My previous midwives recommended the Spinning Babies website for breech and sunny side up babies, and some exercises there to try and help flip them. No personal experience, as DS1 wasn't breech, and I didn't find out he was sunny side up until his head was too engaged to do much about it. *I still recommend talking about it with your OB or MW before actually trying anything, though.

Squats, squats and more squats! It will help loosen your hips so there is more space for baby to turn.

One of my babes was breech and I didn't try anything, but she decided to flip head down around 37 weeks. So if your baby is breech now there's definitely still time for her to flip on her own!

Breech and just waiting to see if she flips at some point on her own. I guess I have a narrow pelvis so the dr said they would have to plan on c-section if she doesn't flip. But the good thing is I am being monitored a bunch so we should know her position along the way to be prepared.

Spinning babies exercises. Usually they have you do an inversion and then exercises that help encourage the baby to move head down. You can also wrap your belly. Most of all, it is recommended that you not recline at this point in your pregnancy. You want to sit with a neutral spin or with your belly button pointing forward/down, never up.

Btw, I have read that squating is not a good idea when baby is breech, because it can encourage baby to drop into birthing position. You would want to wait until baby has flipped.

Spinning babies also has some great exercises that in general just relieve any pressure/discomfort you might be feeling right now and that are helpful for managing pain during labor. My favorite is this one where you are on all fours, table top style or with your head and arms rested on an exercise ball/chair, and your partner wraps a cloth around your belly and then gently pulls up and massages it side to side. It was heaven on my back toward the end.

Breech, being induced at either 37 or 38 weeks. I'm worried that she won't turn by herself by the time we induce. Dr said she will attempt to manually turn her... what does this mean besides me crying in pain

Also besides squatting and other exercises you can have the chiropractor help. I am not sure exactly what they do but I heard that have some type of technique. Also, try to take up prenatal yoga a few times a week.

STMs- did you ever notice a point when you knew baby had turned? Or did you just go in one week and were pleasantly surprised baby was head down? I keep wondering if I should be able to feel her turn.

FTM here, but my LO was breech/transverse until last week's 34 week ultrasound. I never felt them turn and was actually convinced they were still in the wrong position. I feel movement, but I can't tell what's feet/legs/body/head/etc, so I'm always unsure.

@Sugargirl1019 I am positive I felt this baby turn. She is baby #3 for me though. I'm also being told she is big so that may have something to do with it to. Her brother wasn't small so this not a surprise. But I can definitely feel Sooooooo much more with her. I know where her butt is, foot, hand ect. Lol

@Sugargirl1019 LO was breech last week at my 32w u/s, and after I mentioned it to the MW yesterday, she checked again- he is now head down. I never felt anything obvious that showed he turned. I know he was head down the week before the u/s because I felt him hiccuping in my pelvis, way down low. The same thing happened between the u/s and my appt yesterday, I felt him hiccuping low again. They still have some time at this point, before you really need to worry about them being head down.

I felt my first baby do a complete flip into head down position. He was more of a kicker than mover, so it was very distinct. This baby is all over the place and changes his position often, so I have no idea his orientation and he may wait to get head down until the very end. Have you tried any belly mapping? It may help you keep track of baby's position and any movement.

Thanks guys! I'm hopeful because I feel kicks in completely different places now, but then I'm like wait is this her head again right here under my stomach? or is it her butt.. sometimes i think shes transverse now. 34 weeks and ultrasound on Friday!

@Sugargirl1019 I could tell when our LO turned head down. I could feel her turning when she finally moved. Plus the kicks were in different places, and I could feel her head putting a lot of pressure down low.

Interestingly when I met my dr 2 weeks we got talking about breech babies and he asked where I was feeling kicks/movement...and I said deep in my pelvis. He turned to the intern and said that you will find almost all breech mom's will say they feel the baby in their pelvis where if you ask moms that have babies in other positions they will say the baby moves everywhere (or more so at least). Not sure how true any of that is...but thought it was interesting.

@BecauseLove Mine has been frank breech forever and ever... so I had kicks up high near my ribs near her head. She just wants to trick me.

I just wanted to update after my scan today - baby girl is head down!

I was suspicious of her turning one night when she was CRAZY active about a week ago. I swear she was swimming and spinning. My belly has never moved so much. After that I started feeling painful kicks in a few different areas, mostly my upper right quadrant. Someone told me that once baby turns, the kicks get more painful. Anyone else agree with that? I definitely agree with that in my experience.

Ever since she turned, my back pain/hip pain has decreased a lot. I even worked two shifts without my belly/back support band because I was feeling so good.

Here's to our babies turning on their own!

