I'm sure as more people get their BFPs and find a home in this board, we're going to get allll of these questions a lot. Maybe it will be nice to have a bunch of answers in one place. Probably not but I'm trying to be hopeful.
So. Has it hit? When do you struggle with it most? What have you found to help calm it even if it's just a few moments of relief?
Edited to add: I know we have a symptom thread - I was more so thinking about new members who might come and post questions just about ms before introducing themselves and getting acquainted with the board.
Zofran. It's my answer everytime lol. Diclegis is out there now. You can buy the active ingredients separately if insurance won't cover it. I know it works for some people. I always start with the nausea and vomiting at five weeks and it doesn't stop. Zofran can cause headaches and constipation, which aren't side effects of Diclegis. It can cause drowsiness. If the nausea isn't terrible then ginger and a bland diet might help There's my two cents lol. I think the N/V and constipation are the worst parts of pregnancy. Oh, and not being able to take ibuprofen.
I'm just curious when it will start! I'm 5 weeks 5 days now and feeling fine, but I'd actually like to have some symptoms so I know everything is progressing normally. Anyone know when I should expect it to kick in?
@hojo2018 everyone is different, some people are lucky enough to not have morning sickness! with my first I didn't get it until 8 weeks, with this one I'm feeling it now at 5. If you don't get it try not worry that something is wrong, you're lucky that you skipped this symptom
@hojo2018 with my first it was everyday, all day, from week 5 until birth. My second I had none. This one, it has started, but only when I first wake up. It is so different for every person, and even every pregnancy. Eat everything while you feel great haha!
So happy to be feeling ok...With my first, I felt miserable from the beginning. Feeling ok now or maybe I'm just able to keep in front of it with exercise, water and frequent snacking.
I haven't had morning sickness at all with my first or with this baby. I have had days here and there where I feel just a little bit nauseous but that's the extent of it. My mom never had morning sickness with any of her pregnancies either.
TTC #1 Since April 2014
Me: 27 | DH: 31
08/2006 - Laparoscopy/Stage 1 Endo
10/2014 - Bloodwork normal, HSG all clear
10/2014 - DH's SA 15mil/mL, 35% motility, 6% morphology
I didn't get it until 7 weeks with my first, and with this one I'm getting some of the familiar feelings in the morning on an empty stomach, but nothing too bad so far.
With my first I rarely felt nauseated, usually only if I had a headache. With my second I felt sick from about 7 weeks to 26. Blech. With my 3rd (TW* loss) about the same as my daughter. 4&5 no sickness. This go around it started up last week, unsure how far I am (5-6 weeks??) hoping to know next week.
Oh thank goodness for this board. 6 wks 2 days and feeling just so sick all the time. I've tried crackers but now they make me sick, too. Green apples have been friendly to me but that's about it. Anything else you ladies have tried that may help? It's worse in the evening for me rather than in the morning. I need to keep the baby well nourished but it's hard when I can't keep anything down and have no appetite. Anyone else relate?
I have been really sick with my other 2 pregnancies and this one seems no different: luckily with this one I am not in a cadaver lab in an anatomy class like my first. My mom told me to put sugar on things and it does help although sweet spaghetti and meat sauce is really weird and not healthy.
I also found the protein/breakfast shakes to be really helpful my last pregnancy. I couldn't stand the though of eating anything right when I woke up but I could drink the shake and the protein helped settle my stomach enough so I could eat real food 30 minutes later. Also, my OB calls the first tri "survival mode" and says to just eat what you can, when you can. You can worry more about healthy eating when you feel better!
My OB gave me this when I went in for my infertility/Clomid appointment. He says that if I start it as soon as I find out I'm pregnant that it may ease the severe morning sickness from last time. He swears it helps a LOT of women if they start it early enough. But only start the Unisom if you really need it because will make you very sleepy, and get the tablets not the sleep "gels" because only one has the anti-nausea ingredient in it if I remember correctly.
And only drink the G2 if you're having trouble staying hydrated. Otherwise water is best. An infuser that adds fruit is a great idea for those who develop a water aversion.
@Elizabella85 I just cringed so hard at the sentence that included "OB" and "Clomid".
To be fair, way back in the beginning of my IF journey I did clomid with my ob. She did the bloodwork and ultrasound monitoring and was very responsible with it.
My RE "graduates" me back to my MFM (or OB with the non-high risk patients) with all of his suggestions. So usually I could only get certain meds/testing through my RE, but because he sent me back they basically work together to continue my care. Maybe @Elizabella85 is in a similar situation?
A lot of OB's work with Clomid (I'm on Metformin for the infertility too - PCOS sucks) and I greatly prefer my OB over the RE that I worked with during my first pregnancy. He monitors just as well anyway. And my RE also "graduates" patients at 10 weeks to an OB and MFM, so OB delivered my daughter and is very familiar with my history. Hopefully this pregnancy is much smoother with fewer complications. I don't have time for weekly NST's and ultrasounds with a toddler running around!!
Although I should probably say fertility issues vs infertility since I am very blessed to be pregnant with a 2nd child. We've been trying for this one since May 2016, so ecstatic!
I think like 99% of RE's graduate patients back to an OB. Mine will graduate me hopefully in a few weeks, so I'm not sure why that matters regarding who delivers your child vs who helped you get KU. And yes, a lot of OB's incorrectly & unsafely administer Clomid without also doing the proper monitoring. It's a moot point now anyways and this thread is about MS, I was just making a cringeworthy observation at a common situation frequently talked about on TTGP.

