This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say, and treat this like an ongoing conversation.

How are things going?

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Just HIO on our own. My goal is every 36 hours starting tomorrow morning through next Monday. Wish me (and DH!) luck
How are things going? Ask me again in a couple days lol
Any questions? Nope!
GTKY: If you have a million dollars, what would you do? Pay off our mortgage, new kitchen, new bathrooms, new floor in the downstairs, buy two new vehicles, take a trip somewhere fun, buy a boat and TWTW put some aside for college TWTW
@RVAmom315 damn girl, that is some goal! Good luck!!
Diagnosis (If you've been): unexplained secondary IF
Cycle/CD: 21/10
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) on our own this cycle, seeing the RE for a consult today to talk about what happens next
How are things going? After the whole episode with my friend last week I've decided to stop letting other people's lives affect me and to stop putting my own life on hold. You guys, I am applying to school today and am starting pre-nursing classes this semester!!!!!! I am so excited (I'm one of those nerds that loves school) and I found out that I can do most of my prerequisites online and will hopefully be able to start nursing school in the spring of 2019. Take that, infertility!!
Any questions? Nope
GTKY: I'm sure this has already been asked but, if you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Pay off my house, buy a new car, start traveling more, open up my own bookstore.

@RVAmom315 Good luck with HIO every 36 hours! Does it feel strange to be trying on your own. We are there too, and I keep feeling like I'm missing something or need to be at the RE's.
Diagnosis: High AMH, PCOM, High Prolactin, Fragile X carrier.. it gets me every time that I have to type that out
Cycle/CD: Month 21/CD2
Status: WTO
What are you doing this cycle? This is the start of the second of three cycles of trying on our own.
How are things going? Meh. It's CD2, so it's pretty obvious. With a diagnosis of PCOAnything, my RE is just concerned about actually ovulating. He has given me "signs" that point to for sure ovulation.. one of them being PMS. But I am having hard time telling the difference between regular PMS emotions and the emotions that come along with the temp drop and BFNs each cycle.
Any questions? Not right now
GTKY: I would invest it all and not touch it until retirement. I'm so boring.
@RVAmom315 Good luck!! I hope this works for you!!
@shortstack930 Good luck at your appt! And I am so excited for you!! Good for you!!! You'll kick ass, for sure
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI - low count

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) IUI Round 2. We found out on Friday that round 1 didn't work.
How are things going? Shitty. I just had a fuck it all attitude this weekend. Drank wine, smoked some cigarettes, just ate unhealthy. And now I'm reminded why I don't do any of that lol. I feel like garbage today but it's out of my system and I'm back and ready for round 2. Just really hoping it works. Financially I don't think we can swing another IUI after this. We have money saved...a good amount but our house is up for sale and if it ever sells, we will most likely take a bit of a hit we will need that money for and we'll need the rest for a down payment on a new house. So we really can't dip into our savings. So it pisses me off that you have to choose between emptying your bank account or racking up a credit card or having a child. Just added stress to this already stressful process.
Any questions?
GTKY: I'm sure this has already been asked but, if you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Quit my job. Hands down...get the F out of here! Buy a house closer to family My husband would still work - he's said it before because he loves what he does. But I'd make a fucking killer SAHM (he even says it every time I take a few days off) so I'd totally go that route.
@Redpuma119 I agree that trying on your own feels weird after so many months of treatment! @50Wife I'm so sorry the IUI didn't work but fx for this month! It sucks that we have to choose between finances and having a child.

shortstack930 YAY YAY YAY!
Glad you’re putting yourself first! That is one of the main things this

50Wife Ugh. Sorry. That is shitty. I hate the financial
stress we have to face to try to have a live child. It sucks so bad.
Diagnosis

Hoping to get some better sleep, and already rallying.

@50Wife I was really saddened to hear your first IUI didn't work. Glad you did a "I don't give a fuck" weekend. Sometimes you need to let loose (and face the consequences ). I hope this IUI works and you don't have to stress about finances. As if IF isn't bad enough, soooooo many couples have to juggle finances or forego treatment all together.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) just the old P in V this cycle. DH is also taking fertileaid.
How are things going? Fine I guess. If this cycle doesn't work, at least I can drink my feelings at a wedding in a few weeks.
Any questions?
GTKY: I'm sure this has already been asked but, if you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Pay off student loans because apparently congress is never going to do anything about decreasing interest rates, pay off mortgage, buy a second home, get an Audi SUV!

