@lulu1180 Glad work has kept you busy! Hopefully this cycle is it!! @lund it's so reassuring to be speaking with your RE instead of the nurse. My experiences with them have not been fantastic. And I would suggest taking someone, just in case it doesn't go as smooth as planned. Make the annoying friend go get you ice cream and a redbox.
@50wife hell yes to clear tubes!! Have fun at the surprise party!! @zwink1 Those heated discussions are the worst. I hope he finds a better way to communicate with you and you two can move forward. @JuneRoseRuby Hopefully the reality of the situation sets in soon. Hopefully that will make him more realistic and proactive about the next step.
@beanship Good for you for taking a day to do nothing. With IF, we are tired just thinking. Taking a day to decompress is something we should all probably be doing.
@WillRunForWine21 Fingers crossed for your IUI. Your husband should mess with people about getting a high five. he could walk out, hold his hand up to someone, look at his hand, wipe it on his pants, and then hold it back up again with a big smile.
@leekat14 Everything crossed for you!! @RVAmom315 I hope the repeat SA brings better news this time. @shortstack930 So good to hear you are more relaxed this cycle!
@kiwi2628 I had to do blood work before something, maybe my laproscopy...anyway the nurse listed all of the tests and after she said pregnancy test I told her she could just leave that one off. Her reply...honey we just want to make sure there's no baby in there. My reply... science tells me there's not. Her face was priceless.
Well no transfer date for me yet. My lining isn't where it should be and they are upping the meds again. Annoyed. But obviously I want it done right so it's fine.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) FET in 9 days!
How are things going? Fine. Starting to get that nervous/excited tingle feeling. I want to go eat some sushi this week and drink some wine. Also I think I'm going to schedule a nice long massage the day before FET. If I'm already getting anxious 9 days out I'm sure the day before will be absolute torture.
Any questions?
GTKY: Tell me about something fun that you're doing this week! Ummm nothing crazy. I'm not working so that's fun?
@kiwi2628 ugh. That stinks that you had to go in for the beta. And about the cysts--how do they know they aren't producing any hormones (and what would it mean if it was?)
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) "relaxing". No temping (except to verify a spike--gonna do it every 10 days) of opks. And I've lightened my caffeine and alcohol ban
How are things going? Made an appt with the female RE everyone reccommended. But it falls on the Momday morning that pre-planning at school starts. So I'll have to tell my principal and I know I'm going to get questions about why I waited til then when I had the whole summer. I need to think of a response other than *TW*. I had an ectopic and I had to wait 3 months to TTC again and my OB wanted me to try one more cycle on my own before she gave me a referral and the the RE is popular so this was the first date I could get. "
Any questions? Is there any reason H needs to be there for the first RE appt? I'd rather go alone but didn't know if he needs to be there for anything.
GTKY: Tell me about something fun that you're doing this week! I have to races this week. 4 on the Fourth tomorrow and a 10k on Saturday.
@purplg8r Progesterone in oil...sooo not looking forward to it! Can you tell your principal that you have an appointment that you made in June but they were unable to get you in because it's a busy practice?
@purplg8r MH just says he hasn't given up hope yet. He thinks IVF will work and it will all be okay, so I think it is complete denial of our situation. He just keeps saying its like getting mad at his diabetes, its completely out of his control so there is no point in getting angry or upset. I don't think he can grasp that I am losing a life long dream right now. It's affecting me too this time.

