Hrm, not sure if it is unpopular, but I freaking hate kegel exercises. I have to set an alarm on my phone while I'm pregnant so I don't "forget" to do them.
I also hate Chick-fil-A. Their food isn't that good, and those bastards once denied me food after a 12 hour shift where I forgot lunch, because they told me they only take cash and ATM card. GTFO of here, this is the 21st century you cavemen. Don't want my money? Cool, I don't want your stupid food.

Ahh Chick-Fil-A is my fav! I love their breakfast minis. I eat there way too often. But yea they are totally stupid for doing that to you!

Well, tbh that's how it started for me, but when I found out they use their money to oppress people, I was 100% out. For once I want to see a religious company fund something positive, like I dunno, feeding children? All this anti-stuff is stupid and an unproductive waste of money.
Big amen to this, @ngolimento. Jesus said not one word about homosexuality but did go on and on about loving and serving others. I do think their food is amazing, though.
As a humorous aside, one of my good friends who is also gay was talking about the whole Chick Fil A political situation and said he decided he was still going to eat it anyway. When we asked him why, he said "I guess the fat kid in me beat up the gay kid." We all had tears.

@ngolimento@lindsye I totally agree about CFA. I like their food but I can't give them money in good conscience. If you want to promote "Christian values" then help people instead of hurting people.
@sparklingdiamond my BIL and SIL did that. Part of me thinks l they liked messing with their parents by not telling them. In all honestly were might choose not to announce the name before birth too, though
@orangecup Exactly! People are much less likely to be totally rude about a name once it's actually a baby's name vs. when it's still a hypothetical thing. I float name ideas to close friends who I know won't be jerks about it, but I made the mistake of telling my aunt and she literally haaaaated our top options. Whoops. (To be fair though, she is incredibly conservative about baby names and was appalled when someone in her husband's family named a daughter Avery. She thought it was SO FAR OUT THERE it was like an alien name. Avery. Lol.)

Ugh, I totally hear you and let me just say I have SO much liberal guilt over my love for Chick-fil-a. When I lived in Michigan (where they have very few) I was SO against eating at Chick-fil-a and said I was would never do it. Then I moved to a state where they were on every corner and I eventually just caved. Sadly, I'm just not strong enough to resist now and I also came to the conclusion that if I really want to stay true to my values I would have to basically boycott 50% of the companies I shop at on a regular basis. So I do my best in my day to day life to be an advocate and fight for the things that matter to me in other ways. I understand why some people may think I'm doing a disservice by shopping and eating at some of these companies (hobby lobby is another example) but there are just too many companies that piss me off to keep it up! On that note, I rarely if ever shop at Wallmart. I hate the position they put their workers in and the way their company is run in general.
CalMex is 1,000,000x better than TexMex. Come at me.
FFThC: I have no idea what makes these two different. I live in an area that is sadly devoid of most types of Mexican food (and chain restaurants don't count).
Also it annoys me when people don't want to say the name of their baby until he/she is born. No one is going to steal your name.
In my experience it's less about keeping the name for that reason, and more about having crazy assholes as in-laws. Like me, for example . My in-laws basically told me I was naming my kiddo a family name or else. I'm gonna go with "or else, FU?".

@kmalls I thought the same thing, so I Googled it. I couldn't find any clear answers though.
Ok that makes sense. I don't have super opinionated people in my family fortunately, but I can certainly understand why you wouldn't want to share the name and have everyone comment on it!

My H and I are keeping the name a secret from our friends and family until the birth because we just don't want to hear opinions. Once the kid is named it's too late, so hopefully that will decrease comments from the peanut gallery. Even if you feel really confident in a name it still sucks when your best friend or family member tells you they hate it lol

How do you live without Mexican food???
CalMex is fresher, less cheese (definitely no cheddar), more avocado, fish, lean meats, and herbs. TexMex is more beef, refried beans, and cheddar cheese.

I kind of did this with DS but it was mostly because I didn't want to hear everyone's opinion about it.
+1 to orangecup. Plus, we already had an EDD and knew it was a boy. We wanted to leave a little surprise for the big day. It was 100% NOT about someone stealing the name LOL.
yeah use to eat chick-fil-la a lot then drastically cut back. But I do find it funny that the Falcons put one in their new stadium they just built and it will only be open for one Falcons game this whole current season. Of course it's open for other events that place has, still gave me a nice chuckle when I read that.
@JJMNO1616 I hate walmart. My best friend's wife worked when she first started to go through her transition process and they were so awful to her. Pretty sure they fired her for being transgender but they were sneaky and made it out to be something else.

