Re: GTKY: Am I Normal? 6/18

  • Similar to @leeeahyo , apparently I smell everything before I eat or drink it. I don't notice it, but DH always says "don't smell it, just eat it" if he hands me something to try. haha He tried to trick me one time in the middle of the night. I asked him to bring me a pepsi, and he brought me a bud light instead. Fortunately, I'm weird and smell everything first. He wasn't happy because he thought it was about to be the best prank ever.

  • I do the song thing. And I nickname EVERYTHING. My dogs have eight or nine nicknames each, all of which they answer to. My dachshund (real name: Daltrey) is Fatty, Wiggles, McWiggles, Dollywog, Woggles, Dolly-Wolly McWiggles and so forth. My puppy (Burnie) is Burninator, Barnacle, Burnside, Burger, Mr. Burns, and (when he's gross) Stinky Pee-tail. Those poor dogs know and answer to all those crazy names!
  • @auntieraindrop LOL I have a bunch of nicknames for DD. I can't help it. She goes by Eva, Eva Jane, Muffin, Muffin Jane, Nugget, etc.

I wear socks or slippers around the house if I know I'll be stepping into the kitchen, bathroom, etc where there is tile. If I know I'm just staying the living room where it's carpeted I'll go barefoot. The thought of getting the bottoms of my feet dirty from the floor grosses me out even though I regularly sweep/vacuum. You can't get everything up. And I shower at night so I'm clean before I get in bed-also something that grosses me out lol. I also have a no shoes on in the house policy

ETA: before we bought our house we looked at a home that had zero carpet- all hardwood floors. My husband wanted it but I knew I'd have to sweep everyday or I would probably gag

  • @auntieraindrop my dachshund also has a million nick names! He answers to them all
  • Apparently, I'm not weird. I'm just part of the crazy cat lady crew @livingoffpbjs @gilsam1 @madcouplewithabox ! LOL!

  • I hate hate HATE the sound and feeling of ice being scraped. For instance, I can NOT bare getting ice out of an ice cube tray. And I LOATH getting anything out of my deep freeze because it inevitably scrapes against the frost on the side of the freezer. It makes my stomach lurch and I gag. Ice skating is debatable.

I also am am the only person in my generation that does NOT like Bob Marley's music. At all.

I don't know which generation you're in, but you're NOT the only one who doesn't like Bob Marley...
  • Late to this thread, but I peel my food...things that don't even have peels. For example, if I eat chicken nuggets, I peel the breaded part off and eat it first. Or, any type of bread, I peel the outer crust off first. I also peel grapes as I eat them, the brown part off a soft pretzel, and the list goes on. My husband thinks I'm the weirdest eater, but ALL of my siblings do the same thing, so I didn't think it was weird until DH pointed it out.
  • @cyanope I don't peel all of the foods you mentioned but I do peel grapes with my teeth as I eat them.
  • ME TOOOOOOOO!! @gusgus14
  • @Mudge85 I super love MFM. It makes me feel ok about my fascination with true crime. When someone dies I have to know why.

As for food - I eat the outside first too! And BF thinks it's super weird. Like all candy bars, I'll eat the chocolate on the outside and then I eat the inside in layers. If I eat a sandwich I'll separate all the ingredients and eat them that way.

Does it make me weird that I'm super obsessed with Christmas right now? Like have pine Christmas candles burning in the house and watching Christmas movies? My theory is im subconsciously doing this because the babe will be here near that time and I'm tricking myself into thinking its soon.
  • @koennia1217 - I'm pretty much always down for anything Christmas related. Next month we're going to the Yankee Village flagship in Massachusetts and they have a year round Christmas village. It's pretty much my favorite place ever!