My little one has been breech but as of my last growth scan last week I found out he is now transverse.

It definitely makes sense of the intense pelvic pain I have been having. He is just hanging in the like a hammock and goes from low low low, to "holy ish I can't breathe" in my ribs. It's concerning to me at this point (33 weeks) because I do have a bicornuate uterus and I am worried he just won't have the space to turn. I have also had a tummy tuck 5 years ago not anticipating having any more kiddos so my belly is extremely tight and painful so, I am unsure if I will be able to handle any manual attempts at turning babe- if I am even eligible based on my uterine deformity- (I've gotten mixed messages from MFM vs OB on this).

@OmSweetOm my babe has been breech for a while now... I thought he may have flipped a couple of days ago, but if he did, I think he may be back in the breech position. Late next week at my 37 week apppointment I have an ultrasound scheduled to check on his positioning. I'm so hopeful he will be where he needs to be... I really don't want to try a version or get a c section.

I'm petrified for both. I really don't think I can mentally handle a c-section- and not bc I have some crazy birth plan just bc I'm squeamish AF and the thought of being awake and knowing my body is open..... I could honestly pass out even thinking about it.

But, devils advocate I'm also petrified for a vaginal birth too- it's been almost 10 years and for some reason I am 10,000x more upright and nervous about all of this then before. I just hope baby decides to turn. I may even take a turn for breech at this point just to get him the hell out of transverse! He's doing a real number on my pelvis.

Going into 36 weeks and I am so nervous this baby is breech. My DD was breech after low fluid around 39+ weeks and I don't really ever remember her flipping or feeling her flip. I am going to talk to my midwife tomorrow, just praying this little man decides to be head down... his brother was so it makes me feel like I have a 50/50 chance... Does that make sense to anyone?

Two days ago I felt hiccups low low down and was so sure that baby was no longer frank breech... then last night the little flipper was hiccuping in my ribcage. When will this stop?!? Going to the OB next week and planning to discuss options (chiropractor, acupuncture, etc). My nephew did this exact same thing- flipping around until his due date. He was perfectly in place for delivery, so there's hope!!

32 weeks and the ultrasound says still breech (frank)....guess we will see where she is at the next ultrasound.

I've been seeing a chiropractor for SPD and she's been doing the Webster technique to help realign my pelvic bone. The technique is also very successful in getting babies to turn that are breech (what it's most commonly used for). The technique loosens the ligaments so that the baby has more room, which will usually encourage them to turn.

Had my 37 week ultrasound today and baby is still breech (frank breech). I think I am going to try the ECV procedure, but keep having second thoughts... anyone have any experience with this?

No experience but I would do it if I was not high risk based on placental placement! I hope it works for you if you decide to go for it!

I found out at 35 weeks that baby is breech but wasn't told what kind. I had another ultrasound at 36 weeks this past Wednesday and she is still breech. We scheduled a c-section and we will check to see where she is positioned each week now. I'm not going to flip her, I was asked if I wanted to but I said no. If she wants to flip she will. I'm interested for my next appt to see what she is up to in there.

My babe is transverse and I am super torn on the ECV. I have a bicornuate uterus and most information I read say that it should not be performed on this variation of uterine abnormality (for risk of rupture) but, my MFM surprisingly is still willing to try it. I don't know how comfortable I feel with that kind of fear in the back of the mind- not to mention he only does them with epidural. I guess it helps because you aren't tensing up and resisting but, I'm not a real fan the of potentially having 2 epidurals so close together. It's definitely a tough choice to make- especially when nothing is guaranteed even if they do flip, doesn't mean they will stay put.

@OmSweetOm I have been really torn too, but think I have decided to go through with the ECV. I am not 100% confident in my decision, but I think I would regret not giving it a chance. I plan to let my dr know that I don't want to force it too much. If it seems like he won't move or is in any kind of distress I want to stop. So mine is scheduled for Monday morning. Good luck with your decision, it is certainly a difficult one!

I had an ecv with my first. It was not successful but I was glad I tried. It does not hurt and was barley even uncomfortable. If this baby (My 3rd) ends up breech I would try again.

@OmSweetOm I'm asking out of curiosity not prior knowledge or experience but why would they not do the EVC and then induce beforevthey had the chance to flip back. You'd only need one epi that way too.

Some doctors do that. It's not unheard of. Mine didn't mention that as an option. Also, I know my induction with my son lasted 46 hours. Very slow moving- And I was only able to get the epidural at about 36 hours in because most docs don't administer before a certain point in your progression so, I don't know if that would be a factor. Personally I would just assume lose my mind before I risked being confined to the bed for that length of time!