GTKY: Tell me about something fun that you're doing this week! We had a big BBQ this weekend and had a lot of guests over. Today everyone left so I'm looking forward to just resting tomorrow.
@zwink1 sorry about the fight with DH. I hope some good comes out of it and it helps him to come to terms with what is going on. Sometimes we have to let it all out to move forward. Hugs to you.
@JuneRoseRuby I'm sorry the repeat SA was not better, that really sucks. My H is also very optimistic and it's so annoying at times because I feel he lives in lala land half of the time. I hope the RE has some good options for you guys. Does he want to try TESE if that's an option?
@beanship this process is so hard, you are allowed to have some 'feeling-down-in-the-dumps-and-sorry-for-myself' days. We all have them. As long as you pick yourself up afterwards and keep moving forward. Hugs to you and hope you felt better today.
@antoto OMG so excited for you! Enjoy all the wine and sushi, hoping you won't be able to have any more for a long time!
@purplg8r My H wasn't at my first appt and it wasn't a problem although the RE said he would have liked to have him there. He did come with me for the f/u after all the testing was done which was definitely more important.
@antoto so close!!! enjoy the hell out of that massage!!! And wine. And sushi!
@purplg8r I would also just mention that you got an appt with a specialist and that was the first appt you could get. Although fwiw, I just told my manager what's going on. I've literally had multiple appts each week for the past two weeks so it's kind of easier that she knows instead of an awkward "hey I have an appt and will be late tomorrrow" every other day.
@KristoKekerooni :hugs: Those sorts of "anniversary" reminders are never fun. They should totally give you a free year for all the recommendations here! @leekat14 Sorry to hear about the lining. I hope that solid transfer date comes soon with the meds! @kiwi2628 While I understand that the docs "need" to check, it's so ridiculous that they just can't trust what our bodies are doing. Like every time I have to get a procedure or new meds at the clinic, they do a pregnancy test. I always tell them that there is 0% chance that I'm pregnant, but they still make me pee in a cup anyway. Rooting for your IUI #2! @antoto Countdown time!!! I hope your sushi/wine/massage binge is excellent. Sending tons and tons of positive vibes your way. @purplg8r I don't have any advice beyond what the other great ladies have offered, but I feel you with the school stuff. Our dual extraction is going to be during the first month back to school and I'm sure people will be wondering why I couldn't have just done it over the summer. Have an awesome time at your races!

@safire3 There isn't any point in trying the TESE. Since MH has virtual azoo, they have studies that prove that the TESE vs regular ejaculation does not have better results. So we only have ejaculation for collection as an option. I am sure our RE will say lets try IVF, but I am going to have to make my decision on the odds he thinks we have. I am more worried about sperm quality and embryos making it to 5 day blast and then having enough that the results of PGD leaves us with something to even transfer. Made the RE appt yesterday. Earliest they could get us in for a consult is 7/26. Feels like forever from now.

@JuneRoseRuby ah ok I understand. And ugh why do you have to wait so long for an appointment with an RE when you're already a patient there. Ours is 7/20 and that feels like an eternity to me too. I really hope he/ she can give you guys some helpful information and you can make a clear plan. Maybe it will give your H some time to come to process all of this as well.
@purplg8r I agree with PPs -- just allude to it being a specialist. Legally, they can't ask you what the specialist is for or anything like that. If for some reason they do push it, consider saying straight-up, "I had an ectopic pregnancy and I'm dealing with that." I guarantee it'll make them uncomfortable and shut down the conversation
@JuneRoseRuby While our dx is very different, our IVF decision is the same -- are we going to get enough embryos to make this worthwhile? Like if we get one normal embryo...no. It's such a frustrating place to be in and I wish there was better information about what we can expect. I trust our RE, but he isn't a specialist in my condition, so do his estimates really reflect reality? But it's not like I can find online other estimates. Ugh.
As is also true of regular TTC, everything feels like a crapshoot all the time.
@JuneRoseRuby :hugs: I'm hoping that both of us find enough viable sperm to be able to get to the IVF stage. I hope the RE is able to give you some good odds during the consult and subsequent testing. The odds can be so variable for MFI, but the RE should be able to tell you about the potential procedures, although there aren't quite as many in our cases.

