  • Kids are starting school tomorrow!! But its not gonna feel routine until like September, because reasons. Hoping I can get a good nap tomorrow. Usually they are good about letting me nap, but nsm today. Oh and I did 2.5 hours of back to school errands with my oldest this morning and pretty sure I almost died. I'm ready for my energy to be back!!

  • How's this for random? I eat such ridiculous snacks at terrible times that I stash them under the couch when I hear DH coming. Like tonight - it was past 10 and i was eating chewy sour sweet tarts. Then I heard DH coming and I didn't want to feel judged. So I just slid them under the couch quickly and they'll be there for me tomorrow. Ha!
This made me LOL. I do this, except it's to hide snacks/toys/lotion(she eats it)/things my toddler shouldn't have. She's always eating my food and getting into random things. She literally tries eating EVERYTHING.  Sorry that was off topic...

  • so I couldn't wait until bitchfest Monday to post this. I found out last night that one of my best friends told another one of our good friends that we are pregnant. We were planning to tell him this weekend. I am so furious right now. She tried to excuse it as a simple slip up and apologized a lot but still. I am so upset she took that moment away from us. To top it off we are going to her and another friends b day dinner Saturday night. I feel like I can't not go but I also can't fake nice. Any advice?
  • @becausescience The Donut Delux position made me literally LOL. I have no idea why...I don't usually laugh at old ppl?! OMG I'm going to hell.

@newmomtx06 Not going to her bday dinner would send a message to her that what she did was inexcusably inconsiderate but that being said maybe it really was a slip up? I want to tell my H's aunt off for telling half of my old work about my pg but I have to play nice since she may be helpful after baby. Maybe just nicely tell her how you feel?

  • Okay so *super important* question here: I have a cousin having lularoe party and I do not own any of this stuff but thought it might be comfortable to wear during the next 7 months. Does anyone have these or wore them through a pregnancy? Are they comfortable by the 3rd trimester?

So maybe it's not that important a of a question.. but I just wanted to hear some thoughts or experience on this :)

I actually have a number of the perfect tees which are bigger and longer than the classic. I also have the Irmas & Carly dresses. All are, so far, great for maternity. The tops are all longer (designed to be worn with leggings afterall) and fit great over maternity pants. And I wear the Tall & Curvy sized leggings anyway which I think have ample room. Given the price of brand new maternity clothes, I think LLR isn't that bad. Especially since you can wear them afterwards.

  • @becausescience - omg... I need that. yesterday.

  • This has been me for the past 48 hours or so.
  • Frustrated, just looking to vent .....

Anyone else 10 weeks and still not see a doctor? I had a positive test at 4 weeks, 2 days and confirmed blood test at 4 weeks, 5 days - blood taken by a pre-med student, never saw a doctor.

I have my first appointment this upcoming week, but especially with my hormones raging, I'm SO FRUSTRATED. Between reading things and my friends/family telling me things, I feel like I don't even know what I should or shouldn't be doing for Baby A at this point and I feel so hopeless and lost.
  • @Knottie84509382, it's frustrating but standard here. Normally our first appointments aren't until we are 12 weeks, unless we are high risk and/or have had previous losses. Even then it depends on your OB as to when you'll come in.

@knottie84509382 I remember feeling that way with my first. I felt like all I kept reading was that the first trimester is crucial for proper development and so many critical pieces come together, and not having an appointment, let alone an information packet sent by my clinic felt like, "Welp, GL with that really important trimester!" But I'll be honest, just reading and talking to experienced moms probably has you in a great place to have already begun a really healthy pregnancy. Take solace in knowing it's really normal to wait that long for your first appointment.

P.S. It's kind of a pain to tag you, is there any way you'd be willing to change your username? Just shorten it?

My first appointment is at 9 weeks and I think a first appointment late first tri is very common. I guess I'm not sure why you wouldn't just call your Dr's office if you have questions. I also have the app Ovia which has really handy food and medication safety lists.

If you get a chance please go over to the Knot and change your username. There are so many Knotties and it makes it hard to tag you or get to know you. You'll have to log out and log back in for the change to take.

  • Omg Motherhood Maternity has underwear 3/$7.50.

Even my fleabag Walgreens undies can't beat that price. I thought I was anti-maternity underwear till I slipped these on.

    Do yourself the favor.
What's the difference between maternity and regular underwear?

