Re: IF Testing and Treatment - Week of August 21

  • @olliegolly if you live/work up near Albany and are willing to travel down to NYC also check out Yale University Medical Center. They have a huge fertility center and are just as close to Albany as NYC and may be doing studies. Just FYI

  • @JuneRoseRuby. Squee!!!!  So exciting!!  You got this! ;)  I just finished up Night 2, as well!

@safire3 That's cool you're doing the lupron - I'm doing low-dose HCG, and Follistim.  Then add Ganirelix and either 10,000 HCG or Lupron or a dual trigger.  (There was no video for loe-dose hug, so I had to show DH the one for low-dose lupron, since its the same little insulin syringes and procedure... and of course that confused the heck out of it all - between that and the two trigger meds!!!  Lol. I had to just tell him it's okay, I've fot it under control and I won't get them mixed up. ;) )

Are either of you attempting fresh transfer?  Isn't doxy an abx?  Does anyone know the rationale for that one?  I have seen others take it too, but if it's not on my own protocol then I have no idea. Lol
  • KariAnn323 I'm taking HCTZ (hydrochlorothyazoid or something like that). It was prescribed by my regular doctor. I drink a ton of water, but seem to be having water retention issues as well. This makes losing the weight the RE is making me lose exceptionally hard. So trying out the diuretic. *TW* My body seems even more f-ed up since my last MC. I really think I need to take some Miralax or something as well, since I've been having constipation like crazy near O and AF. Ugh!

@BusinessWife the doxy is an antibiotic and is to decrease the risk of bacterial infection (either vaginal or cervical) from the egg collection +/- embryo transfer. My clinic has the guy take it 5 days prior to egg collection to minimize bacteria in his semen and has the woman start it the night before collection until the transfer (assuming fresh). My clinic also has us do prednisone (steroid) to decrease inflammation, and I don't know how I feel about that.
  • @safire3 @JuneRoseRuby did you guys start stimming on CD2??

That makes sense with the doxy @kiwi2628 and @safire3 I guess for us with frozen sperm, that part's less of an issue?

@BusinessWife I don't think it has to do with frozen sperm, it probably mostly has to do with your clinic and what their practice is. There is a lot in medicine that isn't right, or wrong, its just a preference and what you are used to- I deal with this ALL the time. For example, for an eye ulcer, I use ciprofloxacin. I think its the best, ophthalmologists love it and use it, but my co-worker uses NeoPolyBac. Neither are right or wrong, its just a preference. I think to use or not to use an antibiotic probably falls in that category. Some doctors use it because it does decrease bacteria/WBCs, other doctors don't because for the vast majority of people its unnecessary (and who doesn't like to minimize antibiotic use!), so they choose not to. *All of this is just a guess on reasoning based on reading protocols from many different practices and the theory of medicine, I will be asking my Dr when I have my IVF consult
  • @JuneRoseRuby I started the night of CD3, so I think I'm only one day head of you now! Lol
  • BusinessWife YAY for the first monitoring scan!  I hope everything goes great!

  • @JuneRoseRuby I'm sorry you're having trouble :/ I have been doing my pushes suuuuuper slow. And actually since its 300 Follistim, I did kinda half and half. (I know you're not supposed to re-use the needles, but I just did one jab with about half, and then a quick second jab to finished the dose. Not sure if that helps!!! ❤❤❤
  • @BusinessWife Thanks! Yeah I had been mixing the menopur with the follistim like they showed me, but I think I am going to do it in two shots tonight.  Tomorrow I add in the ganirelix too, so three shots it is! I might break up my follistim too. Thanks for the suggestion!