Any questions? Not at the moment

@beanship I was doing a bit of searching on the spearmint/PCOS link over my lunch hour. Most of what I found was anecdotal (but convincing enough that I went out and got some!). Would love some of our science ladies to chime in...
@Sailing_Mama Yeah I found that one scientific study and remember seeing something about another study (but couldn't find it). The study was small, but it was good enough for me. And I like the tea way better than most other teas ive tried (tastes like chewing gum haha). I've already had my 2 cups for the day! And if it's all bogus, I'll at least be better hydrated. Side nite: DH likes to eat foods I specifically buy for myself, but I told him spearmint reduces testosterone levels and he is avoiding it like the plague. Wouldn't even taste it. I agree - can we get some input from the science ladies?
**lurking this thread**
@beanship and @Sailing_Mama, I was intrigued by this mint tea idea as well. I don't have PCOS that I'm aware of, but I ovulate very late and irregularly, so I'm trying out some things to try to regulate hormone levels. I looked into the scientific literature on this (only a couple of papers). The studies were done with a small sample size (20-40 patients split into two treatment groups), so caution there that they may not have great power or reproducibility. The studies focused on hirsutism (excessive body hair, caused by high testosterone), and mentioned that about half of these patients had PCOS as well.
Study participants started drinking spearmint tea after their period bleeding ended. They had two cups of spearmint tea a day (and sounded like a normal preparation you would find in a tea bag and steeped for 5-10 minutes). In one study, they did this for 5 days, and took pre and post treatment hormone levels. I don't like this study because there was no control group, and the changes in hormone levels they observed (decreases in testosterone and increases in FSH and estrogen) could just be from moving through the menstrual cycle. The second study had women drink the tea twice a day for 30 days, again starting after their period bleeding had ended. In this case it took them 30 days to observe changes in hormone levels compared to a control group that drank chamomile tea. This was more convincing, but be warned that they arbitrarily chose 15 day and 30 day measurements, and didn't monitor ovulation.
I don't think there is any harm in drinking all the spearmint tea you want. It's a bit like pomegranate juice for lining thickness...scientific evidence is still weak, but mostly because there aren't many well designed studies looking at it.

@lulu1180 sorry things are getting changed up at work. FX it turns out to be a good change! @lund that's a long drive in general by yourself. Maybe just having a friend there for company wouldn't be a bad idea. But that depends if you don't mind driving that long by yourself and how annoying your friend can be. @50Wife hopefully your nice clear tubes are the answer for you this cycle! @zwink1 sorry about your fight with DH. I feel like men have a hard time sharing/talking about their feelings. I hope he can find a way to open up. @beanship I'm sorry you had 'one of those' days. I've been there a few times. TTC is hard and frustrating. Just remember to pull yourself up and to keep marching forward! @antoto you are so close!! I second the massage, that sounds wonderful! @purplg8r your principle should take that you have an appointment and not question why you waited for that day. Sometimes those things are out of your control, as an adult I feel like that should be known. Maybe I'm naive.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Femera, Ovidrel, TI and Progesterone.
How are things going? I can tell my body is already gearing up to O. I hope I can make it to my US this Friday. I'll be using OPKs until then.
Any questions? Has anyone had Femera make them ovulate earlier than 'normal'? I always O, so the Femera is being used to hopefully give me a stronger ovulation but I feel as if It might come earlier than what my normal time is. Obviously my body could just be giving me some extra early signs but I'm just curious.
GTKY: Tell me about something fun that you're doing this week! Just got back home from visiting some family for the 4th! Now catching up on some laundry and house cleaning. We were gone two days (one night) and my hanging basket about dried up and died so I'm trying to bring it back to life.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Estrace is up to 3x per day and continuing my low dose of lupron daily. I drank a bottle of pom juice which was new... it is really delish with sparkling water!
How are things going? Good! I went in this morning for blood work and an ultrasound. We saw the stripe and my lining was thick enough!!! woohooo As long as my blood work comes back fine, we are right on track for a 7/13 FET! This also means that I will start PIO shots on Friday
Any questions?
GTKY: Tell me about something fun that you're doing this week! NOT WORKING!! I was off on Monday and Tuesday and I am off again on Friday!!
My computer is broken! I felt like an A-hole that I posted about myself at work and meant to come back here and then my computer was having trouble and I couldn't get on. Still on mobile so please everyone take this post as a giant love tit for all of you
@BertieMeetsGertie I am jealous of all your winery visits of late! @leekat14 No specific instructions for transfer day yet but I will let you know when I get them! I don't even know the time until the day before. @50wife and @haylsbayls have shiny new utes! Get at it! @JuneRoseRuby Ooo bathroom reno is exciting! Hope you share pics. @KristoKekerooni ugh they really should have a long term member discount. @purplg8r Can your H dial in for the meeting? Sometimes it is good to have a second set of ears because it can be a lot to process. Otherwise, if it is just the initial appt, he probably doesn't have to be there. If I remember @kiki75 went alone. Maybe she has some other insight? @mispanda When I was on medicated cycles, I definitely O'd earlier than I normally did. The goal was to have me ready by CD12 but it was sometimes a little later than that CD14-16. @Sailing_Mama Hope you got in for blood work and it all went smoothly today!