  • @LiveNLove44 - just figured out how to update my profile! And yes, I agree. I'm sure I'm in a good place. Having a rough day and away from the hubs all week has got me vulnerable today it seems.

@justkeeptrying that makes me feel better actually. I think between personal friends and social media, I just feel like everyone has seen a doctor and is due way past me, so I am getting anxious and overwhelmed.

They've all also publicly shared their pregnancies, while we have chosen to still wait a bit, so that's nerve-wracking as well.
  • @partiesbycourtneylynne While it is standard, with my first I could NOT have waited that long and saw my Ob before then. I sort of begged but also, this office was a perfect fit for me bc I never felt like I had to actually beg.

@brettanomyces I have no idea  :D but I'm loving these. They are just so soft and forgiving and I needed new undies anyways.
  • @brettanomyces pregnancy underwear are amazing. They are cut different and are super comfortable and stay under your growing belly but don't cut in.

  • I've never tried maternity underwear, but I wear the Under Armour ones that don't show lines. I live in them. Always. Pregnant and not. Comfy and no underwear lines for the win!

    But not exactly cheap.

I am so upset right now, as I mentioned in a previous post (don't remember which thread) I am considered "high risk" because I have an auto-immune disease which could affect the development of the baby's heart.  So after my first OB appt they sent a referral over to the MFN and they were supposed to call me within a week to set up an appointment.  Well they didn't.  So I called them today to make the appt and after being on hold for a long time finally got to talk to the scheduler.  While she was looking at my file she said "oh its weird they haven't had you get an ultrasound yet" and I said "oh I have one on Tuesday but it's for dating, not sure what else they'll look at" and she said "oh yeah that's good they'll check the dates and the viability of the fetus" my jaw about hit the floor like I didn't have enough to think about now I'm freaking out worrying that my baby won't make or possibly hasn't made it already and now I have to wait until Tuesday to find out if my baby is ok-stupid schedule lady putting horrible ideas in my head  :'(

  • Happy birthday @Staciefacie!! I seriously feel you on the mid party nap. I've been so freaking exsausted lately ! Does some of this exhaustion go away in 2nd Tri? Like I mean I expect to feel tired for the next foreseeable future but like taking a shower and sweeping the kitchen and I need a break. I have a bridal shower tmw I'm dreading cuz I have to decorate attended then work :disappointed:

@LaurenAnn0405 I'm so sorry that lady said that some people just don't think before they talk. I hope these days go buy quick so you can Ease your mind !
  • Thank you @KLmyz I mean I knew it could be an issue going in but hearing someone verbalize it and say it the same way she said it really just made me uncomfortable/upset-hopefully the days do go quickly!
  • @LaurenAnn0405 For me, seeing the heartbeat and knowing my baby was measuring correctly to my dates (aka viability) was everything. I guess I don't feel like anything inappropriate or insensitive was said here. Try to relax until your appointment.

  • @Staciefacie Happy birthday!!! Enjoy the celebration (and take a nap!)!!!

@LaurenAnn0405 I think they would benefit (they being anyone who is communicating with patients directly) from some ongoing sensitivity training surrounding word choice and language. I had a similar experience with the nurse who called me with the results for this dating u/s. I had seen a heartbeat and all looked good, but then I had to wait for the "official word" from the doctor's nurse.

When she called, she sounded serious and very clinical. "[My first name], long pause, it looks like, long pause, I am seeing you have an intrauterine pregnancy, long pause, and it looks like baby, long pause, has, long pause, a heartbeat of 167." SILENCE ON THE LINE. "So, we can set up your next appointments if you call the scheduler."

WTF, lady? Like, rephrase and give it a little practice. "Hi, [first name], I am just calling with the results of your scan today. It looks like baby is in the uterus and the heartbeat is at 167, which are both great pieces of information." Is that so hard?!

Throughout my pregnancies, I've had amazing interactions with nurses and support staff, but I've also had a few that make me wonder if they've totally lost touch with those they serve (i.e., the patient). Despite your scheduler's lack of tact/sensitivity to her word choice, I hope you're able to push it aside and reserve space in your brain for positive, chill thoughts until Tuesday! GL!

So I'm not sure about the eclipse on Monday. We're not in the direct path of it, but I keep hearing we'll have a partial eclipse and still can't look directly at the sun.  I'm tempted to stay inside all day with my two year old and watch movies in the basement. Is that overkill?
