@ShawnnaO Yes, first baby, as probably made too apparent by my weight consciousness. I'm taking your comment to heart- I know it will be fine, and I think worrying about weight is probably the least stressful thing to focus on when having a baby. I'll just keep deserving my fried potato products. (;
I am back to feeling like crap and have no motivation for life. School starts next week and my oldest is the busiest person on the planet, which means I am too since I am his chauffeur.
In other news, I think I might have weaned my one year old. Even though I am done with nursing physically, it's always a little sad bc once again I didn't realize it was going to happen so fast.
@gh515 if it helps at all, your body does amazing things post baby and you will more than likely lose the weight quickly with little to no effort. Especially if you breastfeed (but no pressure on that - fed is best)
@DDRRT1982 I like the "survivor mode" mentality- I think it's a good coping mechanism!! And has generally been my approach on the large increase of calories and sleep dedication. (;
@DDRRT1982 I'm going to be weaning my daughter soon. She turns one next month! I'm sad about it, but I've already been increasing the length in between feedings and she seems to be taking to it well. They grow up too fast!
Just FYI, not everyone loses weight while breastfeeding. I gained. And if I tried to cut back on calories because I was gaining, my supply dropped. Not trying to cause an argument, just sharing because everyone told me that before I had DS and I was so upset to be putting on more weight when I thought I should be losing it. My doctor had to assure me that it was perfectly normal and that like 40% of people don't actually lose weight when they BF.
@kalawa, with my first pregnancy I felt flutters around 16 weeks and distinct kicks at 19 weeks. Although I ignored the 16 week flutters as everyone said it was early. With my third pregnancy I swear I felt flutters around 14 weeks. And quite frankly I don't care if anyone says I didn't. *TW* I lost that pregnancy at 15 weeks and I still get emotional thinking about the fact that I felt my baby before I lost him. So even if people will argue with me that it was just gas, to me it was him and I really don't care. *End TW*
I definitely think anything before 13 weeks is gas. But after that I think it's possible.
@mdfarmchick that totally makes sense. Breastfeeding increases your appetite and you have to feed yourself in order to feed baby. I think bottom line it's just really important to be forgiving to ourselves and our bodies.
@justkeeptrying in a third pregnancy it's very likely that was baby flutters. Screw anyone who tries to take that away from you. Even google says STM+ can feel as early as 13 weeks.
@kalawa I felt my second around 13 weeks (flutters), and I'm hopeful to feel this one early, too!
@mdfarmchick my body does something similar, too. I hold onto the last 10-12 pounds until I wean. I couldn't cut calories at all (at. all.) otherwise my supply dropped significantly. It was the most frustrating part of it, but thankfully it was short lived! I have friends who shed weight like crazy while BFing and I was so jealous I just remind myself that it can't last forever, right? I'm glad you mentioned that it doesn't happen for everyone!
Add me to another that holds onto 10lbs while nursing. My supply is more sensitive to calories than water. I had to balance delicately my intake so that I could keep up my supply.
I am excited for my kids to go back to school so I can throw bunches of stuff away from their rooms without them having fits. I am also excited because my 23 year old sister signed a lease on an apartment yesterday- she has been living with us for a year and a half while finishing school and is like living with a tornado. She's in our 4th bedroom which we will need back along with our sanity.
Catching up because its super slow at work. I really really freaking need a bundt cake from NBC now. We have them in CA too! I'm also googling things to entertain a 3 year old on a 5 hour plane ride. Any tried and true tips? I'm hoping she'll just watch Moana a couple times and knock out.
@emineminem I took my at-the-time 8 months old on a two hour plane ride and just kept giving her snacks. Snacks on snacks on snacks. But I have no experience with toddlers! Maybe buy a new toy right before your trip that she'll get on the plane?
@shawnnaO definitely planning to grab a bunch of crap from dollar tree and introduce a new little thing every time she gets awful. She's in full threenager mode so I'm scurred. We did a similar flight with her at 1.5 and she was an angel - not counting on that this time lol.
Mobile bumping but I want to tag so many ladies!! Thank you for the support regarding intuition. You ladies captured exactly what I was feeling and was down about. Thank you!! And sorry I havent responded sooner.
Also, yes...I ached and cried over how much weight I gained nursing. EVERYONE says you'll lose the weight nursing and I tormented myself over this. I wish I never heard that but it makes me now question all of the "everyone says" things.
I have to brag that I got back to being a "skinny bitch" because I freaking worked my tail off to nurse, keep up my supply, find an exercise that worked for me (tried a lot and most didn't work so I cried and felt like a failure) and find a diet plan that was suitable. It took me almost 18 months and it was near impossible.
I echo the comments on lack of weight loss while nursing. During my first pregnancy I read stories about women who lost 30 pounds within a couple of weeks of giving birth due to nursing, so I was so frustrated when my weight didn't really do anything. It's all good and isn't a big deal in the end, but I would've felt better about myself if I'd heard more stories about women who didn't shed tons of weight immediately postpartum.
I'm actually weaning my 18 month old right now, and I think we're completely done. Anyone have experience with what to expect weight-wise when weaning during pregnancy? I'm not expecting an impact since my supply's been really low for months but I'm curious to hear if there were changes for anyone else.
So, I have been trying to limit carbs as much as I can and tried Banza spagetti and it is actually really good. It's made from chickpeas. My kids and husband didn't even notice.

