Re: July FET

  • Thank you so much ladies!!  The positives are still holding strong on the HPTs.  I'm on POAS overload right now because I feel like i want to make up for all the negatives in the past! Every positive boosts my mood just a little bit more!

Fingers crossed for those still waiting for their beta, trying again, or still waiting for their FET! We've all come too far to give up now! We can do it!

@slmurphy12 congrats on your positive!! Fingers crossed for a strong beta!! When is your beta test?

AFM, Friday can't come soon enough!!! I just want to see the heartbeats so I can breath a bit easier.
  • @cscher2 I agree about Friday! My first beta is that day and I'm already anxiously waiting. Going to be a long week at work if I'm already ready for Friday and the week hasn't started.  :D
  • Thank you everyone! I'm still very very nervous!
@cscher2 my beta is Wednesday the 26!
  • @Hopeful_mom Girl, you know I did my fair share of drinking this trip, AF or no AF haha.  It definitely put a damper on things though.  Between recovering from the double infections and then AF showing up, no sexy time for us haha.  That was kind of a bummer because it would have been nice to enjoy that on vacation too after the FET disappointment, but oh well.

Thank you for the anniversary wishes!  We actually just did the annual watching of our wedding dvds haha.  We couldn't do it on the day because we were away, so we made up for it tonight.  I can't believe we've been married 8 years already.  We've been trying to get PG for 5 years... More than half of our marriage!  More than half has been spent obsessing about getting PG... It makes me sad when I allow myself to think about it.  We are happy of course, but I think how much happier we could be had we gotten PG and had at least one child years ago.  IF is so stressful on a marriage.  And like you said, it could be one of a million things causing us to not have success... Whether it's abnormal embryos, immune issues, or just plain bad luck.  I mean I listen to you ladies on here who have had all the immune tests and addressed them with appropriate meds, have transferred normal embryos and STILL don't have success and it makes me wonder, do I really need to go through all that?  Do I really need to have the embryos tested?  Do I need to be tested for immune issues?  Many of you did those things and it still didn't help.  It's so frustrating.  I am OOP for the actual procedures.  I have some coverage for meds, but not all meds.  My FX for your embie that survived thaw to be a normie!

@mtele Congrats on being PUPO!  Hope your little one is settling in... I love Modern Family!  That was a good choice to watch.

@cashewchicken Your post made me lol about your MIL.  I'd be heading to work too if I were you lol.  I was annoyed today when I came home from getting groceries and wanted to pull in front of the house to have DH help me unload them and she was parked there (eye roll).  I can't stand when she unexpectedly shows up.  I can't believe yours is living with you... Again, you should be in the running for sainthood haha.  And you are definitely not a wimp!  That's something I know for sure... There is not one of us on these IF boards that is a wimp!  I was just trying to save you some money haha.  Awesome that you were able to do it yourself then!  #badass  Isn't it weird though how much easier it is and less painful when you do it yourself?  I had wanted DH to do it for me on weekends just to keep him involved in and mindful of what I'm going through, but I found that it ended up more painful than when I did it myself, so I just opted to keep doing it on my own.  You might find you like it better doing it yourself as well.

@angelbea I'm so sorry things didn't work out.  See, that's what pisses me off.  It's like you were doing everything "right" and still didn't get the success you deserve.  You transferred a normal, you were medicating your immune issues, and listed all of those things you did to help the process... You can't get more perfect than that.  That's just not right that it didn't work out for you and that's what I'm saying with how I go back and forth between investigating further to see if I have more issues, or just saying f@#$ it and just doing another FET and transferring 2 in hopes that it helps my odds.  I hope you get some answers and can move forward to try again in a way that helps to ease your mind.

@dreamcometrue2017 I'll say welcome and congratulations all in one!

Congrats @slmurphy12!  I can't wait to hear your beta number!

@cscher2 and @MMD1986 Hope the week goes fast for you ladies and you get some great news!