@shortstack930 Great to hear! I'm so glad you are taking back control. Fyi -- depending on where you are, high demand health programs like nursing may have long waiting lists after you complete your gen ed credits. This is especially true at 2year colleges and state 4year colleges in some regions. So as you start your classes, check in with an advisor on campus to see if there is a list and if you need to do anything now to get on it (for instance some community colleges will let you go on the list before you complete all requirements as long as you've gotten a good grade on the HESI -- it really varies). Anyway just wanted to share so that you don't get to 2019 and have to wait more!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Consult with new doc today. Probably IUI next month
How are things going? I've been a bad bumper. Horrendous. Sorry. So much has been going on. SO MUCH. Dad just got diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, so that's been insane, and I had wisdom teeth removed and got dry socket. Ugh.
Any questions? Nah.
GTKY: I'm sure this has already been asked but, if you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Probably just buy a house and completely renovate it. Pay off my school loans, and then put it into savings.

How are things going? We are waiting for our donor to send in her questionnaire to our clinic and then set up her medical screening early next month. It's only been a week but I'm getting anxious for movement.
Any questions?
GTKY: I'm sure this has already been asked but, if you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? It would cost more than a million but I would buy a house on Nantucket with enough room for friends to come visit all the time.

@adirat thanks! Fortunately the school I'm looking at doesn't have wait lists, it's just highly competitive each semester (only 50 students accepted) and it's based on a point system so the more things you have done before you apply, the better your application looks. I'm hoping since I already have a bachelors and work in the medical field already that it will bump my application up. If not, the hospital system that I work for has their own nursing program, it's just a little bit more expensive but I would probably get in easier since I work for them. So hopefully it'll work out!
Had my RE appointment this afternoon and it looks like I'll be getting surgery mid-September! She said we could either do the surgery to check for endometriosis or go straight to IVF. She even offered to switch me to Femara for another cycle or two but she thought it would be a waste. She basically said that based on how well I responded to the meds I should be pregnant now and the fact that I'm not indicates that something is wrong that we can't see. So hopefully they'll find something on the surgery but if they don't then the cycle after we will start IVF! I'll get a call tomorrow to schedule the exact surgery date

@shortstack930 I'm with you. Love school. I just had my monthly 4 day long weekend class. I'll graduate in March 2018. In class today, they mentioned a certification course to be specialized in a specific testing protocol to diagnose Cerebral Palsy, so now I need to research that course and look into it for when I finish up my NDT certification! It's the best. Glad you have a plan now!
@KristoKekerooni OMG. Girl. Life is too much sometimes. I am so so sorry about dad. That must be so hard on you and your family. I hope your consult went well
@purplg8r Sorry about the carrier testing. At least its not buku bucks, I think it's around $300? better than the thousands we spend on all the other treatments amirite?
@50Wife I've definitely had those fuck it weekends and did all the wrong things. Forgive yourself and keep on moving forward. I think it helps us to put shit in the past and get game faces ready for what's next.

H had his consult. Right now surgery for him is a no. We'll reassess when we figure out which of us will carry insurance going forward now that he's started his new job. There was just too much maybe/possibly/potentially up to 15% for it to seem worthwhile unless insurance would cover a huge chunk of it.

