@saralee797-2 So I'm not on a natural FET because I'm on estrogen and I'll also be doing progesterone. I think places only have you do BCP if they need you to be on a specific schedule, so they manipulate your cycle timing. I could be wrong on that - it was just my impression.
YOU GUYS. Embryo report. I suspect they did a rush on getting the results out since they F'ed up.
Four healthy girl embryos and two healthy boy embryos. *sobbing*
@adirat Thanks!! So I think for the first transfer we are just going to do one, since we know it will be genetically normal. If the first one doesn't take then maybe we will move on to trying with two. I kind of want to do an embryo that is "hatching" so I'm going to ask the RE about that tomorrow - can you tell that when it's frozen? Or is that something that happens after it thaws? I'm less concerned about the sex and more concerned that we try the best looking one. (but Imma be honest... if one boy and one girl look equally promising I'm picking the girl)
@dragonette505 I'm so sorry you are back here. So many hugs to you.

@antoto@adirat The way the natural cycle was explained to me was no bcp, no drugs and they monitor you to time/confirm ovulation so lots of appointments. Apparently, there is a high risk of things going wrong and the cycle being canceled. That is why I chose a medicated cycle. I feel like I was told the bcp was to help regulate hormones *shrugs* Congrats on lots of healthy embabies @antoto
@saralee797-2 yeah that could be true for the hormone regulation. But I've also heard that it can thin your uterine lining? That's probably why some places do or do not do HBC. Kind of a toss up maybe? But I'm still doing estrogen and progesterone so still medicated.
@Aurora1973 *tw* She'll be 8 weeks old They live cross-country so this was the soonest everyone could arrange to be together. And, thanks. I'm looking forward to it*end tw*
@shortstack930 Yeah, Ovidrel. I'm not super concerned about it since I've already taken it (this was our third and final go with medicated cycles before IVF) and it's manageable, just annoying. Thanks, though. That's so good that you caught that oversight on your chart and didn't lose your opportunity for the IUI!
@adirat Your description of the two RE clinic options is EXACTLY how I felt when I was choosing between practices here. On one hand, if I had stuck with the "IVF factory" as you put it, I probably would be 2-3 months ahead of where we are now because I do have to wait quite a bit to meet one on one with my doctor/get the ball rolling. So there's that. But the wait time kind of explains itself when you realize how much time she spends with each patient when you finally do get to see her. And thankfully the nurses are just as great and all know you by name within a cycle or so. I don't think I could tackle this stuff any other way. I hope you find that taking some time this summer to explore and discuss all of your options helps...and I really hope you get to have a nice, relaxed approach to everything BD related while waiting for your TTC-cycle to begin.
@BusinessWife I know how much it can be to keep up with this thread sometimes. There's no need to explain or apologize. I do hope your feelings of being emotionally spent improve soon and that you can get squeeze some quality self-care into what sounds like a very hectic schedule!
@madspunk This is my third time using the trigger and tbh, I'm still not sure how to pinpoint exact O date since I'm not temping. For the sake of counting DPO I usually assume it's the day after trigger but that may not be accurate since my LP was a bit longer than usual.Since we are not doing IUI, I just make sure we cover our bases in terms of timing and go off of secondary signs like CM as best I can. Also, I'm sorry about the spotting and sincerely hope it stops soon.
@dragonette505 I'm so deeply sorry to see you back here. We're here for anything you might need. Sending love your way.
@antoto That's incredible news. I'm so glad you didn't have to wait for the results. Hooray for getting to this milestone in your IVF journey!
@magnolia131 Yeah, same here -- if I just wanted direction and were doing ivf, I would be better off at the ivf factory. But if I'm okay moving at my own pace and doing follow up then I want to be at a place where I really can make my own informed decisions.
@antoto I think the hatching starts when they thaw because they're starting to grow again.
@antoto@saralee797-2 That makes sense about the natural fet. Really all I know about it is that it's less invasive but also less effective. I read some REs don't like to do it unless you have been pregnant before, in case your hormones/lining/etc. at the time of implantation are the cause of your IF.
@antoto OMG that's SO COOL!!!!!!! If it were me I'd have such a hard time deciding which to transfer (assuming they all looked great), so I'd tell the RE to surprise me LOL. So excited for you!

@WillRunForWine21 WFAF blows. I hope it shows up soon so you can get back to the active part. You might ask your RE's office about doing what mine calls a Mayo Cycle (but I haven't been able to find much of anything on Google searching on that term). I do Clomid days 3-7 and then 150iu of Gonal-F on day 9. I'll tell you, the Clomid time, I don't feel anything going on with the ovaries. It's after the Gonal-F that I feel anything going on in there. My understanding is that the Clomid gets things rolling for me and then the Gonal-F helps them finish the job. So maybe next time instead of one still lagging, you'd get a third? @dragonette505 I'm so sorry you're back here. Back to back. That's absolutely brutal. But I'm glad you're feeling up to joining in some. @antoto Those embryos!!! @antoto I think they can do assisted hatching, too. So basically they make a little hole in the membrane or whatever to help it along. Kind of like tapping a little hole in a bird's egg to get things going for them. @lund I'm with you on the surprise. H was weirded out (and really, so was I) by the possibility of picking the sex so what we came down to is if we end up there, we'll take all of the ones that are graded the same, write them on slips of paper, and draw one out of a hat. We hopefully won't even look at the identifier or the list and will just pass the slip off to the RE's office.
eta: To be clear, zero shade at anyone who picks the sex. We just still want to leave something to magic chance.
AFM, the MRI itself went as well as can be expected. I managed to keep it together and the tech did a good job coaching me through every step. The tech was incredibly kind and either he has a good poker face or he didn't see anything obviously horrible. After dealing with the bitch and the dipstick at the eye doctor's office, I was so thankful for his wonderful bedside manner and recognition that I needed someone to take care of me, that I ordered him a pair of the socks I was wearing today because he said he really liked them and was going to check Amazon for them. He even correctly identified the dinosaur on them. And the eye doctor's office sent a survey about my experience. They asked... so I told them exactly how I felt.