Lucky me, I get to drive 45 minutes tomorrow morning to my clinic for the final bastard beta that shows I'm back to normal... Well, normal is a relative term lol.  Like I know it won't be back to the starting point after AF showing up, but I guess it's good to be sure.  Tuesday I have the cycle follow-up call with my RE to talk about what went wrong this cycle and what we can do in the future.  As usual, you can't be given an exact time when she will call... It's just whenever she has time throughout the day to call in between patients.  So I basically have to just wait by the phone all day.  But I guess it is better than making another drive down there.  I don't even know what to think anymore.  Regardless, we will probably take a couple of months off.  August and September are so busy for me with back to school stuff.  I don't want to have to worry about taking shots or running down for appointments during those months.  I also agree with you @angelbea that it's good to step back from everything and take a break.  I actually found myself looking at OPKs at the store today.  I've been thinking hey, we'll try on our own for a few months like the old days and maybe a miracle will happen haha.  Riiight!  A gal can dream I guess.  I didn't end up buying anything though.  I still have a million internet cheapie strip OPKs... I just hate them and find them hard to read.  One day there's no line... Then the next day there's a faint line and I'm like is that it?  I'm not sure, it's so light... Then the next day it's gone again and I'm like shit, I guess that was it?  That's why I was tempted to buy a fancy digital one like I used to use when doing IUIs, but they're so damn expensive!  For something you just pee on and throw in the trash, I feel like $20+ a kit is a bit extravagant haha.

  • slmurphy12 I just squealed at 2am whoops!!  whoo hoo!!!  see just give ur body a chance, hoping each day it gets darker, bring on the beta!!

MMD1986 are u going to POAS?

joneser1281 so i'm sitting here reading ur post and saying no dont buy opks, i'll send you mine, I have so many left!  Silly me thought using OPK back in the day was really obsessively tracking and i didn't need all that HA, how wrong was I!  And then you want the fancy kind, you know I got the cheap ones too...cause the people buying the one for $20 just need it for the month right, bitches. :D I agree with the cheapies that the line is super light thats why when I would get the slight faint one, I would do the test about every 3 hours so I would know and could see the difference.  Mine was never super dark so of course I'm like, something's wrong with me  :s   Its always fun to try for sure,  You certainly deserve to enjoy and have some time off.
Despite everything it sounds like you really had a nice time and I admire that!!  How long were u and DH together before getting married.  I'm laughing that I put my wedding off as I wanted to have the baby first, did I think it would take this long, NO!  BUT I also didn't realize I would need the money for the wedding to spend on IVF instead.  I hate that money plays a factor in this at all, it drives me nuts!  Even that stresses me out so I always need to try and put it at the back of my head when trying to do this next cycle. I'm sorry that you dont have your miracle yet hoping you dont have to wait too much longer!  Looking forward to hear what your RE will have to say.

AFM:  Went in for my BW and US and got the go to start on my patch for estrogen priming so now i wait for AF to show...here we go again i think... :D

  • @joneser1281 and @hopeful_mom Im so sorry you have to deal with this part of the process ladies! It feels hopeless, and i've totally been there, but I think we will all get our chance one way or another.  We are definitely very strong women to have made it this far without giving up!

AFM, Im super nervous about going for my beta this morning.  I had a hard time falling asleep last night and was up tossing and turning every so often.  I was using cheapie strips the last few days, so decided today to use a FRER.  The test line appeared instantly and was slightly darker than the test, so i hope that means something.  I am just so anxious about those damn numbers being good!  Fingers crossed for a good phone call this afternoon!

@Hopeful_mom I have one pregnancy test left in my cabinet so I highly doubt I make it to beta without using it. At the least I'll use it Friday morning in case of bad news, so I'm not shocked when I receive the call at work. Good luck to you on your next cycle. Hopefully AF hurries up and gets here.

  • @joneser1281 thank you! I hope you had a fun vacation! You deserve it for sure. I truly feel for you, your posts really crack me up and I was hoping for you to be the "p" word!! I'm sure I'll be nervous to get my beta but I'll let you know! ❤️
  • @Hopeful_mom yay! Thank you for squeaking! It was so nice to finally see a line!!! After over six months of "aggressively" trying naturally and having many BFN it was crazy to see a line haha it got darker today! So we shall see!
  • @dreamcometrue2017 good luck today! ❤️
  • @joneser1281- Taking a break is good. I took a lot of breaks along the IF journey and at times I felt like I was wasting my time but breaks helped me mentally as well as physically. I pigged out on foods I can't have when I'm pregnant like some soft cheeses and raw foods and that made me super happy. It occurred to me last night that I should have had sushi last weekend before the transfer!

