Re: August FET

  • I'm currently working from my first round of IVF. We retrieved 21 eggs, 19 mature, 14 fertilized via ICSI on May 9th.
I developed OHSS so I had my fresh transfer cancelled and we wound up with 5 frosties. Since then I've mostly been recovering and getting ready for this transfer!

  • Going to jump in here too. I was on the July FET board but just found out I've been pushed to probably an August 1st transfer date at the earliest. I'm blogging about it here

  • Hello girls!
Today is my first post and also my first ivf cycle. I have my transfer scheduled for August 17th.  DH and I have been trying for over a year now. We finished our fist egg retreival with 10 eggs retrieved, 7 mature, 5 fertilized, 3 made to blast and 1 tested normal.  We have one try but I am feeling good about it. However, I'm not excited about getting back on all the medicine. I had a hard couple of weeks following the retrieval, getting off all the hormones and starting BC again. I felt terribly depressed for some time. Now that I'm better, I'm not excited to start again and get myself ready for the transfer. I am hoping things will be better at the end because I will have a bfp. Fingers crossed. Did anyone else experience depression after stopping all the hormones?
  •   Welcome @amynico !

  • I am going to join here, hoping it will be good luck so I will have my next FET in August.  I have had three failed FETs so far (January, February and May) and before proceeding to the fourth which was scheduled in June decided to have the ERA biopsy completed.  My RE felt strongly that perhaps the failures were related to an implantation problem and suggested we complete the ERA.  Originally I had decided to complete the fourth transfer with our final embryo, hope for the best and if it failed would do an ERA.  But after doing some research and speaking with a few ladies who had it done and found success the very next cycle I decided to go forward with that first.  I had the biopsy on June 12th and just got the results today.  Interestingly, I am "2+ days pre-receptive" which my RE translated as they are suggesting you need at least two more full days of progesterone, but this is only a guess.  For the first cycle, my RE had me on PIO, but after two days or horror she changed me to Crinone per my request.  Their office does FET after four days of Crinone as opposed to five days of PIO, so she concludes from this test that my body just does not absorb Crinone appropriately.  Unfortunately, this requires another cycle for ERA test, this time with six days of PIO.  She is hopeful that this will result in either a Receptive result or a Pre or Post-receptive with one additional day needed.  She said their office has done hundreds of these tests and I am the first one to have such an unclear outcome with at least 2 more days of progesterone needed.  I guess the silver lining in all this is that perhaps we have finally found a reason for our repeated failed transfers.  Sorry for the lengthy story, but hopefully if everything goes as planned we will have our next FET in August.  Fingers crossed it will be a month of BFP's all around!
  • @Dragonfly6191 we have the same expected transfer date!!!!!

  • Got my box of drugs today!
  • @aligoodmorning1 nice! It's always exciting to get this and know you're starting soon!

Why were you cancelled last time? I'm so sorry that happened, must have been so frustrating to waist time and money on medication.
  • @amynico I'm also doing medicated. Started Lupron yesterday...

    ***TW****
i had a m/c of a normal embryo back in March. And since we didn't find the cause I asked my dr to do a biopsy of the uterine lining since I heard you can have an infection there that could cause m/c. The dr was so sure that everything would be ok that we started prepping for FET and then did the biopsy. 2 weeks later we found out that I had leftover embryo tissues. So we had to stop everything and I had to have hysteroscopy... then I was put on 2 weeks of antibiotics to make sure that I also didn't have any infection... last antibiotics was on Wed and first Lupron injection was on Thurs...

  • @Prudence9 does the Lupron make you feel crazy? I always have terrible hot flashes and mood swings on these drugs. Makes me so so crazy.
  • @aligoodmorning1 don't think it's making me feel crazy but I hate the injection. The needle is so tiny that I have to fight to get it in. And then it burns when I inject and I usually have a rush afterwards. Ahhh.

Do you stop drinking alcohol while on Lupron?

I hate that tiny needle too!! Gotta really push to make it go in.
  • @aligoodmorning1 yeah, that damn needle! And then Lupron also burns when it goes in....

i started Lupron on Thurs. haven't drank since I started. But I think that until the transfer it's ok to drink here and there. So I might drink in the next 4 weeks. As for coffee, I lowered my coffee consumption over a year ago when I started trying again. I'm now down to two cups a day. But after the transfer will go down to one.