@kaymaroo - we just don't really have it here! I'm outside of Boston and food tends to skew towards seafood, Italian, "traditional American," etc. Its not like Mexican food doesn't exist, it's just not common like it is elsewhere.
Ooh, I think I have a good UO: I think the gender neutral clothing is (accidentally) anti girl. It's not the goal, but in practice, it's just one more example of society teaching children that traditional femininity (flowers, pink, bows, butterflies) is lame. I was all set to go gender neutral with my daughter, because it's the trend and I'm a feminist and I thought it sounded like a cool idea, but a few months in I just felt like I was just accidentally teaching my daughter, from infancy, that girly things were dumb. I noticed to find "gender neutral" things that I was basically only shopping in the boys' section, which didn't feel very neutral in the end.
I was taught, consciously and unconsciously, that feminine things were silly, unserious or shallow my whole life, and I just had this weird feeling I was unintentionally passing that down. I also didn't like all the muted colors! I think childhood should be a vibrant, loud, colorful exploration of everything!
So, we decided to take another path instead, that I've been thinking of as the "gender rainbow" - where instead of just limiting ourselves to gender neutral things, we buy eeeeeverything across the spectrum: rainbows, dragons, pink frilly dresses, blue superhero stuff, kittens, princesses, trucks, tanks, all of it, lol. That way I feel like she gets to vibrantly experience everything instead of this small, limited, box of non gendered stuff.
But yeah, the gender neutral approach, in practice, kind of ended up feeling kind of anti feminine, to me.

@maureenmce I love this. I agree whole emphasis should be on allowing them to actually choose what they like rather than pushing gender-related norms onto them but not "muting childhood."

See, to me, it's the freakin smugness that annoys me. "Oh we've picked out a name but we're not telling until she/he is born, we wanna surprise everyone"

I'd rather them say "Yeah, we have a few names in mind, just going to see when he/she is born" but secretly know what the name is going to be.

We do that mostly because people tend to be rude about names in my family. They're less rude when they have a face with the name. It's easier for us since we're always team green.

I had never really thought about gender neutral in that way until I read your comment and. I feel like I just had a total mind shift and could not agree more. Definitely going to be my plan from here on out. Thanks for sharing!!
Also it annoys me when people don't want to say the name of their baby until he/she is born. No one is going to steal your name.
I did that because we were undecided. Had we told family what we were thinking we would have had blankets and gear with baby's name on it. We changed baby #1's name 2 weeks before due date.
I also didnt tell people because i cause I didn't want to hear the "oh I know a guy/gal with that name" Stories.
@sparklingdiamond I agree on the ranch! It's so gross. I could eat like a Chipotle ranch or Southwest ranch though.
@ngolimento I don't like CFA either. I think I've had it maybe 3 times in my life? The first time I was like 6 and didn't like it. Had it a few years ago and the nuggets are so greasy.
@kaymaroo I've never even heard of CalMex before. But your description of it sounds gross and that TexMex is way better! Bring on the refried beans and lots of cheddar!!! haha
Hmmm...I probably have a million UO's, I just usually can't think of any. I don't like Harry Potter stuff, Star Wars stuff, LOTR stuff, do not like action movies, seafood is gross, and Johnny Depp is not hott.
ETA: I just realized all the ones I responded to were food related haha
@maureenmce I came to pretty much the same opinion while raising my daughter. At first I was dead set against pinks, but soon got frustrated that I could only buy clothes from the boy section. Eventually I settled on pairing intensely feminine items with statement peices that emphasise intelligence, bravery, education, etc. So for instance yesterday I sent my girl to daycare in a pink tutu with a shirt that listed "Things I like" and included items such as "reading, astronomy, friends, and being a smart girl". It feels like a good balance. Not a strip down of femininity, but redinfining it.
CalMex is 1,000,000x better than TexMex. Come at me.
I feel compelled to respond to this because I am a Houstonian and have had some truly fantastic (and also truly terrible) TexMex. It's insane the difference in quality even within cities in Texas. I can say that in my informed opinion - informed by eating and drinking a shitload of TexMex and margaritas - Houston has some of the best. I have had some terrible TexMex in other parts of Texas, though. My husband is from a small town in Wisconsin and when we visit there, his parents always take us to a "TexMex" place where the food is basically inedible if you've had the real thing.
I've also had some fantastic CalMex, but it's a different animal. I am definitely biased toward TexMex, but different strokes, different folks.

@kaymaroo short list of favorites: El Tiempo, Cyclone Anaya's, Escalantes. None of these are hole in the wall-authentic style places but I think each has some great food.
