Re: TTCAL Week of 7/24

  • 1. On the new side, MC in early June.
    2. Status: 6dpo, but benched (whomp, whomp) until I see a totally normal cycle.  Hopefully that'll be this cycle!  We'll just have to see if I get the weird bleeding again at the end of AF in a couple weeks, and if not...it. is. on.
    3. R/R? My garden (flowers, not food) is blooming beautifully!  That's all I've got...boring week, lol.
    4. I would have rocked the 1970's: the music, the fashion, the second wave feminism...

    1. On about my 14 cycle TTCAL.

    2. CD 9

    3. Just trying to get a bit of BDing in before O. My RE wants me to start tracking again so I'm trying to get back into that routine. I gave up on trying all of the tips and tricks online on how to get KU asap. But someone shared to my endo group this theory of taking Benadryl for a few days during the implantation window. I guess there are some schools of thought that with endo, it tends to kill sperm and embryos and that this might have that immune response. Tons of people came forward saying that it worked for them and a doctor that contributes to the group agreed that there might be something to it. Since Benadryl is safe for pregnancy, I feel like I have nothing to lose.

    4. Hmmm...that's a hard one. I love a lot of different eras. I always think it would be fun to live in the 60s so that I could be a housewife like Samantha from bewitched. Although I mostly just want magical powers. Lol. Then DH reminds me of all of the racism and sexism and how it wasn't that great of a time for women. He's such a spoil sport. Mostly I just don't want to have to work and I can use my magic for chores! Lol

  • @MooFish2364 that's a very interesting theory. A few weeks ago we BD a few days earlier than what I thought was my FW. Then DH and I both came down with horrible colds and I took Benadryl cough syrup for a week straight. Then got a shocking BFP. As you may have seen, things didn't go as planned and I started to MC on Sunday. I'm now in the blaming myself stage and of course feeling horrible that I was popping advil and chugging back Benedryl as I didn't think I would get pg this cycle. I'm not sure if the Benedryl helped or hindered but after reading your post I thought I'd share.

    1. Not new. 1st MC in April at 7w5d. 2nd MC this past weekend at 5w2d.
    2. In the trenches, currently mc'ing
    3. Lots to rant about right now but I'll spare you all from my anger. Why me, what did I do to deserve this, this is so not fair, etc. Im sure you can all understand. I do also have a rave. Once a year I organize a huge event to bring about 300 women together to celebrate being strong healthy active women and fundraise for a teen mentoring program that focuses on healthy eating, active lifestyles and positive self image. It was a smashing success and a ton of fun. That was Saturday and thankfully I didn't start to MC until Sunday morning so I was able to enjoy the day.
    4. Is it ok to just pick the 80's. I could listen to 80's love ballads all day long.
  • @rosemaryandthyme Does your choice of the 70s have anything to do with your handle? Cause everyone I read it in Paul Simon's voice and I know the early 70s were big for singer-songwriter. Also, hopefully AF will straighten-up and act right this cycle!

@MooFish2364 Ooh... hadn't heard about the Benadryl. Now I'm contemplating taking some tonight... because why the hell not? I'd heard about taking Mucinex around O to help make CM more hospitable. I really wish there was better research on this stuff.

@40momma I feel ya. My NMC last year was tough, but I kept telling myself it was a fluke and once I got KU again everything would be ok. So in a lot of ways my CP this month was more difficult emotionally. I just have to keep reminding myself that there's nothing I did wrong. There are lots of wonderful people who do everything they can and still struggle with fertility and lots of horrible people that proliferate no matter what they do. It's all just dumb luck. But man it sucks to be on the crappy side of the statistics.

    AFM:
    1. New poster within the past month. NMC 11/2016 at 7W, CP 7/2017 at 4W.
    2. Who the hell knows?! Gave myself the month off from testing, but have been using CB OPKs. That smiley has been blinking for the past 8 days. I think it's just mocking me with its smug little face. I usually O around CD15, which was last week, so I'm going with that.
    3. R/R Rant: see above. Never again will I "take a break" from temping. It has increased my BSC by 1000x. Rave: My MIL gave us some furniture last weekend and kept pressing DH to take her old toddler bed. He politely declined the first few times and then finally said "we don't have a toddler and I'm not bringing anything home that might remind my wife of that and make her cry." Love that man! He's always got my back.
    4. After last week the only time periods I'd want to live in would have to have AC! Maybe the 60s so I could go see some of the awesome musicians I love that have since passed away. Also, I wouldn't have this massive student loan debt if I'd gone to college then!

