Re: monday ticker change 7/17

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
20 weeks! Baby is as big as a banana / pint of [beer] / red Swingline stapler

    2) How are you feeling?

Super tired today and baby is sitting awkwardly on my left side, so a little uncomfortable, but overall I'm good!

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Baby boy!!! And yep, totally rocking my bump today.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Anatomy scan last Friday went super well, he was adorable and healthy. :)

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Big rant about my weird sense of smell today... this morning I almost chucked a bottle of OJ because I swore it smelled like a campfire. DH smelled it and said it's completely normal, no "smokiness" at all. Then this afternoon I swore I could smell Campbell's chicken noodle soup, but no one around me was eating anything. And I definitely smelled a nasty fart on my way down the hall, so that got stuck in my nose for a while. Boo-urns.

    6) GTKY: What are your favorite ways to stay cool in this summer heat?
Goodness, between my frigid office building and DH's obsession with A/C, I'm actually glad to escape out into the summer heat when I can! But when I'm actually overheated, I use it as an excuse to drink orange sherbet slammers from Friendly's... SO refreshing and core-temp-regulating!

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?  17weeks, a vintage wallet

    2) How are you feeling? Ok. the nausea seems to be gone. I'm still dealing with some fatigue but its way better than it was.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
    nope, team green. Yup

    4) Any appointments this week/last? I had a midwife check up last week and things looked fine, nothing till my anatomy scan in 3 weeks.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? We had friends over last night so the house got a deep clean. It really needed it but man am I exhausted. I do love a clean house though!

    6) GTKY: What are your favorite ways to stay cool in this summer heat? The pool... its delightful to take the twins swimming and have a chance to sit in the cool water. That or sit in the AC.

@djd0404 glad your anatomy scan went well. That orange sherbet slammers sounds AMAZING!! now I want one but we don't have a friendly's any where near here.

  • @wabash15 I love when the house is super-clean for company coming, I always promise myself I'm going to keep up with it, but it never happens.

In case you're interested, I saved a copycat recipe (they were originally called sherbet coolers back when I was a kid) since Friendly's locations have been closing down all around my state: https://truefoodmovement.com/orange-sherbet-cooler-recipe

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?  20w  banana (or PINT OF BEER, YES!)

    2) How are you feeling? still tired. i think that's going to stay forever. insomnia has started, so the combo is no good. heartburn is improved, though, and nausea seems to be mostly gone as long as i eat regularly. glad to feel more movements from LO lately!

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
nottttt yet. my A/S this morning got canceled for the second dang time. it's now thursday afternoon. if they move it again i might have to cut someone. and yes, showing to the max. pretty sure i have lingering undiagnosed diastasis recti that is making it "worse"

    4) Any appointments this week/last? had a regular OB appt last week that went fine, and impatiently awaiting my level 2 US at the MFM on thursday afternoon of this week if they don't cancel it a third time because of incomptency

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? ehhhh refer to last week's issues with DS. also, daycare is closed this week so my parents are watching him today and my inlaws the rest of the week. i am super grateful for the help but it definitely is stressful to have people at my house for 7 days straight, particularly my inlaws.

    6) GTKY: What are your favorite ways to stay cool in this summer heat? dude. i am generally a "warm" person that complains about summer heat and humidity. this time around, however, it's like i've leveled up to maximum boiling temperature. i am SO HOT, ALL THE TIME. i sweat just sitting in a/c. it's terrible. last time i was really hot weeks 4-8 and 36-41 but otherwise just a little warmer than normal. this time, at about week 16 it ramped up to crazy town. to answer your actual question, i like air conditioning, and ceiling fans (fans of all shapes), ice water, cold swimming pools, and days with lower humidity (those are hard to find)

  • @djd0404 I try but also fail to keep it clean. Thanks so much for the recipe!
@anewadventure sorry daycare is closed this week. I normally like summer time but I am ready for some cooler temps!