It doesn't matter who delivered her, I just meant he worked with me on my last pregnancy and knows all about my reproductive history, medications, complications, etc. Since a couple of ladies were discussing it, I offered a more detailed explanation. No need to be snippy, I'm sorry the experience that brought me here makes you cringe. I'm grateful to be pregnant and that's all that matters.
Not full blown nearly but I, getting vague nausea that seems to pair with hunger (duh) and the 1st tri exhaustion. So it seems like 'hmmm why am I famished right now... but I'm soooo tired I'm just gonna lay here.... blechhhhhhh'
i stayed up till 11 last night because I wedged to eat. Nirmally I'm up till 12 but I was dozing off by 9, so it was late reply than I wanted.
@Elizabella85 She only meant that it makes her nervous when OBs are prescribing Clomid because they don't typically monitor patients on Clomid really closely. Clomid can have some serious side effects such as it can thin the uterine lining and cause people to ovulate way too many at once. Jon & Kate + 8? Those sextuplets were a result of poorly monitored Clomid. If anyone had been doing ultrasounds on her, they would have told her the cycle was cancelled due to the risk associated with sextuplets. She wasn't saying that you should be ashamed or feel badly about how you got pregnant. Just worries about the risks involved.

I know, I was just rubbed the wrong way by her comment. I'm still on cloud 9 from finding out and was a bit thrown by the negativity, but I do understand the concerns and I believe she's gone through even more to get pregnant so she understands. I need to remember to not be so hormonal when I reply. "Moody" has been a major side effect for me from the Clomid, but imagine that, moody from hormones and ovulation drugs. LOL
I'm sorry I rubbed you the wrong way @Elizabella85 but announcing on the TTGP board that you took Clomid from an OB is almost always a flame worthy offense unless there was safe monitoring. Now I understand we are not on TTGP but people have lost ovaries and have done significant damage to their uterus taking over prescribed Clomid from OB's who were not trained properly on how to administer and monitor the drug. I refrained earlier from responding to you because I rather a cease fire than an argument but @kiki75 is correct. My intent was not to shame you but the fact of the matter is that many of these women will go on to eventually TFAS and they should know they should they run into secondary IF, taking Clomid from an OB just is not safe. It is not the pain olympics on who it took longer to get pregnant and it surely wasn't pregnancy hormones that laced my comment. I have never, and would never, imply or suggest that because it took me longer to conceive that I am due some sort of get out of jail free card. I have been flamed on TB and I have apologized when I have been in the wrong. Life on TB is somewhat snarky, but it is 100% nicer than the days of old so I choose to let it go. This was no where near flaming, FWIW.

@lfinley87 I have the same problem. What's worked for me for a few days is wait until I vomit in the morning, and then have my coffee. It's stayed down for a week now.
