@maegpie My last blood test was the NIPT (aside from the extra GT I had ) They only took one vile for that . We elected to have additional testing since a blood test was required at that point anyway . It goes with the translucency scan . But was still only one vile it just cost extra . The first blood test I took was full blood work and 4 . 2 large and 2 small vile
This one was defiantly the most blood taken as the first GT I took was 4 . (As they were missing a test from the original blood work so the first draw they took a 2nd vile )
Over all tho I've only taken one urine test (apart from the HPT)
So interesting how different things are over there .
8/29 Blood typing at hospital for rhogam shot even though they know my blood type from my donor card and when I had to get it done after MC in January 8/30 rhogam shot in L&D 8/31 glucose test 9/5 first day of school
I already don't like needles and it's going to be a busy end of the month!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
I have my orange sugar to drink at home. I have to wait until the 21st because we'll be camping next week when I can take it. I guess at my dr office they want me 26w.
@foxaírt my OB ha me pee in a cup at each appointment. I assume they are checking sugar levels regularly then as it's just a dipstick test.
It is really interesting to see the different practices even between OBs and MW. I enjoy getting to hear them though in case it spurs questions for me to ask at my appointments.
My doctor's office called today, and they had to reschedule my test. It was originally going to be next Friday; now it's next Tuesday. Less time for me to stress about it!
I passed my one hour yesterday! I was getting a little worried since this little girl likes donuts and cookies for breakfast but luckily it hasn't affected her too much.
@lancomechica2 Having to redo it stinks, but I've heard of plenty of women who pass the 3 hour. Hopefully you will pass that one!

@bcashaw ugh....i was wondering how it went. Another thing you have to do that sucks but hopefully you will get through it. Seems like a lot fail the initial one but pass the second one. Let's hope for that. I had to take mine early and passed it but they are making me do it again at 28 weeks.
I have mine on Thursday and I'm not looking forward to orange drank. At least I'm drinking it at home and it'll be cold. My appointment is at 8:40 Thursday morning so I'm basically getting up, drinking the drink, getting ready, and heading to the dr.
Just had mine today at 11:30. They didn't require fasting but they did say not to eat on the lighter side earlier in the day before the test. The drink was not nearly as bad as advertised, fortunately; I think it was lemon lime. I did feel nauseated afterwards though. Now the waiting...
I'm sorry for all you ladies who didn't pass the initial screening. Sending good vibes for the three hour! I had mine yesterday and passed, but some of my other blood work wasn't normal and now I have to see a specialist to try to get everything on track before baby comes.
I just got my test back this morning and it was 139 and the normal range was 65-139... My Dr said it was all normal, but it makes me nervous that it was right on that edge of normal....

Me too. I had this mild headache and felt like I wanted to throw up all day. My system had such a shock of too much sugar early in the morning.
@DuchessOfCambridge did they not want you to per before the drink? My Drs office won't let me drink it at home because they said they had to test my pee before I drank it. Interesting.
I'm so ready to crash now after my 3 hour. Ugh. 100g of sugar on an empty stomach. At least it was cold and the fruit punch was better than the orange. Really hoping I passed this one. I didn't get nauseous but felt like my heart wanted to pound out of my chest! I at least had a private room to wait in and a recliner.
@ShePersisted nope, they sent it home with me with instructions that say to drink it before I get there and then go straight to the lab for bloodwork. I meet with my OB after. So weird how it's not the same across the board.
My ob just gave me a lab slip with a date range to get the test done. The lab doesn't require appts so I plan to go first thing Friday morning. I alos have to get my tdap that day.
Mine gave me the drink to take home since my appt is in the afternoon. I just had to fast at least 2 hours before, but I made it 4 hours. I'm actually sitting in the waiting room, wanting to brush my teeth to get the taste of the orange drink out of my mouth! I finished it about 8 minutes ago.
ETA: Boo, I failed. I go back next week for the 3 hour.
I'm sorry to all of the ladies that failed. My SIL is expecting in NOV as well and she failed the 1 hr by over 20 points but passed the 3 hr with flying colors twice. She was tested early on due to some pre disposition and tested again at 28 weeks.
I am late taking my test and don't go until Tuesday. I was told I can have an 8 oz glass of water before along with 1 egg and 1 piece of toast. I'm considering the egg because my appointment is at 9:45 and I typically eat at 6:00. I nixed the toast though as soon as she said it.
I just got my lab slip yesterday to get mine done. Was going to do it after my appt yesterday but I've been sick with nausea and didn't think all the sugar would settle well with me. On a side note, I'm up to appts every 2 weeks now! Where has the time gone?!
@av2323 I'm sorry you failed both. Hopefully it's easy to manage. Have you noticed any physical symptoms?

For those wondering (since it seems that each practice does things differently) I had my appoinyment at 9 30am, was given the drink the week before and told to drink it 45 mins before my appointment. I didnt have to fast or anything ( although i wish i had thought to limit my sugar intake the night before) unfortunately that test came back positive. So now i have to fast for 12 hours and then go to the lab where they will take my blood, give me the drink, take my blood an hour later, and then again at 3 hours. I have to wait in the lab the whole time im sure ill be bored put of my mind but there you have it.

It's so interesting how different every office is. I guess mine gives you the drink at your appointment. You take it, then go down to the lab in an hour. No food restrictions or anything. I do know ingrt fruit punch at mine September 1. (I think I'm the last person for our month$

I drank the drink at home. I was allowed to eat up to one hour before it was time for the drink but I just "fasted" since it was so early. Drank within 5 minutes and then left home to go to the hospital. Went straight to the lab (they gave me the lab slip with the drink at my last appointment), got blood drawn, headed down to my OB for my normal appointment. They already gave me my results which thankfully were in the normal range because I do not want to do this again. The drink was not good but not nearly as awful as I thought it would be, I just feel sick still from all the sugar. I don't have much of a sweet tooth to begin with though.