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 18 weeks. Size of an old Nintendo remote control or something lol

    2) How are you feeling? Not bad. Still a little anxious but feeling better. Nausea pops it's head in just every once in a while in the evenings. Sleep is getting more difficult, I'm a stomach sleeper and that just can't happen anymore

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Baby is a girl. And yes I have a little bump to the trained eye lol

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Nope none until my A/S on the 26th.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I just need to stop shopping. That's all

    6) GTKY: What are your favorite ways to stay cool in this summer heat?  I love ice cream and popsicles. Other than that just staying by the a/c
  • @djd0404 That sounds like heaven. I think I'll stop and the store on the way home and fetch those ingredients for sure.
@wabash15 my poor house needs a good deep clean for sure. DH and I started in on the laundry mountain this weekend and it has been exhausting but sooooo worth it!
@anewadventure oh my goodness I would be so mad! Hopefully they'll get their act together and Thursday will be your day.
@ngarciabyu The shopping struggle is real.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
20 weeks! Half way there!!! Babes is getting big! Daddy's little pint of Guinness.
    2) How are you feeling?
Much better. I think I've found the right mix of meds (1 pepsid ac and 1 colace every day + a tums or 2 when I need it) and timing my eating and I've been doing pretty well. I can drink water again without wanting to die from the heartburn! I'm pretty tired but I'm sleeping like crap so I guess that is par for the course and my veins aren't bugging me too much. I'm starting to be able to actually get things done on my days off instead of needing the extra rest to make up for being on my feet 7 hours a day 5 days a week. I think I'm starting to get those nesting feelings.
    3) Do you know the baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Babes is a little boy and mummy is getting pretty bumpalicious. Is anyone else noticing the change in center of gravity?
    4) Any appointments this week/last?
2! Tuesday I had a mini anatomy scan with my regular doctor but she had scheduled me to have my full scan on Thursday with the high risk specialist because they have the better tech and they wanted to check on the SCH and see if my placenta has moved up any which omg yay it has!! It is still a little too close to the cervix for comfort. (The tech made sure to tell me I have a really long cervix. I'm not sure if that is good or bad really but it is sure a weird thing to hear.)
    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
A friend of mine had her beautiful little boy last week and I got to meet him today and have a cuddle. He was so tiny and sweet and perfect that I cried and cried after she left because I just can't wait to meet my little Victor.
    6)GTKY:
It has been mercilessly hot here this week and my house is all giant windows so I live in an oven. I've done a lot of napping in the dark in the coolest rooms in the house with a fan on my face. I second whoever said popsicles and I am absolutely going to try this sherbet thing.

  • ) How far along are you? How big is baby? 18 weeks, baby is an artichoke

    2) How are you feeling? I've been having bouts of low blood sugar, which brings on headaches and nausea, so I've been focusing on small high protein meals every 2 hours... I've also noticed a lot of light headedness when moving around too fast, ie standing up, bending down, etc.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
We are still team green... everyone tells me they think I'm showing, I don't feel like it's bump, but rather just flub... I wish I had taken more pictures!!!

    4) Any appointments this week/last? A/S is 7/24

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? today is my best friend's due date... I'm feeling very anxious for her since she isn't dilater at all, and they are going to do an U/S and stress test tomorrow and decide whether to induce her or not... we're all excited to meet babygirl!
    6) GTKY: What are your favorite ways to stay cool in this summer heat? Cranking the A/C and freeze pops have been my saving grace in this heat! And lots of showers, because I always feel gross!!!
  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
    19weeks, mango!

    2) How are you feeling?
emotional, and oddly I have hot feet. Is that a thing?

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
girl, and yes! but I am carrying the same as DD, kind of wide, not like a cute basketball bump.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Had an appt. with my OB last Friday that went well--heard baby's heartbeat again! Always a thrill.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I have a summertime cold. So does DD. It sucks. She barely notices, but I am miserable. Hopefully all the ginger tea, chicken broth, and honey are doing their stuff in my body to get rid of this virus ASAP.

    6) GTKY: What are your favorite ways to stay cool in this summer heat?
I live in a moderate climate, so it's been about 70 degrees lately. But yesterday was pretty hot and we had to open all the windows to generate some breeze. Also, when I get hot feet I just put an ice pack straight on my feet. So relaxing.

  • I never seem to make it on Mondays.

) How far along are you? How big is baby?  18 weeks - artichoke

    2) How are you feeling? Great minus the exhaustion/anxiety (i'm off anxiety meds during pregnancy)

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
    Baby Boy - Definitely.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Ohio has made it required to do anatomy scans at 18 weeks now so I have mine on Thursday.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? My 2yo is going through some hellish summer sleep regression.  I'm about ready to send him away for a week so I can catch up on sleep.  He is jumping up and down and dancing around 10 pm.  It's really killing my house cleaning and sex life. Rave: DH took off two days last week to clean carpets and scrub walls.  He is pretty amazing sometimes.

