@lainikins I created a registry on Amazon not knowing about the gift box! I'll have to look for where to get it. I also made a registry at Buy Buy Baby but did it online, not in person, so I didn't get that gift box either. I've got some free stuff to score!
@BrittaniLC You're a BTDT mom so it is possible to feel the baby move as early as 13 weeks. It's the "I'm 11 weeks pregnant with my first and totes felt the baby move!" people that get an eye roll.
On Saturday night I was leaving my friend's birthday dinner party and of course everyone was hammered except me. As I said goodbye to the birthday girl she put her hands on my stomach and started jiggling it! I literally started slapping her hands away but she didn't get the hint (thanks to being hammered) and it went on a good 6 seconds. I hope that's the worst belly rub I ever receive.

@SarahFoley725 - thinking of you and everyone affected. Sending prayers and thoughts! I saw the news this weekend, and was devastated to hear about the damage so far!
I definitely want to use Amazon, and a local store. I agree that while most people like to shop online, there are others that enjoy walking around the store to buy stuff. I am thinking either Babies 'R us or Buy Buy Baby.
@eggplantface I registered for Buy Buy Baby online, then went to the store later on and they gave me the gift bag. Also, worst belly rub ever!
I wish BBB was more conveniently located, though, so thinking of throwing a few things on Target because they're everywhere. I also have Amazon, since I have a number of people coming from out of town. Is it too much to have 3, though? First kid though, so we're starting from scratch.
@jenniferjoy28 NO! Ugh I hate that, just cuz it's okay for someone else doesn't mean you have to oblige. Obviously being more polite about it like stepping back and saying no thanks versus saying "F off" will probably make it easier, lol, but you only do what you're comfy with! Whatever you allow, you're basically teaching them it's okay.
Thinking of you @SarahFoley725 we're in south Texas too but further north, so we've just got crazy rain and wind. These rivers are making me nervous though.
@SarahFoley725 how'd you guys do overnight? My cousin in Houston PD and his truck is under water in downtown Houston.
Ugh im sorry. We seem to be in a really good spot but I got very little sleep last night. We lost power for a bit early into the morning but it's back now. I just want it to stop. Our neighbors said we had water up to our garage last night, but we don't know if any of it got in. Harvey is making its way back to the gulf and will hit us again at some point.
Thank you ladies so much for the continued T&P it means a lot. Sorry to be the Debby downer of the group. @BrittaniLC can confirm I'm usually way more fun

Yes!!! @SarahFoley725 is awesome! Just going through and extremely rough time right now and I think we all understand on some level.
I went to a dinner party last night with a bunch of friends who are parents. I heard nothing but horror stories about how awful their kids are. Nice conversations to have with a soon-to-be FTM. Good food though!
I had similar experience with my first and yes there are trying times as parents and you definitely need to make time for yourself and friends to find balance. But ultimately I had to make new friends who didnt complain so much about being parents. It just wasnt my style and couldnt stand the negativity. Just like I cant stand it when women sit around and complain about their husbands.
My daughter went camping with her girl scout troop this weekend. When I picked her up the troop leader pulled me aside to let me know one girl had singled out my daughter and was being mean to her and my daughter had been crying. My daughter is pretty awkward but very nice. Held it together but I wanted to cry myself. Aaaah parenting!
Im so sorry! Thats just awful, and such un- girl scout like behavior. Im glad they told you about it and I hope they did something about it as well.
Ok maybe I'm cranky but reading the trimester boards and the number of people naming off what sound like serious symptoms and saying "what should I do? Is something wrong?" I really wanted to start posting "I'm not sure. What did you Facebook friends say?"

@noodles15 I'm so sorry about your daughter, I would have a hard time holding it together. I just read an article on how parents are socially constructing their kids lives based on who their parents are and how "in" the kids are. Made me so angry. And a little scared of my daughters school age years.

@rainafire77 I've been craving soup dumplings, buns, and ramen for the last month. It's ridiculous. I walked the length of my city for soup dumplings last week and I'm ready to do it again!!
I loved This Is Us. Especially because I'm their age! I started watching the pilot and they were all having this mid-30s crisis about turning 36 and I was like "Wait, was I supposed to have a melt down over that?" And of course I got sucked in by the pilot. I hope we get some answers on Jack's death this season. If only because Kate is so traumatized by it, it clearly is affecting her life and relationships.
Today I was trying to book a hotel room and train ticket to visit my best friend in NYC who just had a baby. But I can't find a decent hotel near her apartment for less than $300! And the train ticket is $275 round trip! I'm not spending that much money on one night so I'm taking the train up and back in the same day, for $175 total. Normally I'd take the bus but I'm wary of that while pregnant; I want to be able to get up and move around. Any suggestions on what a new mom might want/need from a visit? Laundry? Errands done? Just a sympathetic ear or extra hand to carry something?

@eggplantface If she's comfortable letting you sit with the baby for a bit, give her time for a shower or nap! That was always the most welcome thing for me when someone I was close to came to visit. But otherwise just bring some food or a coffee and be willing to help if she needs it or just chat if she doesn't want the help.

My sister is stuck on a cruise ship in the gulf unable to port because of Harvey. Just got a text that they will be trying to go to NOLA to get off and then fly back to Texas. She starts classes Wednesday and is really wanting to be there for the first day of classes.
@BrittaniLC Gah, I didn't even think of Air BnB! I've never used it before. I bought my train tickets so it's too late now, but I'll keep that in mind for the christening (I'm godmother!).

I have some friends who are stuck on their honeymoon bc they can't fly into Houston. Sounds great, except the resort is charging them $500 a day to stay and they are missing work. I think being stuck on a cruise ship would be scary, though!

They're being charged $3/drink for nonalcoholic beverages. Their port date keeps getting pushed back so who knows how much it's going to end up costing them.
so there's a post in the firt tri board by a lady who said her pregnancy was unplanned/unwanted and she was most likely terminating but now seemed to possibly be miscarrying and she's super sad. I don't really care about anyone's viewpoint on abortion, but is it just me or does this totally NOT seem like the site for a post like that. My heart breaks for any TTCers who read it.
@SarahFoley725 Why would someone post that? If I was in the position of considering termination I would not be on a pregnancy website talking about it. It almost sounds like it's another troll account designed to hurt people.
