Just an update... went in for the ecv this morning.  It was not successful and i had to stop them due to the pain.  They said he wasn't in the best position to turn as he is pretty much straight up and down with his bottom is lower in my pelvis.

Good luck to anyone else who attempts it and hopefully your babe is in a better position than mine so it is a smooth process.

@ellemnop90 I'm sorry baby didn't cooperate. Hopefully baby will decide after all that to try and turn on his own. Either way, hoping your baby arrives easily and healthy.

Thanks @Carebella I'm hoping he does and am going to continue all the tips and tricks I've been doing thus far to encourage him to.

My c section will likely be scheduled at the end of next week, so it gives him a little time to cooperate!

ellemnop90  Sorry to hear it didn't work and that it hurt  Ouch! What was your due date? I hope he decides to move or that you have any easy C section recovery.

@BecauseLove my due date is August 31st and my doctors usually schedule c sections for breech babies around 39 weeks to try to prevent emergency c sections

@ellemnop90 good luck.  If it helps I have a friend whose last two flipped on the way to hospital after contractions had started. So there is hope... they were super late flippers.

I haven't posted in months but here goes. My baby had been head down my entire pregnancy until my ultrasound this week at 36+3. She flipped sometime in the last week since our last ultrasound at 35 weeks. She is now frank breech and I'm kind of freaking out. This is baby number 4 and I'm scared to death of the thought of a c-section. What tips/tricks are you all using to encourage your babies to flip??? I have not seen my dr since the ultrasound so I have a huge list of questions for her tomorrow.

@jamiern01 There are plenty of things you can try, Webster technique at the chiropractor, acupuncture (moxibustion), positions from spinningbabies.com, an ECV if she doesn't turn on her own.  But you may need to get used to the idea of a c section.  I tried all of the above and my baby boy is still breech and I go in for a c section on Friday.  Is that the birth experience I wanted? No it's not, but a healthy baby and mama are the most important thing.

I hope your little one cooperates better than mine and you get the birth experience you wish for.

36+1, still breech, and two docs tried a total of 5 times to flip baby while a third doc supported and a midwife held the u/s on baby to make sure he was ok.....didn't work baby really wants to be bum down...he is apparently quite engaged in there.

BUT where I live, it's not an automatic "breech babies are safer to be born by c-section" because health care professionals are trained on other breech birthing techniques, so IF all the stars align then I can still have a vaginal birth. There is definitely a high chance of me having a scheduled 39 week c/s if any of the measurements and monitoring in the next 3 weeks aren't perfect or an unscheduled but non-emergency c/s if I go into spontaneous labour and anything seems out of place as I progress.

So, while I'd rather he be head down, I'm thankful for all the monitoring I'm able to get and the training my doctors have had so that we can make the best decision for how and when he'll get out.

My frank breech baby just got a set c-section date. We still have a few weeks on the off chance she turns but my Dr. doesn't predict it nor think it would stay if they turned her. I also have a narrow birth canal so that is an added element to this along with having GD. 

Side note...any suggestions of way to work with my doula at this point. She is very pro natural birth...totally understandable but at this point we are just going with our Dr's advice...how can we include her but not feel pressured?

@becauselove A doula can still be really beneficial for a cesarean. She can help educate you, help you develop a plan specific to that type of birth, if you're having a gentle cesarean she can be there with you supporting and talking you and SO through everything (assuming she has the surgical experience and knowledge to do so), and depending on what you contracted with her there's no reason she can't be there for post partum support in the same way that she would be for a natural birth. Also, it's entirely possible that you could go into labor naturally before your surgery, in which case having her there for support will be huge. Do you get the impression that she'll try to talk you out of the schedule cesarean or something? Because if that's the case I don't know that she's the right support person for you in general. A doula's whole job is to support and empower momma and there's no reason she can't do that in your situation. I think it's best to talk to her about your plan and ask her how she thinks she can still be supportive. If she poo poos the cesarean, then you might have your answer.

wannabeamongoose Thanks for the suggestions...I will touch base with her. I just looked through my surgical info and it says I am only allowed 1 person int he surgical unit with me and same for the 2 hours post surgery. So that seems like it modifies how she could help but I just thought even if she lends suggestions for breastfeeding that would be helpful.

Yesterday was the first time any of my doctors have mentioned our little guy being breeched. She said she's not 100% sure because his head and bum feel the same to her. His heartbeat has always been found below my belly button to the right. She said that means nothing. I'm anxious because I was really hoping to experience labor. I'm 36+4 today and I have to wait till next Thursday for my ultrasound.

Hey All...anyone still with a breech baby? Any word if you will be doing natural labor or c-sections? Have your Dr's mentioned anything about hip displasia? Have any of your Dr's mentioned not swaddling or swaddling methods for breech babies?

@becauselove yup, I still have a breech baby (38 weeks tomorrow) and after analyzing the measurements, the doc said it's unlikely that I'd have success trying to deliver vaginally so we're having a planned c-section at 38+5 on Tuesday.

I have a pre-op appt tomorrow and have a million questions to ask, and hip displasia is one of them! nothing to add for now.

Also odd question but did they tell you at what point you should come in for an emergency c-section (if needed)?

@becauselove we're doing a scheduled c/s tomorrow. So the only time I'd have had an "emergency c/s" would have been if labour started spontaneously before then, but even then it probably wouldn't be "emergency c/s" necessarily unless it took us forever to get to the hospital since complications usually don't come right on the onset of labour.  In terms of the hip displasia the doc didn't say anything other than "it's slightly more common with breech babies, even if delivered by c/s, but it's routine here to check all babies for hip alignment when they're 24 hours old" So not really any news on that front, I don't think.

Love love love @BigBadWolf12 we are still in the hospital (since Monday night emergency c section)...almost went home today but she ended up getting jaundice. How is everything going for you?

@becauselove things are going well they didnt find anything off about his hips. The only thing resulting from his breech position (other than requiring the cs itself) is we have to help him stretch his neck muscles by turning his head gently so his chin gets all the way to his left shoulder since he couldnt turn his head in the womb and he had it turned to the right the whole time, so he has a side preference for sure. it doesn't seem stiff though, and it's very easy to turn his head while burping or changing, etc so hopefully it will be a non-issue.

I hope your little girl gets rid of her jaundice soon!! That's good they caught it before you checked out so you werent moving back and forth.

 Hopefully you are settling in at home and all is going good. We got home this afternoon and are enjoying the fall colors and being back on our home space...getting use to having her here with us.
