@J1006 - FX 3rd time is the charm!

@katherind - I am so sorry you're in beta hell. Honestly I'd have a really hard time being optimistic too, but I am praying for doubling at your next beta.

@katherind my betas were not doubling either with my last pregnancy. My doctor referred me to an OB to monitor me and the OB wasn't concerned at all. He said that they generally see doubling every 48 hours but, as per the peer reviewed literature, it only has to go up by at least 30% every 48 hours to be viable. My pregnancy continued and we had multiple U/S with great heart rates and a squirmy baby and everything was on track. (Full disclosure, I did end up losing the baby but that was due to a large SCH that formed behind the placenta and was not survivable).

FX for improving betas. Limbo totally sucks. I basically went to Walmart and bought a cart full of $5 movies and watched them in bed for weeks to get my mind off things. Good luck!

@tosh24 I'm hoping it stays viable and maybe it was just a late implant. I'll have to run the math and see what percentage they are doubling. Thanks for the info.

Sorry to hear about the concerning betas @katherind

Sorry to double post, but I'm looking for advice and encouragement and also posted something similar on the June IUI forum.

I've really been struggling the last week or so. At about 8dpo I started having lots of symptoms and I am SO skeptical after 2 years of symptom spotting and being disappointed. This weekend it got worse- especially hot flashes/fever, nausea, diarrhea. The nausea and diarrhea have been going since about 8dpo and I'm now 13 dpo. I broke down and took a test last night even though my doctor told me not to test until Wednesday. But I know I shouldn't have because it was super watered down evening urine. It was negative.

I feel like I have a bug but I'm going on 5 days now and I really can't do anything except work and sleep. I'm feeling depressed, especially knowing that I could very well be disappointed again. I have been having little appetite, bloating, sore breasts, nipples that are sticking out all the time, headaches, stomach aches gas, a lot of watery cm. Does anyone think this could be OHSS?  I just don't know what is wrong with me and of course would love to think I'm pregnant but it seems too much too fast. Between the femara and the ovidrel side effects I've been feeling like s@*t for about a month now and I don't know how I'll go through this again for multiple IUI tries.

Any kind words or ideas are appreciated!

I'm so confused. I started having cramps yesterday that felt like the beginnings of AF. They are now constant & I have light pink spotting.

I just got my fourth beta back expecting it to drop, but it's 41.46. So it is still increasing, but overall very low.

I talked to the nurse when she called with my results. She said it's probably the beginning stages of a miscarry, however, it's just too early to tell. I'll test again Wednesday. If the beta drops, we know it's probably a m/c. If it plateaus or increases, we'll do an early ultrasound next week.

I was hoping we could do an u/s this week before my trip to NY to put my mind at ease, but she said it's just too early (I'm about 22dpo).

This is so confusing. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?

tosh24 your post touched me from earlier in the week, hope you made it through this weekend ok.  I suffered a MC this Jan and its been so hard on me and my OH hates talking about it.  Its more he hates seeing me cry.  I've been on this journey for quite some time and to have been blessed with a twin BFP was a dream come true!  I went for pretty much my 10wk US appt where they were perfect and later that night all hell broke loose and it was terrible.  Had to go to the ER etc.  I was a mess and couldn't wait to get back on the TTC wagon.  I've recently done 4 cycles of IVF back to back now trying to bank embryos and be ready to go.  (I"m now 41 so the clock is ticking)  Its getting harder for me the closer I keep getting to my due date and i'm not pregnant.  You wouldn't think thats possible but it is.  AND every time I get too upset my OH will say you can't keep doing this, this isn't for you.  How will you continue on if this happens again.  Now OH already has kids he's more doing this for me...he has no problem adopting etc.  Just wanted you to know you're really not alone!  I probably talk more about it here, or my sister.  Its still so hard for me BUT I know the more I talk to him about it makes him not want to do this process.  Does it suck sure, but I still want to try.  Best of luck to u hoping the next round brings you success!!

@holls214 Do you know if she had spotting too? Its very light for me and the cramps are finally calming down.

My RE called late this afternoon to check in with me. It doesn't sound promising, but she assured me my risk of an ectopic rupture is very low since my hcg is under 100. So I can atleast try to enjoy my trip to NYC with my DH for my birthday without worrying about ending up in an ER.

We will still test Wednesday and go from there.

@katherind Praying everything turns out well for you!! I know its frustrating, but hang in there. Long as you aren't bleeding heavily, then it sounds promising still.I miscarried this time last year, I bleed a lot on and off...I was in denial til the end. But they say spotting can be normal during pregnancy, so hopefully it's nothing to be alarmed by.

@Hopeful_mom Thank you for your message. I'm sorry for your loss as well. Similar thing happened to me - I went for an ultrasound on Sunday and everything was great and I got to see baby wiggling its arms and legs and bouncing around, and then on Tuesday I hemorrhaged and that was that. You basically hit the nail on the head. My DH has the EXACT same response. I keep a lot to myself so I don't overwhelm him - it's not that he's not supportive and caring, it's just he doesn't handle this kind of stuff well. And for him, he's happy with our life the way it is. We do have a great life but I can't get the feeling of pure joy and elation we felt when I was pregnant out of my head, which makes me keep pushing ahead with the treatments. While he would be happy with another child, he isn't as hell bent on it as I am so he's going along with most of this for me. But I am getting tired too. I think this will be the second last cycle and that will be it. Good luck with your journey - I hope it brings you your sweet rainbow baby(ies). I'm sending you all the positive vibes I've got :)

Ugh, so get this. The nurse from my RE's office just called to give me my medication instructions (or so I thought) and instead told me I can't start my next cycle because my beta came back positive. It's 11. At what is supposed to be 18 dpo. So, looks like a CP. I tested on 13DPO and 14 DPO and got negatives, so I stopped my progesterone and AF showed the next day. (TMI) I've had a full on heavy flow since then. I didn't go in for my beta because AF was here but they check HCG on CD 3 bloodwork anyway so that's how they caught it. I'm more annoyed than anything right now. This is how my last pregnancy started except my first level was 68. Practically bled for the next 7 weeks straight and then lost the baby. I go in Thursday to check my beta again and hopefully it has gone down and I can start my cycle. I really hope this doesn't drag out for weeks.....