  • 1. Introduce yourself (if you're new)!  Not new approaching a year.  Two MCs aug 2016 and mar/April 2017

    2. Status? CD 1. Waiting for RE to call back in supposed to have an US on CD 1,2 and 3 before new rounds of meds and injections start

    3. R/R?just mad that AF arrived and that I'm not KU

    4. GTKY: What historical time period do you think you'd fit best in and why? 80s I'm with you @40momma

@rosemaryandthyme I hope this cycle is better for you

@MooFish2364 I haven't heard about Benadryl.  I like your idea of not working and having magical powers

@leahcimmichael I hate student loan debt too!
  • @rosemary&thyme I am no good with plants!! My plants are thankful for the wet summer we have had but I'm not!

@MooFish2364 I love Bewitched!!! I would love some magic for chores!!

@leahcimmichael AC is def a must!! Altho it's like 60* here today! Wouldn't even know it's summer!

    1. Def not new. Been here on and off since Nov.

    2. TWW

    3. Two days of rain and I'm over it. I want the hot weather back!!

    4. I think I would only go back to the 80s as well. I have a lot of good memories and wouldn't mind going back. I also do love visiting historical places and would love to see how people used to live.
  • edited July 2017
@MooFish2364 Yeah, the sexism and racism of the 70s probably means I wouldn't *actually* like it all that much, either :/  That pesky reality getting in the way of my fabulous 70s hair fantasy!  That's really interesting about the benadryl...I'm curious to research some about that!

@40momma I still am just so sorry that you are back here :( Your event sounds amazing, and I'm glad you got to enjoy it.

@leahcimmichael Yes! Totally a nod to good ol' S&G (along with some other meanings)...I read it in the melody of the song, too.  If I ever get banned, look for my return as parsleysage ;)

@Mack2342 Ugh, CD1 blows.  I hope your RE has some good input and you have success this next cycle.

@sprkls8506 I'm getting better with plants each season.  I'd say I have an army green thumb...half-way between brown and green ;)

  • @40momma that is interesting. But don't blame yourself. I'm sure that had nothing to do with your loss. I know it's hard not to go over everything when you've suffered a loss.

@leahcimmichael the article said to take 25mg. (one pill) 3x a day. She started on 4DPO and continued to take it for 6 days. There were a lot of success stories on the site.

@Mack2342 sorry for af. Hoping that everything goes smoothly and this upcoming round of treatment works for you!

@sprkls8506 I love history and visiting historical places. I so wish i was a timelord like Doctor Who and could simiply visits wherever I wanted whenever I wanted.

@rosemary&thyme I wish I could find the link to the article. I will have to look through fb again to see if I can find the original post. I would love me some fab 70s hair! Bring on the aqua net! Lol

    2. Status?  9dpo,  bfn this morning
    3. R/R? I'm getting very bored of this Summer thing. I wish the weather would chill out and I would have something to do every day. I can help but keep thinking that it would be the perfect time to be a SAHM with my EDD back in May, but instead I'm twiddling my thumbs.
    4. GTKY: What historical time period do you think you'd fit best in and why?

I'm on board with the time traveler thing. I don't think I'd want to go back somewhere with less equality and understanding on a permanent basis.
  • 1. Not new just finished up my first month of ttc. Nmc around thanksgiving.
    2. CD4.
3.rave: it finally cooled down in KY so the past two days I got to run farther and in the afternoon instead of morning.
    4. Not sure, this was the theme of my bachelorette party. I was the 90s for it.
@40momma so sorry to see you back. Try not to feel guilty, I took a human development class and basically the book said before 6 or 7 weeks, as long as you aren't doing hardcore drugs or binge drinking every night, there is very little effect on the baby.
@rosemaryandthyme I had a beautiful flower garden at the beginning of the summer but the heat has really killed it the last two weeks. I planted these annuals 3 years ago and they have come back and grown over 4 feet tall thanks to rabbit poop fertilizer.
    @Mack2342 sorry about a.f.
@allowachick where do you live? I love the summer but hate the middle of the summer where it's too hot to go outside. Sunday at 5 a.m. our heat index was 95. WTF?
@leahcimmichael I grew up in the late 80s. We had no a/c. I didn't have central air until 2012. I don't remember this bothering me as a child.

@rklinge0 I'm in PA so not too hot to handle but we have humidity issues. We live in the city so walking everywhere is the main mode of transport. It's getting to be a drag.

Glad you got to run farther!

@40momma So sorry you are back here. :( Your event sounds amazing. I have wanted to get involved in something like that for a while now. Is it a national organization?
@rosemaryandthyme I find gardening very therapeutic, but I wouldn't say I have a green thumb. We are currently playing chicken with some weed covered areas in our yard. Hoping to have some landscaping work done, but thinking about waiting until next year finance wise. I just don't want to go through all the trouble dealing with it myself if we are going to have it torn out soon.
@MooFish2364 the Benadryl thing sounds super interesting. If you wanted to post the article if you see it again, many of us might want to take a look.
@leahmichael I am with you on the 60's except for the inequality factor. But I am totally fine sweating out the summer.