Re: IF/Testing Weekly Check In - Week of July 3
@KristoKekerooni Ugh, FF renew? Sorry girl.
@WillRunForWine21 Fingers crossed for your IUI. Your husband should mess with people about getting a high five. he could walk out, hold his hand up to someone, look at his hand, wipe it on his pants, and then hold it back up again with a big smile.
@leekat14 Everything crossed for you!!
@RVAmom315 I hope the repeat SA brings better news this time.
@shortstack930 So good to hear you are more relaxed this cycle!

Any questions?
GTKY: Tell me about something fun that you're doing this week! Ummm nothing crazy. I'm not working so that's fun?
@lund FX you do get to see your actual RE & he explains stuff better & answers questions
@50Wife FX for your nice, clean tubes!!
@zwink1 sorry about your rough weekend with H. TTC with IF places so much more stress in relationships
@JuneRoseRuby do you think your H is in denial or really just doesn't understand the situation?
@beanship you're allowed to have those down days. You have to be real to yourself.
@WillRunForWine21 FX that IUI works! And your H cracks me up! My H said stuff like that too!
@KristoKekerooni FF should have a deal that if it doesn't help get you KU in the first year, you get it free after
@leekat14 what does PIO mean? (I'm still learning some of these IF acronyms)
@BertieMeetsGertie have fun at the winery!
@sbarluccico have fun at your freebie dinner!
@RVAmom315 FX it was a fluke!!
@shortstack930 yay for being more relaxed!!
@AlohaKumu hopefully the RE's office calls soon.
@kiwi2628 ugh. That stinks that you had to go in for the beta. And about the cysts--how do they know they aren't producing any hormones (and what would it mean if it was?)
@antoto it's getting so close!!
Cycle/CD: 8/7
Any questions? Is there any reason H needs to be there for the first RE appt? I'd rather go alone but didn't know if he needs to be there for anything.
GTKY: Tell me about something fun that you're doing this week! I have to races this week. 4 on the Fourth tomorrow and a 10k on Saturday.

@WillRunForWine21 Hope everything went awesome with the IUI today!
*eta gif that perfectly depicts my life
@purplg8r I would also just mention that you got an appt with a specialist and that was the first appt you could get.
Although fwiw, I just told my manager what's going on. I've literally had multiple appts each week for the past two weeks so it's kind of easier that she knows instead of an awkward "hey I have an appt and will be late tomorrrow" every other day.

@safire3 @JuneRoseRuby Our IVF consult is also at the end of July! Small world.

@50Wife Glad they were able to unblock your tubes!
@zwink1 Sorry for CD1 and such a rough weekend - big hugs
@JuneRoseRuby Ugh, sorry your H is being so stubborn about the diagnosis... I have no advice, but am sending lots of love
@beanship I just got my progesterone induced AF yesterday - it's frustrating that it is 10 days of pills and then hopefully shortly thereafter. Hopefully you'll get in to see the RE soon
@KristoKekerooni Ugh - sorry you keep getting reminders of how long you've been dealing with this
@WillRunForWine21 Yay for IUI - keeping my FX that the one egg is THE egg!
@leekat14 So excited for you to get a transfer date!
@sbarluccico That's awesome that everything is covered for you... hopefully you'll get your IUI next cycle
@RVAmom315 Do you know when he'll go for the repeat SA? FX that you get better results from this one
@shortstack930 That's so nice that you've been able to relax this TWW
@AlohaKumu The orientation day will make everything seem so real! I'm so excited for your transfer next month!!
@kiwi2628 So sorry for AF, and that they made you do a beta
@antoto The countdown is on! I don't know how you deal with the anticipation - we're all sending lots of positive vibes your way!

Diagnosis (If you've been): Unexplained Secondary Infertility/ RPL

Any questions? Has anyone had Femera make them ovulate earlier than 'normal'? I always O, so the Femera is being used to hopefully give me a stronger ovulation but I feel as if It might come earlier than what my normal time is. Obviously my body could just be giving me some extra early signs but I'm just curious.

@kiwi2628 sorry about your computer!