I usually SLOWLY lose weight while breastfeeding (like 9 months or more), but gain back 5-7 lbs after I stop. I think that in that long with pregnancy and BFing, I forget how much I can really eat without gaining
@DDRRT1982 I will have to try the Banza. I try to avoid gluten due to inflammation issues but it's been hard during these first few months of pregnancy since bread and crackers are so soothing to my stomach. Tasty gluten free pasta is hard to come by but it's encouraging to hear your DH kids couldn't tell.

Another good option is black bean pasta. I can't remember the brand I like but it's really good. I use it to make an enchilada mac (black bean pasta, ground beef, cheese and enchilada sauce) and it's super good. Absorbs favors really well.
Edited: the brand I like is POW! Pasta. They make red lentil and green lentil pasta in addition to the black bean.

@skppks I didn't say anything to them and they just ate it like it is normal pasta. We don't eat a lot of pasta, but spagetti is an easy staple and something they normally would notice a change.
@ashleyf911 I saw that at WF and was intrigued, but am not sure I could pass it off in our normal spaghetti. However, if I disguised it in a different recipe I might be able to get away with it. Do you mind sharing the recipe for enchilada Mac?

Sure! It's stupid easy, lol. 1 box of black bean pasta 1 big can of enchilada sauce (I think it's around 16 oz?) 1 lb ground beef 2 cups shredded cheddar
Brown up the ground beef and set it aside. Pour enchilada sauce and uncooked pasta in a big pot and bring to a slow boil to cook the pasta in the ench. sauce, stir every couple minutes. Once pasta is soft, toss in the beef and cheese and mix together. Voila. My 2 year old thinks it's the greatest thing ever, lol.
I found it on Pinterest with regular noodles and just subbed the black bean noodles. You can add an extra smaller can of enchilada sauce or some beef broth if you want it saucier.
On the gaining weight while breastfeeding note, I gained 40 lbs with my pregnancy, lost the first 25 within the first 6 months or so, was breastfeeding, but had those last 15 lbs stick around forever...it was discouraging, but what actually really helped was buying clothes that fit. I kept trying on my old clothes and getting so upset when they didn't fit right, and I would be so uncomfortable and feel so gross all day...when I finally bought bigger jeans and a few looser tops, I felt 'pretty' again and felt better because my clothes actually fit! I never did lose the last 10 lbs so am going into this pregnancy not at my ideal weight, but I'm definitely feeling better about it the second time around I know that if it's a priority for me to lose the weight after this one, I'll work hard at it...or I may say f that, and just be a little softer!
I don't know if this is a random, a bitch, or an unpopular opinion.
I'm saddened and confused by people who come on here to stir up drama. Isn't there enough drama in life without creating more here, especially when there isn't really a reason for it?
There are many people here who seem cool. I want to get to know them, but then there are certain names that make me steer clear of those threads when I see the name pop up.

I really need to stop posting such long posts...

I just don't get it.
@mountain_girl YES YES YES to wearing clothes that fit. Yes. It helps with confidence so much.
