GTKY: Nickname for baby

What are you and your SO calling baby before you know the sex and pick a name?

Hope I'm not stepping on any toes here and that this is ok to do. I saw this on another board I'm on and thought it would be fun to do here too!

  • @kaymaroo That's what we did for DD. When she was at raspberry size, we would say "raspberries" because I was so ravenously hungry we were sure it was twins!
  • Slade, mostly because we are nerds, and it is funny.

  • This one we are calling llama
  • My son is calling it "Christopher" and we have NO idea where got that. LOL

We called my son "Frankenstein" or "Frankie" for short :)

  • We originally went with "Chubs", which was re-using our nickname for the dog. We figured the little one deserved their own title, and are going with "Kebab".
  • My two year old calls her sibling "Little Baby" and kisses my belly.
"Courage, dear heart!" (The Voyage of the Dawn Treader)
  • DD was "the bean" and I can't think of anything I'm as cute or fond of for this one.

  • When we first found out and told DD, I showed her a picture of the baby at 5-6 weeks (I was only about 3 1/2 but there is nothing cute about a ball of cells!) and she said it looks like a seahorse. So, she refers to the baby as 1"Baby Seahorse" and it stuck.

    Me (33). DH (37). DD (2.2012). MCs x4. After 4 years & 7 months, due 4.2018!

  • The Ovia app asked me to choose a nickname and so Jellybean it is.  Although, when I first thought of it "Jellybelly" came to my head when I really meant jellybean lol.  So for the first week or so I called it Jellybelly until I realized I was not saying what I meant haha.  Duurrr!

  • We are calling this baby Poppy for now, if it's a boy we might need to change it but it came from it being the size of a Poppyseed
  • @ella26 Why would you need to change the NN if it's a boy? i don't understand. Poppy seems pretty gender neutral.
  • i have been calling it the "weird, cute animal" that it is the size of according to the Ovia app. Last week it was a waterbear. this week it is a dot snail. Very silly, but so are we! :)

He called it the 'bebe' (pronounced like beh-beh) which sounded super cute also.Calling it the baby (just the normal pronunciation) seems too early just yet as it gives more legitimacy to it. Once we have our first doctor appointment I am sure it will then be THE BABY sometimes. :)

  • I've been calling him/her muffin.
  • I haven't called it anything. Not even a baby yet because its not really a baby at this point lol. My first got the nickname little monster some time in the 2nd trimester. Hopefully this isn't a 2nd little monster lol
  • First was Grifflet. Apparently he's one of the knights of the round table. My DH is weird.

Since this one is due in April, I've been calling it April Ludgate so far.
  • Our first was "The Tiny", the second was "Tiny Two", and so far this one has been dubbed "Baby" - although my H has occasionally called it "The Last Targarian".
  • @Puddlewonderful Love/wish I had thought of that nickname, haha.
  • I'm calling it my little Danish stowaway. My husband is working in Denmark and I came out to visit him for my birthday in July. Little did I know what kind of "souviner" I brought back with me!
  • Seedling. Will start calling it by its real name when we find out if it's a boy or girl.
  • At first,  it was little one,  but now it is blueberry. Blueberry just stuck due to the fruit size last week.
  • We called our first "the bean" and changed it to "the lady bean" we we found out she was a girl. Right now we are just calling the baby "little one".
  • We call baby player 3 just because it's ourndirst together