@RVAmom315 That's a great plan, from what I've read it's in line with "ideal" Good luck!!!!- I know my husband would spreadsheet it, and sync it to our phones or something ridiculous. Hazards of being married to an engineer.
@shortstack930 Way to go! I bet that feels super empowering!
@Redpuma119 Hang in there! I'm sorry you don't have more clarity, that's tough.
@50Wife Good luck this time! The financial side of things is one of the reasons the IF diagnosis is so crushing... I don't know why it isn't treated like any other health condition. If viagra can be federally funded, IVF should be. #soapbox
@dpjennifer how awful! I'm sorry you went through that, even if it was "just" a dream
@BertieMeetsGertie Good luck!!!! (and always good to have a back up plan re the wedding to look forward to!)
@KristoKekerooni Sending creepy internet stranger support your way, that sounds tough. We have been dealing with my FIL having a pretty serious bladder cancer for the past few years, and it's a roller coaster. I had a dry socket too, and it's horrible.
@laurad75 A friend of mine who I am not really in contact with was a donor, but she went through the process three times while we were pretty close. It's emotional for them too when they take it seriously and are good egg homes. Hopefully the fact she hasn't sent it back yet is because she is like my friend and really puts effort into it!
@BusinessWife I am pulling SO hard for you. As much as I like you, I want to see you gone! Strange dynamic here.
purplg8r sorry about the additional cost. It's just... painful to shell it out. I don't know if you feel this way, or if this is my hang up because of the diagnosis, but I completely resent it. Like - This money should be going to something much more fun than a damn test to figure this out...
@JuneRoseRuby OMG! Sending so many good wishes your way. All the goo@KristoKekerooni
Diagnosis (If you've been): *TW*Secondary IF due to scarring
Cycle/CD: On placebo skipping BC because the scarring is too bad to have a period
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Benched
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Continuing testing. I came off of two of the medications that are incompatible with pregnancy this past week, and it looks like one I will need to go back on or find another solution for. The other it looks like I am good without it! So a small victory. One step forward, two steps back it feels like some days, but I think this was more like a diagonal shuffle.
How are things going? Really frustrated. The pain from the scarring has been brutal the last couple of days - to the point I can't even walk. In a way that is good, because if we are looking at a second surgery to release the scar tissue, my insurance may cover it if it is a medical issue (pain, mobility etc) compared to solely an IF issue but - it sucks. Tomorrow I am setting myself a goal of tracking down an OBGYN who has some experience and knowledge of this scarring adhesion issue.
Any questions? I looked into the infertility center in Albany, but it seemed like the only service they advertised was IVF & IUI. Is that pretty standard? If so, does anyone know where someone with an issue that didn't require that would go for fertility issues? The problem with the scarring would not be resolved by that service - From what I can tell the issue would be with implantation, or with carrying, which is beyond the scope of both a regular OBGYN and a clinic that does IUI and IVF... It's even beyond a MFM... I'm so confused, I don't even know where to start. It'd probably be better if I had an OBGYN I trusted, but the doctor I was seeing is the one who broke me...
GTKY: I'm sure this has already been asked but, if you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Pay off the house, my credit cards, my student loans, invest half of what was left for retirement, then have the rest as a cushion in our bank account. So I never EVER had to check if there was enough money for those leggings again.
@olliegolly Haha I wish DH would do that! It had been like pulling teeth with him, although this cycle he's been very accommodating I am so sorry that you are in so much pain. I hope you can get some relief as soon as possible!
KristoKekerooni
Ugh. Sorry for all the troubles! My DH just had his wisdom teeth out a few
weeks ago and he got a dry socket as well! Hope yours heals soon.
shortstack930 Yay
for moving forward with RE. Hopefully the surgery goes well and they’ll find
something.
olliegolly Good
Luck finding a place that will do what you need. The RE’s I went to also did
the RPL/IF tests, and would fix issues they found. So maybe a regular RE would
help you as well? But when my tests all
were clear, the first RE told me all he could do was IVF. The second told me I
was fat. So…. I haven’t had good luck with that.