  • HI everyone! Joining this thread as I hopefully will push through with FET scheduled for August 18th.

First time trying IVF, cause was probably my severe endometriosis
Had my stim June, ended up retrieving 21 eggs, 19 mature, 17 fertilized and 9 made it to blastocyst stage. 7 frosties after CCS

Scheduled originally for FET 18th of august; on hysteroscopy though, they found some polyps so I'm undergoing a D and C polypectomy next week. Doc said probably wont delay things so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Will be starting Lupron next week.

    Good luck to ALL :)
  • @junesand welcome! Hope you will recover from the D&C and be able to have the FET in August!

I started Lupron 1.5 weeks ago... baseline appt tomorrow! FX I get the OK to continue!

@junesand good luck! I had one of those done before stims. My FET is scheduled for August 17th. We're right on track with each other. We got 8 embryos all tested. Hopefully you are doing okay with the wait. Seems like it's forever away.
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.

  • I'm new to this site but looking for other women who are going through similar situations. I have great friends and family but they don't quite understand.

I did my first round of IVF in June. Because of high progesterone levels and moderate OHSS my transfer was canceled. 27 eggs were reteiveve and 7 made it to day 5 freezing. I started estrogen pills and patches Friday and am tentatively scheduled for my FET on 8/10.
  • Welcome @jfeeney06

seems like our transfers are very close. I'm having it done on the week of August 7th.

Hi ladies! I'm moving over here at a failed July FET . It may be a September FET depending on timeline but wanted to join .
  • @Ash_SE welcome. So sorry to hear you had a failed transfer. Are you doing another retrieval or using already frozen?

@holls214 I'll be doing another frozen. I have 4 PGS left. I'll push to transfer 2 this time. If that doesn't work, I'll do another Fresh ER before the end of the year when I lose my insurance. I may actually do it first and get it done. I haven't decided yet.
  • @Ash_SE sorry to hear about your failed July FET! I hope this next round has better results.

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies. A close transfer date is awesome @Prudence9. We can impatiently wait for our results together!
  • Hi @Ash_SE and welcome here! And again, so sorry about your failed transfer!!

Hope August/September will be our lucky months!!!

  • @Ash_SE that's great that you have 4! I'm so envious of your insurance... maybe it would be a good idea to do a fresh one if it's covered, but I guess the nice thing about the frozen is that it's really not too expensive in relative terms. Ours was $15,000+ for ER. Then $2500+ for FET. Sad to think that $2500 is cheap haha. Argh.

@holls214 I hear ya about insurance. Luckily I live in MD that has the mandate so I as able to buy a policy direct from BCBS that will pay for meds and ER/FET after I meet the deductible. The policy is $525 a month but in the end worth it obviously.
  • @Ash_SE that's awesome! Wish Oregon would follow suit. Nothing fertility related is covered here really even our IUI's weren't covered.

  • My company provides fertility coverage through our insurance however my clinic is being a royal pain with shady billing. I think it's about time I change clinics but I wouldn't even know where to start, plus I'm already driving 1.5 hours and the next closest clinic is 4 hours away. Blegh. Why can't any of this be easy?!

Hi everyone! I am no stranger to these boards however i have been off for a while. I have done 1 round of IVF which resulted in 6 frozen embryos, we did not have any genetic testing done. First transfer with 1 embryo resulted in identical twins, missed miscarriage at 8.5 wks, 2nd transfer resulted in CP, and
3rd transfer with 1 embryo resulted in missed miscarriage at 9.5 weeks, had the fetal tissue tested and was a normal male embryo. Ive had every test imaginable done and all have been normal, all my labs are normal and no issues with implantation. We are moving forward with transfering our two remaining embryos, ( we had one other not survive the thaw) and hope for the best and if things progress the same way we will move forward with another ER and this time around have PGS testing done. My protocol is shorter this time around, i had my baseline blood work today, have baseline ultrasound tomorrow and start estrace, transfer is scheduled for Aug, 7th. I am very hopeful this time will be different but i am afraid of going through yet another heartbreak.
