your feedback, sunflower!!  That's actually really helpful.  :)
  • I know someone who named their daughter Juna instead of Juno and I like it a lot. I think that would go well with Tatum.
