  • @aehogan90 what you looking at getting? I was doing online browsing of the redesigned vehicles for 2018 this morning.

  • @bumpybump we are looking at Honda pilots and Toyota Highlanders. Really as long as they have 7 seats, they are a consideration.

@aehogan90 we know we'll need a new SUV (or maybe van) in about a year when this LO goes in a convertible seat. I'm debating if we really need a third row though. Our challenge now is not enough room for us up front (too tall) with the RFing convertible seat behind. I feel like a third row would be folded down basically all the time. Oh the debates. Have fun deciding!

  • @aehogan90
I Love the Honda pilot! I have a CRV now, which I absolutely love, but it's tight with two carseats, and the double stroller barely fits in the trunk.  With me not working until November, we just can't swing the purchase now, but next summer the Pilot is definitely the top of the list. Everyone that has them LOVES them. Happy shopping!!

  • I can't get over how close these two look exterior wise. I know the Traverse got a redesign for 2018.

  •  I finally got my laptop back from a repair shop. The battery I needed was back ordered so it took almost a month! At least it seems to be working without having to be plugged in--huzzah!

  • @aehogan90 so exciting! I've never driven anything but Toyotas, but I've heard good things about the pilot as well!
  • So we found a Ford Explorer that we really like. Just trying to negotiate price. Some of the Pilots were just too expensive for the mileage. We will see what happens. I do not want to shop anymore in the Texas sun.

  • DH and I just bought a 2016 Nissan Rogue a year ago in May, and we would be completely upside down if we traded it in...so we'll be pretty squished for awhile.  My DD is still in a 5 point restraint.  Add in an infant car seat, and I'm extra grateful for my tall and skinny oldest boy...because he will have to sit in the middle.  Traveling won't be happening without renting a bigger vehicle, I don't think.
  • @aehogan90 good luck with negotiations. I'm personally a Ford fan and like the Explorers (I wouldn't mind a new 2018 Ford Expedition next year). But DH is such a Chevy guy and says Fords are a last resort (insert eye roll). It all goes back to stupid high school and all the guys had Chevys in his town. When we met, I drove a F150 and loved that thing. His buddies back home couldn't believe he'd marry a girl that drove a Ford.

  • DH kicked it in gear and set up the pack n play and stroller once he got home from his trip. I asked him to do the recall on the infant car seat clip and his response was, "well, driving with it not fixed once isn't a big deal, right?" Umm, excuse me? I'm not letting us travel with our child for any distance with a known safety issue on the car seat. That totally pissed me off. I worked in product safety for goodness sake! I know what goes into making a recall decision.

  • @aehogan90 Hope it works out! We've been a Ford family for years (my BIL works at the local plant, so we get his discount).

@tova24 I totally needed that adorable doggo pic today! Literally "awww"'ed out loud.

    Random questions:
    1. Those of you who received a car seat and/or stroller through your employer, was that from an employer-based program, or through insurance? I ordered a new car seat through an employer-based rewards program at DH's work, and there doesn't appear to be a charge. The receipt says $0.00. Odd. The other items I ordered where all listed as the correct price.

    2. Anyone used Zutanos booties before? I ordered a pair of 0-3mo & hoping they will work for the hospital as opposed to socks? Anyone have experience?
  • @PinkPrincessPiper I ordered our stroller through my work's 'sonic boom' incentive program and it
showed up as $0.00 on the receipt. But, it WAS free - was the car seat supposed to cost something?

Yes, it was supposed to be full price. I figured it out. Apparently the model I ordered was out of stock, so they zero'ed it out. I blame pregnancy brain! Got a different one ordered though. Thanks!

    @aehogan90 Congrats!

@aehogan90 I'm digging the new wheels!

Thanks everyone! We got the car! So excited!!! I've been driving a Ford Fusion for 10 years so I love Ford and am excited to continue driving another. My dad was pretty much the reason we could afford it since he negotiated $6k down from what it started at. Here's our "new to us" car!
I don't understand how people are able to haggle that well!! My husband and I high fived when I basically got us an extra $1k between trade and sale price  :D congrats on your new ride, and at a better price for you all. That's really awesome
  • @erindippity I never would have been able to do anything like that. It was completely intentional that I took my dad. DH and I nearly got ripped off a week before so I wasn't playing that game again. Dad has bought a lot of cars so he knew what they were doing. Thanks @tova24

  • UGH I have ringworm. And it's spreading. Any tricks other than OTC ointment?

My OB prescribed Clotrimazole 1% for it (I had a couple spots on my chest a few months ago). I couldn't believe it! Cleared up after only 2 applications.

edit it to correct drug name
  • @PinkPrincessPiper I've been using an antifungal cream and it's not doing it, but I just looked up Lotrimin and it's 1% clotrimazole so I'm gonna go get that!

Yes, lotrimin! Cleared it right up.
  • Another random question: I finally did the whole Amazon registry thing (only so I could get my free welcome baby box). I made a purchase off of it yesterday (over $10, so the box would ship). How long did it take for you to get your baby box? And what kind of goodies do you get?
  • @PinkPrincessPiper I want to say it took about a week? But don't quote me on that. I got lots of samples of lotions, a small diaper carrier thing (only one diaper fits), an Avent bottle, and a muslin swaddling blanket. I think there were lots of coupons too, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I'll admit it wasn't as exciting as I had hoped.

  • Once it shipped, a couple days. They were out of stock when I qualified. There was a swaddle blanket, various diaper samples (huggies, seventh generation, Pampers which came with a travel zip clutch), a full size thing of wipes , a bottle, two brands of nursing pads, sample of sunscreen, sample of lotion and bodywash. @PinkPrincessPiper
  • @PinkPrincessPiper I can't remember but it wasn't long before I got mine---I'd say within a week. I thought it was great! Full size muslin blanket, full pack of sensitive wipes, Pampers diapers and wipes sample in a carrying case, Avent bottle, a small rattle/toy helicopter, and lots of samples and coupons.

You can do the same thing for Target, I thought their welcome gift was great as well. Just have to pick it up in store. Honest diaper samples, Pampers samples, Dr browns bottle, samples and coupons.
  • Thanks! @mrsmatt1212 @brookedeyo @SpotConlon I definitely got my Target freebie bag early on, but the Amazon baby registry process was just crazy stupid, so I may have procrastinated just a little. :D