@tosh24 I had to wait. They counted the bleeding from the cp as my period. So instead of starting in May, I started in June. The cp delayed ovulation a little for me.

@SP128 I thought so. I actually found out from my CD3 bloodwork that my beta was 11 so I had already had AF for 3 days. I'm hoping that the numbers are down tomorrow when I go in which will be CD 5 and we can still go ahead with this cycle and I don't have to sit it out. So frustrating!

@tosh24 fx for you. It took me like a week and a half to reach 0. Hcg has a tendency to linger in my system.

@tosh24 I actually waited just to give my body a chance to heal a little and myself. You may no have to since still early in your cycle. My bleeding was on and off...it was like it lingered so that was another reason.

@tosh24 I'm sorry you're dealing with the low hcg too. I hope that your numbers cooperate so you can move on.

AFM - I've still been dealing with bad cramps off and on with spotting in between. Despite that, my hcg just came back at 67.81 up from 41.46. However, since the numbers aren't doubling & they are so low - the RE is suspecting this one is not viable. So we are working on getting the numbers to drop at this point. The RE's office has instructed that we stop the Crinone & estradiol patches to see if that triggers AF. I'll get another blood draw Monday to see what happens.

@katherind I'm so sorry that your outcome was not better. I went to see my acupuncturist yesterday (she is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine) and she did a treatment to help clear everything from my body and she also advised me to drink a few cups of red raspberry leaf tea and a few cups of dandelion tea a day to help the process along. Just thought I'd share in case you were interested as well. Thinking of you!

AFM, I got my second beta back which frustratingly went from 11 on tuesday to 33 today, but is still well below what it should be at 20dpo. My doctor called and agreed it's not viable and gave me the go-ahead to try whatever my naturopath/acupuncturist suggest to clear this pregnancy from my system. Every time I open the fridge I see my meds sitting there and I'm so mad that the universe has thrown another monkey wrench into the process.

@tosh24 - I'm so sorry. I hope whatever your naturopath suggested works.

    **TW**

I got a super faint BFP today (but it was there enough that even DH saw it). I think I'm only 10dpo (12piui), but I started light pink spotting this evening. I usually don't get AF until 14-15dpo. I am trying not to freak out, but it's so hard not to stress over it. Every time I go to the bathroom I'm worried I'm going to have bright red bleeding. I am going to test again and call my RE in the morning and I'm sure they'll have me come in for betas and check my progesterone.

@J1006 - are you waiting to test until 14dpo? If so you have much more patience than I do! I told myself I would try and wait this cycle, but my temp went way up this morning, so I decided to test. FX for you!!!

@dmo1371. That was the plan, but DH pressured me to test this morning. BFN, but it's only 10 dpo, so it's not surprising. I told him no more tests at least until Thursday.

*TW* Well my hcg levels have started to drop as anticipated. We stopped the Crinone and estradiol last week and we've since dropped from the 60's to 20's. I've been quite uncomfortable - cramps especially. I'll test again Friday just to be sure the numbers get back to zero. I'm looking forward to our break. This cycle has completely drained me. I'm not even sure if I want to continue trying. We'll decide that over our break once our heads are clear from this loss. *End TW*

So the saga continues.... 3rd beta today and my numbers came back at 251, up from 33 four days ago. Doubling time of about 32 hours. Since I triggered, my O date is known so it's obvious this is a late implantation. From what I'm reading, it looks like 82% of implantations after day 11 or 12 dpo are early miscarriages (6 weeks or earlier). Apparently later losses are not associated with late implantations. My last miscarriage was a late implantation (low starting betas, fetus was always a week behind but I O very consistently) but everything was progressing fine until 9 weeks so I don't know if there were any issues specific to the late implantation. My OB thinks the reason I miscarried was due to a massive SCH and the fact that I contracted parvovirus which has a 15% miscarriage rate if infected in the first trimester. So, who knows what's actually going to happen with my current pregnancy.

Plan is to go in for a 4th beta on Wednesday and then, if #'s continue to rise and there are no issues, they will probably schedule an u/s for next week to have a look and see if they can locate an intrauterine pregnancy. My RE also wants me to go back on my progesterone suppositories. Luckily (unluckily?) this is my 2nd time in limbo hell so I've learned that no matter how much I stress and how much I research, whatever is going to happen is going to happen and nobody can control a thing. I want to be positive but need to stay realistic. So, I guess I'll buckle in for the ride and see where things end up.

@tosh24 - That is much better news that anticipated! I am keeping everything crossed for you! ******TW - with my son I went through beta hell. Eventually the numbers started doubling and I was told to come for an u/s on this day if I don't start bleeding and given a 50/50 shot of a viable pregnancy. He's now 2.5 so it can happen.