Doing the shot yourself certainly hurts less than when you have it done by others... or so I thought until shot #4.  My left bum barely hurt but my right bum! Oh hurt so badly. Not when the needle went in but after. Was sore for two solid days! Both times on the right. Wonder why?

@Hopeful_mom- Are you gearing up for FET? That is awesome!

AFM. Transfer day. 1:40 pm is the time! Wish me luck!

  • Hey Ladies!! So i went for my beta this morning and was expecting the call between 3-4 this afternoon.  Imagine my surprise(and nerves) when I got a call at 9:45am!  My nurse was jumping the gun before my doc even signed off and calling with my results because she was so giddy and excited and knew I would want to hear about it!

Today i am 4 week 2 days and 11dpt.....beta was 503!!!  I was completely blown away and kept breaking out into crazy, excited laughter periodically.  So the embryo either split or we just have one tough little one in there!  I go back on 7/26 and 7/28 for follow ups and then we schedule the first u/s.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement!

Yay @slmurphy12! Congrats to all the transfers last week! We need some good news here .

I'm back.  I'm going to do a Timed Intercourse cycle with Gonal F and immune treatment of prednisone and Lovenox and then PIO after Ovulation. They will monitor it and I also will use a Clear Blue monitor. We are using Gonal Because my ovary that still has a tube (lost one because of ectopic) isn't my dominant one. However in IVF it contributed equally and worked fine.

Ill be honest FET wasn't for me process wise and I think I want to give more Natural a few more chances since Implantation is my main issue. IVF with PGS has showed me egg quality and normality isn't my problem. I'll still do another egg retrieval before the end of the year and insurance runs out if we don't have success with TI.
  • Whew! Transfer is done!  This is the farthest I've come with all the infertility treatments.  This time I know I'm PUPO.  The appointment was at 1:40 but the clinic was running behind and the transfer took place around 2:20.  I nearly DIED when the nurse pressed on my lower abdomen with the ultrasound wand.  I'm so glad I was able to hold it during the procedure.  My RE was very impressed with my full bladder.

My clinic doesn't require any bedrest, he pretty much told me to just get up and get moving, but don't start any hardcore exercise like training for a marathon.  Just my routine, normal activities.  Beta is scheduled for 8/2.  My plan is not to POAS at all, just patiently wait for the beta day, but I have no will power so I can't guarantee that will happen.

  • @cashewchicken. Doesn't it feel great to get the transfer done?  Hubby and I were so amazed watching that little shooting star on the screen!  Well done holding your bladder! I had to lay down for 45 min after! I was literally dying, at one point i couldnt hold it anymore and hubby was getting worried because i was squirming. He actually had to put the bed pan under me! Ahh the joys of this process...definitely no mystery left in this relationship! Lol.

Fingers crossed for a great result for you!

  • @dreamcometrue2017 CONGRATS!!!  woohoo that is a nice beta, can't wait for the next one!  How wild if it split!!  How r u feeling?

@cashewchicken. yay you are PUPO!!!  congrats mam!!  I feel like it went fast for you...I'm sure not fast enough.  Funny my RE said the same to me with my bladder, I thought i was going to have an accident, I couldn't even enjoy the transfer.  Glad things went so smoothly, wishing u all the sticky vibes in the world!!  You guys ended up picking ur embaby right?  Did you do all icsi or not...I can't only remember so many things ;)  Best of luck holding out as long as you can ;)  I'm thrilled for u!!  I"m not up to an FET yet, hoping to put it off one more cycle as I do one more IVF cycle....I'm sure u think i'm bonkers but with everything that went on I decided to give it one more go and move on with whatever happens....ugh, even writing that makes me nervous!!

Ash_SE glad you've got a plan in place - would be so happy if you could get your miracle on TI, I hope u've got some Olympic swimmers with good directions.  I always tell my OH that his boys have terrible directions!  Why can't they just stop and ask directions  :D

AFM: I've had such a crazy day not that it matters as I got the best news as I was awoken from a nap as I was up all night.  The results are in my embaby is NORMAL, i got my normie from cycle 7 - I couldn't have asked for anything better...I'd love to take back all the extra hours of crying and sleepless nights...but finally some good news.  I'm still in shock and disbelief.