@purplg8r I would wait to freak out about what you are a
carrier for until you have more information.I know that I had HUGE amounts of support when I posted what I was a
carrier for and other women here could offer some advice.I was a carrier for two things, and when I
had my genetic call, one was a recessive gene.It was something that is treatable and tested for at birth AND even if
my husband was a full blown carrier, there was something like a 1 in 500 chance
that our child would be a carrier, but only for the recessive gene.It is there job to educate us, but sometimes
the outcome can be a lot less detrimental than we prepare for. I’m not sure
what you are a carrier for, but feel free to PM me.
@juneroseruby That feeling of moving forward and looking for
answers is the best!Fingers crossed for
you!
@olliegolly It sounds like insurance should definitely cover
the cost of another surgery! I do think that an RE would be the person to see
for the scarring.Correct me if I’m
wrong, but it sounds like Asherman’s?We
have another lady on this board with asherman’s, I’m assuming you could reach
out to her?
@businesswife I called CNY (I think you were the one who suggested it) despite the fact they weren't a good fit for my condition, and they *did* have a suggestion for an obgyn. I called and they seem super nice, and knowledgable, and they have great reviews online. When I called to make the appointment I gave them the gist of the issue, and they pulled the doctor right on to figure out which of the two practitioners was a better fit, what I was trying to achieve and how we can get my insurance to cover it.
@purplg8r I completely agree with @redpuma119. Some things are bad but some things are nothing. Definitely shoot me a PM if you want to talk offline -- I went through the same thing, and one thing turned out to be nothing but one was a problem. Sending you big hugs as you navigate this.
@olliegolly Sorry for what you are dealing with and the lack of docs to help. That sounds so frustrating. So, I have a sort of strange suggestion. I had a really complicated recovery from d&e and my RE mentioned the potential for scar tissue. He said that with minor cases it's easily treatable with surgery but for more severe cases, there are currently a few clinical trials to figure out combinations of hormonal treatments and surgery that resolve the problem. It's my understanding that Asherman's is a relatively new diagnosis (not like last year, but compared to things we've known about for 100 years) and people are looking into it. So if you can't find a doctor near you, is there a medical school you could contact to see if there are nearby clinical trials or newer treatments? (If you're comfortable with that)
@shortstack930 you go girl, that is awesome! Glad you got a clear plan from the RE too and can start moving ahead.
@50Wife sorry the IUi didn't work but FX for you this cycle. DH is always joking that this kid better be a Nobel prize winner or something for all the money we are spending to bring him/ her into the world.
@dpjennifer sorry about the nightmare. That really sucks.
Yayy to stimming @BusinessWife and @JuneRoseRuby!! I should join you guys tomorrow hopefully. What are you on? I was switched to microdose lupron protocol due to low AMH so I should be on lupron, menopur and gonalF until trigger.
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI, low AMH
Cycle/CD: ?/ CD 1
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?). Was on bcp up to Saturday. Looks like I am starting AF today which means I should be starting stims tomorrow if u/s and bw are ok. Will have to got the REs office first thing tomorrow
How are things going? Happy to be doing something but stressed. Told my boss what we are doing but that I hope to miss only one day for retrieval which will be on short notice. Now I realize that is the best case scenario and I may be missing more days or getting to work late after early morning monitoring. There is not much flexibility with my job or hours. I know I should try not to stress about every little thing but it's hard.
Any questions?
GTKY: I'm sure this has already been asked but, if you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Well I wouldn't be stressing so much about this cycle not working because I could afford as many as I need lol. Also take a long vacation and renovate our house. Then invest and save the rest.
@olliegolly If you are talking about CNY fertility they are awesome about answering questions and even more amazing through their patient portal. You can create an account at any point but I'd honestly just call. I'm not sure if their services extend to everything that can be preventing you from getting pregnant or if they would refer you out but it's worth the question!!! They are awesome! Message me if you have questions.
@adirat I was good until yesterday. I really want to test but I'm telling myself no. At the appointment yesterday they made future appointments for the intralipids and talked about how long I would be monitored by them.
I don't feel any different, but I need to remind myself that it's still too early. I'm 7dp3dt.
Edit because I was not 10dpt....never good at numbers!!!
@leekat14 Hold out! You can do it! Any time you are tempted to test, come into this thread or look at some pictures of cute pets or something instead! I believe in you
@adriat That's a great suggestion! We're not far from Dartmouth, I work in Albany and we're do-able to both Boston and NY and Montreal so there should be SOMETHING between all of those cities. I am meeting with this new OB at the end of Oct and she seemed willing to work with me find solutions, so I am hoping this will be a good gateway to actually getting the help I need. @leekat14 eeek so exciting!

@kiwi2628 A "normal" sex life? Say it ain't so!
@laurad75 A friend of mine who I am not really in contact with was a donor, but she went through the process three times while we were pretty close. purplg8r sorry about the additional cost.
Cycle/CD: On placebo skipping BC because the scarring is too bad to have a period
So I never EVER had to check if there was enough money for those leggings again.

shortstack930 Yay for moving forward with RE. Hopefully the surgery goes well and they’ll find something.
olliegolly Good Luck finding a place that will do what you need. The RE’s I went to also did the RPL/IF tests, and would fix issues they found. So maybe a regular RE would help you as well? But when my tests all were clear, the first RE told me all he could do was IVF. The second told me I was fat. So…. I haven’t had good luck with that.

@businesswife This is so exciting!!
@purplg8r I would wait to freak out about what you are a carrier for until you have more information. I know that I had HUGE amounts of support when I posted what I was a carrier for and other women here could offer some advice. I was a carrier for two things, and when I had my genetic call, one was a recessive gene. It was something that is treatable and tested for at birth AND even if my husband was a full blown carrier, there was something like a 1 in 500 chance that our child would be a carrier, but only for the recessive gene. It is there job to educate us, but sometimes the outcome can be a lot less detrimental than we prepare for. I’m not sure what you are a carrier for, but feel free to PM me.

Any questions?
GTKY: I'm sure this has already been asked but, if you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Well I wouldn't be stressing so much about this cycle not working because I could afford as many as I need lol. Also take a long vacation and renovate our house. Then invest and save the rest.
@leekat14 How are you holding up in TWW?
I don't feel any different, but I need to remind myself that it's still too early. I'm 7dp3dt.
Edit because I was not 10dpt....never good at numbers!!!