    6) GTKY: What are your favorite ways to stay cool in this summer heat? Lately I've been crashing the kids swimming pool and making homemade popsicles.  Other than that just hanging out in the air. (I feel like such a bum when the kids want to go outside though)

  • @AFrye0726  i don't presume to intrude on your doctor / patient relationship but i just wanted to say that if your anxiety becomes overwhelming, very recent studies have shown no negative effects of many of those meds during pregnancy and you should consider your overall mental health in your decision making, especially since you have to function while you grow this baby. hugs.

  • @djd0404 Yay for a great anatomy scan!
@wabash15 I love a clean house too!  Unfortunately, I hate doing it because I feel like I never have the time and if I do have the time I'm too tired.
@anewadventure I feel you on being hot all the time!  My DS was an August baby and I don't remember being this hot and miserable when I was pregnant with him.  I'm counting down to fall!
@brittabatwhite Glad you're feeling better!  Hope your placenta keeps moving up!

1.) How far along are you? How big is baby? 19 weeks (+1) mango

    2) How are you feeling? Ok, lots of heartburn and hot all the time

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Girl! Yes, I definitely have a bump

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Nope, anatomy scan next Monday

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I feel like I should be feeling more movement at this point.  I can't remember what I felt with my son at this point in the pregnancy, but I hardly ever feel her and it's starting to make me worry How much movement are others feeling?

    6) GTKY: What are your favorite ways to stay cool in this summer heat? Stay inside in the AC? I've been so miserable outside lately, unless I'm in the pool. I just went for a walk and it wasn't even 70 yet and I'm dripping!  The high today is 92, I can't.

@djd0404 My husband likes to joke that my newfound intense sense of smell is my "Spidey Sense," lol. The smell of our city water has become so bothersome to me that we started buying water at the grocery store because I just can't. The recipe sounds delicious!
wabash15 cleaning is exhausting, but i just love the way my house feels after some elbow grease! I'm a teacher on summer break and I've been scrubbing walls for the last few weeks. I'm moving onto carpets soon and then we are going to tackle the baby's room - so excited!
anewadventure I'm sorry to hear that you're sonogram has been postponed twice - bummer! Fingers crossed that this week's appointment happens and is a good one. I feel you on being extra warm, especially at night!
@ngarciabyu I've never been much of a shopper, but this baby is bringing it out in me, too! My Amazon list just keeps growing and growing...
@brittabatwhite glad that you've found a combo that is making you feel better!
kdestito since we moved to South Florida, evening showers have become a must for me in the summer. It's just too humid not to!
    lavashiner Feel better soon!
    AFrye0726 go DH! That's awesome!

    1) How far along are you
? How big is baby? 19 weeks -- we're getting there, ladies!

    2) How are you feeling? Great! Still tired but allowing myself to indulge in naps because summer break ends soon and I'm sure I'll be exhausted when I'm back to school. Just started feeling the baby move and I'm finally starting to relax a bit.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Baby is a boy and definitely, yes.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Had a great A/S last Thursday and I go back in this Friday for a follow-up MFM appointment

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant and a Q- We have really been digging into the daycare research this week and had two tours of places that were fine. Just making the plans to drop him off makes me sad... anyway- In the one we saw yesterday, three of the four infants were sleeping on their bellies when we went into the room. They were bigger babies, but all under the age of 1. Would this be a deal breaker for you?

    6) GTKY: What are your favorite ways to stay cool in this summer heat? I've spent more of my summer vacation by myself at the beach than ever before -- I live really close and the realization that future summer vacations will be very different have motivated me to (literally) soak it up this summer :-)

  • @CandyApple2012 The one place we've toured so far said they use the safe sleep method and always place the babies on their backs with no blankets or objects, but once the baby is able to roll over on their own, they're allowed to sleep in whatever position they're comfortable. So I guess if those babies all happened to roll themselves over and sleep, that's okay? But maybe I'd pop in for a "second tour" of that place and see if it's the same situation? (I'm sure STM+ will probably have better answers for this question.)

  • actually @djd0404 that's exactly what i was going to say. as long as they put the babies down "back to sleep" and they are naturally rolling over themselves, i would have no issue with that.

  • @CandyApple2012 I would ask how they put the babies down... both of my twins were rolling over on to their stomachs on their own before 6 months ( I think DD started at 4 months) and that is how they slept no matter how many times I flipped them back they would go right to their stomach. so as long as there were not blankets in the cribs I think its fine.
@tigercakes I too hate cleaning but love the results. my midwife said by 20 weeks you should be feeling daily movement. At this point I feel something briefly most days but not all days and its usually only for less than a minute then nothing for the rest of the day. Do you have an anterior placenta? If so that may make it harder to feel movement.
