Re: August FET

  • Welcome @kjplaza and sorry about all your losses! Hope this cycle will end differently!

It's so frustrating knowing that you had a m/c of a normal embryo and you don't know what was wrong!  I also had a m/c of a normal embryo and done some tests but they all came back normal.

My transfer is the week of Aug 7th, so I might have the transfer same day as you!

Hey there! I have been thinking about joining here for a while (was active on June and July for a bit...) but finally have the courage to post cause i had my baseline today and this time i was approved to start!!! I did a fresh in April, FET in May, then I was supposed to do another in June but my period didnt "work" so my hormones were off an my lining was too thick, then i didn't get a period when i was supposed to in July so after a few weeks they finally put me on something to induce a period so i was pretty nervous that I'd just keep getting bumped but i am officially approved with a tentative transfer date of August 9th!

I'm excited to get to know you guys a bit and follow each other's stories. Good luck ladies!

  • I can't even imagine not having fertility insurance coverage. I feel so thankful to live in MA where it's mandated. I don't even think fertility treatment would be a financial reality if not!! It needs to be mandated everywhere!!!

@kjplaza I'm so sorry to hear about all your headache. Sending positive thoughts your way for this cycle!
  • Hi @nmtay are you doing a medicated or non medicated FET?

wow @jfeeney06 that's amazing! Is it full coverage? Do they have any limits? Or can you try as many times as you want?

  • @nmtay welcome! How many do you plan to transfer? Where is everybody from on here? I'm from Portland, Oregon. Our fertility coverage is a joke and doesn't cover anything infertility related. I think one or two girls in my local Resolve group have coverage through private insurance.
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.
  • @Prudence9 other than my deductible they cover everything. I have to pay copays for dr visits and meds. I have 5 lifetime rounds of IVF that I can do. I can do unlimited rounds of IUI. There are some exceptions. I'm learning as I go.
  • @jfeeney06 wow! That's pretty amazing! I lived in Boston for almost 10 years...

what is a round? Say you do IVF but can't do fresh transfer. Would the following FET count as a new round?

  • @Prudence9 well that's exactly where I'm at right now. I did a round of IVF but couldn't do the transfer. It seems that a round counts when they transfer a fertilized egg. They mailed me info but the language didn't make sense. When I called and asked them if my canceled round counted as an attempt they told me no. I guess if my FET is canceled for some reason I would have to inquire again. I feel horribly for all of the couples who pay out of pocket. I don't know how they do it!!!

@jfeeney06 that's great! That's how it should be! If you can't do fresh transfer, then the following FET should count as the same cycle! Glad they are reasonable.

I work for one of the big tech companies. And I thought I'd have good benefits. Basically they give us up to $20k of lifetime infertility. Which is BS. because when clinics charge a person, they might charge $15k+ for an IVF cycle. But they charge the insurance for more than twice that!! So when I did IVF, I just paid OOP...  (oh and that is without meds! Meds via the insurance was about $10k for IVF and self pay was about half...

it all gets soooo expensive!!! :(

  • Hi! I'm new to the board and have FET #2 scheduled (for the third time) for August 14th! First the transfer was cancelled because my prolactin was elevated.  On the second try, I had to stay on Estrace for an extra week to thicken my uterine lining, and I ovulated.  This time around, my doctor has me on Lupron to keep that from happening again.  I'm only 5 days in with the injections, and I'm not really sure what to expect...especially since the words "induced menopausal state" have come up in my Google searches!!!

  • Welcome @brelizhan this is also my second FET and mine was also cancelled before.

Seems like you're about a week after me. I started the Lupron injections 16 days ago...

are you going to transfer 1 or 2 embryos?

    @Prudence9 Transferring 1, a 4AB.

Any side effects with the Lupron? I've never taken in consistently like this, just for triggers for IUI and IVF.  I've just had some cramping over the past few days.

  • @brelizhan I used Lupron in the past and had no side effects. This time around I had a constant headaches. Luckily on Tuesday, I started with the patches. And once I started, headaches went away.

Are you also suppose to have patches? (Or estrogen pills?)

  • @Prudence9 I have my baseline ultrasound Wednesday, and I should start Estrace pills the next day.  For my FET#1 and the past two tries at FET#2, I took 4mg for a week then increased the dosage to 6mg.

Did you have a period while on lupron?  Every time I have to get off BC for anything IVF-related, I start my period 4-5 days later. I'm like clockwork.  I've never incorporated lupron into the protocol, so I don't know if I should expect one.  I have been cramping for the past few days though; not sure if it's my period or the medicine causing them.
    www.southernfriedovaries.wordpress.com
  • @brelizhan I started Lupron while I was on BCP. Then, few days later, stopped BCP, got the period 3 days later. And during that time kept taking Lupron...

  • @brelizhan good luck with your second attempt! Routing for you this time around.
  • Super frustrated today. For the past two months we've been agonizing over the decision to transfer 1 or 2 for my scheduled August 1 FET. Yesterday we finally decided to transfer 2, only to have the rug pulled out from under me today.