    1. Sorta new still. Term loss April 2017 to placental abruption.
    2. Status - Technically still benched. I am waiting out my "cycles" for something to look normal. This last one is getting closer for sure. I think I just O'd yesterday or the day before. Not tracking anything necessarily, just guessing right now and judging by CM. But, after our vacation in late August we are thinking we will be trying again. Sigh.
    3. R/R Rant- my job is just destroying me right now. I am swamped and starting to notice the stress taking its toll on my anxiety levels. I need to get back to an acupuncture schedule again or at least find a way to deal with this a little better. Rave - Date night tonight and tomorrow night with hubby. DD is with grandparents for a couple days.
    4. I think I have always been a hippy at heart, so I am going with late 60's....Specifically attending Woodstock in 1969 would have been so fun.

  • Rant- went to RE today and have left over follicles from last cycle so we can't start new stronger meds for IUI.  We have to take a rest cycle from meds and just try naturally.  Which he said there is a percentage of women who get pregnant on the rest cycle.  I can't recall bc all I heard was blah after he said rest cycle.   I'm bummed but I get it he said that follicles could interfere with stronger meds.  I have a dilemma now which I guess I would have if we were doing IUI but I'm supposed to go to the breast cancer 3 day event which would be on CD 12, 13 and 14 which could be O time so while I want to go to event and will be mad if I miss it and don't get pregnant but then if I go and miss my O I will be made about a bust cycle.  I don't think I'm willing to go on break all together for a month
  • pghrenpghren member
@Mack2342 that sounds like a really tough decision, sorry about the timing
  • @allowachick talked to DH and he doesn't want a break either so I will miss the event.  This will only be the 2nd time I have missed this event in 17 years.  The only other time was when I was a week away from delivering my son. I'm bummed either way
  • @mrschx - the charity is Go Girls which is a division of Big Brothers Big Sisters. I'm not sure if they have it down in the States, I'm up here in Canada

@Mack2342 - sorry about your timing, that really sucks. Is there a chance DH can go with you to the event? The timing of all of this TTC is really frustrating. We planned a trip for late fall then found out I was pg, EDD Dec 5 so we cancelled, then I mc, then we started talking about another trip in the winter then I got pg again but mc. I feel like I can't plan what I'm going to do next weekend 'cause I have no idea what my darn body will be doing.
  • @40momma I can relate! We delayed ttc because of Zika and some trips we had planned. Then ended up canceling a trip and I was like well at least I'm pregnant so we didn't cancel for nothing. Then I had the miscarriage.  :/

@Mack2342 I hope this is your lucky month!
  • @40momma DH could go but I work from sun up to sun down so when I'm done I'm exhausted.  I'm just going to miss it. It not worth missing opportunity to conceive hopefully!  This process is so consuming I feel like I'm in limbo most days

Hi all I'm back from vaca and feeling tired!

i just saw yet another pregnancy announcement on FB. I'm happy of course but still bummed. The friend has a DD same age as mine she's due with #2 in March.  Thants ok we will get another dog this fall I tell myself.

  • @vlagrl29 sometimes the fb announcements really stink. Of course you are happy, but at the same time it is hard when it is something you really want. A dog will keep you busy and fall is just around the corner!

thank you @sprkls8506 - today is a new day and I will get some things accomplished now that we are back home.  I think this one hit me harder because It's the exact age gap I wanted with my kids and I should be due next month with the one we lost.  Now I'm afraid it will be an 8, 9 or got forbid 10 year age gap.  I'm going to look at adoption doggy places online today.

@vlagrl29... I like "today is a new day" I'm trying to remember that today! I told DH I want a puppy this morning. He didn't say no
  • jchpgjchpg member
    Ah lost half my post!

he didn't say no... but I know it won't happen for a while. THis CD1 hit me hard this time. It would have been an edd of early April just before my 35th birthday. I know it dosent matter that much but I've had a hard date of having my first by the time I'm 35. I hate it but I know DH is right when he says, things will happen the way they should when they are supposed to happen....

