When will you be finding out babies sex

Re: When will you be finding out babies sex

  • I want to find out ASAP! I'm super impatient and love to plan :)
According to the Chinese predictor thing it says I'm having a girl - 50% chance of accuracy so we'll see :P

  • @mtkbaby. Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who found it fun! My favorite was a few people at work who told me they wouldn't buy me a gift until they knew the sex. Like the idea that I wasn't going to get a present from them would change my mind, lol.

My sister and I were pregnant at same time (and are again oddly enough....) and she knew it was a girl and did the whole gender reveal party and everything. So it espically pissed my mom off that we were waiting....

  • @courtyowl427 and @mtkbaby it was the same for me too. Not finding out drove everyone crazy. I'm happy for people or find out or wait so I could never figure out why it mattered to them that I didn't want to know.

  • I love the idea of not finding out because I hate how everything is hyper gender specific. Like you don't need pink vs blue everything based on the baby's sex. We bought all the "big" stuff in neutral colors and most of the clothes will work for either also. I think gender neutral clothing is cuter anyway.
  • We bought the big items in gender neutral colors too @orangecup.  Even though we knew we were having a girl we knew we were going to have more then one kid.  Plus a lot of my DD's clothes can be worn by either sex, plus she even has some shirts that are from the boys section because they have Darth Vader on them and she loves Darth Vader.

  • We didn't find out last time, so most of our little baby things are gender neutral. I want to find out this time, but DH wants to wait. Not sure what we're going to do. The chinese predictor says it's a girl.
  • We will be finding out for sure. My DH has enough difficulty waiting to find out his Christmas presents, so he definitely can't wait 9 months. We found out with our DS at his anatomy scan so I am sure we will again.
  • We did Ivf to get pregnant and along with that we did pgs testing. So, when we got the results of that testing we also could find out the gender of our embryos. So we found out and are having a boy :)
  • We will be finding out. I have no patience. And I want to buy stuff! I'm AMA and will opt to do DNA screening, so we will know very early, hopefully.

  • @orangecup I feel the same way. I really don't like all the gender specific hype. We're trying to raise our two year old DS in a more gender neutral home. Boys can like pink stuff, dolls, princesses, etc. Of course he loves trucks and tools too! Just like girls can love sports and dirt! They like what they like.

Chinese gender chart won't work for me, because this baby was either conceived the day before or on my birthday lol. So one says boy, one says girl. I never had a gut feeling with DD.

We want a boy, as my husband is the last to pass along his last name with no other male siblings and his father was an orphan, but we are happy with a healthy baby!

I'm back and forth about finding out because I'm type A with planning, but as mentioned above with the disappointment in finding out would be much less at birth, I'm not sure when I want that to happen midway if it is a girl (I'm sure it is, lol). But like I said, healthy baby is best! DH will do whatever I want to do and doesn't have an opinion either way.

  • We will find out the sex at the anatomy scan. We already have a girl so if it's another girl we won't be buying much. But if it's a boy I will be purchasing some boys stuff! Plus I want to find out so I can decorate the nursery! : )
  • We already have a boy so we would love for this to be a girl. And because I am a planner, I would love to know, but we will probably wait for AS.  I am also thinking ahead that if it is a girl, we can have a third and be surprised then and we will find out the tie breaker at the birth!
  • We didn't find out with either of our two girls. We are finding out this time. We'll have to wait and see what ultrasound options we are given this time. We don't do any of the early testing , so that isn't an option. I've never done any of the OTC gender prediction stuff or anything, but the Chinese calendar was wrong about my oldest daughter and right about my second daughter - so 50% right :P
  • We will find out soon more than other people because we have to have testing done for the baby earlier.  I have some problems developmentel and hearing but that it not from being born.  Paul was born deaf but we are older so they do a test to check for other problems too.  When those tests come back they can tell you what the baby is.  I am very worried I don't want my baby to have problems like me too.  I have a friend on the boards and she is a teacher.  I like talking to her a lot.  I want my baby to go to a regular school and have a regular and great teacher too. I am worried about this a lot.   Thanks, Maggie
  • With our first we found out at our anatomy scan. With our second we were team green. With this one we're going to do a reveal party. Then I get to experience all of the methods of finding out the sex :D:D

    DS: EDD, December 19th, 2014. Born, December 19th, 2014!
    DD: EDD, July 18th, 2016. Born, July 19th, 2016!