@antoto Such an amazing report!!! I'm so excited for you!! My best friend had a similar situation, 5 embryos to choose from, and when she met with her doctor after the PGS was done the doctor told her which was the "strongest," which is based on the grading system they do before freezing, then they transferred that one. E.g. my embryo was an AB, with AA being the strongest and AB being slightly less but still good. (Side story: I asked my doc what the grade was of our embryo, and he said "It doesn't matter." I was all "Wut?" He said that because I only had one normal embryo, the grade was irrelevant, as they only have one to choose from.) So your doc will probably show you their grades then make suggestions on which to transfer. Of course, they're yours, so you ultimately pick

How are things going? eh, have had a lot going on personally with work and house stress. It's also my birthday on Saturday. It's bringing up a lot for me emotionally since this month is 2 years since we started TTC and I started actively participating on the bump. That drive by last week really threw me for a loop seeing my comment from 2015. I'm also turning 30 which is tough since it's a milestone birthday and I saw myself in a different place by now. I threw DH a surprise party for his 30th last year and he's been asking me for months what I wanted to do and I kept brushing it off assuming we'd be pregnant and I wouldn't really wanna do anything. Just lots of feels. Sorry to be a Debbie downer. I wanted to speak with my RE not the midwife before doing another IUI so this month is just the good old fashioned Humpty Dumpty. If we aren't KU this cycle I have an appointment with my RE the Monday after AF is due to discuss other treatment options
Any questions? Any advice on acupuncture? A fertility nurse who is a client of my husbands suggested a place to him. Wasn't sure if there is anything specific treatment to ask for and I've heard lots of ladies talk about it here
GTKY: If you had to pick a new screen name, what would it be and why? Gees I'm not sure, not very good at this stuff hence my totally nostalgic AIM circa de 1998 SN
Yeah @eggplantface I've heard they only pay attention to the grades if you haven't done PGS. Once the PGS is done the grading is irrelevant. I mean you could still certainly pick based on that, but there is no evidence that a genetically normal AA would be more likely to implant than a lower graded embryo that was also genetically normal. Which I thought was surprising, but there you go.
I've toyed with just telling the embryologist to just pick whichever one looks the best and put it in and be surprised... but I kind of like knowing better. I don't think I'm much of a surprise kind of gal. But if I were that would be really fun!
@beachbunnyxo123 I am sorry you are having a rough time. Those milestones are killer. When we're TTC we have blinders on to everything else but I hope you can focus on what you've accomplished in your 30 years and the other good things in your life and celebrate those!! I'm happy to hear you have an appt and hopefully a new plan in the near future too. Hugs my friend.
@beachbunnyxo123 Sorry things have been so rough I really feel you on thinking life would be different by now. Big hugs friend.
I go to fertility acupuncture, and I like it. It isn't clear to me that it actually helps my cycle or anything, but it's a great destresser for me, which I really value during this time. I think @aurora1973 also goes -- did it lengthen your LP? Something like that, a more visible benefit. It also does an amazing job at reducing my period cramps!
@antoto holy cow you've got so many good embryos! Your embryologist should be able to tell you if they were hatching when they were frozen. Our one goodie was already hatching and it stuck (tw* for a bit.)
Not sure if it's true for all pgs testing companies but I found out after the fact that ours listed the embryos in order of quality. If we had had more than one pgs normal embryo that's the order our RE would have put them back in.

@antoto I think the hatching starts when they thaw because they're starting to grow again.
@antoto @saralee797-2 That makes sense about the natural fet. Really all I know about it is that it's less invasive but also less effective. I read some REs don't like to do it unless you have been pregnant before, in case your hormones/lining/etc. at the time of implantation are the cause of your IF.

@dragonette505 I'm so sorry you're back here. Back to back. That's absolutely brutal. But I'm glad you're feeling up to joining in some.
@antoto Those embryos!!!
@antoto I think they can do assisted hatching, too. So basically they make a little hole in the membrane or whatever to help it along. Kind of like tapping a little hole in a bird's egg to get things going for them.
@lund I'm with you on the surprise.
eta: To be clear, zero shade at anyone who picks the sex.
They asked... so I told them exactly how I felt.

back to letrozole and TI after failed IUI last cycle
eh, have had a lot going on personally with work and house stress.
I've toyed with just telling the embryologist to just pick whichever one looks the best and put it in and be surprised... but I kind of like knowing better. I don't think I'm much of a surprise kind of gal. But if I were that would be really fun!
Not sure if it's true for all pgs testing companies but I found out after the fact that ours listed the embryos in order of quality. If we had had more than one pgs normal embryo that's the order our RE would have put them back in.