  • @jchpg I always wanted to have my first by the time I was 30.  I had my first at 40 lol and now struggling to have the next one.  I didn't meet DH til later in life so the 30 date went out the window
  • @vlagrl29 Welcome back!  FB announcements are very bittersweet...I've had to significantly cut back on my social media time sice there's always so many.
  • @jchpg - I had my first at 30 and now I'm 37 and I just keep telling myself I have 3 more years.  A friend I know on FB I was venting to last night she has an almost 1 year old.  This morning she messaged me to warn me that she would be announcing soon she was pregnant and she didn't want to blind side me.  It was an accident but they did want another baby this one just came a year sooner than expected.  You know that didn't bother me because there is no way in hell I would want to be pregnant with a baby and 2 kids in diapers.  I'm truly happy for them.  The girl that announced last night was maybe 8 weeks and this girl I have a feeling will announce soon as well.  After having my loss there is no way I would put it out on FB that early.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @vlagrl29 That helps me too-getting stuff done!!! EDD are hard!! Mine was June and I was really hoping to be pregnant by then. I hope this is your lucky month!
  • thanks @sprkls8506 - I was sure I would be pregnant by my EDD which is August 26th.  I have little hope to tell you the truth.  We had decent timing I would say but we only had sex 1 day during vacation.  we had some family drama when we stayed with FIL the 2nd half of vacation.  He actually kicked us out of his house our last night there and we had to find another hotel to stay at.  It was really un necessary.  But most of the vacation was awesome.  BUT the fact that I truly believe nothing is wrong with me is a major step as I've felt there must be for many months now.  My cycles are like clock work and the cervical mucous pattern is on point as well.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @vlagrl29 I don't think I could announce early on fb either!! I feel like I would only tell people who I'm very close to. Sorry about the family drama! Glad you had a great time for the most part!! I'm with you on the clockwork cycles and cm. Of course it took me a few months after the d and c to get there.
  • @vlagrl29 I find it so hard to bite my tongue sometimes when people announce so early. Part of me thinks they are crazy for being so naive and then part of me is happy that of course they assume nothing bad will happen, I wish we could all assume that. But I know I can never feel carefree about a pregnancy again. A friend of mine found out about my 2nd MC and the next day asked me if I wanted to go for a swim at the lake. No, I can't go swimming, I'm busy passing f@*%ing tissue! But then I remember of course she doesn't realize that and I hope she never has to realize that.
  • well I sent out an email asking about puppies for a breeder about 40 minute drive from us.  Gosh her puppies were adorbs!  I'm afraid the price will be steep.  Some of these puppies I want are at least $800 - I bought our current dog for $300 and I'd like to keep it at that.  I see the photos of them and I just want to snuggle and cry at the same damn time!
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @40momma - I hope they never have to experience what we have either.  I was very naive when I got pregnant with DD but luckily that was a healthy pregnancy.  Most people on FB announce at 20 weeks with the gender reveal.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @vlagrl29 Awwww... what breed of puppies? Some breeds are really outrageously expensive! At one point I wanted an English Bulldog, then saw how much they cost. Nope!
  • miniature schnauzers @leahcimmichael - we have a 9 year old one and I think she would love the company or possibly not because she is so spoiled :)
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @vlagrl29 Miniature schnauzers are soooo cute! Does your dog like other dogs? My dog is 8 years old and I have the same hesitation about adding another dog to the family. Will my pup live the company or be like "wth? I'm too old for this crap. That thing is NOT sharing my humans!" Lol
  • @leahcimmichael My dog does love other dogs.  She was at my MILs house with 3 other beagles while we were on vaca.  She does get jealous when someone new enters the home permanently.  She had to adjust to DH moving in and DD coming home from the hospital.  Eventually she adjusts and is totally fine so I see this being the same way.  I'll have to give her some extra love when the puppy comes in.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @vlagrl29 Yea, she'll adjust. Like you said, some extra love and some time. Hopefully you find the perfect new pup for you soon!
  • I've already prayed about it lol :)@leahcimmichael

Below is our Gabby when I got her 9 years ago.  I was going thru a transition in my life.  I had been married before and it did not work out.  I moved into my parents house and picked up the pieces so to speak and was about ready to move out of their house when my mom convinced me to look at dogs.  We found a litter 2 hours away and I was just going to please my mom.  Well there were 5 puppies left.  I sat down on the floor and this one just came up to me and sat in my lap and looked up at me with those eyes.  I could not say no.  we've been going strong ever since.  It use to be just me and her before I met DH.

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I just had a thought - I had a c section with DD 6 years ago and healed up just fine with a scar you can barely see.  What if there is scar tissue on my uterus preventing me from getting pregnant or loosing that one from December?  I'm going to bring that up at my OB appt next month and see if they can check that out thru an ultrasound.  I mean I don't think and would be shocked if this was the case but I'm so against medical interventions that I want to rule everything else out first.

so since we've been back from vaca I've  been casually looking for puppies.  I found myself doing it when I would find my mind drifting off to thoughts of getting pregnant.  Well now I found a puppy on CL right in our price range but I don't have the money saved up yet.  It's a dangerous slope ladies.  I got super excited when I saw the ad and it was just posted yesterday.  DH is still certain I'll get pregnant after we get a puppy but I keep telling him I won't.  He says the puppy power will produce a huge egg. lol.