I had a hysteroscopy on May 15th and they found Polypoids- Apparently a cluster of Polyps. They were removed and benign, and my nurse thought this would really increase my chances of implantation.

Today I went in for my lining check and they see something they are concerned is another polyp. My nurse said this would be extremely rare for a polyp to have returned this quickly, but it's possible. My baseline scan looked perfect. They are hoping it's just some sort of mucus that will resolve on it's own- I go back in on Thursday to find out if that happened or if we have to cancel this cycle.

Beyond the fear of the cycle being cancelled, if my polyps are returning THIS quickly, I'm really concerned about what this means for my chances in general   :(

    1st cycle of IVF started April 9, 2017. ER- 15R, 7M, 5F, 4 frozen, 1 transferred. BFN

    May 2017- Hysteroscopy

June-August 2017- 2nd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 08/10/17. BFP, but ended in a chemical.

    November 2017- Hysteroscopy

    January 2018- 3rd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 01/25/18. BOLD BFP on a HPT on 1/31, Beta # 1 on 2/5= 721. Beta # 2 on 2/7- 1903. 6wk+3 day scan revealed twins!

    I'm blogging about it here

I'm back. I want to hang here this month even though we aren't doing a FET. I'm going to do a Times Intercourse cycle with Gonal F and immune treatment of prednisone and Lovenox and then PIO after Ovulation. They will monitor it and I also will use a Clear Blue monitor. We are using Gonal Because my ovary that still has a tube (lost one because of ectopic) isn't my dominant one. However in IVF it contributed equally and worked fine.

Ill be honest FET wasn't for me process wise and I think I want to give more Natural a few more chances since Implantatiom is my main issue. IVF with PGS has showed me egg quality and normality isn't my problem.
  • @Ash_SE I'm thinking we might do the same if our FET doesn't work in August or try 2 FET before taking a break from IVF.  I think implantation is also our issue because the eggs are fine after ER and the semen is okay. Hopefully it will work for you!

@Ash_SE glad to see you here! Hope the TI will work for you!!!

So I have a TMI question...

I've been on Lupron for over 3 weeks now. And on estrogen patches for about 1.5 weeks.

Lupron suppose to prevent ovulation. And so I wasn't expecting to see TMI white vaginal discharge... am I about to ovulate? Or is it just because of the estrogen?

  • @Prudence9 I can somewhat understand where you're coming from in your nervousness. I started this FET cycle 15 days into my cycle. All of my cycles have been very long and when they did bloodwork they said my levels were low enough to start right away instead of waiting for another period. The last time we did this was on an IUI cycle that was canceled because it just went to horribly. Moral of the long story is that I'm afraid something isn't going to work out for my cycle as well and it'll be canceled. Trying to stay calm but I'm pretty anxious for my bloodwork and ultrasound in a week.

Anyways about your discharge, I too am having that. I'm not on Lupron, just the estrogen pills and patches. Discharge is usually how I can tell I'm starting the process of ovulating. It's been making me freak so I've taken a couple of ovulation at home tests and they've been clearly negative. I'm thinking maybe it could be the estrogen but I have no idea! Can't wait to hear your results Monday. Please let us know!
  • @jfeeney06 I spoke to a nurse at my clinic today and she said it is probably from the estrogen patches so I'm hoping she's right!!!

my last cycle was cancelled. And I had to wait 2 months! I don't want to wait any longer!!!

  • @Prudence9 that's great info about he estrogen patches! You had to wait two months?! Ugh I feel like this whole infertility process is always hurry up and wait. The waiting part kills me!!
  • Transfer is on the first. I started PIO on the 27th. It's awful and I hate it. I dread doing it. Plus the estradiol shots every third day, my poor booty hurts.
  • @jfeeney06 yeah my transfer was suppose to be the week of June 12th and now it is suppose to be the week of August 7th. Half way thru my FET prep they found out I have **TW** remains of an embryo from my m/c and so had to have hysteroscopy and then 2 weeks antibiotics **end TW** so here I am after all that... but until they give me the thumbs up on Monday I'm going to worry this cycle will also get cancelled :(

@aligoodmorning1 with PIO I found that some places hurt more when you inject. For me injecting a little bit higher was better (still in the area you are suppose to inject though) where are the estradiol shots? Instead of these shots I put on patches. Damn, I hate those patches. If you put them in he wrong place you feel uncomfortable for the next 3 days when wearing pants. Ahhh.

    Update on me:

So in order not to "waste" the improved egg quality after several weeks of Neupogen in my Failed FET, I'm doing Timed Intercourse with Gonal F and immune protocol and Lovenox this cycle. I have on CD 7 a 15 and a 14 and several 10s on my right ovary ( where I have my 1 Fallopian tube)!!!! This is so exciting. Tried this 6 times prior to IVF and only got an ok follicle on my right 1 time and wasn't on any other immune meds or Lovenox. Maybe this will be our miracle cycle:) I also started Metformin 3 days ago and feel fine! My luck may be turning.

My estrogen was 171 and my LH was 5.8. I go back on Monday.
  • @Ash_SE yay! Hoping this will be the cycle for you.
  • @Ash_SE FX this is your cycle!!!