  • @cashewchicken congrats on being pupo!!! Enjoy it. I swore I wouldn't take a test and here I am five hpt deep haha I'll be getting my beta tomorrow! But I took a digital this am and it flashed pregnant on it and I got a little excited haha it's just so nice to see that even tho im still cautiously optimistic
  • @dreamcometrue2017 congrats girl!!! That's a great beta!!!!
  • @slmurphy12 thank you!! I know what you mean about the hpts...I wasn't going to test until this past weekend then hubby pushed me to do a test last Wednesday, not really expecting anything. Well, that set off a daily test trend...but I took my last one today, a digital I've had for about a year...just waiting to be used. I think it was a sign that it expired August 2017....; ) right on time!

  • @Hopeful_mom I know, it's silly of me to even think about buying OPKs after being where we are at this point.  I just hear so many of "those" stories, even have read some on here, where a miracle happens and even after failed rounds of IVF and years of trying, people get PG naturally.  I guess I am always hoping to be one of those miracle stories.  I know what you mean about people who buy those expensive ones because they use them for one month and get PG haha.  I have a friend (her daughter is now 7) who tried with her ex husband to get PG for more than a year.  Then she finally decided to use an OPK and got PG instantly that month.  I said what the heck did you wait so long to use one for?  Haha, she said she just never thought to get one.  They had even started to go to my clinic (this was back before I ever went though) for help, but got PG naturally.

We did have a nice time, thank you.  DH and I dated for 2 years before getting engaged... Then we had a year long engagement.  Our plan was to try to get PG after two years of marriage, but I pushed it back a year (stupid me!).  I just wasn't ready yet... We had just bought a house that needed a lot of work and I was enjoying doing things just the two of us.  Naturally, I thought we'd get PG instantly and didn't want to deal with a baby when we had so many other balls up in the air that we were juggling.  I can even remember saying we'll probably not have it easy because I pushed our plan back a year... Normally I enjoy being right, but not this time!  Haha.  I'm so excited that you got your normie!  You are such a great cheerleader for everyone else on the boards, you more than deserve to get some good news of your own!

@cashewchicken It is nice to indulge in things when taking breaks!  I have been indulging in wine, haha.  I've also thrown myself back into working out the way I want to.  When on vacation, I took our laptop and workout DVDs with us so I either did one of those workouts, or I ran on the beach in the morning.  I am so disappointed in myself!  A year or two ago I could run 3 miles on that beach... This year, 1 had me struggling to breathe!  It is my fault though because I hadn't run outside in about a year (before my egg retrieval last summer).  I had been running on the treadmill, but outside running is so much harder.  I have decided I need to get back at it and yesterday ran outside in my neighborhood.  I did a mile and then walked some... And then ran a little more.  I have to start somewhere I guess!  I'm sorry about your sore bum... I hear ya though... There were definitely times I had random soreness that didn't happen other times, or only on certain sides like you said.  Oh the mysteries of IVF!  Lol.  I'm glad your transfer went well!

@dreamcometrue2017 Congrats on the beta!  That is a great number!  I hope you are relaxing a little... I feel like when a number is as good as that, it would surely help you to feel good about things (well as much as we ever can, right!)

@Ash_SE I'm glad you found a way to move forward that is easing your mind.  You are a warrior for sure to keep right on going!

I'm just waiting for my RE to call to discuss next steps.  Who knows when that will happen... I hate waiting.  I'm also nervous because I don't know what she will say.  I'm nervous she's going to kind of brush off what's been happening with the CPs and say we just need to keep trying... In the past she's always told us that she didn't see any likely issues and that she believed we have a baby in our bunch of embies.  I'm also nervous that she's going to brush off my concerns or questions as no big deal.  Again, I have no reason to believe this will definitely happen, this is just my nerves talking haha.  I should be cleaning or doing something productive to pass the time, but I'm not... I'm on the boards and watching Footloose lol.  The original of course, not the remake... There is only one Kevin Bacon!  Haha.

  • @joneser1281 thank you!! So happy you and hubby had a good time. You really need it! Take some time to decompress and take care of yourself and reconnect with hubby a bit. It's better to go forward(if that's what you decide) feeling better(as much as possible) mentally and physically. Sending you some good vibes!

I go for my next beta in the morning, fingers crossed for 1000+!

