I took my 16 month old to the playground and went down the slide with her. It wasn't long at all but had two humps..I didn't think about it until afterwards but possible harm to the baby in the belly??

let me know if there is a thread that I should be posting this in!

TIA ladies!!

  • Your LO is tucked in your pelvis right now, so you should rest assured all is well! Enjoy those moments; they pass so quickly!!!

  • Omg I did the SAME thing today with my 19 month old. I think we're fine at this stage because the uterus is still tucked behind the pelvis, but we probably shouldn't make a habit of it. I also think water slides are more dangerous because of the force you hit the water with when you land. Since you don't really "land" on a regular slide that's more reassuring.

  • @Elizabella85 haha I mostly definitely will not be doing it again! I'm going to be thinking about it for days! But you ladies have for sure helped ease the anxiety a whole lot!  It didn't look that bad but when I went down I realized that it was bumpier than I thought

  • You're fine! I've done this (slides with bumps) so many times already this pregnancy. My 22 month old bounces on my belly (I keep her mostly on my pelvis) and I don't worry about it- the babies are behind the pelvic bone right now, very safe.

Got a mani/pedi yesterday. I did it without even thinking. YIKES!!! Isn't that a huge "no, no"?  I think your "without thinking" is not quite as bad as mine.  :/
  • ^ this! You can slide but don't do it with your kid!!! I saw it happen on a play date, my then barely 3 yr olds friend broke his leg. It's super easy and common injury!

  • @fullofhope25 I think the nono is the fumes in a poorly ventilated salon, right?
  • Just to clarify, I slide down behind my toddler not with her directly on my lap. She's in a clingy phase again and likes to hold my hand a lot on the playground.  She likes me very close, but she's getting too heavy to sit on my lap so I just follow.

One time at a church picnic (back when I was in college) a dad slide down with his 1 year old on his lap and the baby's ankle twisted. Turned out that it didn't break, but it was a bad sprain and very bruised because the slide on it (curly slide). Poor baby cried so much, it definitely made me never ever want to slide with my DD on my lap.

    Definitely don't do it mama's!

I'm actually reading up on it as we speak. It looks you are right!
  • @fullofhope25 I wouldn't worry about getting your nails done. It should be fine.  Now if you worked in a poorly ventilated salon and were constantly exposed to chemicals or whatever, that might be an issue I guess. Once in a while having your nails done is no big deal

If it makes you feel better I went on the bumper cars while pregnant with our first (not knowing I was pregnant yet). He is a bright and witty boy. :) You're ok!

ETA: because remembering the other parenthesis is hard. Can I blame it on being pregnant?  :D
  • I got my nails done every 2 weeks with my first born and she is fine. I think its more for people who are around it constantly.

  • I went on an Olympic Bobsleeding track at 4 weeks. I panicked after which led to my husband googling pregnant Olympic atheletes. I don't know what a playground slide would do - I wouldn't even think twice.

@fullofhope25, I wouldn't be worried about a mani/pedi. I worked in a salon while pregnant with both of my kiddos. And I got my nails done every 2 to 3 weeks.
Thanks! Did you get a mani/pedi or gel?
  • You're fine. Think about it, how many pregnant women do you think hit pot holes?
    Seriously, excellent point.

I actually did a lot of acrylics with my daughter. With my son, I mainly did gel overlays.

    Got it, thanks!
  • As far as pedicures go, I was reading that feet massages can cause miscarriages. Has anyone else heard this? My boss is treating my office to mani/pedis this weekend and now I'm a little worried. Something about pressure points on feet? Should I tell my pedicurist that I'm pregnant?
