I'm meeting with our home birth midwife for the first time on Friday morning, and I'm so excited. All my appointments so far have been with the midwifes at her backup physicians office (to get me in their sysytem in case of an emergency), and while they've been great I'm so looking forward to meeting the lady everyone in our birth community (dr, midwife, and doula alike) raves about. Also, we should know the sex by Thursday!
DS1: Nov. 2013 DS2: Jan. 2016 DS3: Dec. 2017 Baby #4 on the way!
I've got an appointment today but it's just paperwork and going over testing options with the OB Coordinator plus I have to give a sample to make sure my bladder infection cleared up!
I'm taking a tour of my preferred hospital on Wednesday. Not really an appointment per say but I'm excited:) should be getting out Announcement photos this week too!
I'm seeing the MFM doctor tomorrow for the first time. I'm nervous because I never saw a doctor for my last pregnancy, just midwives. I hope it goes well!
I have a "newcomer's class" on Wednesday that I am not looking forward to. I just did this class 2 years ago and it's basically all the common sense stuff of dos and don'ts during pregnancy. Everyone who goes through our OB office has to take the class. It's going to be so boring and the air conditioning is sub par in this building.
Had my Harmony test done today. Then the doctor tried to find baby's heartbeat with the little Doppler, but could only hear baby moving around, so he ordered an ultrasound for me. Baby is doing great in there. Flipping all around with a heart beat of 165! And now we wait for the results of the genetics/gender test...
@KatieEl Did they tell you to expect a week for the InformaSeq results? That's what they told me... so I'll start harassing them Wednesday if I have not heard (mine was done Wednesday). I haven't even seen it listed on my online portal
NT scan tomorrow! Woot woot. Excited to see this little again.
@KatieEl and any mommas doing a home birth I think you are so courageous. Seriously I don't know that I could do it. Hope your appointment is awesome with her.
@EmilyLove25 they told me a week, but not to bug them until the afternoon of the day a week after I tested. So I get to star calling them Thursday after 3 lol.
@burnsmommy27 For me it doesn't feel courageous so much as necessary. Literally every doctor and nurse at the hospital after DS2 (and his pediatrician and my midwives) told me to consider a home birth for the next one. Precipitous labor was scary and I feel way better knowing I don't have to leave my house this time and we'll have all the supplies we need there.

I have an ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday morning due to some excessive cramping I've been experiencing (with no spotting, fortunately). Hoping it's just due to dehydration. I'm glad my doctor wants to make sure everything is okay and I'm excited to see how the little bean is doing. I've also got my 10-week nurse's appointment on Thursday. Busy week!
I had my blood drawn for my NIPT (Counsyl) today. Should have the results in a week or so. Im AMA, so fingers crossed for no chromosomal issues!!! We're kinda hoping for a girl, but at this point I'm so anxious about the health aspect I really don't care about the sex.
Our second appointment is tomorrow, but we have no idea what to expect. We will be 12 weeks, but were just told to make the appointment, not what we would be doing this time around (testing, us, etc)
I'm annoyed. Just had my appointment for my NT scan. This is my 3rd US so far. I'm supposed to be 12w1d today and baby is measuring 2 Weeks behind at 10w1d. This office never did a dating US, if they had I wouldn't have had to waste mine and DHs time today when they couldn't do the NT scan. Now I have to wait 2 Weeks and do it again. This is the reason you have a dating US. -Rant over-
@KatieEl I know it. I'm gonna ask on Thursday why in 3 ultrasounds they never took 15 seconds to measure the baby. It's not that difficult or time consuming.
24 hour countdown has started until I lose it on my OBGYN's office and/or Lab Corp for not updating me on my results... I mean I had them done last Wednesday at 8:30 AM, so I'm being a bit irrational... but could care less! You tell a pregnant woman a week, she wants to hear results in a week!
I had an appt with the MFM doctor and she was amazing! I went in there pretty nervous about having a high risk pregnancy but she totally calmed my nerves, told me I'll have weekly appointments starting at 32 weeks AND said there's no reason we can't try a VBAC if I don't have any complications later on!! I know there could be things out of my control towards the end but I'm still hopeful
Met with my obgyn today for the first time and had no idea I was to call ahead of time to see how busy the office was. Waited over 2 hours to see him, ugh. At least I brought a snack and water. I am 10+1 today, yay!
Will have 1st OB appt on Friday, at 9 weeks. Had a dating US A couple weeks ago. Anyone have a good explanation of what to expect? (Haven't gotten much from the OB-GYN except that it's a long one). Any opinions on if they'll do a Doppler at 9 weeks? Saw HB last time, but would love to hear it
I have my ob intake on Thursday but I don't get to see my doctor until the middle of July which is kind of frustrating. By the time I see her, I will be almost done with the first trimester completely which is frustrating cause all of the issues and concerns will (hopefully) be done and resolved. Guess a lot of girls are pregnant right now. Haha
I have my NT scan on Thursday and my first prenatal appt on Friday. I am anxious about the scan, I've been having dreams about it. But I can't wait to see the little nugget again.
I had my first appointment with my OB this week & confirmed the due date. Had an ultrasound & a quick exam & all that fun stuff. Talked briefly about a birthing plan but otherwise pretty easy appointment. Glad we got to see the baby again before my next appointment!
@sjb2215 at my OB consult, they went through everything I should/shouldn't be doing during pregnancy. I also had to do lab work. Since I had already done family history when I was pregnant with DD, they were able to skip over that part. I was probably there an hour this time around-with DD I think it took almost 2 hours. My OB office won't do Doppler until 2nd tri, but every practice is different!
@sjb2215, at my office the first appointment is with a NP and they do a health history, go over a basic pregnancy how to, discuss NIPT versus NT Scan, pelvic and if you're due a PAP, bloodwork. They don't even attempt the doppler until the second tri.
@smestadtj, that's standard practice for my office. First appointment with a NP between 8-10 weeks, first appointment with OB in the beginning of the second tri.
We had our second appt this week at 12 weeks. Our Dr finally talked to us more than 4 words and turned out to be very helpful and informative! Had a lot of forms and waivers to sign, did a health/history Q&A, got to do another ultrasound, and had blood taken. All in all a great appointment and best of all, baby looks healthy!!
Had my first appointment today, finally! I'm 9w3d. In addition to a pap, blood work, and exam I had to do the 1-hour glucose test (!!!!) gross. I had prediabetes about two years ago, which I was able to resolve, but I guess ob just wanted to check sugars as a precaution. I also got an ultrasound (wasn't expecting that!) which was a nice surprise. Nothing like hearing/seeing the baby's heartbeat. It was actually a really long 3 hours I was at the hospital for the appt, the lab, and the ultrasound. I am exhausted, haha.
Have my NT scan today and blood draws for what they are calling first trimester screening. Will they tell me at this appointment if our baby is at risk or do they have you come back for interpretation? I'm just anxious and want to not wait. I am excited to see the babe though. It's been like two weeks since we last saw him/her.
@koennia1217, assuming they're referring to the NT Scan you're going to have to wait for the results, most likely until your next appointment. They compare the u/s to your blood work and access your risk from there.
@koennia1217 When I had my NT scan with DD, they told me that the measurement they take on the US looked good (low risk), but that I would wait for the bloodwork to get a complete picture. I think the doctor then called me to discuss the bloodwork less than a week after. I think it sort of depends on the tech/doctor, but I don't see why you can't ask about the neck space measurement.