  • I reeeeeeally want to wait to find out when the baby is born, but my SO is not on board with that at all. I wanted to wait with our first too, and he was adamantly against the idea. I'm hoping I can sway him towards my way of thinking over then next 16 weeks. =P
  • We're team green for the second time around. I totally understand though wanting to find out. For our first, I thought I wanted to know but as the 20 week scan was approaching I changed my mind. I hate surprises and love to plan but for some reason the not knowing made things all the more exciting. Even the doctor and nurses during delivery were excited!
  • In a perfect world.. I'd wait... but it would just eat me up to wait that long to find out.  I want to have all the decorating done before the baby gets here and I'm not a fan of the neutral look.  The lack of sleep from a new baby is no joke and if I don't get things done before it's here, I won't do anything for the first year, lol

I'm the same, I'm pretty type A and generally don't like surprises but for this, I'm team green all the way! I think it has something to do with the limited number of possible outcomes
  • We will be finding out asap. Major props to those who are team green, my type A personality won't allow me to be but that would be so awesome.
  • We'll be finding out when we can! Probably around early second tri. I'm high risk so I get tons of US and last time I had one at 16 weeks that they were able to tell us. I don't believe in OWT, last time 90% of it was saying girl and I can confirm by 13 months of diaper changes that I have a son ;)

I can't wait for all the nub theory post (eye rolls)
  • I'm a type A personality that successfully did team green (once...)! It can be done! It's kind of miserable lol, but it was super cool to have DD's sex announced at delivery. It was an amazing rush of feelings that I can't even describe... that would have been the same regardless of the sex so I don't even understand it, but it was an amazing experience.

One I'll never do again because I must knowallthethings...

  • Based on the due date, not until early December... Seems like a crazy long time to wait! But we'll find out. We found out with our first baby and liked that, so we'll find out with this one.

Plus I'm really hoping for a girl, so if it's not a girl, I want time to be able to deal with my disappointment. I'll be fine, but I'd like learning the sex to be a separate event from birth.

    1. Will you be finding out at all?
Yes, we want to know. We already have a DD and if this one is a boy, we might opt for team green if we decide to have a 3rd.

    2. Will you wait until your anatomy scan at about 20 weeks to find out?
With my DD, my OB surprised us at 16 weeks and asked if we wanted to find out the sex. I wasn't expecting to find out til 20 weeks! Hopefully she'll do the same this time around!

    3. Will you use early prediction methods? (SneakPeek test results, early blood work, gender prediction kits, Chinese gender predictor, etc.)
Thankfully my family doesn't have any history of genetic diseases to justify early blood work. We won't be doing any gender prediction kits that cost money, but I think it's fun to use old wives tales predictors like heart rate, cravings, etc. Chinese gender chart predicts boy for this baby and correctly predicted my DD, so we'll see!
  • Finding out ASAP probably. Since I'm old, I guess I'll get the early blood work. Otherwise I'm convinced I can tell by the 12 week scan with the "nub theory."
Since I have two boys already I need to know if I have basically zero preparation to do or if I need to buy girl clothes.
The funny thing is that I really wanted a girl during my first two pregnancies, but this one I'm totally 50/50. Having two of a kind is awesome because they play the same games, so I feel like three of a kind would be kind of a complete set, haha.
  • @kclouds Your post sounds just like me!!! I have 2 boys and want to know asap if I have everything or if I need girl stuff!  I'm 36 so will prob have extra testing. How old are your boys?

  • I think we will probably find out this time. With my DD we were team green and I thought we would have this great moment when we found out. However, there were complications and that moment of joy was overshadowed by worry and fear.

  • @roomsu and @kclouds have you heard of sneak peek? You can find out as early as 9 weeks with that! I'm contemplating trying it!
  • @sjn00 what is sneak peak??? Must know more!

They send you a kit for a blood sample  (by finger prick) and they check your blood for the x chromosome. They can find out as early as 9 weeks. It costs as low as 50$ with a coupon they have on their website and can send you the results either in 72 hours or 5-7 days (depending on what you pay for). It is 99% accurate and if they are wrong they give you a full refund when the baby is born!

Here is their webiste, but they also have a Facebook and Instagram!

  • I was thinking if we ever had a 3rd that I'd be team green for once ( we found out at the a/s for both our girls). DH does not want to wait tho. Well see.

@sjn00 that's neat, I'll have to look into that!