  • So I was able to meet with RE about my failed FET, and as expected, it really just came down to the fact that I fell on the unlucky side of the "chances"(i..e, there was a 60-65% chance of success with one embryo to transfer, even if everything (embryo & my insides) were perfect.) My RE doesn't think that it was an issue on my side, as my lining was 12 mm and I was treating my immune/thrombo issues, so it likely was an issue with the embryo. The plan is to start banking (3 retrievals) so that I have at least 2 normal embryos to work with, as my success of getting at least one THB would increase significantly. I'm overwhelmed by the thought of doing this all again (much less 3 times!), but my DH's advice was: think of this as your job -- just "do the work" and keep your eye on the prize. So I'm trying to think of it that way. At this point, I really don't know which process was harder: the ER or the FET. I thought that the FET would be easier, but those PIO shots just get SO OLD and the 2WW was awful. However, I plan to be a little more relaxed this next time (times!), as I was so meticulous about what I did/didn't do, and it still didn't work. I think that proves to me that there really is so little I can do to affect this process. He did say that we would do the ERA test for the next FET (he said only about 15% of women have an issue, so that is why they don't do it as a matter of course). I obviously thought about going to another RE (as anyone would when they get a disappointing outcome), but I guess the fact is that this was really my first real go at it, so another transfer with multiple embryos in the bank with an RE that knows how I respond (which is pretty well, for my age) seems like the right thing to do.  My next ER will likely be in late August/early Sept., but I'll be checking in on you all, as I just see so many positives here -- it give me HOPE, which I need:)  Good luck and baby dust to you all!!
    Me: 41; DH: 45
Both married for the first time in our 40s; went straight to IVF after multiple fibroid surgeries
    (2/17) ER: #1:  agonist/antagonist protocol: 19 eggs; 8 mature; 13 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
    (4/17) ER: #2: same protocol but stimmed an extra 2 days:  16 eggs; 10 mature (5 more matured in lab); 13 fertilized; 2 6-day blasts (5AA & 6BA) & 2 7-day blasts (6BA & 5BB):  only 1 Day 6 6BA tested normal!
    FET on 7/10/17
    Beta on 7/21/17:  Negative:(
    (8/17) ER #3:  9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery.  Done with IVF.

@cashewchicken - Congrats on being PUPO!

@joneser1281- I hope your RE calls soon and you don't have to wait much longer! Enjoy your wine and your workouts! Running on the beach sounds wonderful! I know how you feel about feeling out of shape- I have run a few half marathons but I don't think I can run a mile now without getting out of breath either. Don't be disappointed in yourself- you cut back on exercising for a good reason!

@angelbea - Glad you were able to meet with your RE and have a plan moving forward. I hope your next few retrievals go smoothly!

@angelbea - I was happy seeing your update and that you're ready to go.  I can speak first hand to what it feels like doing these back to back, I do feel like iVf is my full time job for sure, its not fun but it also starts to feel like a way of life if that even makes any sense.  The one thing I try to do is a couple of sessions of acupuncture while stemming, i'm not a fan BUT I'd like to think it helped bring me my normies.  I know at times you rather hear that there was an issue and this is what we are going to do to fix it...I'm learning that isn't always the case and need to be happy things are good and just move forward for our miracles!  You know I wanted to add about switching clinics...and as I even posted here I had a friend say I should do that AND I'm glad I've stuck it out here.  My RE is smart and I feel like we've been doing the right things....I pray I'm not wrong BUT I also just want to do this last one and move on and had no desire to start shopping around for one more cycle.  I think you're plan sounds great.

@joneser1281 I hope you'll have a good follow up with your RE and plan moving forward.  You have many great questions and very fair concerns that I'm sure will make sense to your RE.  Today was the least productive day, I say enjoy it.  Glad to hear wine night is in full effect and you're enjoying, u deserve it!  I wish I had your motivation for exercise right now, you're my hero!  I'n reading your update I swear I can't tell you how excited I was to start TTC.  It was a dream unprotected sex yes!!!  Who needed t waste money on condoms all these years, what a waste of money  :D I beat myself up all the time.  I dated someone for years in my 20's but I just didn't think it was right and sometimes I kick myself wishing I just wouldve left with a baby out of the relationship, he wasn't a bad guy is why I say that.  I waited for mr right and then you wonder is he really mr right cause of everything i'm going through.  My brain never turns off so I'm always second guessing everything.  My OH would like to know where the off button is.  UGH its frustrating this part of life.  I do hope one day we're going to be able to look back on this and laugh, have it just become a good story to tell!

@dreamcometrue2017 sending doubling vices for tomorrows beta!
